It's absolutely hilarious to rewatch season 1 of Doctor Who for the case of the Doctor's physique which is made fun of, or the scenes where he is jealous to see Rose enjoying the company of an archetype, of a pretty (Adam) / handsome (Jack) man. Particularly with the context of the 10th regeneration where he literally becomes a pretty boy himself (at the same time we talk about David Tennant, a classic in terms of pretty boy...), whose physique makes Rose drool. I love that. We know our little Nine must have wanted this change very much during his regeneration into Ten to please Rose (come on, we all know that's mainly why the comments about his looks as Nine irritated him, because apart from being a redhead, the Doctor generally doesn't care about his looks). 😂

i think the most devastating bit about doomsday is that ten had never had to live without rose before.

ten was born in front of rose. he existed as a physical manifestation of nine's love for her: the embodiment of all the wounds she had tended to without knowing. rose could not save the doctor from hating himself, but she let him love again. she laughed and listened to music and got chips with him, and "run for your life" became "thank you. i need you. please stay with me." to live without her, to live with the knowledge that he could never ever see her again would have been utterly SHATTERING.
