Introducing Church and Tex from day one as exes truly was a brilliant take. Partially because I will always be an advocate for the "halfway through a shitty divorce" character dynamic, but also because it's essential to their entire story that they are never an actual couple. Whenever they're in the show together they are not romantically involved. They clearly still care about each other deeply, but their relationship has been dead for years; they just need a bit more time to accept it.
