they see this pathetic loser and figure killing him would bring them the same rush of intense satisfaction as stepping on a bug, and their obsession with him changes him from an inconsequential pest to an actual soldier with good leadership skills and the unstoppable drive to fight and survive and protect. and then this idiot turned badass by their own fixation with crushing him for being annoying and lame proceeds to wreck all their plans and/or kill them.

he's like a strange flytrap for bad guys

constantly thinking about how every big bad guy in need of a nemesis in the rvb universe sees this 18-year-old who enlists drenched in Axe bodyspray with no idea how to do his own laundry, grows into this 20something who has become an expert in such crucial coming-of-age milestones as getting mpregged to birth alien chestburster jesus and surviving a siege on the ancient sacred monument you're squatting in, but still doesn't know how to have a functional interpersonal relationship, and they're like, sweating and feverishly clenching their battle rifle, "you don't understand i NEED to kill him. CARNALLY. in the throes of the passions of the flesh"
