✨️ It was “love at 𝟷ˢᵗ sight” when 𝐊𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞 met 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐚 (sadly after her correspondence abruptly stopped, their feelings began souring after a period of heartbreak 😔💔)... when they meet once again it takes 𝐊𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞 a while to fully trust 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐚 again (they always kept their matching 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘮 on them, though, despite the pain 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐚'𝐬 absence caused them 🍇)

✨️ They're rarely seen without their mama's 𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘵 around their neck ❤️‍🩹

✨️ 𝐊𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐳𝐞 is quite a crybaby... & while they HAVE gotten better at processing their emotions they still have a tendency to cry whenever they experience overwhelming emotions 🥺😢😭 (positive OR negative)

✨️ As much as they love their aunt, they're painfully aware (even as a very young child) that she is NOT a true replacement for their mama ☹️

✨️ 𝐊𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞 has MASSIVE abandonment issues (𝐊𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞'𝐬 biggest fear is that NOBODY will love them enough to stay... & they'll be alone again) which leads to some not-so-healthy thoughts & behaviour patterns 😬 (nothing “extreme” or “harmful” to other parties though, just themself)

✨️ They absolutely adore both of their brothers... even if 𝐀𝐥𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐡 can be a bit patronizing & 𝐒𝐢𝐞𝐠𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐭 is emotionally distant at times 🙃

✨️ 𝐊𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐳𝐞'𝐬 favourite hobby is dancing 💃 (ballet, ballroom, etc...), not only does it keep them fit & quick on their feet, it's also A LOT of fun for them

✨️ Despite being so small, 𝐏𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧 often functions as their “emotional support bird” 💕🐤

Worldbuilding - Filling in the Timeline

Hullo there, Gentle Readers. Last time, we started filling in our world map with place names, giving rise to some non-human nations, as well as some "bad guy" human nations. This time, I want to start filling in some blanks in our timeline, and that means coming up with stories.

Although I want there to be a loose peace between our various "Good guy" human and non-human nations, I don't want things to all be wine and roses. As a result, I've taken inspiration from an artifact from 1st edition D&D - Queen Ehlissa's Marvelous Nightingale. Although the Nightingale might have all manner of benevolent powers, I like making it akin to the One Ring, where everyone covets possession of it, and therein lies my tale.

Long ago, the gnomes lived in hills close to the borders of fabled Dwarvenhome. When Dwarvenhome fell, many gnomes fled from their lands, seeking safety, while some gnomes pulled inward and used alliances with Earth Elementals to pull their great city, Kivilimythi, deep underground. They became the deep gnomes, or Svirfneblin, and their existence is uncertain to have continued. Many fleeing gnomes found haven in the human kingdom of Aelwyn.

Although their relationship with the Aelwynders wasn't always ideal, they eventually found a champion in Princess Ehlissa of Aelwyn, who offered them friendship and amnesty. As a gift for Princess Ehlissa when she became Queen, they gave her a clockwork nightingale full of magical powers. Although this gift delighted the young queen, all who saw it came to covet it, sewing the seeds of conflict.

Eventually, Queen Ehlissa was forced to ban some courtiers from Valkenholm who were caught trying to steal the nightingale. In retaliation, Valkenhom went to war, and the elven nation of Aureon took advantage of the chaos to make their own attacks. Meanwhile, Khalladast and Agadain added their own might to Aelwyn's, helping to defend their beloved neighbor, and the halflings that lived between the various kingdoms mostly tried to stay out of the way. Although the Nightingale War was eventually settled by the Treaty of Gravenstone, bad blood still lingers.

Terrified by the ripple of war they had caused, the gnomes withdrew from Aelwyn, fleeing into the bordering hills and forests. Some who settled close by gave up their tinkering ways, preferring to live a simpler life. They learned to communite with beasts and practiced illusion magic to protect themselves. They founded the nation of Rivilehru, becoming known as Forest Gnomes.

Other gnomes traveled across the Sundersea (my current name for the Mediterranean-like body of water that divides my map) and settled near the Mountain Dwarves. They kept their tinkering way and even expanded it with metals they traded from the dwarves. Their nation became known as Rivilasti, and they are now known as Rock Gnomes.

This affected the halflings as well. Fearing another war that could jeapordize them, they petitioned for and received status as a sovereign nation. Now known as the Nine Shires, the halflings of these lands still feel precarious with such great powers around them, but they are considered under the protection of Aelwyn, Agadain and Khalladast, with support from Aureon in regret for their part in what happened. Although the Marvelous Nightingale is believed to still be locked in the vaults of Aelwyn, a group of mages in Aelwyn's service found themselves determined to get the treasure for themselves. When they were defeated and rebuffed, they fled, bringing with them many other people, eventually settling on the island of Thulond, forming their own nation that covets the magical secrets of the other kingdoms, even making pacts for power and knowledge that cause trouble to this day.

As you can see, my thoughts around the Marvelous Nightingale have influenced a lot of my thinking for the whole region around Aelwyn, and the influence of one artifact has affected many nations. If I ever decide to pull in another artifact into my history, I want to make sure it has similarly wide-reaching ramifications. Artifacts should be legendary and powerful, often guiding the fortunes of nations.

One other major event I've decided I wanted is something to help explain the very fragmented and sparse and dangerous nature of this world. In Europe, the Black Death destroyed almost one-third of the population, something which led to a lot of empty space. I am stealing the name the Red Death from Edgar Allen Poe, and I've decided that this was a terrible plague which ravaged the Known World of Aerne. It took its name from the profuse bleeding that heralded the end hours of its victims, leading to gruesome and dramatic deaths.

Because I want this campaign to feel like humanity and the various good races are teetering on the edge, ready for Chaos to plunge in and destroy them, I decide that the Red Death only really ended a few years before whatever campaign I set in this world. The PCs are likely to find villages that're shadows of their former selves, Border Keeps that can't defend themselves, and tiny farms eager to find heroes who will help protect them. Friendly reminder: Ulfric invited the dark elves into Windhelm after Vvardenfell threw a shit-fit and displaced a fucklot of ‘em—and he’s not been on the throne of Windhelm long--maybe fourteen years. That bit is important. One of the dark elves you speak to in Windhelm (one of the well-off ones) says that it’s basically due to the dark elves’ lack of willingness to actually engage in the Skyrim way of life (clinging to their Morrowind ways of living—not culture, they’re obviously free to worship whomst the fuck ever in Windhelm) that keeps them impoverished.

 There are TWO nords in Windhelm who’re shitheads at the dunmer and, confirmed by a dunmer NPC, all they do is get shitfaced and stumble through the gray quarter at night, yellin’ crap—rude, but honestly, the Dragonborn can beat one of ‘em down and they lay tf off. They might be representative of Windhelm nords, but then the dark elf who is well off should also count as representative of how to be successful in a new country. He left the gray quarter and made a life for himself, which any of them can do, because it isn't actually confirmed to be a law that the dark elves have to stay in the gray quarter. One elf says “they won’t let us live outside that slum” but another elf, who lives outside the slum, says that the dark elves who live there are essentially oppressing themselves--much like the subject of this rant, every citizen of Skyrim will have a different perspective. 

Galmar Stone-fist, Ulfric’s right hand, is the one who tells the DB this, saying something along the lines of “he invited them here, but I wish he’d asked the rest of us first”. Meaning Ulfric DID defy some potential racism in order to offer asylum and shelter to the dark elves (I say potential, because ofc it could just be that life in Windhelm is tough enough without opening its gates to refugees). He stuck his neck out for elves. That’s a canon truth. The fact that you, a DB of ANY race, can literally join the Stormcloaks and rise in the ranks without a problem sort of negates the “racism” argument, if you are using in-game facts and mechanics. “Oh, but the player character has to be able to join either side” yeah that’s true--a lot of stuff in the game is set up for the PC. All the Stormcloak soldiers are human, but hey guess what? So are the Imperial soldiers. 

So miss me with that “ulfric is a racist” thing. That’s so simple, so very very simple and a really shallow interpretation of Ulfric’s character. Has he done no wrong? PFF fuck no. He killed a man in an argument over ideals and what a proper Skyrim should BE. Elisif is a widow ‘cause Torygg couldn’t best Ulfric, but the fight itself was fair, according to canon—members of Elisif's own court (which she doesn't rule, btw, Falk Firebeard does) confirm it. So riddle me this:

Is it wrong to desire liberation from a small, centralized government, who is under the thumb of an even more removed dominion of some folks who are slowly but surely killing all religious dissidents in your country because one of your gods makes them squirmy? [cue crusade banners]

The aldmeri dominion (and thence, the thalmor) are racist motherfuckers. The idea of Tiber Septim becoming a god is anathema, not only because he is mortal, but because he’s a HUMAN. Lorkhan et. Al. are elven gods, elven concepts, elven ideas—the other eight divines are Aedra, which were of the same nature as the Daedra ‘til they created Nirn. Now, could it be that the Aldmeri Dominion would balk against an ELF becoming a god? I can’t answer that. But the blessings of Talos work. They confer healing and shit on you, so I hate to break it to ya, elves, Talos is a god. [cue Heimskr’s speech “WE ARE BUT MAGGOTS, WRITHING IN THE FILTH OF OUR OWN CORRUPTION]

Engaging in religious oppression is the overarching theme of the Aldmeri Dominion. Conquering the Empire allows them to keep suppressing the worship of Talos. Talos is a human who became god--he was a nord, in fact, and the FOUNDER of the empire. He is a legitimate god whose presence upsets the elves because he was mortal. Is that racism? If they’re pissed because he was man rather than mer? Yes. If they just find the idea of an ascendant mortal anathema, still a tentative yes. Oppressing the beliefs of a people is a from of racism. 

The Nords came to Skyrim from Atmora thousands of years ago and they got along fine with the snow elves ‘til they unearthed an artifact in Saarthal. It was at that time the falmer felt they had no choice but to attack. Ysgramor lost his son(s?) and thus mounted a counterattack, driving the falmer to retreat into the waiting arms of the frankly shady dwarves, who promised asylum, but enslaved them. This is NOT a metaphor for the oppression of native peoples in the United States, so don’t like, try and make it one. The falmer struck first, the humans won and thus the Nord people are the oldest native residents of Skyrim--we’re talking millennia, here, people, not a century, but literal thousands of years that Skyrim has been human, specifically Nord, land. 

I mean, Tullius is kind of racist if you really feel the need to go there (I don’t, but see Imperial side dialogue before you kill Ulfric “wherever you people go when you die” in which Legate Rikke, a Nord herself, reminds him “Sovngarde, sir.”). That’s how racism works. People will say shit that disrespects your culture or way of life, but if you’re close to ‘em, they don’t see it as a problem, because they don’t see you as “like all the other ____.” Now, Tullius doesn’t justify himself to Rikke because he is her superior officer, but it just goes to show that, for being the imperial rep in Skyrim, he gives very few fucks about the culture. Now, is this most likely because he is tired and does not want to be there? Yep. Does that excuse him? Only if Ulfric’s belief in his own cause excuses him. The empire is a puppet for the Thalmor, thus Tullius is a puppet of the thalmor as well and if you don’t think that destroys his pride as an imperial soldier (same as Ulfric?????), well, maybe it’s time for another study in human nature.

Yes, it’s true that Tullius prioritizes the safety of the citizenry at Helgen. Ulfric doesn’t. 1. Ulfric is prolly a little pissed, 2. He’s just been arrested for beating a dude in a fair fight, 3. He has NO troops, and 4. He’s trained with the Greybeards; he understands what a dragon can do WAY more intimately than Tullius and he knows better than to get in the way of that fire. Skyrim is a rough fuckin’ place and the addition of dragons doesn’t help. Neither man backs down from the civil war, either, so don’t bother with that angle. “Oh Ulfric didn’t stop civil warring to fight dragons” yeah nor did Tullius. Methinks being the commander of an army is not so simple as “okay guys let’s stop fighting and be bffs”. Tullius is there on orders he doesn’t want to follow, but Ulfric also doesn’t seem like he WANTS to tear Skyrim up--he feels it is necessary, same as Tullius feels quelling the rebellion is necessary. It’s all in your perspective--and yes, I’ve played the Imperial questline; I was a high elf and it made sense, story-wise.

Aligning with the Empire means aligning with the Thalmor. Aligning with the Stormcloaks also means aligning with the Thalmor. No matter what, you’re either directly serving them or their interests. If this bothers you, you understand the desire for an independent, sovereign Skyrim. 

Ulfric does what he does because he just spent however the fuck many years fighting against the aldmeri dominion (after, mind you, leaving the training of the greybeards to stand up for an ideal), fighting FOR THE EMPIRE, hoping to keep the lands of men a separate, sovereign land unto themselves, with their various provinces and governments under the empire. He was NOT opposed to the empire until they bowed to the white-gold concordat, an agreement which promised peace (a good thing yes?) in exchange for dropping the ninth divine, Talos, Tiber Septim-become-god (religious persecution, and please recall this isn’t just “take down all shrines of talos”—this is literally hunt down and root out talos worshippers in their own homes [markarth quest]). While Ulfric is being tortured by the Thalmor, his countrymen are being forced to bow the knee to the Summerset isles and a people who have no real idea how life, commerce, and politics in Skyrim should and do work, all because they’re opposed to the worship of the LEGITIMATE GOD Talos.

The Thalmor convinced Ulfric that the information he FINALLY gave them after being tortured actually helped them take the Imperial capitol. It didn’t, of course, the capitol had already fallen, but he carries that guilt. That’s canon, too. He carries the guilt of thinking it’s his fault the Empire lost the imperial city (the first time--they took it back during the battle of the red ring like one or two years later) which, btw, the Aldmeri dominon started, for the record.

Lemme remind you that many of the citizens of Skyrim thought Torygg was a bit of a weakling, as well, that he was content to bow to the empire’s wishes, the wishes of the aldmeri dominion, without seeking a better position in trade, taxes, etc. for Skyrim. Is that a reason to kill someone? Well probably the fuck not. But you know what? These are fantasy politics and it wasn’t as if Torygg was caught off guard. They were dueling. [cue Yu-Gi-Oh! opening]. So the empire captures Ulfric and is gunne behead him—and well y’all played the opening.

I’m only saying this because I cannot cruise the Ulfric Stormcloak tag without seein’ this garbagio and it’s killin’ me. Is he a sweet cinnamon roll who can do no wrong? No. Are the stormcloak’s skyrim’s third reich? Also fucking no??? It is just my own observations and interpretations of the events and dialogues in-game which lead me to this conclusion. Skyrim has a right to secede from the Empire which serves the Aldmeri Dominion more than it serves its own people. Don’t forget that the Aldmeri dominion is engaged in active oppression of a legitimate faith. Don’t forget that Skyrim staying allied with the Empire doesn’t strengthen the Empire for some speculative, future uprising. Don’t forget that it’s unwise to apply real world politics to a fantasy world with such completeness that you cannot recall the actual details and parameters OF that fantasy world.

I mean at the end of the day, it’s a videogame, right? So… grain o’ salt.

Why men's voices are vital in Ireland's abortion referendum

Male allies in politics, the creative scene, and all walks of Irish life are stepping up alongside women to fight the system that oppresses them

‘Ireland Unfree’ is a Dazed mini-series telling the stories of Ireland’s bold fight for abortion rights, in the run up to the monumental referendum on the eighth amendment. Stirring protest, creativity, personal politics, and vital conversation, these Irish people push for autonomy. Here, we share their journey on Dazed.

The death of Savita Halappanavar in 2012 had an earth-swallowing feel to it. Denied of the basic healthcare required to ensure her survival, a constitutional amendment deemed her life – 31 years of complex human love, colour, and learning – of the same value as a 17-week-old fetus. She died in Ireland’s University Hospital Galway in Ireland due to the complications of a septic miscarriage. Her husband, Praveen, was dutifully left to channel her lost voice and carry her legacy on his already burdened shoulders.

On Friday May 25, Irish citizens will go to the polls to determine if the controversial Eighth Amendment of the Irish Constitution, which equates the right to life of the mother to the unborn, should be removed and repealed. The amendment, which criminalised abortion in almost all cases, was brought about as a result of a 1983 referendum, a time when the Catholic Church in Ireland was still very much an arm of government. Divorce was still illegal. Contraception was a taboo. Homosexuality remained outlawed.

The Irish man, of course, has no such lack of bodily freedom. Yet, about 70 per cent of Irish women who receive abortion care in the U.K. are married or with a partner. That is, conservatively speaking, thousands of fathers and partners that the Eighth Amendment has, too, bound to secrecy and shame.

Actor and author Emmet Kirwan – who last year created the beautiful spoken-word short film Heartbreak – views the redressing of Ireland’s wrongs broadly and disputes any sense of moral responsibility on individual men. “It’s not just a binary issue of males versus females: It’s an institutional issue,” he tells me. “Whether they be governmental, health, Church – all various arms of the state. There has been an institutionalised gender bias.”

On Irish streets, in local bars, on shop corners, through headlines painted across newspapers and hashtags proliferating via social media posts – there is a bitter political divisiveness that this debate has wrought, a clearly-defined chasm that calls other political ruptures of late to mind. No wonder there have been questions of sinister outside interference akin to the Cambridge Analytica scandal. In response, micro-campaigns have popped up all over social media – necessary conversation-sparking tools.

Ger Murphy, a 35-year-old events manager from South-Dublin, decided that Irish men needed to contribute to the dialogue around abortion rights. A conversation that, without question, needed their support. In late February, he founded the Men For Repeal Facebook page – ‘balls to the 8th’ is its light-hearted but defiant URL – after some troubling conversations about male engagement. Murphy sought to, at minimum, challenge the many outspoken men on the other side of the debate.

A large subset of the Irish male population, Murphy tells me over the phone, feel this is not their vote, that this a women’s issue that has no true bearing on their existence. Outside of the reality of crisis pregnancies which routinely affect women everyday, the idea that it’s a women-only issue is misguided, disingenuous, and, frankly, outdated. In truth, indifference largely translates as pro-choice.

“There is no problem in coming out and saying there is a male aspect to this issue. The vast amount of women would agree that the men in their lives are being affected as well,” Murphy says of the messaging. “The left trips over itself sometimes trying to be too PC about these things.”

Complacency is participating in neither debate nor democratic process, and it’s something to be concerned about. Kirwan, one of the most vocal Irish artists, explains there are no excuses for liberal-minded men eschewing their right to vote in the referendum: “The kind of passive, non-participation is essentially giving the vote over to the other side. This kind of idea that you can affect change by doing nothing; it’s a logical fallacy.”

Gordon Grehan of the Transgender Equality Network also tells me that repeal is “imperative to ensuring the rights of all people who can become pregnant, including trans men and non-binary people”. He adds: “As a trans organisation, we know the importance of ensuring self-determination, bodily integrity and physical autonomy.” As previously detailed in Brian O’Flynn’s report on the pro-choice campaign’s push for inclusivity, marginalised people like trans men who can get pregnant must be included in the conversation.

Men For Repeal, along with Lads For Choice, have thrust the conversation of male engagement directly into the national discussion with Together For Yes, the campaign in favour of repeal. Through the #menforyes hashtag, men online have told their uniquely positioned and shared stories of loss, shame, and state-sanctioned oppression. One such story, which was posted by Men For Repeal’s Facebook page earlier this month, attributed to a man named Enda, illustrates the culture of shame embedded in Irish society.

Enda’s mother – empowered by his coming-out as gay – confided in him that she had an abortion pre-marriage, but for fear of judgement, had told just Enda and one of her sisters. “She’d felt sure that my grandfather would disown her for having sex outside of marriage and he died never knowing,” Enda writes. “I remember her saying she felt as if she was damaged goods with my own father, and had been terrified of telling him in case he no longer wanted to marry her.”

Elsewhere, Murphy alludes to meme culture (check the Ireland Simpsons Fans page for some of the best) and the use of internet spaces as a shareable access point for men, more so for those that are tentative or unsure about their place in a large, fast-moving campaign. Murphy’s resourcefulness also helped him develop a video series where male musicians cover female artists.

Creativity in the arts has propelled much of Ireland’s political movements, and the Repeal Project is a major example. The monochromatic sweatshirt – simple, inclusive, and unisex – is boldly inscribed with ‘Repeal’, now iconic in Irish millennial culture as a statement of aesthetic defiance. Repeal founder Anna Cosgrave recently guest edited local music and culture magazine District with the ‘Men’s Issue’ of its Dublin City Guide. The issue profiles male Irish allies across sport, music, film, and politics. Dance music magazine and online community Four Four has been passionately supportive of repealing the 8th on its pages.

Dublin’s vibrant young music scene sees lyrics that continue to reflect Ireland’s bewildering reality, from DIY punk to burgeoning R&B. Rising Dublin hip-hop act, KOJAQUE, recently rapped: “Sovereign state; they’d rather see my mother bleed out than build a clinic.” Elsewhere in the fashion world, designer Richard Malone has been an outspoken supporter for repeal, taking over Selfridges’ window display to write messages of support. In a powerful open letter for Vogue, Malone describes the “infuriating and unjust treatment of women” he has witnessed at home, the misinformed, Catholic-based education about sex and abortion he and his generation received, and the social and class structures that hinder women’s right to choose. “We have to use our vote to speak for ourselves and for the generation of young people coming directly behind us,” he writes, “who remain voiceless in the votes on their future.”

Toxic masculinity is seriously affecting Irish young men’s mental health, sexuality, and attitudes towards sex, the latter manifesting itself in one of the most widely reported and divisive public trials in Irish history: the rape case involving Ulster Rugby stars Paddy Jackson and Stuart Olding.

The voice of brusque social sensibility in Ireland today, Blindboy Boatclub of Irish comedy duo Rubberbandits is in equal parts an absurdist and a realist. He’s become an unofficial spokesperson for these disenfranchised young men, men who accounted for 80 per cent of Irish suicides last year. With one of the highest percentages of teen suicide in Europe, a silent epidemic pulses through Irish society.

During a revealing 2016 interview on Ireland’s The Late Late Show, Blindboy asserted that feminism is, in fact, a remedy for male-centric mental health issues and toxic masculinity, something that rings through with this referendum and long afterwards. “I have nothing to offer a woman, I have nothing,” he says of young men’s attitudes in Limerick, his native city. “How am I supposed to provide for a woman? The fact of the matter, is that that is a patriarchal attitude that is no longer relevant to us in the 21st century.” Blindboy has become a pivotal voice in the movement; utilising social media and his increasingly popular podcast to speak to men directly. His recent book, The Gospel According to Blindboy, delves deeply into such issues – he’s a leader, and a cultural reckoning force behind the pro-choice movement.

In a more recent filmed conversation with Cillian Murphy, Blindboy and the actor rallied for men to excercise their right to vote. “Men and women are both custodians of this society…we need to go out and support women,” Cillian Murphy said.

For too long, Irish women have been defined by their struggle. Those single mothers, those women who claim asylum under Ireland’s dehumanizing Direct Provision system, women of disparate colours and backgrounds, those with varying sexual identities and disabilities: it’s a vote for all women, and now isn’t a time that men can be complacent or indifferent. May 25 gifts Irish citizens – men equally – the opportunity to right one of our nation’s great wrongs. Though cis men will never know what it is like to carry a pregnancy, men are inextricably linked to this upcoming referendum. Men have a duty to engage with, support, and amplify female voices and stories so that an experience like Savita and Praveen’s is never relived again.

Tutorial Invulnerability - Players are no longer invulnerable during parts of the Tutorial when first launching the game. This should resolve confusion around players seemingly being invulnerable at outposts. We take all reports very seriously, so please log a Support Ticketand we will investigate further.

Skeletons Accuracy - When shooting cannons from islands at long distances, Skeleton accuracy has been reduced. We read your feedback that it was a little extreme... #SkellyOP!

Merchant Voyages - It is no longer possible to force Merchant voyages to request delivery to a specific outpost. Now you'll have to earn your cheddar.

Sneaky Climbing - The bell on the small ship has been moved to the other side of the ladder, to avoid accidental ringing. We're redecorating! With the Ammo Crate and Bell moved, what are we moving next?

Fixed Issues

[PC Only] Rebinding to the F key will no longer soft lock the radial.

This has been a top reported issue to Support, and we believe this is now resolved. If you are still encountering issues with this rebind locking the screen, please log a Support Ticket and we will investigate further.

Stow and Disengage can now be rebound to the same button on a controller

Incorrect company icons will no longer be displayed for a split second if trying to get reputation from two different Trading Companies.

Joining a dead player whose ship is parked at an active Skeleton Fort will no longer prevent the joining player’s radials from being opened.

Recent Players list will no longer be delayed in updating players from other crews.

Hunter of Cursed Crews and Hunter of Fort Skulls Commendations now track.

Voyage inventory message is now translated when there are no voyages in the inventory.

Loot items can no longer be dropped behind the Captain’s table on the small ship when trying to place them on the table.

Ships’ ropes now cast shadows on the deck.

Musical instruments can now be used immediately after interacting with parts of the ship.

[PC Only] Half Vsync option now works as intended.

Resolved an issue which could cause players to fail to migrate and remain on low population servers.

Performance Improvements

Repetitive actions from players will no longer impact the network stability for other players.

Frame rate lock option is no longer disabled when vsync is enabled.

Significant reductions in time taken to return from the Ferry of the Damned.

Images in all Chests now load gracefully when browsing.

Multiple server crash fixes. Further improvements and optimisations for all platforms are ongoing.

These notes come direct from the Sea of Thieves Release Notes page, which also includes a little foreword from the developers. Probably the biggest takeaway from this update is the inclusion of more cosmetic gear for players to work toward, which is important given the horizontal progression that is deeply ingrained in Sea of Thieves.

Players who were abusing Merchant voyages will find that it’s become a little more difficult to reach Pirate Legend, which is a shame given how tough it can be to level the Merchants. However, this update comes at a time when players are anticipating The Hungering Deep, Sea of Thieves’ first large content update that will include all new activities for players to experience. It could solve some of the grind when it comes to the later stages of reaching Pirate Legend. Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on a release date.

These updates have been extremely regular and the team over at Rare seem to keep on top of community feedback and communication. Hopefully this will draw in some new players, and perhaps even convince some sea sick pirates to get back into Sea of Thieves in May.
