Find A Song about a lost love
The Suncharms - 3:45
Opening track off our forthcoming album ' Things lost'  the song is called 3.45. A song about a lost love who disappears across the ocean or  an imagined love who appears on the cover of a obscure 7"" single from decades before.

7/28/23.
I was flipping through my stacks and noticed that I've collected quite a few Rat Columns releases over the years. I've always enjoyed David West's work in Rat Columns (and other bands - especially Rank/Xerox)
Listening to "Thrift Store" from The Planes (Brooklyn, New York) upcoming LP "Dark Matter Recycling Co." really recalled the kind of indie pop peddled by Rat Columns. There's also a bit of The Suncharms, Constant Smiles and The Spires.
According to Austin Town Hall, this is a joint release between Totally Real Records (US) and Safe Suburban Homes (UK).

“For giving her your name in place of my son's life,” she said, her voice as sweet as sun-warmed apples. She must have been in the crowd that day. She pointed at the bucket with a long, slender hand. “My debt is paid.”
I've been making moodboards for my Lucien backstory fanfic and I love this LoA one so much I couldn't wait to post it!

Have Yourself a Merry Indie Christmas Smashes Through The £1,850 Mark on Bandcamp Friday!
Tumblr media
I want to start this update by thanking everybody who has purchased HYAMIC so far. There was a fantastic response on Bandcamp Friday and the total number of sales, as of noon today, is as follows -
Volume I 130 copies sold
Volume II 125 copies sold
The amount raised so far is heading rapidly toward the £2,000 mark. That is a response well beyond any that I could have hoped for when selling a Christmas album in the first week of November!
I also want to thank those shows/stations already playing songs from the album, particularly Sunshine Music iRadio for all they are doing to promote both albums, I also want to thank the writers who have already begun reviewing the album and the podcasts which are discussing the album too. I have half a dozen interviews lined up which should help spread the word even further. In the coming weeks you will hear songs from HYAMIC on BBC6 Music, Radio Wales, Radio X and Radio Brum as well as a network of specialist Indie shows in the UK, Europe and North America. I also want to give a special mention to https://christmasunderground.com/ I discovered so many great Xmas songs here, that it is impossible to imagine HYAMIC existing at all without my having discovered this site!
Tumblr media
Sunshine Music iRadio has committed to playing all songs on each album over the next two months and are dedicating whole shows to playing just music from the album. That started this week and continues until the end of December. The station is also interviewing contributing artists as part of their long-running 15 questions podcast. The Suncharms kicked that off yesterday.

The Suncharms- Things Lost (Sunday Records)
Tumblr media
This Sheffield, UK band released a few EPs at the dawn of the 90’s. Then they were dormant for a few decades but came roaring back in 2015 and have been active ever since. Led by vocalist Marcus Palmer and guitarists Matt Neale and John Malone (the rhythm section is rounded out by Richard Farnell on bass and Chris Ridley on drums) the band has come back in a big way.
This record, the follow-up to their 2021 record was actually released back in October of 2023 but I missed the boat on it so hey, why not write about it in early 2024.
The band’s sound, though primarily labeled as shoegaze, is hard to pin down. Sure, there are elements of shoegaze in there, but the bands also drop in plenty of indie pop jangle and some C86 exuberance, too.
“3:45” opens the record with some rough and tumble guitars (reminding me a bit of the Pastels) but that leads into the janglier “S Rites” and then into the impossibly lovely title track. “Daylight Is Here” has a moodier Teenage Fanclub grind and “Torrential Rain,” despite its title, has a real warm psych groove to it.
Britpop. shoegaze....whatever it is they do, The Suncharms definitely put their own, unique stamp on it, that's for sure.
