Inspector Tiff: A tax collector for the royal court, whose very name strikes fear into the merchant class of the Dream Kingdom. Despite her ruthlessness, she quickly develops a soft spot for a certain silly pink hero, and tries to teach them about the workings of the kingdom while bailing them out of trouble (literally...).

The Meta-Knight: A mysterious being who guards the Ever-Sleeping King, as well as the highest members of the royal court. It is considered a sacred weapon, which has protected the Dream Kingdom since its founding. Most people are not allowed to touch it or speak to it, but contrary to popular belief, it does talk, and it decides to grant Kirby a special exception after they finally meet. The two of them share many long conversations about a secret class of people, animals, and objects known as the ‘Dreamwrought’...

Simple Curiosity

Tiff patiently explains that it’s literally a criminal offense to touch the Meta Knight…so obviously Kirby needs to try it just to see what’ll happen. :9

Despite how silly this interaction is, it is essentially their first step down the road to hell. ^^;;; Before this, Kirb is just peacefully hanging out in Castle Village, taking odd jobs to earn money, nicking food from the Shopkeeper when they don’t have any, swapping stories with friends and sleeping under the stars. Assuming the Shopkeeper’s schemes to buy/steal Elfilin continued to fail, they (and all their friends) might have continued to live like that for years.

But instead, they get arrested in this moment, Elfilin goes missing (more on that later) and the fate of the world is sealed…
