You inspired me to start watching Nadia: Secret of Blue Water. After the first few episodes, getting to know Grandis's personality, I now consider Jessie/Grandis/Ursula to be an archetype.
you should check out time bokan! marjo/doronjo is where all those characters descend from. the trope is called 三悪 (sanaku)! it's not really just about the female leader but the two male goons with her lolol
bimajo is my personal favorite iteration from time bokan~
there's a lost more of this archetype outside of this franchise! petra fina from flint time detective is another!

Within the Time Bokan franchise, Noriko Ohara is most well known for her roles playing the various female bosses of the trios through the shows: Marjo (Time Bokan), Doronjo (Yatterman), Muujo (Zenderman), Atasha (Otasukeman), Mirenjo (Yattodetaman), Mun-Mun (Ippatsuman), Yanyan (Itadakiman), and Rouge (Kiramekiman). She would return to voice the character/s in any role after, including the 2008 Yatterman series, and providing the final line in the last episode of Yoru no Yatterman, where her voice as Doronjo can be heard wishing her descendant Leopard, "Good night, sweet dreams".
Her iconic line of "Sukapontan!", used when yelling at her bumbling two lackeys was an ab-lib that combined Sukatan (stupid) and Anpontan (fool) because she felt the original choice of insult in the script was a little too harsh for a kid's show like Time Bokan.

So I recently found out Wapeach design was posted by Waluigi's original designer and immediately upon seeing her she reminds me of Marjo from Time Bokan which makes sense since Waluigi was inspired by Grocky from Time Bokan

Voice Actor Noriko Ohara has died (aged 88)
She played a lot of my childhood crushes, namely the many versions of Majo/Doronjo who I always found incredibly inspirational growing up.
Though she's her own special brand of terrible, I always liked the way she refused to take shit from anyone which to little-girl me was kind of a new idea.
She was always just, the coolest. Even when she lost, and her team lost, they never gave up. They're actually the inspiration behind Pokemon's Team Rocket, for those of you who don't know.
I checked to see what the worst place on the internet had to say, since before I was a regular before got significantly worse in 2012 (and I got significantly better because I decided to face-turn and try to become a better person) and I was hit with this:
I'm not crying, you're crying.

An important piece of information that a lot of people get wrong: These three characters are not the "Time Skeletons", as many people erroneously think! Officially, the evil trio of Time Bokan is マージョ一味 (Mājo ichimi), which translates out to "Marjo's Gang"/"The Marjo Gang". So where does the wrong name come from?
The mecha that the crew uses each week is the タイム ガイコツ (Taimu Gaikotsu)... and Gaikotsu is Skeleton! As the crew almost always sing their song "Soreyuke Gaikotsu"("Let's Go Gaikotsu") about how evil they are every episode, it's easy for an outside observer to assume the song's name is just another "Tensei Doronbo" situation. But now you know: Marjo's Gang is the original evil trio of anime, and the Time Skeleton is the control unit of the evil trio's mecha of the week.

Since people are talking about Time Boken And Doronjo after the reveal of Wapeach’s existence, Tatsunoko should collab with Capcom in remastering Tatsunoko VS Capcom to Newer Consoles worldwide as well make a sequal to it and also release The entire Time Bokan/Yatterman franchise to the west in a Blu-ray/DVD Collection.
I wonder if there were some yatterman/time boken series that released to the west, hopefully Tatsunoko releases more someday…
Also on a side note: Capcom and Tatsunoko, PLS put Yattarō/Speedy, Pururun/Polly, and Sukashī/Guido from Samurai Pizza Cats/Kyatto Ninden Teyandee in Tatsunoko Vs Capcom next time!

First Time Bokan related post in this blog. Screenshots from Gyakuten Ippatsuman ep. 24.
It sucks that Yamamoto (2-3) and Eriko Hara (Ran, both pictured) are the only main character VAs still around today. Noriko Tsukase (Harubo) passed away in 1989, while Kei Tomiyama (Goh/Ippatsuman) died in 1995.
