#Tokyo mew mew was my favorite magical girl series growing up

What are some of your favorite episodes of the 2002 anime?

GOOD QUESTION!!! Immaculate even...

There truly are so many good episodes of Tokyo Mew Mew. I'll share some of my favorites under the cut. (Mew Mew Power mention in here too because I won't ever shut up about the English dub).

These will be in order of episode numbers! *cracks knuckles*

I feel that I am not the best with explaining ~why~ I am a fan of something and think my vocabulary is lacking (that is what I get for not reading huh 😔) -- so I'll mainly post screenshots and go: *point* "I like that!" or just type whatever thoughts come to mind when I think about the episodes.

Episode 10 and 11

Grouped together because these go hand-in-hand. These are the episodes where the girls find the final member of their team, Zakuro Fujiwara. She has no intention of joining them in episode 10 (lone wolf ™) but does swing around and joins the girls in episode 11.

Sorry to Mint but the animation when she has her soul crushed is amazing.

Mew Mew Power is especially funny for this scene because the 4Kids dub made Renee (aka Zakuro) say: "I don't need you guys, you're all freaks!" GIRL! What do you mean? You're one too. 🤨

Episode 12

THE TREE EPISODE!!!! Kishigo battle angst.

Aoyama also has so many "standing man emoji" moments in this series and they make me chuckle. The part of the episode where he sees Ichigo as a Mew Mew for the first time (and it's so early on in the series too!!) will never not be a "🧍🏻‍♂️" moment to me.

Episode 18 and 19

Pretty much every two part episode is one of my favorites. These two are no exception. Blue Knight vs Kisshu fight scene.

Episode 21

Mint goes rogue. We see Zakuro do this throughout the series but to see another Mew do the same is all the more refreshing. This is also the closest thing I'll ever get to an "evil" mew mew (a magical girl trope I think about often, and one I wish happened in TMM..) so I like the episodes where they go against (or away I guess) from the rest of the team for that reason.

Episode 25 and 26

Tokyo Tower! Poison moth!! Someone save us!!!

Not only because of the animation but just in general... episode 25 has one of my MOST favorite scenes in the entire series. There is this part where Kisshu is laughing in Ichigos face after the Blue Knight makes his exit. Kisshu is basically like 'ya'll are so cooked!' and it gets extremely quiet when Ichigo says "I won't let you" for the first time and all we hear is the rain in the background.

Ichigo is always standing up for herself in TMM (a quality that I lack in real life, lol) and I think that is why I appreciate/look up to her character so much.

Goose bumps whenever I watch this scene (yes in MMP too).

Episode 35

Soft side of Zakuro. Episode 35 was great for chill Zak moments. She saw herself a lot in this kid.

Everyone and their dog talks about when Zakuro punches Kisshu in the face. I remember watching this part a lot when I was younger and it's definitely a great moment for sure. I love Kisshu but I do like when he gets his shit rocked too.

It's cringe to get your face punched in by a wolfgirl. =/

Episode 37 and 38

Christmas episodes!! + This part specifically.

The whole alien vs human talks in these episodes. 👍👍

Ichigo was filled with so much emotion during this part. Go girl!!

Episode 39

Emo Kishigo angst truthers ™, this episode was made specifically for us. The way this one had an absolute CLUTCH on me. I have watched it an ungodly amount of times.

Dude needs medical attention immediately but he is bleeding out on the rooftops brooding instead, nice.

I love poking fun at Kisshu but the rooftop scene is actually so sad to me. AND.. YA'LL.. THE OST DURING THIS PART?! HELLO!! (x) This track is on repeat in my brain and it never stops.

(I also really like that screencap of Pie going "Tokyo Mew Mew, Die!")

Episode 40

Pudding was my favorite mew growing up so episode 40 makes it as apart of one of my favorites for sure.

I appreciate all of the girls, and while Pudding is not my favorite character from the series today, she is literally the connection between how I met some of good online (and now also irl) friends, LOL.

Episode 42 and 43

Episode 45

If you are a Kishigo truther then I do not need to explain this one. Again, I watched this one an ungodly amount of times. Unhinged.

Episode 48

More unhinged Kisshu. He has a really insane good laugh in this episode.

Episode 49

BOY HOWDY do I love Pie in this episode. Kisshu talks about not relying on//betraying Deep Blue (basically their Jesus in the series) and Pie CANNOT BELIEVE WHAT HE IS HEARING. He is a loyal to DB and he is pissed about it.

After all they've been through together on their planet and earth.... this conversation ends so cold with Pie going "The next time we meet, we might be enemies..." and when Tart leaves with Kisshu, even he is conflicted.

Episode 50, 51 and 52

Just grouping the last 3 together. We are introduced to the Big Cheese (Deep Blue) in these final episodes.

Episode 51 has some of the best animation.

I've mentioned before that my favorite magical girl anime is Tokyo mew mew, but I don't think I've shown my favorite character from Tokyo Mew Mew! xP

This is Pudding Fong, or Mew Pudding! :3

In Tokyo Mew Mew all 5 magical girls, or mew mews, are infused with the DNA of endangered species. Mew Pudding has the DNA of a Golden Lion Tamarin! >:D They're super cute animals and fit Puddings personality perfectly! Pudding's a super sweet and energetic character and I don't see many people with her as their favorite. </3

I also really really like Kisshu, but this post is about Pudding! <3

I might start blogging about my favorite magical girl series villains too! :0 I've always really liked villain characters growing up, and still do! :3 But the superheroes always solo them. <33

Kisshu's still awesome though, I love him sm <3 Favorite anime villain of all time. >:3

Hi hi hi! This is my sparkly and sugary magical girl blog ♡♡ You'll mostly find Tokyo Mew Mew as a focus here, though I am on a quest to watch and catalog as many Magical Girl animes as possible! (Pending: I am a working adult, so the magical girl watch list is progressing at a snail pace... (T^T))

The magical girl genre has been my absolute favorite ever since my earliest memories. Hanging out in my brother's room, watching each part of the horrendous 4Kids dub of Tokyo Mew Mew clipped into 8 minute videos cropped and posted on Youtube.... Despite the many barriers keeping me from the true gold of the show*, the series was an incredibly fun and very bright glimpse into the sparkly optimism and hopefulness the magical girl genere had to offer.

* ( The 4Kids dub of Tokyo Mew Mew being notorious for cutting and altering chunks of episodes, and never releasing the end of the Tokyo Mew Mew series--- leaving baby Masha utterly baffled.)

Tokyo Mew Mew is still my favorite magical girl anime, probably for nostalgic reasons and how the series influenced me growing up; so clearly when making a magical girl blog, there was really no other option for theme. Favourite book?  I'd say La Révolte des anges (by Anatole France) cuz it's a wonder of queer chaotic good angels and that's a perfect aes. I also really love some play like The trojan women (Euripides), Le Cid (Corneille), Caligula (Camus), Electre (Gireaudoux). When I read those plays, I can't help but saying some verse out loud cuz it's so so so great and im an old school theater nerd. Also, because im at that level of nerd, i want to precise my favorite trpg book which is In nomine satanis/magna veritas (lost generation).

Bravest thing you have ever done?  Talking to what is now the person im talking the most with everyday (and kind of a squish)  because we're both giant ygo nerds. Yes it's not that strong but talking with people i don't know, especially at that time, and especially related to ygo, it is a real challenge for me.

Happiest memory you can remember? ...I don't know...everytime im with my friends ? I don't have a good memory so all I can think of is when i find stuff related to my interests (the first cards i bought, that one vaati poster etc...). But overall each moment i spend with a friend fill me with such happiness that my face hurt later because i smiled too much.

If you were to eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Either bread or fresh tomato. Guess what im already doing that because of arfid and that's the healthiest food i can eat.

If you had all the money in the world and the desire to go to post-grad, what would you want to major in? I don't know... does game design count ? Or  scenario ? This or sociology or something like this. I'm still stuck in deciding if i want to create or research.

If you watch anime, what’s your favourite series? If you answer YGO, what’s your other favourite series? ...I don't watch that much anime because ygo takes so much time. But right now it's clearly inazuma eleven, especially Ares no tenbin. The show is so great, so interesting, so full of angst, drama, great ship and cute characters ! and it's really improving like now the main goalkeeper is an awesomely badass girl !

Do you collect anything? Ygo cards. I started a bit more than a year ago and it's growing slowly but surely (around 1000 of them). I don't have extra rare cards (i think the rarest i have are gimmick puppet of strings and leo) but a bit of many archetypes, some of my absolute favorites and what i need to smile each morning when i see them on my wall.

One thing on your “bucket list”? The two tin box coming up this summer. I couldn't choose between judai and yusei so ive decided to take both. Also I'm looking for getting Tag force special someday.

Favourite song? (can also be your “favourite as of right now” song?) I don't have favorite songs, mostly composer im really into... there's the usual pinocchio-p (ghost play for the audience, nobody makes sense), sasakure.uk (sayonara world end, alone to alone) and these days harumaki gohan (the world is ending, cobalt memories). I currently mostly listen to nightcore and EDMs because I have to study but only one song ? Airhead by Picon.

Are you an outdoorsy or indoorsy person? I think I need a bit of both. I need a safe home to come back to and i love the feeling of it but i need to go out a lot to let out energy (or im just runing around my flat and it's ridiculous).

Can you swim, and if so, do you enjoy it? I can, badly, but i can. And I do like it ! But i prefer playing around in water rather than just swiming. Like trying to look at the sky from under the water.
