The Toyota Scion was debuted in California in 2003 with wider distribution spreading to the rest of the US and Canada by 2010.
50 Ways To Say Goodbye by Train was released in the United States on June 11, 2012. It peaked at number 20 on the Hot 100. It was certified gold on September 20, 2012.
The song’s chorus notiby contains the line “run over by a crappy purple Scion”.
The Toyota Scion was classified defunct on February 3, 2016.
Was the car, in fact, crappy and therefore not selling well? Or did a band known for their catchy lyrics inspire a lack of confidence and thereby cause a major car manufacturer to retire one of their vehicle lines?

Personally think the Scion TC should have been the replacement of the AE86 instead of the FR-S. My only reasoning behind is because of the shape of TC and how lack luster it looks. It would have made a decent sleeper in terms of appearance. Unfortunately, I think the major draw back was that it was FWD only and the engine could have been something along the lines of a Beams instead. GT86/BRZ/FR-S could have been the next form of an 86 or Supra in my opinion. It's a great car and there is so much aftermarket to it now. As for the new GR86/BRZ I think it did well morphing into what a newer 86 could be. Albeit, I am not a fan of the rear end of the car, but it is what it is.
