Travis has two phones.

His fuck phone, the one whose number he gives out to all the girls that come calling and his normal cell, the one that he uses for his business and personal shit.

The fuck phone stays in his glove compartment. Whenever he hits a new state he pulls up his list of contacts and scrolls down the list until he hits the first name with five stars alongside it before he arranges a hook up.

Like Rip says he puts the whore in horseman.

That all changes when he meets you because after that first night, he’s in love. He wants to marry you, give you babies, buy a ranch in the middle of nowhere where you can spend all day making them. As far he’s concerned you’re it.

Which is why he’s now standing on the bank of the Missouri River, his fuck phone clasped in his hand because that’s how fucking sure he is that he’s found his soul mate. He draws back his arm and hurls it as far as he can into the river, it lands with a satisfactory plop in the distance.

He envisions that phone sinking to the bottom, the ghosts of his past disappearing into the ether as he tucks his hands into his pockets and he turns his back on the river, taking a step forwards into his future.

Both women looked off to the party being thrown for the newly appointed governor; albeit John Dutton. All the ranch hands and then some were messing around in the large arena, lassoing each other at the feet and laughing as they got yanked to the dirt ground. 

Lydia had her eyes focused on Rip, while Beth had her eyes focused on Travis. Not in lust or want but reminiscing on the choices the other made. Both women when younger would have believed they’d end up together at one point. However, they were watching as their lives went opposite of the distant thought. 

“We’re lucky.. y’know?” Lydia mumbled out.

“Ha, lucky?”

“Yea, they chose us even when we didn’t choose them.” 

That statement had stunned Beth into silence. She had never thought of it that way. It’s always felt like dumb luck and nothing more. Lydia though had put much thought into how everything paved out. Four years ago she was content being divorced and isolated now she couldn’t imagine going back to a silent house. 

“Having to choose between him or you was one of the hardest choices I had to make.” The blonde confessed. “ I wanted it to be you so bad, i tried to find a way for it to be you.” She hesitated before finishing, “But you’d be the death of me and therefore the ranch.” 

“The death of you?” Lydia blurted before she could let the confession fully sink in. 

“I can’t be the heartless, soul-crushing, company ending, snake in the grass; daddy needs me to be. I would have ended that career and with it a quarter of the ranch would be an airport by the winter.”

Lydia wanted to laugh at such a statement. The Beth Dutton.. do anything but take down multi-billion dollar companies? It was a fairy tale within itself. But maybe she was so invested in her own feelings and concerns of everyone else to notice. The observation of how Beth acted towards Rip was obsolete. The troublesomes of the past seasons had made her blind to everything. 

“Maybe this is the way we needed everything to play out. We’re both happy now, and have amazing men we can say we’re married to. I enjoyed the time we did have together but I think that’s what it was supposed to be. Time we had.” The brunette didn’t know how else to word the series of words confronted at her. It’s not like they were going to confess their love and run off together all because of one truthful conversation. Their commitments were full-time to the aforementioned men and ranch. 

“When the fuck did you become so wise?” Beth chuckled before lightly laying her head on Lydia’s shoulder. 

“Maybe marriage has changed me.” She remarked, wrapping her arm around Beth. The silence sat for a moment before both the women let out a good laugh. “Yea, maybe I have a head injury I forgot to mention.” 

“Now that sounds a hell of a lot more likely, Dee.” Beth replied.

Match Review: Barnsley 2-3 Manchester United U21

We love a good United comeback at the death, and that's exactly what Jack Fletcher delivered - and in front of his dad!

United began their cup run in the EFL Trophy poorly, conceding to Barnsley striker Vimal Yoganathan after just 10 minutes and giving the young Welsh striker his first senior goal for the club.

A poor backpass from Harry Amass (the second in two games 👀) to a ball-watching Tyler Fredricson left United at the mercy of Kyran Lofthouse - who squared neatly to an unmarked Yoganathan. Manager Travis Binnion will be disappointed in the other centre back Louis Jackson too, who was several yards upfield and either not aware or not respecting the danger Barnsley's strikers presented.

Both sides kept the game going at a good pace; end to end football even despite the torrential rain that swept in midway through the half. Barnsley struck again though in the 37th minute; again through Yoganathan and again assisted by a Lofthouse cutback. Frustratingly for the manager, United had 7 in the box - plus the keeper - versus Barnsley's 3.

2,638 turned out to Oakwell for the evening game, including Martin Devaney - Barnsley assistant manager and United player Jacob Devaney's dad. In the stands were United's technical director Jason Wilcox, deputy football director Andy O'Boyle, interim director of recruitment Christopher Vivell, academy director Nick Cox, and ex-United star & Scotland international turned first team coach slash... some sort of first team/academy transition role? It's Darren "i've got twins smashing it for the academy" Fletcher.

Of course, it would take until late in the second half for the attacking twin - Jack - to show up and show off, subbed on in the 57th minute for Ruben Curley.

Barnsley flashed one across goal straight away in the second half, but following the introduction of Fletcher it was one-way traffic in United's favour; the attacking mid seeming to unlock Barnsley and unleash Ethans Wheatley and Ennis respectively.

Ennis finally got United on the scoreboard thanks to a lovely one-bounce low cross from James Nolan on the right wing, deep into the middle of the box and curled home into the mid left of the net.

Goal number two was a WORLDIE from Jack Fletcher. The socials blew up as three minutes later Harry Amass won an aerial ball, spun past the next man, and before he could touch it again Jack Fletcher hits a sumptuous volley top bins, upper left corner of the net, with Ben Killip at full stretch and unable to do anything.

Victory would come ANOTHER three minutes later with Jack Fletcher the man of the moment. A good throw-in from the right sideline found Fletcher in decent space, who then for some mad reason was left to drift across the box before hitting a cute left-foot finish back across his body, through the Barnsley defensive crowd, and in low at the keeper's near post before he could even see it. 3-2 United, comeback complete.

There was a little extra drama in the final moments, with Harry Amass going down after a challenge from Corey O'Keefe - RCM for Barnsley. The match camera didn't show the incident but Amass gestured that he'd been elbowed in the head, and moments later the referee sent O'Keefe off - seconds before the end of the game.

A disappointing end for the young Barnsley side, but a good comeback for United's youth in a tricky away game off the back of a rough defeat to Arsenal.

The next cup tie is another away trip in late September, to Doncaster Rovers, but for now the lads prepare for a home game in the league against Stoke City at 7pm on Friday.

RSA Dorm: Daydreamers

A bit of further depth into some of the OC RSA students.

A dorm inspired by Alice in Wonderland where their dorm transports you to outside of Mad Hatter's house. The whole area is wooded with hedges around as the barrier. The air in the dorm is very chill and whimsical as they are the most laid back out of the RSA house compared to their NRC counterpart in Heartslabyul. They also house some of the most middling grades in all of RSA.

Dorm Leader (OC): Andrew "Andy" Lovington - Based on Alice, a blond haired 2nd year whose a bit ditzy, relies heavily on Hatley.

Vice dorm leader (OC): Bigsy "Hatley" McGee - Based on Mad Hatter (with a bit of American McGee's Alice version of Mad hatter), a light brown long haired black 2nd year who is mysterious and strange. He might cause problems if he's around the Heartslabyul students.

It’s Sunday afternoon and Travis is asleep on the couch with his head resting on your lap, your fingers combing lightly through his hair. He’s been napping for a couple of hours now, his arms crossed over his chest as you listen to the even sounds of his breathing. It’s been happening a lot recently, ever since the doctor hold him he was in acute liver failure.

It’s not a matter of years anymore, he’d told the two of you. It’s months.

The car ride home had been quiet because Travis, he doesn’t want to face this just yet and you don’t blame him because the truth is, you’re not ready to face it either. You’re not ready to let him go.

“I want to have a part of you.” You say quietly as you’re making dinner that night. He’s cooking steaks on the stove while you chop peppers for the salad. “When you go, I want to keep a part of you with me.”

He turns the stove off then because the who of you talked about having kids once upon a time. The plan had always been after you were married, when the two of you settled down in your own little ranch in Montana.

“Honey…” He begins, his hands coming to rest upon your waist as you set the knife down. “I don’t think that’s a decision we should be making right now.”

“When should we be making it?” You snap as you turn to face him. “In a couple of months when you’re too sick to move, when you’re gone?”

The words hit him like a slap because you aren’t wrong, his time, it is running out and he understands why you would want a piece of his memory after he leaves this world but he also understands it’s an emotional response to the reality you’re facing.

If he does succeed in getting you pregnant and that’s a big if, considering your age and his circumstances, the likelihood is he won’t live to see his baby being born, he won’t get to hold them in his arms, to sing the lullabies is momma used to sing. The thought of that, it tears him up inside because there is nothing in this world he wants more than to marry you, to give you his baby but he knows all of that is a symptom of his condition.

“Gina honey.” He whispers. “I can’t give you that, not like this.”

You break then, he watches the pieces of you crumble as you push away from the counter, slipping away from him. You’re out the back door before he can stop you, slamming it shut so hard that the glass vibrates in the panel. Travis puts his hands on the counter, trying to catch his breath because this hurts, it hurts so fucking much to listen to you breaking down on the porch outside, sobbing your fucking heart out.

His eyes start to sting because this thing, this fucking disease it won’t happy until it’s destroyed every part of him.
