Old Feelings Die Hard
Tumblr media
Y/N L/N, a boy born in 1790, at the time of his birth Napoleon domanated Europe. His parents, although not very wealthy, managed to save up some money and escape Europe, sailing for the newly formed USA.
Not long after arriving Y/N's father fell terribly ill, Y/N did his best to find a doctor, but it seemed that no one was willing to help him.
But faith wasn't ready to let the boy give up, one day, walking through the streets he was approched by a tall blond man.
“I'm so sorry, but you don't seem very well. Are you alright?”
Y/N, who had his eyes on the floor, looked up, staring at the man's golden eyes.
For some strange reason Y/N felt a pull towards the man, like he could confess all his insacurites and secrets to him and the man would keep them safe with all his heart.
“Uhm...i'm sorry sir, I'm indeed not well. My father is very sick and I don't know what to do anymore...”
“I believe it's your lucky day then, I'm a doctor, Dr. Cullen, Carlisle Cullen.”
Y/N ended up guiding Dr. Cullen into his home, he failed to notice the small grip Dr. Cullen kept on his lower back, as a way to protect him while in the busy streets.
After his first visit Dr. Cullen knew that Y/N's father was suffering from a fever, a very high fever, but a curable nonetheless.
He kept visiting the L/N's household, Dr. Cullen couldn't help eyeing the young man. The way he would treat his father and mother with such care filled his heart with love.
Since he wouldn't accept money as a form of payment (they obviously couldn't pay), Dr. Cullen was offered to eat with the small family. Which he did.
The thruth is, Dr. Cullen loved the young man, he felt connected to him, and if eating with the family meant he would spend a couple more moments with Y/N he was all in it (even tho the food didn't taste like anything to him).
On his last visit to the family, Dr. Cullen left like he was going to lose a part of himself, he just didn't want to go, he didn't want to lose the young man's attention and caring nature.
But alas, the time had to come, the time of his departure.
“Before you go, I just want to say...thank you so much, Dr. Cullen, I'm in debt with you.”
“You don't have to thank me Y/N, I'm a doctor after all. And for the last time, please call me Carlisle.”
“Again, thank you so much...Carlisle.”
Oh, how heavenly the vampire's name sounded in the young man's mouth. Carlisle thought it was the most beautiful sound in the world.
He didn't want to leave, he wanted to stay with the boy, but reluctantly he did so.
Throughout the next weeks Carlisle couldn't stop thinking about Y/N. The boy was simply so...enticing.
He dicided to visit the L/N's again, just to check up on Y/N's father, and maybe see Y/N's pretty face agian.
But then....his heart broke, the small house was no more, it was simple a pile of rubbles.
Carlisle didn't want to think about the worst scenarios, but he did. He asked around and he wished he didn't had.
“The L/N's? They ain't here no more, there was a fire in their house. We couldn't find them...we think they died.”
At that moment Carliske felt like a part of himself died too...his mate, his other half was dead.
Many years later...
Y/N was in a nice little town called Forks. After having lived in many different locations, Y/N decided to come to this small town.
He managed to get a job as a History professor in Forks High School. Y/N loved teaching and being that he had a Doctorate in History, he was quite able to teach.
After his first days of school, Y/N had realized something, there these siblings all, the “Cullen Kids”. Y/N couldn't help but think of an old aquatance . He played the mamory in his mind, over and over again.
“...I'm a doctor, Dr. Cullen, Carlisle Cullen.”
Carlisle...oh, how much Y/N warned to see his handsome face again. How much he wanted to kiss him.
Y/N had also realized that the Cullen kids were quite popular. Although they are all different in their own ways, they are all good kids. (they are over 100 years old, tf Y/N?).
One ordenary day, professor L/N was going to the library to return an amazing book he had read. Less then a minute after having arrived, Y/N was greeted but Emmett.
“Oh! Hello Mr. L/N! What are you doing here?”
“Uhm..H-Hello Emmet, I'm here to return a book. Is there anything I can help you with?”
“Yes!...my siblings and I wanted to talk with you, do you mind?”
Emmett guided Mr. L/N to a small round table in the back of the library, where his siblings were gossiping (Mainly Alice and Rosalie).
Jasper was the first to notice the teacher's presence and he tapped Alice on the shoulder. She looked up to Mr. L/N, giving him a smile.
“Mr. L/N! I'm so glad you're here! We wanted to speak to you!”
“Is there anything you need my help with?”
The teacher sat next to Edward, Emmett took his place next to Rosalie. Speaking of Rosalie, she wasted no time going straight to the point.
“Are you a vampire?”
A little taken back, Y/N didn't know what to say, however Alice reassured him by saying that they were all vampires and just wanted to know if he was too.
“Well...yes, I'm a vampire. Have been for quite sometime now.”
“When were you born?” asked Alice.
“When were you turned?" asked Edward.
“Uhmm...I was born in 1790, I'm not sure about the exact date, since at that time Civil regestration wasn't really a thing, and I was turned in 1808.”
“No disrespect Mr. L/N, but you're really old!” joked Emmett.
“Look who's talkin' you're over a 100 years old.” Commented Jasper.
“I'm still not as old as you, Jasper.” replied Emmett.
"Boys, please stop.” said Alice.
Y/N cleared his throat and decided to ask what has been plaguing his mind since he met the Cullen siblings.
“Is your father Carlisle Cullen by any chance?”
“Yes he is, do you know him?” asked Rosalie.
“Yes I do, we met a long time ago...”
If Y/N was able to blush, he would have. This didn't go unnoticed by Alice.
“OMG! You have a crush on our father!”
“Alice Cullen! Watch your mouth, I'm still your teacher!”
“Oops...sorry.”
After much convincing from the Cullen siblings (Alice), Y/N had agreed to meet with his long time crush, Carlisle.
After arriving at the Cullen residence, Y/N stared at the gigantic house, he didn't expect Carlisle to do this well in life.
At the door, Y/N was greeted by Edward, who greeted him and led him to the living room.
“C-Carlisle, is that you?”
“Y-Y/N, I thought you...”
Carlisle didn't have time to finish his sentence, Y/N practically ran and jumped into his arms.
He didn't even notice the rest of the Cullen family, all that mathered was Carlisle.
Carlisle caught Y/N and wrapped his arms around him, like he was about to lose him again.
“I missed you so much, Carlisle!”
“We're together now, my love, that's all that matters.”

Mississippi Girls Shine in Shutout Over Mississippi State

Junior RHP Kaitlin Lee threw a 4-hit shutout, and a pair of Mississippi girls in Ashton Lampton and Paige McKinney both finished with an RBI, leading No. 23 Ole Miss softball past its rival Mississippi State, 2-0, Wednesday night.
In front of a vibrant crowd of 978 fans, sixth-largest in school history, the Rebels (22-6) took an early lead from the start, and dominated in the field and in the circle winning their second-straight over the Bulldogs (22-8). Lee, a native of Gulfport, was dominant in her 10th start of 2017, allowing only four hits scattered across four different innings while striking out four. The transfer from Mississippi Gulf Coast finished with no walks in her third complete game of the season.
Offensively, Ole Miss tallied six hits from five different players, led by two from Kylan Becker who finished 2-for-3. Elantra Cox added one with a run scored from the leadoff spot, while Miranda Strother, Sarah Van Schaik and McKinney all had one hit each.
The Bulldogs threatened early on after the leadoff hitter reached on an error, but Lee worked around that and a sacrifice bunt with a pair of groundouts escaping the early trouble. The Rebels responded in their first chance at the plate, as Cox reached on an infield single before moving up to second on an errant throw. After Becker put down a perfect bunt for a hit, Strother walked and Lampton drew a hit by pitch for an easy RBI, scoring Cox to put the Rebels in front 1-0.
Mississippi State again put its leadoff hitter aboard in the second, but a sac bunt attempt was no good, and Lee again worked out of it to retire the Bulldogs. In the home half of the second, McKinney drew one of the Rebels’ three walks on the night, but back-to-back fielders’ choice plays and Cox caught stealing at second ended any threat for more runs.
The middle innings produced nothing for either side as both pitchers settled in for the most part, before the sixth saw six Ole Miss hitters head to the plate. Van Schaik got the rally started off a hard single to center field, before Bry Castro pinch ran for her. A groundout to short moved her to second, and McKinney’s clutch RBI single up the middle scored her, pushing the Rebels’ advantage to 2-0.
The Bulldogs went on to threaten in the seventh as the leadoff hitter reached after being hit by a pitch, and a single put runners at the corners, but Lee closed it out with a groundout capping off the complete-game shutout.

Ole Miss’ Aubrey Edie Earns NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
Ole Miss volleyball defeated Southern Miss 3-0 on Friday, September 20th, 2013 at the Gillom Center in Oxford, MS. AUBREY EDIE
Ole Miss volleyball senior Aubrey Edie continues to rake in honors months after tallying her last assist for the Rebels. The Fayetteville, Arkansas native has received a prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship to continue her studies.
Edie becomes the 20th NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipient at Ole Miss and the first since Lee Ellis-Moore of Track and Field in 2011. She is also the first volleyball player to earn the scholarship.
An elementary education major with an impressive 3.98 grade point average, Edie is one of 58 student-athletes (29 male, 29 female) from all NCAA divisions to earn the $7,500 scholarship for the fall season.
“We want our student-athletes to have a great experience while at Ole Miss,” said executive associate athletics director and senior woman administrator Lynnette Johnson. “Our student-athlete development staff provides support for their educational endeavors and prepares them for ‘life after athletics.’ Aubrey’s postgraduate scholarship is a great testimony to her commitment to excellence in preparing for her career after volleyball.”
Directing the offensive attack for the Rebels in 2016, Edie became the career record holder at Ole Miss with 4,834 assists, which ranked fourth in the NCAA in active career assists. She ranked fifth in the SEC in assists per set and paved the way for the Rebels to have two hitters among the top 10 in the SEC and two players in the top 10 in kills and points per set. Edie earned AVCA All-South Region honors.
Off the court, Edie became the first two-time CoSIDA Academic All-America honoree in program history in 2016 and the first player to be named to the first team. Edie is a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-District First Teamer as well as a three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll. She has made the Chancellor’s Honor Roll every semester and has been named to the SEC Community Service Team twice.
“Very seldom does an all-around talent with a near-perfect academic record also set records athletically,” said senior associate athletics director Derek Cowherd. “Aubrey’s personal accolades stretch far and wide, from being an Academic All-American, to the assist leader at Ole Miss, to being named an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship winner, to being selected for the SEC Community Service Team. Aubrey has been an excellent representative of the university, and every student-athlete should aspire to attain her level of success both on and off the court.”
The NCAA awards up to 174 Postgraduate Scholarships annually. The scholarships are awarded to student-athletes who excel academically and athletically and who are at least in their final year of intercollegiate athletics competition.
NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships are awarded three times a year corresponding to each sport season (fall, winter and spring). Each sports season, there are 29 scholarships available for men and 29 scholarships available for women for use in an accredited graduate program.
