[ToP Arc] DBS EP 110: Goku breaks his limits/shell. His mind and body reaches a state where he moves without overthinking, opening him to greater power; Ultra Instinct Omen. [⬇]

[ToP Arc] DBS EP 116 & 129: In Ultra Instinct Omen, Goku cannot fully utilize Ultra Instict yet. He can dodge without thinking, but he cannot yet attack without thinking until Ultra Instinct is fully realized. Goku's thoughts interfere & dull the impact of his attacks when he's using Ultra Instinct. But, he begins to adapt & overcome this. [⬇]

[ToP Arc] DBS EP 116: Vegeta realizes that Goku's Ultra Instinct is what Whis has been training them to achieve. [⬇]

[ToP Arc] DBS EP 117: Vegeta tries to achieve Ultra Instinct like how Goku did, but it's a failed attempt. [⬇]

[ToP Arc] DBS EP 122 & 123: Vegeta begins to go down a path different from Goku, breaks through his limits/shell, & evolves his SSB power. Vegeta learned to react at the right time as Whis had been trying to specifically teach him to do. Vegeta watches to find openings (similar to Jiren), but still has the flaw of using too much energy & losing focus due to his short temper. [⬇]

[ToP Arc] DBS EP 129-130: Goku dives further into Ultra Instinct until he finally achieves the true completed state of Ultra Instinct. He reacts and attacks without thinking as his body moves on impulse & instinct. A limit-breaking power of the gods that temporarily made him stronger than Jiren & the Gods of Destruction. [⬇]

[ToP Arc] DBS EP 130: Jiren has a fighting style similar to Ultra Instinct where he attacks when necessary and conserves stamina. After being pushed into a corner & remembering his trauma, Jiren broke through his limits through his sheer determination, reaching a state that could rival Mastered Ultra Instinct. [⬇]

Jiren's method to unlocking more power is similar to how Vegeta broke through his limits. Both pushed themselves to draw out higher power through sheer determination. Vegeta did so by thinking about his promise to Cabba. Jiren did so by remembering everyone he lost. Both evolved their current power.

Jiren's unlocked power is also similar to the way Goku did. Goku's determination to not become overwhelmed by the Spirit Bomb's power (near-death) & Jiren's determination to not become overwhelmed by Goku's new strength (PTSD). Both regained control of themselves & unlocked an even higher power & state of mind.

So what happened with Maroon during the tournament? Can Vegeta give a recount of it?

"If you meant by the fight with the herrscher he likely has been adapting every second. For a god who doesn't train just to better himself in combat, he is quick to adapt to different strategies during our training and seems to enjoy the battle."

Now that he said it, it feels like a friendlier Son Goku vs Vegeta rivalry has been brewing in that fight. It did made the prince wonder if the sun god is going to train more or not.

"No wonder he pushed Kakarot to Super Saiyan Blue. I am still however doubting that Sol Nova managed to cause him to go Ultra Instinct, albeit the omen variant. That kid didn't even manage to made me go Super Saiyan Blue Evolution."

🔥tournament of power (this is the most random thing i know)

It’s honestly a mess of an arc. Anime namely. Manga arc was just forgettable af

The recruitment / preliminary stuff is like 20+ episodes which imo it did not need to be at all. And the ToP itself just draaaaaaags. In OG DB, the tournaments served a narrative purpose. Testing Goku and Krillin and the “there’s always someone better,” Turtle v Crane rivalry and lead up to DKP, and finally the Goku v Piccolo rematch. ToP is just “survive and whoever loses dies” yet we all know the final wish is everyone gets revived anyway. You can say that about any arc but ToP is especially obvious

There’s some good moments, but man it blends together I can’t tell you much from it. 70+ new characters when like 60 of them are nameless fodder you’ll never remember let alone ever see again is just a strange choice. Yeah I get it, battle royale, but could’ve been done way better like cutting the roster in half.

UI Omen was cool af. I wish they kept that as the final design the whole time. But Goku ‘mastering’ it in like literally 20 minutes after being hit by his own Spirit Bomb (literally how? Also fuck Vegeta for not contributing) in universe while the gods took multiple eons and some still haven’t done it completely is just lame. So many instances in the ToP there are moments where Goku and Vegeta are about to lose “I’m all out of power I can’t fight” then power up to maximum 5 seconds after and are stronger than before.

Power scaling sucks. They changed how Saiyans get stronger in Super and it’s really frustrating. Goku in Blue gets bodied by Berserk Kale. Then in like 5 minutes after in universe, SS2 Goku is toying with both Kale and Caulifla in SS2, which are both stronger than Berserk Kale. Like huh? Make it make sense

And then SSBE aka Bluer sucks and legitimately don’t know how anyone could like that ugly overly bright form.

And now we’re almost 5 arcs later (counting movies) and we’ve literally never seen any of em again beyond mere mentions like “Jiren was tough” because imho they realized they fucked up and wanna move on lol

Lastly Jiren is the most boring foe they’ve ever faced and I’d rather watch Evolution because at least I can get entertainment out of that. All Jiren has going for him is saying it’s over when it’s not actually over, and the dub line “I trust no one, even dragons” because it’s a meme and I love it.

On that note though, the memes gave us stuff like “Hit’s clone” and El Hermano, Gohan Blanco, and Ultra Instinct Shaggy which was more fun than that whole arc even if it got spammed lol

What do you think of the recent Toyotaro interview where he says:

"WHIS IS ABLE TO USE UI WITHOUT ANY SPECIAL FORM, AND I WANT FANS TO SEE THAT GOKU IS GETTING CLOSER TO THAT FORM."

Is this a case of, good/decent idea, horrible execution?

Decent idea. Horrible execution. (But Toyo can make a decent idea look bad.)

Now to elaborate...

Goku does not have to turn off his emotions. Control of emotion is what is needed. Control is not the same as being emotionless. (This is true for both anime & manga)

Goku showing different emotions while in Mastered/True Ultra Instinct. He is able to show emotion, but its controlled emotion. Toyo is changing this and saying that Goku is emotionless while in MUI. That's a boldface lie.

Not even Angels are devoid of emotion, so why should Goku be emotionless? (UI Goku never was devoid of emotions. Toyotaro is falsely claiming Goku was emotionless to create the illusion of development )

Then, Victory Uchida says that Goku incorporates his emotions into the black-haired Ultra Instinct. Toyotaro agrees.

Becoming overwhelmed by your emotions has been shown to diminish the effect of UI. Toyotaro wrote in the Moro arc Goku saying that his emotions being all over the place during intense combat is why he can't get easily acquire Ultra Instinct. Then, we see Goku being calm & focused while Moro, who had absorbed Angelic abilities, couldn't handle the power of UI due to an untrained mind & body. He wants Goku to be scared yet, Goku is calm & level-headed. Once again, Ultra Instinct requires control of emotion. Not the absence of emotion.

Toyotaro has written that Whis said he's fundamentally different since he is an Angel. But, a mistake he made was in the previous arc with Merus. In this interview, Toyotaro says that Whis doesn't need any special transformation, yet he gave Merus an Angelic transformation of sorts. How does an Angel that naturally has UI need to transform in order use UI? Even with Merus being an Angel trainee still means he is an Angel that possesses Ultra Unstinct naturally. If he makes himself look mortal, there is no need to transform to "Angel form." So that statement alone from Toyo makes no sense from what he wrote himself.

Another thing in the interview is that Toyo says that Goku needs to be in UI at all times wether he is asleep or awake. But, when Goku is unconscious in CH 86, he transforms into True Ultra Instinct (silver-haired form). So what's the need for this "Goku's true Ultra Instinct" idea? There's no need for this new UI stuff.

Not to mention that in DBS CH 71, Whis said that Goku should be able to use UI in ANY FORM when his heart is calm. So having a calm heart is a requirement. But suddenly in chapter 85, Goku says that his heart isn't calm. That single line destroys the idea behind UI because it is used completely wrong.

Yes, silver-haired UI Goku looks different, his power is different, & his personality is different. Goku's personality was different with Super Saiyan too. SSJ Goku changed from his laid-back attitude to rageful. With UI, Goku remains calm & focused during battle while base Goku gets excited from battle.

+ this new UI form that they've called Goku's True Ultra Instinct is indeed a form. And Whis told Goku to not equate UI as a transformation. Yet here Goku is, using UI as a form & also he never got rid of the stamina issue that Whis told him he needs to overcome.

This change when using True UI (silver-haired) is in fact "normal." Its focus at the highest level. Goku is serious. This new emotion driven UI is a lame copy of Super Saiyan & is a regression of Goku & a rejection of what Ultra Instinct actually is.

Victory Uchida then says that "Goku's feelings & method of getting used to the form have changed." & Toyotaro agrees. But this is contradictory because having a calm heart & having control of your emotions is the requirement for UI. The deeper you go into this focused state, the greater your UI power becomes.

There is a such thing as calm/controlled anger. But Goku says in CH 85 that his heart is not calm. Toyotaro is going away from martial arts principles & regressing to the wild & unrestrained fighting style of Saiyans then calling it "progress."

This is Toyotaro doing damage control.

He's putting giant holes in his story & trying to cover them with band-aids
