Kurama The Retired Monster: A Look at Kurama's Canon Characterization and Impact
Kurama is one of the most popular characters in the decades old Yu Yu Hakusho fandom. Published in 1992 and dubbed into English in 2002, Yu Yu Hakusho is one of the most influential battle shounen anime. References are everywhere for this wonderful story about a delinquent that surprised the heavens and saved a little boy at the cost of his own life.
The series is my favorite of the old Toonami anime with its rebuke to the strict norms of Japanese society and its message about the grey tones of life.
It's in every character in one way or another, but Kurama tackles a trope I'm personally fascinated by: the retired criminal that is dragged back into his old life by circumstance.
This doesn't seem to be a common read of the character, though all the tropes are there. Youko Kurama was a vicious criminal who, after he was taken out of commission, essentially retired due to the love of a woman. While it was not planned, Shiori showing him love and a life outside of what he knew is what canonically happened and shaped his life. He chose, after she cut up her arms to save him from broken glass, to be the son she deserved rather than leaving as he planned.
When Shiori gets sick, Kurama is contacted by Hiei to join him on a heist in Spirit World for the Three Treasures. Given Kurama's nature as the exposition fairy, he is clearly aware of what those treasures are: The Orb of Bast, the Forlorn Hope, and the Shadow Sword. So, Kurama uses his experience as a thief and gains the Forlorn Hope for himself. As we know, the Forlorn Hope has a rule: It will grant your deepest wish in exchange for your life. Kurama considers this cost fair, since he clearly still feels guilty about stealing the son Minamino Shiori was supposed to have. In the dub, he comments about how some parents are devoured by their young, hinting at blaming himself for the condition Shiori is in. It is only because Yusuke intervened that Kurama is still alive, pulled out of his suicidal guilt spiral by Yusuke offering part of his own life to the mirror after seeing his own mother mourn him.
Kurama chooses to help Yusuke defeat Hiei, cementing him as one of the good guys and beginning his friendship with and repayment of Yusuke.
The Four Saint Beasts arc can be explained as part of Hiei and Kurama's parole. I won't linger on it, but I truly believe this is part of Kurama trying to be good, serving his sentence for what is likely the least of his crimes. In his fight with Genbu, Hiei talks about how he brought Kurama on because he'd rather have him as his ally than his enemy. This is one of the first instances of what Kurama's prior life looked like to others. He is a ruthless and intelligent fighter, and he is known for it. Before Two Shots, this implies Kurama had a reputation prior to his human life, one that lasted long enough that Hiei would have heard about it. (Based on later information, Hiei is less than a hundred years old and Kurama may have left Makai a thousand years ago, making Kurama's reputation incredibly significant.)
This reputation continues to assert itself in the Dark Tournament. The audience of the tournament continue to jeer at Kurama and Hiei for being demons fighting alongside humans, implying that they are well-known enough for this to be an issue. (In the manga, we get a page that shows that demons are total gossips and I love it.) We also have Kurama's fight with Ura Urashima, where Urashima comments that he believes this Kurama, our Kurama, might have taken on the name of the scary bastard that they still tell stories about. He is mistaken.
However, it is also in the Dark Tournament where we get his fight with Touya, where he asks Touya to be better than he was. This is where we see, wholeheartedly, that Kurama regrets who he once was. He regrets being the monster that Hiei and Yomi idolize. The nature of the series is that he needs to tap into that ruthlessness to survive, which is why he connects with Suzuki before the fight with Team Toguro. It is his desire to survive Karasu that returns him to that self.
Another scene that is incredibly important is the battle with Amanuma, the Gamemaster. As we know, for Amanuma to be defeated, he must be killed, as per the rules of his territory and the video game he uses. Amanuma is also eleven years old, manipulated into joining Sensui's crusade to destroy the human world for its evils and hypocrisies. Amanuma is a child, unaware of what Sensui's plans truly mean and as much as Kurama tries to say Amanuma chose this with the full understanding of an adult, it is clear he does not really believe it. Kurama is clearly upset by his choice, but he still makes it. There is no way out, no magic solution at the time. After Amanuma dies, Hiei implies that Kurama has killed children before, in his past life, but Kurama's grief is obvious. He reacts ruthlessly to Elder Toguro. His hands are bleeding from how much he hates the fact he made that choice and how much that decision is linked to the past he's clearly trying to leave behind.
The Three Kings arc is when this really begins to show up, though due to its truncated nature, it seems to go unnoticed. Yomi is essentially the end result of what happens when someone adopts Kurama's old views. Yomi is introduced to us as untrustworthy and brutal. Kurama's patience and ruthlessness became a guide to him as he became a king in the notoriously vicious Makai, after a botched assassination attempt left him blind. To be called to serve Yomi, Kurama has to face what he once was and how it impacted someone. Yomi didn't just look up to him, but he was also Kurama's victim: Kurama is the one who paid the assassin to kill him. Kurama also has to balance facing that with his desire to keep his mother and the Human World safe. Kurama's choice to betray Yomi and go along with Yusuke's cockamamie scheme can be read as a rejection of that past self as well as reinforcing that Kurama does not want to live that old life ever again. He chooses the human world, the world where he's not a vicious bandit and has loved ones.
The anime expands this by setting Kurama up against Shigure, the demon surgeon who gave Hiei his Jagan. This fight originally felt incredibly random: Shigure and Kurama don't have anything to do with each other. However, the fight with Shigure clicked once I realized that Shigure offers to restore Kurama back into who he once was. The entire fight is Kurama choosing to fight as who he is now, not rely on that past self he hates so much. At the end, Kurama even tells Yomi he doesn't throw anything away, but what he says in his little monologue is that he'll never be that version of himself again.
Kurama spends the whole series having to depend on the reputation and ruthlessness he cultivated as a bandit. He does it in life-or-death situations, not just randomly or for shits and giggles. He doesn't seem to enjoy his reputation, especially after living as Shiori's son. He looks more contemptuous of it, his face blank when he has to tap into it. He hates that he has to be that guy, that he was that guy. With the series over, it seems like he'll choose to stay human, to stay in the Human World for as long as he can.
Kurama's canon characterization draws him more in-line with the story's theme of growing up and healing due to the power of human connection. He is mostly retired from being a brutal monster and shows regret and guilt over the past, but by the end has mostly accepted who he once was, warts and all.

Heyyyy so idk if you write for male readers, but can you write a Kurama x Male!Reader(if not male then gender neutral at the very least) that takes place during the Dark Tournament Arc and Y/N sees Kurama in his demon form for the first time and is kinda like "OH NO HE'S HOT" and is just kinda panicking because they just KNOW that their face is about as red as a tomato right now and they don't know how to deal.
If you can't do this than feel free to ignore! Have a nice day!!! :D
Helloooo, thanks for the request! also yes I do write for male readers hehehehe~
This will be a oneshot and might be a little long(got carried away oop) but I hope u enjoy!
Also I had to rewatch the ep because I kinda forgot how it went, so I hope this was a little accurate~
Twisted the battle a little to fit the plot/request, hope thats fine :)
REMINDER: This character does not belong to me but belongs to Yoshihiro Togashi. This is all fictional work so please try not to take this too seriously :)
WARNING: A little suggestive but its Yoko come on lol
~Yoko Kurama x Male Reader~
Tumblr media
Currently it was Kurama vs Ura Urashima.
You were nervous of course, I mean you did have a huge crush on him so it'd be a shame if he died when you haven't confessed to him yet-
Yea...you definitely had a morbid way of thinking things.
''I'm sure Kurama's got this!'' Botan said smiling at you, an ''Huh?'' was all you responded and Botan spoke again ''I know you've got a BIG crush on him-'' Before you could let her finish her sentence you threw your hands on her mouth, shutting her up.
''Botann!'' You whisper-yell at her, glaring. ''Hehehehe~'' She just giggled and you just pulled your hands back focusing on the fight.
As soon as your gaze felt to the stadium you were shocked to see Kurama laying on the ground...in pain
Suddenly lots of smoke surrounded the stadium and you(and everyone else) couldn't see inside...
Now you were actually starting to worry.....
''K-Kurama....'' You whisper out his name and suddenly you felt a hug wave of powerful demon energy from the stadium....
'This energy...is it Kurama's or? No...it can't be...' You knew about Kurama's secret...
About him being a famous fox demon named 'Yoko'
But you haven't seen his demon form yet.
Until now
You heard a yell from the stadium and when the all the smoke subsided, you saw a low level demon dead.
Your eyes darted to the other side of the stadium and you swore that your heart skipped a beat...
There he stood in all his glory, beautiful sliver hair, ears and tail. Yea that guy was definitely the Shuichi you know, well his Yoko now-
''Beautiful...'' You couldn't help but whisper out, it seem like the demon fox heard you because he looked straight at you with a slight smirk present on his face.
You blush and excuse yourself to Botan and the other girls.
''Wait where you going!?'' Botan yelled through the crowd, ''J-Just gonna get some fresh air!'' You yell back at her pushing through the crowd, all the while trying to hide your red face.
Botan huffed and went back to Shizuru, Yukina and Keiko
''Hm...his probably flustered seeing Kurama's demon form'' Shizuru said smirking a bit.
''Oh I knew he loved Kurama!'' Botan yelled happily. All the while Keiko and Yukina were just a tad confused.
Back to you, you were now inside of your teams locker room, and you were hiding your face in your hands while thinking of ways to calm your beating heart down, when suddenly the door opened.
You looked by the door and widened your eyes with panic, there was Yoko standing there proudly and....smirking?
This man does things to you....
''Y-Yoko! Ah...are you injured?'' You ask the fox demon standing from the bench you were sitting on.
''Barely'' He responded, god his voice was as sweet as honey and deep as chocolate....he was so hot..his ams look so strong-
''Hm...do you like staring at me?'' You heard him say as you broke you gaze from his arms.
''S-Sorry....'' You mumbled out still looking away from him, ''You know...I don't know what Shuichi saw in you that he was smitten by you..'' Yoko said as he walked closer to you.
Your eyes widened in shocked at this and you looked at him with a blush, ''W-What...?'' You ask unsure of what to respond.
Yoko chuckled and rest his hand on the wall beside you, successfully trapping you in his gaze, looking at you with something present in his eyes you can't quite understand.
Yoko then chuckled and started to speak again ''Now I know why he was so smitten by you...'' He said with a smirk.
You at him confused yet flustered as he spoke again ''Your beautiful for a guy...'' He said grabbing your chin.
You were at a lost for words and very much red faced by now, you never expected your long time crush(Well now Yoko) likes you...
Oh the things this man makes you feel....
You were broken away from your thoughts as Yoko started leaning more closer at your face.....was he gonna kiss you??
You freeze at the spot as Yoko captured your lips....
Oh my god....
His lips is so soft...you felt like you were on cloud nine right now....
You soon closed your eyes and kissed Yoko back. After a few minutes of kissing, you both soon broke apart and Yoko looked at you with love...
Wait....
''Your gay?'' You suddenly ask with a curious face on, Yoko laughed at that and said ''Well...only Shuichi can answer that...but..I like you so isn't that enough?'' He said with a smile.
''I guess...'' You mumble out, Yoko smiled again and stepped away from you speaking once again ''I'll see you sometime again my treasure~'' He said and suddenly smoke filled the locket room.
You coughed out ad cleared the smoke away calling out Yoko's name multiple times. ''I'm afraid Yoko's time has expire'' You heard a familiar voice say.
Your Vision soon cleared out and you saw Shuichi in all his glory smiling at you. ''Y-Your back!'' You yell happily.
He chuckled and held your hands looking at you lovingly, ''I apologize for not confessing sooner...I wanted to wait for the right time until Yoko took control of course...'' He said with a sigh.
You just smile and held his hands tighter, ''Its fine...I'm just happy to know you like me ahahahaha...'' You say with a laugh.
''Then...would you accept me as your boyfriend, and you as my boyfriend?'' He asked the question you were waiting for.
You smiled happily and hugged him tightly while yelling lots yeses~
You soon let go of him and you both walked back to the arena, ''I promise after this tournament I'll take you on a proper date'' Shuichi said with a smile.
You smile back him and kissed him on the cheek.....
''I'll be waiting then''
Meanwhile the others:
''Whats taking Kurama so long? We have a tournament to win!'' Kuwabara yelled angrily, Botan heard this(Somehow) and yelled from the crowd.
''LET KURAMA AND Y/N TAKE THEIR TIME!'' She yelled making the girls(Expect Shizuru) sweat drop at this..
Lots of teasing from Botan is waiting for you Y/n~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Done!~
In the den-o novel you translated, hana refers to urataros as urashima, which is not a nickname that's ever used for him in japanese? she typically just refers to him as ura, urataros or like, something similar to how momo calls him a perverted turtle in the show. (I'm more just curious if this is a localized nickname/name for him in the Chinese version of den-o media?)
I can only assume, since Ura is based off of the tale of Urashimataro- (Or maybe that was just the translation? The OG once I used with in Chinese, so sorry things could be pretty wonky here)
Kurama is one of the main characters of YuYu Hakusho. A lot of people have questions pertaining to how strong Kurama really is. Kurama is amongst the most popular charaters in the series. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmYNVGD4EH8 Skills Now, Kurama is incredibly sharp and tactful when dealing with enemies. I would say he is one of if not the most intelligent characters in the entire series. He is extremely analytical when battling enemies. This is one of the reasons why he is able to overcome adversity in nearly impossible situations and win against the opponent. He has several different skillsets to use in battle. I would say he has good hand to hand combat skills although it is not his specialty as he uses them the least compared to other characters. He has great speed and agility along with a lot of pain tolerance and durability. His weapons are plant based and he uses a variety plants to defeat enemies in battle. Overall, he is extremely adept and skillful as a fighter. How does he rank among the elite characters? Now, in the last arc of YuYu Hakusho, Kurama in his human form is considered to be a lower S class character. While Yoko Kurama ie the demon version of Kurama is considered to be an upper S class character. The gap between lower S class and upper S class characters is more than lower S class and lower E class characters. According to different sources, Kurama is put at different levels in terms of power. Some sources put him in the upper A category while some place him at the S/upper S category. Sensui is considered to be a lower S class character and he seems to easily defeat Kurama after Kurama enters the demon world in Yoko's form. However, the transformation of Kurama from human to demon is only a change in appearance upon entering the demon world and not a real transformation to Yoko Kurama. So, the form of Kurama that is battling Sensui along with Hiei and Kuwabara is not really Yoko. Kurama and Hiei both when battling Sensui are A class demons. Interestingly Kuwabara with the dimensional sword is considered to be a lower S class fighter in the manga, and in the anime only manages to reach the middle A class level. Toguro in the Dark Tournament arc is supposed to be an upper B class demon. So, most likely all the protagonists at the end of the arc including Kuwabara could've probably defeated him. Yoko Kurama is perhaps the toughest fighter in the Dark Tournament Arc and should've defeated Toguro had he faced him one on one whether you consider him to be an A class or an S class fighter. Kurama looses to Kujou in the 3rd round, although I believe he didn't use his Yoko Kurama form in that particular battle. Yomi has high regards for Yoko Kurama in terms of combat ability. Yoko Kurama is only seen battling twice apart from Ura Urashima which he completely dominates in the anime. One is during his fight with Karasu and the other one being against Shigure. He nearly manages to kill Karasu and is transformed back to human form. The same happens in Shigure fight. I believe Kurama did look like Yoko in his fight against Sensui, but it was not really Yoko fighting Sensui. You can notice that the transformation of Kurama from human to demon version is quite drastic takes a lot of time, unlike what happens prior to his fight with Sensui. To be honest, we don't get to see Yoko fighting a proper battle as both the times(against Shigure and Karasu) he is transformed back to his human version. Also, Kurama probably didn't transform to Yoko his demon version while fighting Kujou as Kurama decided not to use that form again. So, he is yet to loose a battle. I would say Yoko Kurama is definitely an upper S class demon, however I would place him below Raizen, Mukuro and Yomi. Yusuke, Raizen's friends and Hiei too can also be considered to be stronger than Yoko Kurama although it is not really certain as to who would win in a battle if Yoko fought against any of these characters.
Overall, I would say Yoko Kurama is the most calculating and strategic fighter in the series. He might not be that strong in terms of raw strength or power, but he is definitely among the top characters in YuYu Hakusho and can definitely pose a threat to the strongest characters in YuYu Hakusho.
Hyakki Yagyo: Ashiya Doman and Osakabehime
Tumblr media
It seems my theory was right that Doman is no longer human and it make since as the story seems to take place centuries after the Heian Period and he couldn't still be alive unless he found a way or something happened to him to prolong his life. Anyway, I translated some of the dialogue between Doman and Osakabehime. The princess that Doman is referring to is Osakabehime.
Doman: ``The Giant Centipede is not a monster that the Princess and I can fight head-on. That's why I erected multiple barriers in Feng Shui Village and the castle to hide the Princess from the Giant Centipede.''
Osakabehime: Doman! Didn't you call me to Feng Shui Village out of goodwill to protect Hyakkirou? Did you... lie to me!?
Doman: Is there something good or bad about a former human who turned into a yokai? It's all my ego that wanted the princess. I don't care what happens to the others as long as the princess is safe.
Osakabehime: Doman...I missed it! It's time for us to get out of here, then, let's get out of here!...Hey, Ohikari. Take me to the giant centipede... It's a funeral battle at Hyakkiro!
Narrator: ``At that moment when Doman froze up at the words of Princess Osakabehime,... Doman's shikigami for scouting appeared, and even more surprised, he uttered the words. A giant centipede appears off the coast of Urashima! After hearing the news from the shikigami, Doman takes out a paper doll from Osakabehime's pocket while restraining Osakabehime, who is shouting.
Doman: ``Heading to the Ura Island!''. He's my shikigami. If you want to go to the Giant Centipede... follow him. He'll guide you to the giant centipede!
So Doman is in love with a fox woman and has a lot of fox shikigami.
just some info straight from the wiki i want to have here:
As Yoko Kurama, he is much more cruel, vindictive, and merciless, retaining all of his intellectual capabilities. He enjoys toying with his enemies in a sadistic manner, as shown in the semi-final rounds of the Dark Tournament Competition and against Karasu. The transformation into Yoko was attained inadvertently earlier in the tournament with the age regression technique of Ura Urashima (through Suzuki). (Meaning that his empathy is only existent when he's in human form; without his literal humanity, Kurama is indeed even more cutthroat than Hiei) Later on in the series after Yusuke's defeat at the hands of Sensui, Kurama seems to take on his demon form, though he states it is just a change in physical appearance due to his exposure to substantial amounts of demon energy (a product of the tunnel's completion). However, he retains his human personality without becoming cruel and merciless. In the anime, it is portrayed that he and his demon form have different personalities. This is due to the fact that while a demon, his ruthless demeanor along with the change in his voice, make Kurama seem like an entirely different person. However, this misconception is cleared when Kurama states that his demonic spirit, merged with the human body of Minamino Shuichi over time, and that his transformation is only between his human and demon body. So rather than being a demon inhabiting a human body, he "is both the demon Kurama as well as the human Minamino Shuichi."
Team Masho vs. Team Uraotogi
Previously: Dr. Ichigaki vs. Rokuyukai
Tumblr media
Mashoutsukai cheats and their match is held directly after Uraotogi's previous. In addition, Onji and Shishi are tented by Ruka the Enchantress. Beautiful Suzuka has gone over strategy with his team the previous night. Jin, a consummate bro, sits out.
Round 1: Gama vs. Makintaro. They're both Bakken tier at best. In the manga, Makintaro isn't even able to regrow his limbs, although anime Makintaro can trash whatever body part Gama paints. Kurama also has black hair in the comic so that shit's barely hc, so Makintaro wins. He had to cut off like six or seven arms and a leg tho
Round 2: Bakken vs Ura Urashima. Bakken is probably physically stronger than Ura, but can he set up his mist/kill Ura before Ura sets up his force field and opens the Idun Box? Is Ura skilled enough with his fishing line to maintain his distance? This can go so many ways, but Ura's attack actually hurt Kurama, while Bakken beat the shit out of an unconscious Kurama and did little damage. Ura fishes for Bakken in the fog and deals a lethal blow, no Idun needed
Fwiw I know Onji would give them different items for different fights, but we have no examples, so it would be even more speculation
Round 3: Toya vs. Kuro Momotaro. Toya legit was trying to kill an entirely immobile, defenseless Kurama from step one and still failed. Kuro uses one sphere and bodies the little ice twink
Round 4: Risho vs. Kuro Momotaro. My dude lost to an injured Kuwabara. Like fucking Byakko only lost to himself, let's be honest, so this is Kuwabara's first real win (kendo stick man doesn't count; he fights with a hunk of wood, he's not a serious person). And his big finishing move is just more clay for his armor of clay. One sphere. Ez. By this time Jin has already left. None of this was worth his time and that island was actually tiny af anyway
Team Masho sucks more than Team Uraotogi wins. Kurama no diff'd Gama and Toya was so cumbrained he talked to the cute fox boy for half an episode instead of realizing his lethal strikes weren't killing him, so Kuro's abs have a similar effect. Jin could at least win by ring out against Kuro and then sweep the others (if he doesn't fly into any of Ura's fishing lines), but Team Uraotogi are such scumbags that he'd have no interest -- ears not wiggling/10
Next: Team Rokuyukai vs. Team Uraotogi for the chance to fight the Saint Beasts
Honest opinions on YYH villains. Go!
Already did a few of them, so we’ll make this a bit faster.
Tarukane - Scum of the Earth. Gross head, and jowls.
Sakyo - Cunning as hell, largely psychopathic, and a confusing character. I worried for Shizuru if she actually wound up with him. To his own admission, he tortured and killed animals, has murdered tons of people and his goal was to open a portal to demon world, which could have flooded the world with death and destruction. A moment of kindness in saving Shizuru was nice and all, but he’s still a bad guy through and through.
Saint Beasts - I’ll lump these guys together. Cool designs and abilities for each of them, Seiryuu and Suzaku are largely dickheads, but their plan was interesting although easily countered. They may have infected some humans with Makai insects and caused some property damage, but their whole plan centered around a flute not breaking. Pretty weak. Granted they were strong and apparently feared, but half of them went down incredibly easily. A bit underwhelming.
Rando - I thought his design was cool as hell, and I loved his premise of hunting down 100 human psychics to learn their techniques, master them instantly, and use that ability to kill the psychic. Shrinking Kuwabara, then snapping his arms one at a time, was truly sadistic. And that sadism is what got him beat. If he’d just killed Yusuke quick and easy, he would have won, but he was playing around. Dumbass.
Sensui - Probably the best villain of the series. At one point, I felt really bad for this guy. A human, led to believe that demons were the true evil of the world, living only to kill and destroy humans. Then finds out that the humans he was fighting to protect, could be and were just as disgusting and horrible as the lies he was fed about demons. Shattered that man’s mind so badly, he went on a rampage, killed every human he could get his hands on in the Black Black Clubs torture chamber, then developed seven personalities to try and cope with the mental damage. Though as much as I felt bad for him in that sense, he is the cause of multiple people’s deaths during the Chapter Black saga. Tried to kill Mitarai, caused serious harm to Botan and Shizuru, caused Game Master, Murata, and Gourmet’s deaths, killed Yusuke…all for his goal of going to Demon World so he could die there. His plan was well executed, I’ll give him that, but dammit if it wasn’t annoying as hell all over. He purposefully showed several members of his gang the Chapter Black video, to turn them against humanity and help with his plan. His guilt over killing potentially innocent demons, to save possibly horrible humans, put millions of innocent humans at risk, and that’s not cool dude.
Itsuki - I really don’t have a lot to say about him. Creepy, twisted guy. Togashi said Itsuki was one of his favorite characters, and he wanted to show a lot more of his sick side…and I’m kind of glad we didn’t get to see it. Happily watched Sensui descent into madness, and that certainly makes him an asshole in his own rights.
Sniper - Cool look, but the edginess is too much. His territory is cool. Loved Hiei stabbing him so effortlessly, and he’s lucky to be alive. Post Chapter Black, he seems to beat/kill some guys who killed a cat, so that’s cool. Good guy for that.
Doctor - What a bitch. Stop dragging innocent people, let alone doctors, nurses, and sick people, into your twisted fight. Glad he got the shit punched out of him by Yusuke. At least after all the Sensui stuff, he seems to actually get back to helping people. Cool abilities though.
Gourmet - Gross. Though no one deserves to have Elder Toguro growing inside his stomach and slowly consuming his body from the inside out. That was pretty fucked up. And he got his head cut in half by Kurama. Oof. Sad time for Gourmet.
Game Master - I applaud this kids talent for video games. As a game lover myself, it was nice to see games be brought to life. However, he’s a stupid kid who was easily tricked, and died because of it. Glad he was revived by Koenma, but still, stupid kid for falling so easily for “Cool Mr. Sensui’s” trick.
Zeru - Cocky dick. Strong though. Hiei had no choice but to use the dragon on him.Roto - Cowardly dick.
Dr. Ichigaki - Massive ugly dick. Ultra fucked up to poison someone, then coerce their subordinates to become your slaves with the promise of healing said person…and not doing it. Glad he’s dead. Risho - Pinocchio looking dick.Gama - Was pretty cool actually. Creative ability, fought to his death for the cause he believed in, even if it wasn’t really worth dying over.
Makintaro - Ha. Why’d he freak out of his arm being cut off so badly if he could just regrow the damn thing?
Ura Urashima - Ha. Felt bad he was killed by his teammate though. Shishi’s an asshole.
Kuro Momotaro - Stop smacking your gum asshole! Was surprised he was able to put up such a good fight against a very weakened Hiei, even if it was only because of those dango.
Did I miss anyone?
So can't stop thinking about how Kurama would react to his s/o being insecure on her body/weight etc even if she has been told before (By Kurama and others) she has no reason to worry when they get physical.... Kurama would be so sweet but his demon side I can see him getting a bit agressive if she did thi while he is in Yoko form.👀 Love to see your take on this if possible ~
I am not sure how long this ask in my inbox, because I am quite inactive on this site hahaha, I am very sorry for the late reply!
I agree with you that normal Kurama is very sweet about it, but I kinda disagree with his Yoko form, unless you mean his true Yoko form before he fused with his human self. Becase after the fusion he has more control about this form and is not as rough and forward like he used to be (I always love to compare his two Yoko selfs, his true Yoko self, before he fused, can be seen during the Dark Tournament after he got hit by that aging attack from Ura Urashima. That was the true Yoko. His "Yoko" form / side after he fused with his human self can be seen while he and the others chased Sensui and he had full control over his Yoko self. God, he is so cute with his Yoko self and Kuramas personality. Ah sorry I drifted away xD) Hahaha sorry for the long text, I just love to analyse Kurama in all sorts ♥
As for your request, I'll go with Kurama and Youko Kurama before he fused with this body, if it's alright? ♥
Kurama / Shuuichi Minamino
♥ Kurama is the most understanding boyfriend you can imagine. Like, he is never annoyed or distressed by your continous doubts about his acceptance for your body. Many other men could get a bit clumsy, when it comes to comforting body issues, but Kurama has everything under control
♥ like, he would never force you to wear something that would make you feel uncomfortable or even ugly, even though he (and his friends) never thought you are ugly in the first place
♥ nevertheless, Kurama is the kind of man, that doesn't go for the looks in the first place. So even if he would agree with you on your insecurities about yourself, he would not even think to leave your side or love someone other than you. It's your sweet and kind personality that made him fall for you. And nothing can change his feelings, even if he wake up someday and your shape was like a whale or something.
♥ he would start to take it slowly to touch your body when you are uncomfortable while being physical. If you hide your body, he approach you slowly, whispering in your ear that you don't need to hide your body from him. You are his, like he is yours, so no secrets about your bodies
♥ "*Starts tracing up your leg and moves his hand on your hip, squeezing it gently* You don't have to feel ashamed for your curves, [Y/n]. Try to see it positive: It's more lovable skin for me to touch and kiss."
♥ His blunt comment would make you blush madly and before you could answer, his lips would be on yours, kissing you tenderly while his hands continue to roam your body
♥ it may take a while to get used to it, but soon you are loving your curves es much as he does.
Youko Kurama
♥ Youko has some other methods in making you shut up about your body. He either cut you off with aggressive kisses, growling and hissing between kisses that you are perfect the way you are and if you won't stop complaining he has to punish you not that you mind him punishing you
♥ since he and his bandits are capable of stealing anything they want, Youko could also think of stealing a body-changing-potion from the Demon Palace where Kuronue died. It is said that they harbor a potion that can make your body thin and shape it at your will. Wanna have bigger boobs? drink the potion. Do you hate your big nose? Drink the potion. Do you want him to have a bigger- Eh, you get my point.
♥ You would be really grateful that he will put his life in so much danger just to get you something, that would make you feel better with your body. Though you also start to have more insecurities because you think hes getting the potion because he has problems with your body too?
♥ Youko is quite forward and moody when it comes to arguments, so if you continue to piss him off with false interpretations or your insecurities he will force feed you the potion. Though he would not force it if you are totally against it. But its his way in making you shut up
♥ honestly, I think he would state bluntly: "If you are not satisfied with your body weight, work for it to change it. Eat nutricious food, work out or drink that damn potion! You are the only one who seems to hate your body. I don't mind your weight at all, I am demon you know. I still can lift you up against a wall even if you weight 900 pounds~" "Yoko, that is not helpful at all."
sorry who is maya?
A fair question as she's an extremely minor character. I hope you don't mind if I copy-paste from the YYH wikia however. This is also on my about page for Maya!
   Also look at her, she deserves all the good things in her life. ♥
Maya Kitajima is a classmate of Kurama's junior high school one year before the start of the series. She first appeared in Yu Yu Hakusho Manga vol. 7, chapter 9.
S he is infatuated with Shuichi Minamino and also has a keen spiritual perception. She notices Kurama talking to a demon and he lies to her and denies this. Afterwards she reveals her love for him, and he replies that he is sorry, Kurama is attacked by Hiei, who thought him to be Yatsude's henchman. As they move the battle away from Maya, she gets kidnapped by one of Yatsude's real henchmen. Four hours later, Hiei wakes up in Kurama's room, recovered from his wounds. They then go to an abandoned doll factory to face Yatsude. At the brink of death, he reveals that Maya is still alive. To keep her safe, Kurama uses a flower to erase her memory of the recent happenings and of her love for him. Maya is not seen again in the original series. However, during the Dark Tournament fight against Ura Urashima, Kurama has flashbacks of his childhood where a Junior High and child version of Maya appear— this is only in the manga.
However, I personally headcanon the following:
However, it has been years since that day. She has started to awaken to her powers once again... It remains to be seen however if she’ll become somebody powerful or not. But she seems to remember a boy with hair like fire who smelled of roses. She seems to be aware of bad things before they happen, is this just an innate sense or something more?
