The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu reveals a remake of the original Utawarerumono, which is fully titled Utawarerumono: Chiriyuku Mono e no Komoriuta, for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. It will launch on April 26, 2018 in Japan.

The game will be available in the following three editions:

Standard Edition – 6,800 yen

Premium Edition – 9,800 yen (includes a “Splendid Days of the Tuskuru Imperial Princess” anime Blu-ray which tells the story of a young Kuon and in which many people of Tuskuru appears, as well as a soundtrack CD and visual book)

Trilogy Box – 12,000 yen (likely includes Utawarerumono: Chiriyuku Mono e no Komoriuta, Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception, and Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth)

Aquaplus Limited Box – 29,800 yen

The remake will feature the following changes:

Every scene has been enhanced. All scenes are in high-definition.

The opening movie has been made high-resolution.

There is a Special Extended Mode with enhanced music.

Battles are set on fully 3D fields.

The magazine also mentions that Aquaplus president Naoya Shimokawa has a lot of interest in PlayStation VR, but support for Utawarerumono: Chiriyuku Mono e no Komoriuta is not likely.

This remake is was announced with the tagline, “The starting point is now, to a new beginning.” It is said that various developments are planned beginning with this title.

The game was originally planned for release between January and March, but it was moved to April to give it more breathing room.

A new title will be announced soon after this game’s release. From now on, they will be releasing related titles with good tempo.

The opening movie has been made high-resolution, but Suara’s “Kimi Dake no Tabiji” is still in place.

“Special Extended Mode” features background music from the Utawarerumono series’ games and anime selected to suit each scene.

The original background music has been completely rearranged, as have the opening and ending themes, and songs have been re-recorded.

There are no additional characters or episodes.

Original "Utawarerumono" Being Remade for PS4 and PS Vita

Utawarerumono fans will soon be able to play a full remake of the first entry in the series, which originally debuted on PlayStation 2 in 2006 as an updated take on developer Leaf's 2002 adult release on PC. The new version, titled Utawarerumono: Chiriyuku Mono e no Komoriuta, is coming to PlayStation 4 and PS Vita in Japan on April 26, 2018. 

    This new take on the tactical visual novel features battles on full 3D fields, a high-resolution version of the opening movie, enhancements and high-definition upgrades for all scenes, and a Special Extended Mode featuring enhanced music. 

  The Utawarerumono remake will be available in a standard edition; a ¥9,800 (about $86) premium edition with an anime Blu-ray, soundtrack, and visual book; a ¥12,000 ($105) trilogy box; and a ¥29,800 ($261) Aquaplus limited box.
