Pearl Jam with Special Guests Tribe After Tribe
May 5, 1992 at the Glenn Miller Ballroom
CU Campus/Boulder
1992 Pearl Jam Multi-Signed, Inscribed Set List (3 Signatures), Ticket, Backstage Passes (2) and Concert Poster - Featuring Eddie Vedder, Stone Gossard, Dave Abbruzzese - JSA LOA
Description
It's hard to describe unless you witnessed it yourself. Still, Grunge broke Heavy and Hair Metal's stranglehold over popular music seemingly overnight after Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" overtook the airwaves and MTV, which led us to Pearl Jam. Fronted by Eddie Veddar, Pearl Jam emerged from the fertile Seattle music scene, and their debut, Ten, reverberated around the world as a clarion call. Powered by the hits "Alive," "Jeremy," and "Evenflow," the band rocketed to superstardom and is credited with solidifying alternative music's place during the 1990s.
Offered is a ticket stub and poster, set list, and two VIP passes from Pearl Jam's May 5, 1992, show at the Glen Miller Ballroom in Boulder, Colorado. The set list for the concert, promoted by 106.7 KAZY, contains the songs "Evenflow," "Oceans," "Jeremy," "Alive," "Black," State of Love and Trust (which appeared on the Singles soundtrack), "Once," and "Porch." The setlist tracks, penned in black marker by an unknown hand, are signed by Eddie Veddar, Stone Gossard, and Dave Abbruzzese with a black marker. An LOA from JSA accompanies the setlist for the signatures. The poster contains light edge and corner wear and minimal scuffing. The VIP passes display wear typical of handling, while the stub is in overall fair to good condition.

Jungkook The Bodyguard

“What do you think Bang Pd wants with us?” Hobi asks. “I don’t know.” Jin says. “Maybe is about the new album or how we are going to the airport in two weeks.” Namjoon says thinking. “Anyway I would prefer being at home sleeping.” Yoongi says tired. “Your home you mean the studio.” Jimin says annoying Yoongi making everyone laugh. “I think is about the new guy.” Taehyung says getting everyone’s attention. “What new guy?” Namjoon asks. “I hear the other workers talking about some new handsome guy.” Taehyung continues. “Handsome! Please! No one is better than Worldwide Handsome!” Jin says posing making everyone sigh except Jimin who laughs. They kept talking, until their manager enter with Bang PD.
“Good morning boys.” Bang PD says, and they get up and bow to him. “Let’s go straight to why I ask you guys here.” He says while everyone sits down. “Since we are getting some trouble with the “fans” we hired a bodyguard to help all of you. Come in!” Bang PD says and the six members of BTS look at the door and see very built, strong, huge boy entering the room and bowing to them. “I’m Jeon Jungkook, it’s nice to meet you all.” He says with a big innocent bunny smile. “He looks 10 years younger than me!” Jin says shocked. “He is.” Bang PD says. “Is nice to meet you, Jungkook.” Namjoon says smiling to the kid.
Two Days Later
Jungkook adapted well with the group, even being the bodyguard, he and everyone else felt he was part of the group, the missing piece, so the six members treated Jungkook like he was one of them and because of that all of them start to become best friends making Jungkook with them all the time, job or no job.
The six members were getting ready for some photoshoot and Jungkook was there with them, they all were getting their makeup done and some were filming their usual bangtan bombs.
Jungkook was watching everyone next to a sleeping Yoongi who was sitting on the couch, Jimin and Taehyung were filming around the room. “Here we have Yoongi sleeping as always.” Jimin says poking his cheek almost making Jungkook laugh but since his on the job he had to be professional. “And this is, our handsome, bodyguard, Jungkook!” Jimin says dramatically introduction Jungkook to their fans for the first time. “Jungkook smile to our Army’s!” Taehyung says behind the camera, and Jungkook smiles his famous bunny smile making the two members smile too then Jimin and Taehyung went to meet the other members.
“Wow! Look at this!” Hobi says looking at his phone and showing to the others. “Oh! Jungkook is famous now!” Namjoon says smiling to the confused boy. “Our Army’s can’t stop talking about Jungkook beautiful bunny smile!” Hobi says laughing now showing to Jungkook who was blushing. “They have good taste.” Jungkook says now confident making everyone in the room laugh. “They are asking if he’s a new member.” Jin says looking through his phone. “Let’s take a photo!” Taehyung says and Jimin wakes up Yoongi for the photo.
“Our personal bodyguard, golden maknae, Jeon Jungkook!” Jimin posts it. “Let’s go guys!” One worker says to the members, and they went back to work, Jungkook following them, smiling big.
Next Day
Everyone was doing their own things inside the company except Taehyung and Jimin who were trying to convince Jungkook to go outside just walk around, and Jungkook sighing went with them outside.
Taehyung was filming them walking through the street, and they see a park. “Let’s seat there!” Taehyung says and the three man sits watching the sky and relaxing until Jimin sees a lake right in front of them with ducks. “Take pictures of me.” Jimin says getting near the lake and pose and was Jungkook who started taking pictures of Jimin, taking the opportunity Taehyung films the two of them.
“Jimin, be careful with the ducks.” Jungkook says amused seeing Jimin trying to pet the ducks. “It’s fine they are nice.” Jimin says trying to catch the baby ducks. “Jimin let’s go it’s time to go.” Jungkook says looking at a very angry mom duck. “Not yet!” Jimin says not caring. “Jimin, calmly walk towards me.” Jungkook says serious and Jimin finally sees the mom duck, Taehyung is behind camera trying not to laugh. “Nice ducky!” Jimin says backing off but the mom duck starts sprinting towards him. “HAAAA!” Jimin screams when is thrown to Jungkook shoulder who’s running from the duck also screaming and this time Taehyung can’t contain the laugh while looking at the pair. “Hyungs are going to love this.” Taehyung thinks.
Later that night Taehyung cuts the video to the part Jungkook throws Jimin on his shoulder and both run from the duck on Twitter and Army loved it and are loving Jungkook.
On the fourth day of Jungkook work he was having a nap at Yoongi studio, because he’s the only person Yoongi allows coming in the studio, when was waked up by this phone ringing. “Hello?” He answers it. “Jungkook? It’s Namjoon, could you come get me please?” Namjoon asks. “Of course, where are you?” Jungkook asks getting up sleepy. “I don’t know. I got lost.” Namjoon laughs nervously and Jungkook looks at Yoongi shocked. “At do you see around you?” Jungkook asks and Namjoon explains where he is. “I know where you are. Just stay there.” Jungkook says hanging up. “Namjoon lost isn’t he?” Yoongi asks laughing. “YUP!” Jungkook screams running out of his studio and running trying to leave as quick as he could.
Later Namjoon posts a photo of him and Jungkook. “Got lost but Jungkook saved me!” Namjoon wrote with the photo on Twitter and the Army’s feel even more in love with the cute and muscular bodyguard.
A week has passed since he started working with BTS and today was his first break day but Hoseok had is first day of filming his videoclip. “I can go visit him for a bit.” Jungkook says and leaves his home.
“Look who is here! Jungkookie!” Hoseok screams seeing Jungkook with a black hoodie with the hood on his head, smiling big. “Hi!” Jungkook says and Hoseok hugs the younger man, happy. “It’s your break! What are you doing here?” Hoseok says. “I bought this.” Jungkook says showing a paper bag, both men sit and Hoseok opens the bag to see some churros. “CHURROS!” Hoseok screams happy.
“Thank you for coming and for bringing churros Jungkook!” Hoseok says before the bodyguard leaves. “No problem.”Jungkook says and before he left him and Hoseok take a picture of them making a heart with churros, Army loved the picture.
Today Jungkook is going to have a tough day since BTS has to go through the airport, in the middle of the sea full of Army’s.
“You guys ready?” BTS Manager asks the boys who nod. “Jungkook ready?” He asks. “Let’s go.” Jungkook says very serious leaving the car and open the door and help the six members coming out of the van.
The moment they enter the airport camera flashes and screaming began, they were screaming BTS names but not only them. “JUNGKOOK! KOOKIE! BUNNY BODYGUARD!” Some fans screamed for Jungkook who was trying not to blush in the middle of protecting the six members. “You have fans Jungkookie!” Jin who was the closest to him says laughing. Jungkook smiles to Jin and everyone tries to walk safely with the members laughing to Jungkook and him to stay professional until some fans try to pull Jin to them. “Jungkook!” Jin quickly say scared and Jungkook quickly take him and moved him away from the fans and safely near the other members. “OH! Jungkook so quick!” “And look at those muscles his so strong!” Fans quickly screamed seeing him save Jin, BTS and the rest of the crew quickly enter their V.I.P lounge safe and sound. “Thank you, Jungkook.” Jin says. “Just doing my job.” Jungkook smiles to the oldest.
“Ahahaha! Look guys! Jungkook is a meme now!” Taehyung says laughing looking at his phone. The members and Jungkook all look at Taehyung’s phone and see the meme, Jungkook serious face versus Jungkook bunny smile. “Ahahaha! They look like two different persons!” Jimin says laughing. “Jungkook Duality, I can’t decide which one is the hottest. Ahahahah!” Hoseok reads the comment making Jungkook blush. “Jungkook is as famous as us.” Yoongi smirks to their bodyguard. “Well it’s safe to say Jungkook is now part of the group.” Namjoon says and all agree making Jungkook even more embarrassed.

So...My V.I.P Backstage Experience + The Show Experience
So now that i’m…somewhat well rested (also hungover), thought i’d share the whole experience. I especially wanted to talk about the V.I.P experience just to stop all the bashing over what i guess happened in Vancouver.
So full disclosure, this was my first Lady Gaga show ever, and I decided to splurge. But i’ve also been a fan for a very long time, and i know what the “Meet & Greets” were. I’d also like to point out that this Backstage Pass was never promoted as a meet and greet, but we did get to meet and greet her.
So right at the beginning, we get a Joanne backpack, and a lanyard that also doubles as a charger (yes, that’s not a myth lol), also candy lol.
The first thing we got to do was go into catering for dinner, we had about a half an hour to eat. Some of the dancers and crew members were even eating in there with us as well which was cool! (wearing super bowl sweaters!)
From there, we got a backstage tour from a man who’s been part of the crew since the Monster Ball tour. He showed us all the behind the scenes actions, talked about how many trucks it took to run this show. Showed us all the boxes that contained props, lighting etc.
He then took us directly backstage, showed us how Gaga and the dancers come and go. Showed us where she and the dancers do their quick costume changes. Took us onto the floor and showed us each stage (without revealing how she got to them, as to not spoil those who haven’t seen it).
While we waited for the band to prepare for soundcheck, he sat us down and did a Q&A with us for any questions about what it was like on the road for him. He is definitely a family man, and talked about how sad it is for some of the crew that don’t get to see their family for 6 months. We also learned how much of a pain it is to cross the boarder and how the crew often have to sit and wait for ¾ hours through customs with their 27 trucks. (Gaga of course flies out). And then, the most amazing thing happened. A couple of us catch the crew member on the radio saying “is she aware there are fans on the floor”, and then we see Lady Gaga come out on to the floor, and like…most of the people in the VIP are like…completely oblivious, and kind of old, but the four of us are like…”how are they not noticing this, do we tell them? lets not tell them. So they don’t freak out and scare her away.” LOL. She’s just casually like..filming the floor, and then out come her parents. I’m in fucking shock at this point. Her crew seem LIVID.So she then comes up to all of us, linked arms with her father, and her mother on her side and says hello to all of us! Asking if we’re having a good time and just chit chatting! I WAS SO SHOOK. She introduced us to her parents, it was honestly the most adorable thing ever. Her father was like “i’ve seen you before” and i just smiled, of course i wouldn’t dare correct him lmao (literally have never been to a show). I got to have such a great conversation with her mom about the Born This Way foundation as well. She’s such an amazing woman i have to tell you.And then they left and we got to see the band do their soundcheck, and we’re like…trying to figure out what each song was, and jammin out. It was amazing. Dancing In Circles had me shook haha.So then, after that we get to go to the VIP lounge, which was AMAZING. They had a set up with the words Joanne, the typewriter, pictures etc. A bar where we could get a free drink, and an AMAZING DJ. Around 7:30 we have to prepare to go backstage again for the photo op. But Gaga was running a bit late, with hair, make up, costume etc.One of her gorgeous security guys just gives us the run down, can’t hug, touch her etc. Not because “celebrity”, but because they can’t risk having hair and make up damaged because it would make the show more late, which is totally fair. We were divided into 4 groups of 6. (24 of us in total). And each got to go in there and take pictures with her. She was SO kind, and talked to my group for a minute. Of course it was rushed because i think the countdown on the stage had already begun. By the time we actually got to our seats there was about 3 minutes of the countdown left, and then the show began! The show, was absolutely AMAZING. She was her bad ass self, giving her all the entire time. THE STAGE omg, the special effects were insane, probably the most extravagant stage she’s ever had. The main stage had so many layers and levels, teetering at times while the choreography was going down which was so epic. And there were 3 other stages stretched across the arena that she’d get to from hovering catwalks, i love that she did this so that everyone from all sides of the arena would get to see her up close. So our seats were stage left, first row so we had a perfect view, from my understanding according to one of the other V.I.P’s who went to the Vancouver show and had general admission for it, it was kind of a bummer when the catwalks went down cause you couldn’t see anything if they were right over you, and they would be blocking your view, of all the other stages, until they raised up again, and of course if you wanted to hold your front spot from the main stage, you’re gonna miss out on her Piano numbers on the other side of the venue, thankfully from our seats we could see every angle. If you’ve seen my clips, you’ll notice most of them are short. I really wanted to be in the moment as much as possible so i kept my filming to a minimum. Some songs i didn’t even record (like the opening) just so i could take it all in, and freakin Come to Mama was a MOMENT. She was hilarious introducing the song “if you aren’t for the equality movement…i mean i can’t imagine you wouldn’t be if you’re here but if not come to mama!” lmao. And, she got so emotional talking about Sonja during Edge of Glory, and gave a speech about what love is supposed to be, how it wasn’t always about checking up on your partner on their social media. “i watched a man love a woman til her last dying breath, that’s what love is about.” She had to stop a couple of times as well to wipe her tears. All her interlude scenes were so good! I hope someone eventually uploads the HD versions cause they were flawless.Of course, she ended the show with Million Reasons, and i cried because it was so stunning. She walked across the catwalks, “My name is Joanne, and i’m not so sure where i came from, and i don’t know exactly where i’m going but i know i got to get the hell out of here” - and despite the emotional moment, she got humorous and stoped to laugh when we were all singing along and talked about how she hopes with each album there’s at least one song everyone knows the lyrics to, and clearly we know AT LEAST one lol.All in all, amazing show. I HOPE at least one of these shows has a professional live stream, or dare we hope for a DVD (i doubt it, but it certainly deserves one or the other given how extravagant the set up is).Anyway, that was my experience. I am hungover, emotionally exhausted, and also flying from cloud nine. Best night of my life.

Viva Mexico #2

Archeological site of Tulum.
--
After picking up Elisa in Cancún we spent a few days between Playa Del Carmen and the camping Pancho Villa on the paradisiac beach of Tulum, a few steps away from the archeological site. We really enjoyed the peninsula, meeting incredible people, chilling, with the water, the wind, the heat and of course the mosquitoes, we took back the way towards Chiapas.

Pancho Villa entre jungle et mer. Between jungle and sea.

--
First stop, and not the slightest, Valladolid. During my first passage, I had got acquainted with Edouardo alias "Lalo" owner of the restaurant/bar/karaoke "Chispa" with whom the feeling had passed very well. We returned to visit him and were welcomed as kings. On the second evening, Lalo proposed to host us in his home, we stayed a few days with him, and we were lucky to attend to the show of light of Chichen Itza as VIP and a guided tour of cenotes around Valladolid.

Elisa, Lalo boss of the restaurant “la Chispa” who became our friend and I.

Chichén Itzá’s main pyramid by night, dressed with traditional maya dress for the occasion.
--
We finally took the minibus to Mérida. We wandered on the main square, "Zocalo" of the city where stands the cathedral. At this a moment appeared at us an old man of the most modest appearance,. He looked like a maya fellow, wearing sandals and dressed in worn out clothes. He was a guide during many years but his activity came to an end because of his painful knees. After a few minutes of chatting, he tells us the story of the city and its cathedral. He guides us towards the Mayan market which is located at the right of the cathedral, right under the arches. He introduced us to the man who sells hammocks.
At this moment, we're both thinking that he is going to ask us for some money, contrary to all expectations, he stays with us five minutes, greets us in a most courteous way and goes away in the same mystic way with which he appeared. Finally, we leave the market, full of hesitations and spend a few hours on Zocalo between the clergymen, the salesmen, the families and lovers. We decide to flip the coin and finally come back there.
We leave Merida with two really nice Maya hammocks for eight hundred pesos both. Afterward, we don’t know how we could have done without it. I would like to thank this old man for guiding us in the right way…

We spend a horrible night in the bus which leads us up to a cross-road, twenty kilometers from Palenque, took a minibus to downtown where we bought ropes for our hammocks, food and water for the campsite. We go to the campsite of the jaguar situated in the entrance of the archeological site where we found our canadian friend, Dan, met a few days earlier in the campsite Pancho Villa in Tulum. Next day Lauren, her boyfriend Daniel and Jo Wilfried (F-X) joined us to explore the jungle for the first time. We enjoy and discover the luxuriant jungle, its streams and his fauna outside the tourist paths. We take advantage of our teacher cards to visit twice the historic site which is very impressive. After an incredible day of swimming and jumping in the incredible Roberto Barrios's waterfalls site (From which we have unfortunately no photo) we decide to hit the road towards San Cristóbal de las Casas.
Les singes s’incrustent dans le camping...
Monkeys invinting themselves in “El jaguar” camping...

The whole crew and the “crazy gringo”, our guide in the lost part of the archeological site. Here, we are at the top of a pyramid wrapped up with the vegetation.

A little bit of tourism never hurt nobody, right?

Tucked in scarfs in San Cristobal to face the mountains cold.
--
Numerous people described me this city as "Mecca" of Chiapas with an incredible atmosphere. However I found nothing there which delighted me, set apart the firebrand whom you can see this against, named Delmar … A town of mountain where all the marchants " of small business sector(crafts) " gathers(collects), that they are Mexican where adventurer(fighter) " to hope to sell them goods …
Can be the call(appeal) of Pacific Ocean being just behind these mountain he(it) was too pressing to let me appreciate(estimate) this folklore … We leave F-X who goes towards the Great Lake more south.
We finally arrive on Pacific Coast of Chiapas after numerous connections Tuxtla-Gutierez, Arriaga, Tonala, Puerto Arista: searching for a surfboard, in vain.
Hitchiking to Boca Del Cielo where the water pours since the heights of the Sierra of Chiapas in Pacific Ocean forming Lagoons estuaries and islands where has developed fishermen's communities which also live on the coming of some misled tourists or on locals coming to get fresh ideas on the beach.
We decide to go to explore just a little further south, intrigued by the name of the village Boca del Cielo. We hitchhiked on the unique road of the peninsula. The landscape is composed almost only of mangoes and mountain in the background. We arrive at Boca del cielo and again have to cross the river to join the sea.

Coco sailor telling us about Jesus Christ and Jehovah witnesses...

Early in the morning somewhere lost in chiapas coast.

--
Finding no surfboard, we made our road towards Salina Cruz, harbor city lined by numerous spots sheltering World class waves.

Playa Azul without swell...

--
We took the taxi from downtown to the famous spot of Playa Azul and funded a palapa with a nice family to host us.

The Point.
--
We learn thanks to the children what a « Sazon » mango is, which is still green and eaten with some hot pepper. In return, we pass on some knowledge of history and geography, give them a course of photo and a session of swing-hammock. Because of the strike, it has been two months since they went to school.
The next day, Fito was back with a board for me. After a guided visit of spots by Fito with our friends Brésiliens (among whom the famosisimo Punta Conejo not to confuse with the point almost so known Punta Conejo situated in Baja California Norte), he suggested us to go to Salina Cruz. After the session, we went to the Hotel of Salina's center for a swim in the pool, a Hotel which belongs to Fito's mother and where Brazilians were hosted.

I wish I would send rollers like that when i’m 50 years old.... Marcelo killing it in Barra de la Cruz!
--
We met once again Marcello and Fabio, our Brazilian friends, and we shared a good session captured by Elisa from the shore. Once in Huatulco, we took advantage of the air-conditioned offered by the hotel and we even make a trip in scooter with the breeze by the end of day!

Flavio the other brazilian friend having a lot of fun with the little bowl that offered us the spot of Barra.
--
A heat wave strikes the southwest of Mexico reaching temperatures already difficult to support by the locals, then for us... It slowed down a little bit our journey and Elisa was struck by a good fever, which was certainly due to the heat, the strength of the sun and many many mosquito's bites. We joined Fito in Huatulco who took us for a snorkel in a small creek before dropping us down the road leading to Puerto Angel and Zipolite, going back to the airport to pick up his surfers customers.
We hitchhiked from the main road leading to Zipolite, a place known for its « peaceful » atmosphere, but also for being one of the only nudist beach of Mexico. The director of primary school finally took us to destination. He explained us the reasons of the really long strike of the teachers in Oaxaca. We started a very interesting discussion about the Mexican politics.

Fito and Elisa after a good snorkel session. Is the rope gonna break again?

Zipolite, surf and corona.

He dropped us in the hotel which was recommended by Fito and we enjoyed the sunset. An occasion for me to try my 6 ' 8 " in waves just a little more consequent than in Barra de la Cruz and then get refreshed with a good corona. We finally headed to Puerto Escondido next morning.

Picture of Adolfo “Fito’ from Mareno surf tours in Salina Cruz. For the story he dropped two times this bomb and broke a 6″8 before managing to get in the barrel with a 5″10 and two fins... Pure Madness and Genius.
