AURELIUS' VERSES.
☀️ MAIN VERSE: baldur's gate 3 (forgotten realms)
act one: aurelius is not with the party during this act. instead, he’s traveling with a small group of oath of devotion paladins en route to the shadow-cursed lands. along the way, they cross paths with jaheira and the harpers, helping them through a difficult situation.
act two: at the last light inn, the harpers and paladins have joined forces. aurelius dawnweaver leads the paladins and stands at jaheira’s side, ready to strike at her command. during a confrontation, karma—one of the party’s barbarians—is injured. aurelius heals her under the party’s tense watch. in that moment, both he and karma hear the name kayleth—his sister, stolen by cyric cultists as a baby. he realizes karma is kayleth.
act three: with ketheric thorm defeated and his mission fulfilled, aurelius parts ways with his paladins. though their oath remains, he chooses to stay with the party. wanting to lend his blade directly in the final stretch to baldur’s gate. before they part, he orders his men to ride ahead, regroup in the city, and deliver word to the dawnweaver family: kayleth lives. their lost daughter has been found. he earns a medal of valor for aiding the dissolve of shar's curse, and continues to travel on with the party to save the realm.
☀️ UNDETERMINED VERSE: default verse for unknown or unwritten timelines.
quick summary: i’m either tossing him into your world, or i straight-up have no idea what to do with him yet lol.

Headcanon sheet: Tennant!Malekith
Since my vision for him has changed slight since first playing him I thought I’d make an official reference sheet.
Name: Malekith Alias (if any): Technically Malekith began as an alias but so old is he now he considers it his name.  Others include: Jack Tyler and (formally) the Doctor Nickname: The Accursed, my lord, my dark lord, Mal, the Oncoming Storm, Jack, Tyler Age: older than this universe as the MCU knows it. Appearance:
Tumblr media
A well-groomed and slightly older David Tennant from the 10th Doctor we all know. Alternates between clean-shaven and stubble. There’s an ever-present intensity in his eyes that alternates between dangerous or wild.
Malekith is the only Dark Elf with regenerative capabilities. These are leftover from his life as a Time Lord and is a heavily guarded secret. Because he has not regenerated since the Time War, his ability is still programmed to his original makeup which is why his tenth regeneration looks like a Time Lord. Race: Gallifreyan (formally “Dark Elf”) Gender: male. (While I’m aware the Doctor is canonically gender neutral, Malekith’s age and experience leave him identifying as male.) Sexuality: Asexualish, Panromantic Height: 5′10″ Physique:
Tumblr media
Stronger than any Time Lord but weaker than a Dark Elf.  Able to punch through solid objects/walls with enough force, though it will sting. Could survive a hit from Mjolnir but not without serious injury. I think we all know this but to reiterate: Malekith has two hearts.
Style of dress: What he wears changes depending on where he is but he usually dresses in dark colors. Easier to clean up and/or hide stains. That said this version of Malekith opts for human clothing: easier to blend in, no matter where in the galaxy he is. Default wardrobe: almost exclusively black. Long or short-sleeved black top with a leather jacket or blazer overtop. Black jeans and black boots.
Work wardrobe: A slight variation of the above. Collared button-down shirt, preferably black but will wear gray or white if need be. Used to include a tie but abandoned it after a while. Black or gray slacks and boots.
All his overcoats contain extra interior pockets.
Occupation:  This varies from thread to thread. If set on Earth he’s usually working for the London Torchwood branch. Anywhere else, he’s more the renegade warrior.  Choice of weapons: Knives, daggers and short swords. Carries some combination concealed on his person at all times.  Method of combat:  This started out as a way to adapt as full-length swords aren’t so easily hidden. Now his preferences usually depend on temperament but if given a choice he’ll usually go for close combat. Malekith is deceptively strong and fast and finding thrill in exercising these abilities. Also, close-quarters allow a better alleviation of his rage, aggression and power/blood lust.
Worst traits: Aggressive, cold and callous at times, careless, meticulous, domineering, impulsive, hypocritical, impatient/quick to anger, cryptic, evasive, obsessive, patronizing, sarcastic, unpredictable, critical at times, murderous, vengeful
Positive traits: Intelligent, determined, ambitious, loyal, protective, paternal (to certain individuals), supportive of those he cares about (though not always direct or apparent), considerate (tempered), warm (to certain individuals)
Fears/dislikes: Fears - Loss, abandonment, betrayal, letting others in/close relationships, being vulnerable, the unknown, failure, death (but only to a point), living (for complicated reasons), forgetting and/or making peace with his past... Dislikes - their Time Lord appearance, being touched, social interaction, isolation, that voice
Malekith is a hypocrite. If that weren’t clear. For a time he also feared discovery of his identity, not that many would believe it. For any that would it risked his chances of revenge...while revenge was still applicable. With Asgard gone, who knows...
Mental/Physical disabilities: Anxiety, depression, paranoia, superiority complex and serious post traumatic stress disorder that usually manifests itself as rage. Difficulty processing and articulating emotion. Also the power/blood lust mentioned above.   He still hears the Doctor in his head but whether imagined or a form of conscience remains undetermined. Because he came into the world through trauma he is quicker to lose patience with the voice and will on occasion argue back at it.
Other headcanons:
Malekith regenerated shortly after being crushed by his ship. It was an involuntary decision spurned by anger and a desire to live. He’d almost forgotten he could regenerate at all until he saw the golden light. He had no idea he’d regenerate with a Time Lord’s face.
His regeneration cycles carried over from his former life: as evolution changed the would-be Gallifrey into Svartalfheim, Dark Elves never developed the ability.
Tennant!Malekith sounds like the 10th Doctor, same accent and everything but he maintains his formal speech patterns.
Goes by “Jack Tyler” in any verse he’s on Earth. Guess where he pulled the names from.
For a little while after regenerating he wore tinted glasses: a way to dim the light after so many centuries of living in the dark.
He takes a long--long--time to adjust to his new/old face and even more resistant than Elf!Malekith at being called/calling himself a Time Lord or the Doctor.
His body temperature is closer to that of a Time Lord’s than a Dark Elf’s.
Aspirin is still toxic and he is more susceptible to ginger than his former face.
He still feels very deeply and still loves Jack and Rose but their memory and memories of the Doctor are far more painful, almost toxic and so he’ll avoid dwelling on that portion of his past when at all possible. As stated previously, this regeneration has trouble processing and digesting his emotions.
He does not carry the same guilt and responsibility Malekith does regarding the path his people and planet took. He runs from it.
Malekith still possesses a fierce paternal streak. It’s buried but still there.
Like Elf!Malekith, his mind is closed to the Timestream. He also lost his Time Lord telepathy. These traits may or may not come back...
Malekith still possesses the Doctor’s fathomless knowledge of languages. That said, he’s spent more time now isolated on Svartalfheim than traveling as the Doctor. As such, some of that knowledge has gotten rusty, and I wouldn’t be surprised if speaking and especially reading different languages might take a little time to recall.
In storylines he’s unaware of Asgard’s face Malekith is still hellbent on revenge. That said, he will not return to Svartalfheim. He’s far more afraid of his people discovering what happened to him (let alone not believing, imprisoning and killing him) than he is confident in asking for allegiance.
Malekith is not afraid of Thanos.
Malekith is not above “die trying.” One might argue it’s his underlying motivation overall...
Following the above headcanon, Malekith fights as hard and at times as recklessly as he does in part because he has nothing left to lose.
Tennant!Malekith does not have his sonic screwdriver. He left it on Svartalfheim.
He is very much resistant to and quite possibly afraid of all things Gallifreyan, especially the TARDIS (adding this for paradoxical reasons.)
He still fancies chips and other street-vending Midgardian food.
He constantly pushes boundaries at Torchwood but kept around for three primary reasons:
a) He is definitely not an ordinary human and that makes him an invaluable asset b) He’s clearly had some kind of ‘military’ experience and despite his temper creates a basic respect (or at least understanding) of command c) He is waaaaay too dangerous to be left alone and instead of locking him up, which may not prove effective anyway, it’s easier and more productive to employ him

A Thing on Verses in an Attempt to Be Organized With Them (mostly for myself)
VERSE ≫ ( growth is optional; choose wisely. )           P3 verse; includes Karin’s entire involvement with the game events even before she is involved with SEES. So, tiny, intimidating first-year here to kick butt and take names, lived with her mother prior to moving into the dorms, is on a path of self-destruction until some much-needed intervening is had.
VERSE ≫ ( against the unknown i'm ready to fight. )           Post P3 but pre P4. Karin’s second year at Gekkoukan, and likely the majority of her third year.
VERSE ≫ ( taking pride from fear. )           P4 verse; Karin attends Gekkoukan for her last year, occasionally visits her sister who’s studying in Inaba.
VERSE ≫ ( I'm here to see it through. )           P5 verse; an up-and-coming MMA fighter taking temporary residence in Shibuya for promotional and publicity reasons.
VERSE ≫ ( another world awaits! )           Undetermined verse; the default if I don’t know quite where to place the thread. Includes most crossovers for the time being.
VERSE ≫ ( it's a golden sheep show. )           Catherine verse; moved out of Japan with her mother to come to America and start a new life there. Karin is much more timid and has been forced to stop practicing mixed martial arts by her mother due to her “violent tendencies”. She’s often at the Stray Sheep at night to be the designated driver for her mom.
VERSE ≫ ( farewell to hope & peace. )           RW//BY verse; a rouge huntress who previously dropped out of Signal Academy for unknown reasons. Travels by herself and trains herself, which is an unfortunate blow to her skill set. [ I’ve got headcanons for this on the way in a separate post-- ]

The Road to Understanding
New Story has been published on https://enzaime.com/the-road-to-understanding/
The Road to Understanding
For patients and families, genetic counselors help navigate the uncharted path through treatment of rare genetic disorders. Megan Miceli From the beginning, Megan Miceli’s parents knew something wasn’t right.
Megan wasn’t Amie Miceli’s first child. She knew there were certain milestones every newborn should reach and that every parent looks forward to. But Megan was floppy — literally floppy, Amie says. She wouldn’t lift her arms or head. She didn’t cry. She barely ate. She wasn’t growing. And what scared Amie most was that no one could tell her why.
At every check-up, Megan’s pediatrician insisted she was just a little behind and that she’d catch up. But months passed without improvement. “At five months I took her in again, and they actually wanted me to wait longer,” Amie recalls. “But I told them I didn’t want to wait. Something just wasn’t right, and I was scared because she wasn’t developing.”
Around the same time, Amie spoke with a friend whose child was diagnosed with autism. That friend recommended Kennedy Krieger. And so, still uncertain of what the problem was — but determined to do something — Amie and her husband Nick brought Megan for physical therapy at Kennedy Krieger, where she was evaluated and diagnosed with hypotonia, or decreased muscle tone. But that was just a symptom of her overall condition, which was still undetermined. A month later they met with Dr. Alec Hoon, who recommended that the family meet pediatric neurologist Dr. Ali Fatemi for an evaluation.
Dr. Hoon also directed them to the Institute’s genetic counseling office — often the first stop for parents of children who either are suspected of having or have recently been diagnosed with a genetic disorder. While many hospitals offer genetic counseling, at Kennedy Krieger the physicians are well-versed in rare conditions and genetic anomalies, and the post-diagnostic services families often need can all be found under one roof. “I think we do have a knowledge of certain conditions here that gives us a leg up on other centers, with the emphasis being neurogenetics,” says genetic counselor Rebecca McClellan. “We also have solid knowledge of developmental pediatrics.”
The breadth of services offered by the Institute’s four genetic counselors varies, depending on need. For families of children with more common diagnoses, genetic counseling may simply offer a better understanding of their child’s condition and perhaps some information about educational and community resources. But then there are the more complicated cases, like Megan.
For the Miceli family, meeting with McClellan was the beginning of a 15-month journey to find out what was wrong with their daughter and how they could help her.
CALLING DOCTOR GOOGLE
From the moment their child is diagnosed with a developmental disorder, most parents’ first inclination is to learn everything about it. And of course, the fastest and most accessible way to do so is on the Internet. “I call it Dr. Google,” says Kennedy Krieger genetic counselor Julie Cohen. But Dr. Google can be somewhat ominous and potentially misleading, and parents often walk away from their computer with even more anxiety and fear.
Megan with Genetic CounselorsIn Megan’s case, her parents could have spent infinite hours online and found nothing. Instead, a battery of genetic tests ordered by Dr. Fatemi — everything from MRIs and EKGs, to ultrasounds of every vital organ — eventually revealed that she had something called gene microdeletion syndrome. In layman’s terms, it means she lacks certain bits of genetic material that are crucial to development. Occurring in about one out of 50,000 births, the condition is somewhat unusual on its own. But it also takes many forms, and Megan’s condition seems to be among the rarest of the rare — there are, perhaps, only six other known cases in the world. As such, her physicians have little means of predicting what her future holds, and there is little information — online or otherwise — about the disorder.
Such uncertainty can be overwhelming for families, especially when coupled with the day-to-day rigors of raising a child with such complex needs and issues, says Cohen. Add to that the vast and often frightening array of information available online, and you have the recipe for some very scared and anxious parents.
ENTER THE GENETIC COUNSELOR
“There are different ways that genetic counselors become involved in each patient’s care,” explains Cohen, who recently took over as the Micelis’ genetic counselor. “Sometimes it’s right from the get-go, when they’re referred here because of concerns about developmental delay. They realize right away that it could be genetic and want us involved from the beginning. Other times we become involved after a diagnosis is reached.”
No matter what the circumstances, every family’s experience can be equal parts unique and similar. Each family has questions and may be plagued by uncertainty. Typically, other family members need to be tested to determine whether future children or family members are at risk. And then there’s the complicated process of coordinating care and interpreting the sea of confusing information constantly thrown at parents. All are aspects in which genetic counselors can play a vital role, not only in patient care, but also by providing peace of mind as parents battle against the unknown.
“Genetic counselors are uniquely trained to explain complex scientific information in a meaningful way,” Cohen says. “Our role is complementary to physicians. A physician may not always have the time to spend an hour explaining a child’s chromosome condition. But as genetic counselors, we have that time set aside, and it’s part of our training, and it’s what we’re here for.”
NOW WHAT? PREPARING FOR THE UNEXPECTED
Of course, the rarer and lesser-known the condition, the more extensive the explanation. At such times, Cohen says, it becomes important for the genetic counselor to do his or her homework, and for the family to be forthcoming about any worrisome information they unearth during the inevitable Google search.
“With a rare or unknown genetic condition often comes the feeling of being alone, as if they’re the only person on the planet who has a child with this condition,” Cohen says. It’s not always far from the truth. “From a provider point of view, we know lots and lots of information about Down syndrome and what it means for the child. For these rarer conditions we don’t.”
Such was the case for the Miceli family, for whom finally finding a diagnosis only raised more questions. “We were excited they finally found it, but there was that fear, now what happens? Is this life threatening?” Amie Miceli recalls. “We didn’t know what to expect.”
What they did know is that the diagnosis was just that — a diagnosis, not a cure. New symptoms and challenges may crop up as she ages — issues that no one can predict and that will require treatment on a case-by-case basis. But, armed with a little more knowledge, the Micelis feel better prepared to face the unexpected and a future that will most likely hold even more doctors’ visits, as well as lots of therapy. Fortunately, all of these services are available right at the Institute, under the same umbrella as Megan’s physician and genetic counselor.
Megan with Toys”It can be really hard trying to figure everything out and do the right thing for Megan so she can benefit in every way possible. But whenever we leave there, we understand everything,” Amie says. “It’s not just a bunch of confusing medical terms. Julie really breaks it down for us and that’s really helped.”
