I haven't drawn Vahaadi in over 10 months; I had to use references to remind me what he looks like. WHEEZE. Loose Canon is officially 2 years old!

A flat-color commission of the client’s characters Spark and Vahaadi! Spark is a lovable-geek-turned-fiery-superhero via Vahaadi’s wish-granting powers, and now they travel between books doing hero stuff. A team-up for the ages!

(Part of Spark’s wish gave her long, supernaturally luxurious hair, and I feel this was not only an excellent but an ESSENTIAL application of magic.)

The outfit Vahaadi sported briefly in the most recent update of Loose Canon was designed by MMtheMayo on deviantArt. :D I'll be showing off more of her designs for him in the future!

✨Loose Canon update!✨ Between changing jobs, moving, and a complicated injury, I'm behind schedule. As the next slated episode is the FINALE for season 1, I have chosen not to rush it and will be postponing a few weeks. Thanks for all your support!

Loose Canon launched 10/5, so 5/10 is “Loose Canon Switch Day”! I’m launching this tradition with a classic body swap. Spark and Vahaadi are oddly unperturbed by this arrangement. 😶

More Vahaadi notes! Smoky ghost tails are to djinn what wrinkles and osteoporosis are to humans. Vahaadi's contract has rendered his physical age in stasis, so he'll keep his gams in perpetuity.

Lack of appealing RL reference led me to believe that Vahaadi’s small, dense goatee was unnatural, so I changed it to an anchor style. It’s been a nightmare to draw. I’m going back to my original instinct: the very small, diamond-shaped look. I decided I don’t care if my magical cartoon djinni is “unrealistic.” 😝

Vahaadi’s “boxy” jaw is more obvious in the 3/4 view. My default style is to taper the cheek bone directly into the chin, but Vahaadi’s face is more square. (this is his “do not want” expression, haha)

One of the earliest (2010?) pitches for Loose Canon, this iteration featured Spark as a steampunk demolition expert, and was the first time we considered the idea that her superpowers are granted by Vahaadi instead of a "classic" genetic mutation.

THIS. KILLS. ME!!! This widdle Vahaadi was drawn by a GaiaOnline artist named kalcedonyx way back before I'd settled on his final color scheme. I just cannot handle the CUTE!

A scrapped concept piece for the Hero and the Thrall chapter featuring a very ominous Vahaadi. I gave up on it for a few reasons, but this color key is interesting enough to share.

I wanted to take this piece further, but I've lost my mojo for it. I like it enough as is, and since I so infrequently drag myself through the process of coloring him, I thought I'd share.
