Faire pour partager, accueillir, enrichir, révéler, protéger, réparer, accompagner, ouvrir... et non plus  faire non pas pour limiter, recouvrir, oublier, exclure, posséder... Continuer de construire dans un monde abimé réclame d’inventer d’autres façons d’être et de faire en architecture, paysage et urbanisme. Cela est vrai tant du côté de la maitrise d’œuvre, que de la commande ou de la recherche. Afin d’ouvrir et de mesurer les déplacements à opérer, nous proposons de débattre à partir d’un article de Joan de Tronto qui s’adresse à l’architecture autour de cinq aspects essentiels dont celle-ci aurait la charge : faire attention à (caring about) ; prendre soin de (caring for) ; donner(care giving), recevoir(care receiving) et rendre (caring with).

louis braille designed the system in 1824 after becoming blinded at the age of 3

valentin hauy was the first person to emboss paper to allow blind people to read. but he would emboss actual letters whuch was complicated and then became simplified

moontype is the only exception, where it retains the outlines of roman letters and more easy for people who have been blinded lter in life to learn.

louis braille learned a system of tangible writing dots, known as night writing and thought to be intended for night time use on the battle field communications.

Maria Theresia von Paradis was born in Vienna on May 15, 1759. Her father, Joseph Anton von Paradis, was Imperial Secretary of Commerce under Empress Maria Theresa, after whom young Maria was named. When Maria was two, she began losing her eyesight, and by the age of five she was blind.

She studied with Antonio Salieri (who composed an organ concerto for her in 1773), Leopold Kozeluch, and Karl Frieberth. Treatments by Anton Mesmer from 1776 to 1777 offered hope her vision might partially be restored, but after 1777 she had to resign herself to a life of total blindness.

By this time, she had already established a career as a pianist and singer in Viennese concert halls and salons. Moreover, she had gained respect from the most prominent composers and musicians of the day, including Mozart. By some accounts, his Piano Concerto No. 18 was written for her.

In 1783 and 1784 she toured Paris, London, and various German cities. She helped found a school for the blind with Valentin Hauy in 1785. Paradis would not turn to composition until the 1780s: the first work that can accurately be attributed to her is Zwölf Lieder auf ihrer Reise in Musik gesetzt, composed between 1784-86. The process of composition for Paradis was not simple, but she was aided by a composition board developed by Johann Riedinger, who served as librettist for several of her stage works, including Ariadne und Bacchus in 1791 and Der Schulkandidat in 1792.

By the late 1780s, Paradis was devoting less time to performance and more to composition. She wrote five operas between 1789 and 1797, as well as numerous other works. Unfortunately, many of her scores have been lost, including two piano concertos and 12 piano sonatas. By 1800 Paradis had begun focusing on teaching, and in 1808 she founded a music school for girls in Vienna.

La médiathèque Michel Crépeau de La Rochelle présente l’exposition Fragiles de la céramiste Dora Stanczel du 1er au 30 mars 2022. Les Fragiles est le résultat d’un travail collaboratif entre la céramiste Dora Stanczel et l’association Valentin Haüy de Charente-Maritime qui œuvre en faveur des personnes aveugles et malvoyantes et de leur inclusion. Déconstruire plutôt que démolir … puis réemployer équipements, matériaux et ouvrages au sein d’une construction future. Cette habitude pourtant plusieurs fois séculaire a largement disparu des pratiques modernes au profit d’une mise en décharge systématique … À l’heure de l’impératif écologique, le Réemploi revient sur le devant de la scène comme un outil pertinent, voire indispensable. Au côté d’acteurs de la filière (architectes, ingénieurs, artisans, commanditaires …), nous vous proposons un débat collectif sur l’actualité de cette démarche et ses potentialités quant à l’invention du patrimoine de demain.
