Vanathi's Misery

Vanathi's mind reeled woth the several whispers she had heard behind her back. Varini, Niravathi, Tharika, Sendhiru, everyone of Kundhavai Pirattiyar's handmaidens whispered ill about her behind her back.

"I agree with Niravathi! That snake managed to take Ilavarasar and Ilaiya Piratti's attention."

"If Ilaiya Piratti intends to marry this foolish Vanathi to Ponniyin Selvare, I will poison and kill her!"

She closed her eyes as tears escaped them when she reminisced how venomously Varini has said all those words.

"Its all because of you, you foolish girl! Had you not dropped the Valakku Pattu the Prince would have been alive and safe. You are a misfortune, an ill omen!! Why don't you die!?"

Niravathi's hateful words when Ponniyin Selvar's news of drowning reached to Pazhayarai rang inside her ears. Clasping her palms around her ears, she shut her eyes tightly, she cried out.

"Niravathi is probably right. It was my fault that I panicked and dropped the Pattu." Shr cried out.

Currently, Vanathi was at Anaimamgalam of Nagaipattinam. She has came with Ilaiya Piratti Kundhavai and has sacrificed her sleep by serving an ill Arulmozhi Varman day and night. She didn't let him have even a slight discomfort and cared for him, while crying in despair when he was again in the clutches of deep slumber. Those moments when he woke up were happiest moments, and every second when he was asleep felt like Yugas.

"Vanarkula Ilavarasan," Vandiyadevan, who was talking with Poonguzhali and Amudhan turned around to look at Vanathi who stood there with a slightly puffed face and red nose, and immediately concluded she was crying.

"Yes, Ammani? What brings you here?" Vandiyadevan asked while Poonguzhali humphed silently. Vanathi noticed this and looked at Vandiyadevan.

"Do you know where Akka is?"

"Ilaiyapiratti?" Vandiyadevan was confused as to why Vanathi is asking him, when she was basically her shadow. "I saw her going inside her guest Chambers with Ilavarasar, Ilavarasi. Weren't you with her?" He asked.

"No, I was at the back, at Nandhi Mandapam." She said and turned around, walking away.

"Vandiyadeva, what do you think happened to Ilavarasi?" Senthan asked, a bit concerned for her.

Before Vandiyadevan could reply, Poonguzhali said, "What would happen Amudha! She must be thinking about Ponniyin Selvan." She said with a scrunched face and rolled her eyes. Vanathi heard her hateful voice too and ran towards the river that joined Samudhra Rajan ahead. Sitting on the banks she started weeping heavily.

"Mahadeva! Why, pray tell me, why did you wrote heights of misfortune in my Kundali? What was my fault? Why did my Father sacrificed his life in Eezham War when I was born and attained Veera gathi? Why my Mother had to leave me all alone in this world? Why did I casted my misfortune upon Ponniyin Selvar that he suffered from delirious fever?"

Vanathi cried out all of her frustrations as her eyes fell upon the flowing water beneath. Wiping her tears harshly, she stood up with hardened eyes. God knows what roamed in her mind as she walked towards the river and slowly stepped inside, going ahead.

"Amudha, what are you looking at?" Poonguzhali asked when she saw Senthan's blown wide eyes. "Ilavarasi Vanathi! She's drowning!!" Senthan cried making Poonguzhali whip her head towards river. "I must go and tell Ilaiyapiratti and Ilavarasar." Senthan turned to go but Poonguzhali stopped him.

"Why does that matter to you?" She asked him casually making him look at her in disbelief.

"Don't let your jealousy make you a murderer Poonguzhali." Senthan's hard voice took her by surprise as he ran upstairs and immediately was met with Vandiyadevan, Kundhavai and Arulmozhivarman.

"Ilaiyapiratti! Ilavarasae! Ilavarasi Vanathi– she's drowning!"

Before Kundhavai and Vandiyadevan could react, Arulmozhivarman barelled outside and not even acknowledge Poonguzhali, as he ran ahead and dove into the water.

Bruhh you are so talented! Can I ask for a Vandhiya Varman or a Vandhiya Sendhan fanart? ( Vandhiya Devan x Sendhan Amudan, the florist guy) take your time, though.

I read the original novel for study before watching the PS1 movie. I also like the young man selling flowers (Sendan). I was happy to see him in the movie.

I prefer Vanthiyathevan to be BOTTOM, so perhaps I will not meet your expectations🥲

I love PS/VT and will try to draw it one of these days☺️

Just watched Ponniyin Selvan and here's what's in my mind.

Vandhiyatthevan is bisexual (at least according to me). I mean, did you notice how his face was when Arulmozhi placed the crown on his head?! Not to mention that scene where he drew Sendhan Amuthan closer to him and threatened him.

Kundhavai and Nandhini are in my crush list now.

"Ilavarasi!!!!"(Princess!!!!)

Kundhavai jumped and turned around with confused eyes towards Varini, her friend and daughter of a chieftain who stayed at Pazhayarai with her. Kundhavai looked at Varini with appalled expressions. Varini on the other hand, had her eyes blown wide, and chest heaving up and down rapidly as she took deep breaths.

"What happened Varini? Why do you look like some calamity fell upon you?" Kundhavai raised a perfectly manicured eyebrow.

"Ilavarasi, th-those girls!" Kundhavai straightened her back, ears perking up. "One of them woke up!" 

Five words is all it took for Kundhavai to stand straight and speed walk out of her chambers, her beautiful embroidered shawl fluttering behind as Varini caught her steps. Winding through the corridors, the servants bowed and gave the way to the sprinting princess. Kundhavai heaved a deep breath in as soon as she reached the large doors, and all she heard at that time was angry and panicked voices. 

Her eyes widened when she walked inside. The soft and warm brown eyes were blown wide in panic, as they settled over her. Her brothers stood at the foot of the bed, concern flashing in their eyes as they looked at the panicked woman.

"Devi, please calm down. We are not lying. You are in Pazhayarai, and he is Ilavarasar Adithya Karikalan." Arulmozhi said and the woman again shook her head violently.

"No!! I am not going mad! How can you be Adithya Karikalan when he died a thousand years ago!?" She screeched at top of her voice, and a dead silence fell over everyone.

"...dead?" This time it was Kundhavai who spoke, making her presence known.

"Kundhavai, I think she's suffering from Sithabhramai." Karikalan looked at his sister in concern. "She's talking as if we existed in past." He said with a small laugh.
