From a little art “game” I made in 2005.  Back in the dusty annals of Livejournal, I set up a poll (link) with prompts based on the board game Clue.

Poor Willy Wombat is dead! Whodunit? People voted, and after a time limit I illustrated the winning answers, down the line:

Madame Coyote, in the Library, with the Revolver  motive: Revenge for ruined virtue and a broken heart.

Colonel Crow, in the Greenhouse, with the Lead Pipe motive: Fear that a shameful personal secret would be revealed and compromise his  military career.

Little Miss Monkey, in the Conservatory, with the Rope motive: Greed for his estate and riches as the sole beneficiary in his will.

Professor Rattus, in the Kitchen, with the Hammer motive: Envious of his scientific discoveries and undeserved professional acclaim.

Mr. Spider, in the Bathroom, with the Kitchen Knife motive: Insanity plain and simple, a serial killer on the loose.

I also used the format of a murder mystery dinner theater announcement poster because any excuse to play with graphic design is a good one.

In the promo image, I cast myself (the donkey) as the Butler and my friend Egypt Urnash as the Maid. She helped me organize my thoughts on the project.

Afterwards, I made little “Detective” cards for folks that participated. The "Clue” images were made with traditional ink and Adobe Illustrator, but the P.I. card portraits were Photoshop. It was a good excuse to practice digital painting in a small, low-ambition format.
