On the evening of October 12th, the Palestinian American legal scholar and human rights attorney Noura Erakat called into the CBS News Streaming show Prime Time with John Dickerson—which airs nightly on CBS’s website and apps, as well as on Pluto TV and Paramount—for a live interview on the human rights crisis caused by Israel’s bombing of Gaza. According to internal CBS discussions reviewed by Jewish Currents, employees at CBS had prioritized booking Erakat in part because the show had not included any Palestinian guests in its coverage of the region during the previous three days. But while the interview aired live to the network’s thousands of streaming viewers, CBS omitted the footage—in which Erakat sharply criticized the anchor’s framing of Israel’s actions—from the version of the episode published online that night, and declined to post a standalone clip of the interview, as it usually would. According to a schedule reviewed by Jewish Currents, the interview was initially listed in the 7:30 pm slot, between segments on Senator Bob Menendez and Israel/Palestine-related protests across the United States. But while those reports appear in the version of the show available online, Erakat’s remarks do not. Speaking with Jewish Currents, Erakat described her Prime Time interview as “a really tense back-and-forth.” “Rather than just answer questions about how bad things are,” she said, “I talked about media responsibility for perpetuating racist and Islamophobic tropes that have basically fomented war.” When Jeff Glor, the anchor filling in for Dickerson, described Hamas’s October 7th attacks on Israeli civilians as “barbarian,” Erakat asked why the same term wasn’t used to describe actions by Israel, noting that Israeli soldiers shot and killed her cousin three years ago at a checkpoint in the West Bank, and Israel still has not returned his body. Further, when Glor started to say that Gaza was facing Israel’s current bombing campaign “because Hamas started it,” Erakat asked if he thought Israel’s war crimes in Gaza were justified, leading Glor to backtrack. [x]
the article goes on to talk about numerous other palestinian and muslim commentators, analysts, and journalists who have been sidelines, including yousef munayyer, a palestinian american write and political analyst who was set to appear on CNN's this morning until he told them that he planned to "raise awareness about the mass atrocities" committed by israel; omar baddar, a palestinian american political analyst who was similarly scheduled for a CNN international show until he shared an outline of his planned comments; medhi hasan, ayman mohyeldin, and ali velshi, three MSBNC journalists sidelined from hosting their own shows; and more.
this only contributes to the overall media bias against palestine, one that has been ongoing for decades: historian maha nassar wrote a piece for +972 magazine in 2020 showing that out of the 5,739 op-eds about palestine published in the new york times and the washington post from 1970-2019, only 78 were authored by palestinians - LESS THAN ONE AND A HALF PERCENT. even someone as famous as edward said only had one op-ed published by the new york times throughout the 1990s, during which time thomas friedman wrote 33 articles discussing palestinians, william safire wrote 24, anthony lewis wrong 39, and a.m. rosenthal wrote 56.

...."Clark has already lost his initial skirmish in federal court — and he is likely to lose the war. He first filed an emergency motion to stay the Fulton County prosecution and avoid being arrested by Willis’ Friday deadline. Clark complained that he did not have time to make travel arrangements to be booked and asked the federal court to halt the proceedings. Defendants are entitled to that kind of relief in civil cases but not in criminal ones. Clark contended that this plainly criminal prosecution was actually a “civil-criminal hybrid action,” an argument Willis said “misunderstands fundamental tenets of criminal law and procedure.”

Why Jeffrey Clark’s increasingly zany legal shenanigans are doomed to fail

TAP TO UNMUTE
Trump co-defendants Meadows, Clark lose bid to delay arrests in Georgia
Aug. 25, 2023, 6:00 AM EDT / Updated Aug. 25, 2023, 9:19 AM EDT
By Norman Eisen, former impeachment counsel to the House Judiciary Committee, Joshua Kolb, former law clerk on the Senate Judiciary Committee and Fred Wertheimer, founder and president of Democracy 21
Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Fani Willis has set a deadline of 12 p.m. Friday for all 19 defendants to surrender in Atlanta in her case regarding interference in the 2020 election. Most have complied, yielding the astonishing spectacle of national and state GOP notables turning themselves in for mug shots, culminating in Thursday’s surrender of the former president. A few defendants have not and are instead asking the federal court to interfere in the case. But of those opting for that legal long shot, no other stands out like former Justice Department lawyer Jeffrey Clark.
Clark has already lost his initial skirmish in federal court — and he is likely to lose the war.
Federal law requires Clark to prove that writing the letter was part of his official duties enforcing federal law.
On Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Steve Jones rejected Clark’s initial effort, along with a request on different (but similarly shaky) grounds for the same relief by one of Clark’s co-defendants, former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows. Clark turned himself in at the Fulton County jail early Friday morning.
But Judge's initial ruling is merely a prologue to the main event for Clark: an evidentiary hearing on Sept. 18 regarding his underlying petition that his case be wrested out of the hands of the courts in Fulton County — where the alleged crimes occurred — and into Judge Jones’ federal courtroom. This, too, is likely to fail.
Willis’ indictment charges Clark with two crimes: first, the same overarching RICO conspiracy to overturn the election in Georgia that names the 18 other defendants, and second, an additional count of attempting to make false statements and writings. Both charges stem from a letter Clark drafted and circulated within the Justice Department, which was intended to be sent to Georgia officials asking them to consider appointing a false set of electors in light of fabricated “significant concerns” about the election.
The problem for Clark is that, to remove the case, federal law requires him to prove that writing the letter was part of his official duties enforcing federal law. But all the evidence points to Clark’s actions’ being far outside the scope of his official responsibilities — and instead being part of a political ploy orchestrated by Donald Trump to hang on to power and overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
Indeed, Clark was told as much by a chorus of his Justice Department bosses and White House lawyers. Acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue responded to Clark’s emailed draft letter by stating it “was not based on fact.” He later told Clark that what he was “proposing is nothing less than the United States Justice Department meddling in the outcome of a presidential election.” Clark responded: “I think a lot of people have meddled in this election” — essentially admitting what he was up to."

In addition, he asserted that just a few hours before the attack on January 6 on the United States Capitol, Trump called his legal counsel from the Willard hotel in Washington, DC, and discussed strategies to thwart Joe Biden’s certification while doing so under the protection of the attorney-client privilege. He was the first person to make the announcement that the committee will be questioning Meadows on January 6 and that former President Donald Trump would instruct his senior advisers to resist congressional subpoenas, which is considered to be a potential obstruction of justice. A small shout for roleplay! I only write through discord and I have a fair few WoL’s from different backgrounds if you’d like to check them out! I’ll write a small thing for the three pictured down below! But like this post or shoot me a message if you’re interested in any of them! I’m open to roleplaying with any characters, your WoL’s, canon characters, etc.
I usually don’t write any of them as the Warrior of Light in roleplays, but they all have stories for a more “canon” flavor, if you’d like that!
Selene Cartier: Half Hyur, half Elezen. A loyal warrior from Ishgard who wants nothing more than to protect her friends. She had family who were put to death before the Dragonsong War was resolved and doesn’t trust the government or the gods. Has a tenuous relationship with dragons and is cautious of outsiders like many Ishgardians tend to be. Keywords: loyal, brave, caring.
Reyah Velshi: Miqo’te assassin. Raised in the M tribe by her father, Reyah soon found that she desired more. Living in the Fringes, she came into contact with Ala Mhigans and Garleans alike... and killed them whenever money was put into her pockets. She left Eorzea not long ago to spend time in Thavnair. Keywords: cunning, distrustful, quick, dangerous.
Altani Geneq: A Xaela Auri woman who was born and raised in the Steppe. She was once married, but her husband perished in a tragic accident. After the incident, she ventured away from home for the very first time and sought her purpose in life after being untethered. Keywords: gentle, soft-spoken, warrior.
As Selene is one of my newest characters (and an alt I’m leveling through the MSQ), I would love to try writing her against your characters!
Common themes that I tend to lean into in roleplays are: angst, romance, rivals/enemies to friends/lovers, good vs evil, revenge, and many more.

I hated him at that moment. He had been pushing and prodding me to get pregnant since the day we got married. He even announced his intentions during a live interview with CNN anchor Ali Velshi while I was missing in Libya. On the third day of our captivity, Paul told Velshi that the New York Times had speculated that we might have been abducted by Qaddafi’s soldiers, but no one really knew if we were alive or dead. Velshi asked what Paul would say to me when we had the opportunity to speak again and Paul replied, 'I’m going to say, you know, you gotta come back here because, you know, we gotta have kids.' Paul knew I would have been mortified at the thought of my husband announcing on live TV that he wanted to get me pregnant, but it was an emotional moment. Usually he made no secret of his desire to start a family. He even contrived with my oldest friend, Tara, to decipher my ovulation chart in the weeks after Libya and put the dates as a reminder in his BlackBerry. He did all this with his characteristic sense of humor and never flagged in his support for my work. But he knew he had to push me. When Paul finally woke up, I showed him the pregnancy test, and we took another just to be sure: positive again. 'You got your wish,' I said. 'I can’t believe it happened so fast. I think my life is over.' Paul knew better than to answer. He had his coffee, got dressed, and went down to the bookstore at Khan Market, near our house in New Delhi, and bought What to Expect When You’re Expecting. He came home and presented me with this encyclopedic book of gestation. I took one look at it, with its grinning, baby-bump-flaunting woman on the cover, and was terrified. I was not at all ready to give up my life, my body, my travels. I stared at the glowing woman with a watermelon-sized stomach. Was that really going to be me in nine months? That huge? And she was so happy. Wasn’t that woman conflicted about her career? How was I going to keep shooting? My thoughts shifted to my colleagues—mostly men. What was everyone going to think? Kidnapped in Libya, husband made an announcement on CNN that he wanted to start a family while wife was still missing, and less than two months later she’s already knocked up! Surely it was the most predictable outcome of my entire life. I tried to imagine my life as a mother—struggled to envision a female role model in conflict photography—and I couldn’t think of a single female war photographer who even had a stable relationship. There were journalists who had taken time out to have children, like Elizabeth, who had a baby and managed to keep writing; photographers were different. What would the MacArthur Foundation say? They honor me with an incredible fellowship to foster my career as an international photojournalist, and I get pregnant.

These Two Women Senators Are The Real ‘Mavericks’ Of The GOP Health Care Vote
Senator John McCain made headlines early Friday morning when he cast an unexpected no vote against the Senate GOPs Health Care Freedom Act (a.k.a. skinny repeal of the Affordable Care Act). His vote was indeed surprising and decisive, and therefore newsworthy. But it was Senators Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins who stood consistently in opposition to these most recent attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act without a replacement. And without their no votes, McCains would not have mattered.
Not only did Murkowski and Collins join McCain in voting against the Health Care Freedom Act, they were also the only two Republicans to vote against a motion to proceed on ACA repeal efforts earlier in the week. And they did so, despite men in their own party, in the White House, and on the internetopenly threatening them. To sum it up: yet again, women in the Senate nevertheless persisted.
Over the last week, Murkowski and Collins have been calledwitches and bitches online. Rep.Blake Farenthold (R-Texas) said that he would challenge them to a duel if they were men, that is. Rep. Buddy Carter (R-Ga.) defended President Donald Trumps particular targeting of Sen. Murkowski, telling MSNBCs Ali Velshi that somebody needs to go over there to that Senate and snatch a knot in their ass. (For those who are unfamiliar with the phrase, snatch a knot in their ass means to hit.)
And its Sen. Murkowski, who represents the deep-red state of Alaska, who arguably has the most to lose from breaking with her party, especially because she has consistently expressed opposition this year to legislation that would defund Planned Parenthood. (Sen. Collins represents the much bluer state of Maine.)
Dont forget about the two women senators, who were there from the beginning. Sen. Amy Klobuchar on Senators Murkowski and Collins
This is likely why Murkowski has faced the brunt of President Trumps particular ire. On Wednesday, Trump tweetedthat Murkowski had really let the Republicans, and our country, down.Later that day, the Alaska Dispatch News reported that Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke had called both Murkowski and Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska)after Tuesdays health care vote to communicate that Murkowskis votehad put Alaskas future with the administration in jeopardy.
Murkowski who is no stranger to facing opposition, having won her 2010 Senate race through a highly impressive write-in campaignresponded to Trumps needling with aplomb.
My vote yesterday was from my heart for the people that I represent. And Im gonna continue working hard for Alaskans and just focus on that, she told a reporter who stopped her in the hall to ask about Trumps tweet: I have to focus on my job. I have to focus on what I came here to do.
To an extent,McCains surprising and deciding vote has overshadowed the political risks Murkowski and Collins took in standing with their values and their constituents even among Democrats in the Senate. Luckily, other women senators have their back.
HuffPosts Igor Bobic was at the Senate just after Fridays early morning vote. After the vote, Democrats expressed relief over the bills failure. They also sang the praises of McCain.
Asked whether the Arizona Republican was possibly the only senator, given his long, bipartisan record, who could have bucked his party at such a moment, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) agreed.
Given his stature, his remarks at the beginning when he came in, it moved everyone, he said. And I think that helped. Hes a hero. Hes a hero of mine.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), who stood nearby, interjected with an aside.
Also, she said. Dont forget about the two women senators, who were there from the beginning.
Igor Bobic contributed reporting to this piece.

Arson, looting, and violence in Minneapolis-St. Paul: I call that a riot
Derek Chauvin, A Minneapolis police officer, killed George Floyd, an unarmed black man, on Memorial Day.  Floyd was handcuffed and posed no harm to anyone. Nevertheless, Chauvin pressed his knee against Floyd's throat for about 8 minutes, causing Floyd's death. Yesterday, Chauvin was arrested and charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter. Without a doubt, Chauvin will ultimately go to prison for killing George Floyd. George Floyd's death is tragic. What Officer Chauvin did is outrageous. But does Floyd's violent end justify three days of arson, looting, and mayhem? I don't think so. Over the past four nights, protesters in Minneapolis and St. Paul set fire to dozens of buildings, looted businesses, and burned down a police station and a post office.  These violent events were riots, but the left-wing media want to call them something else. Ali Velshi, an MSNBC news correspondent, was at the scene of the chaos a couple of nights ago, and he reported that the crowd was "not generally speaking unruly." Yet Velshi was standing in front of a building engulfed in flames as he said that.  Craig Melvin, a morning news host for NBC,  tweeted that his station's reporting would not refer to unrestrained violence and arson as riots. "While the situation on the ground in Minneapolis is fluid, and there has been violence, it is most accurate at this time to describe what is happening there as 'protests'--not riots'." And a commentator speaking on a podcast posted by Slate also refused to call the demonstrations triggered by George Floyd's death by their right name--riots. "[W]e can't call these things riots, one podcast participant argued." They are rebellions." Adam Urin, writing for bringmethenews.com, compiled a list of buildings that were damaged or destroyed in Minneapolis-St. Paul over the past week. As of May 30, when Urin's inventory was updated, 213 buildings were damaged or destroyed by rioters. I reformatted this list and posted it below. Eight of these buildings were in the suburbs, 49 were in St. Paul, and 156 were in Minneapolis. Some of the buildings were corporately owned: two Wells Fargo Banks, for example, a Target store, and several chain-pharmacy stores. But many were small businesses run and owned by racial minorities. And these businesses employed hundreds of people. All right-thinking people abhor the death of George Floyd, but his violent end doesn't justify arson and looting. And it doesn't justify criminal assaults on police officers, several of whom were injured in last week's melees. It does nothing to reduce racial tensions for media commentators to call what happened last week in Minneapolis mere protests and demonstrations. These were riots, and to say otherwise is to engage in Orwellian deception. ________________________________________________________________________

Kingfield angst drabble
David never thought that sitting on the bed of a dead man would ever be something he would deal with but here he was. He swallowed a lump in his throat as he went through pictures that this fucking geek took of them together and actually got them developed. Who does that nowadays anyway?
“It’s something physical to hold on to. It’s like holding an actual memory at your fingertips instead of a phone! Besides, I’ve always been better with cameras than phones anyway.” He could still freshly remember that memory of when Dwight gave David pictures of them for their one year anniversary. They were laughing, eyes bright with happiness and joy, cuddling in a blanket together during a particularly cold night during their groups annual June camping trip.
David felt his eyes water, he jammed his eyes closed. He refused to cry, it was a happy memory and he will not let his grief tarnish it. He packed up some of Dwight clothes away, trying his best not to let himself keep things that will make it harder for him to accept that he’s gone and move on. He wasn’t proud to admit that this wasn’t the first time he had tried to do this. He had tried for months, but he just...Couldn’t do it. It was easier now that his clothes no longer held his smell, but putting away his favorite shirt into the box made him want to give up then and there but he toughed it out as heart-shattering as it was. David had to remind himself that this was for him. To move on and this wasn’t a betrayal and that Dwight would have wanted this. He would want him to move on and smile again. There were a couple of things that were harder, that held some of the best memories before they were married. Like the stuffed bear that he won for him during their third date to the carnival, his husbands' camera that Dwight had saved up for months while working in that god awful pizza place and treated it like his baby. And also his photos with that camera….They were right he supposed. A picture is worth a thousand words.
And his wedding ring from when they got married two years ago.
His therapist said it would be best to keep it hidden but David loved Dwight with his heart and soul and keeping it locked in a drawer or tossed away felt like he was tossing Dwight away and he just...Couldn’t do it. So he kept it on a necklace close to his heart where his husband will always be.
He felt a tear run down his face as he aggressively wiped it away, but soon another tear, and another, then suddenly the whole flood gates were open and he couldn’t keep tears at bay and he sat on their shared bed and bawled like a two-year-old who lost his mum.
Except he lost his soulmate and he was never coming back.
And God did he miss him more than anything.
It was his fault. He lost his husband because he asked him to detour from work to get him some beer from the shop and his husband being the sweet soul that he was had gone ahead and went out of his way to grab some. He didn’t calculate that he would walk in during a robbery and startle the thief with the gun. Now he’s a widower after finally marrying the love of life two years ago.
Fuck. Dwight of all people?
His mum had told him that ‘God always took the good ones.’ As she grieved with him, holding him in her arms like she did when he was only a child. It didn’t make him feel better, in fact, it made him feel worse. Bitter if anything because what kind of god would take such a loving man when David needed him most?
David was knocked out of his thoughts when he heard a knock on the door. David had to debate for a minute, not ready yet to talk to anyone at the moment. Not ready to hear any more fucking condolences or to see their pity which they could shove up their-
He shook his head of the nasty, angry thoughts. He was able to control his anger with Dwight anchoring him down and a therapist. He would not disappoint his memory by ruining all that progress because he’s not there. He got up and gave himself a second to prepare before he walked downstairs and answered the door. He was expecting a lot of things, but he was not expecting Frank and his band of misfits to be there and looking almost as broken as he did.
“Can...Can we come in?” Susie’s voice cracked, looking like she was ready to burst into tears any second and David couldn’t help but usher them in. When they first met “The Legion.” As they called themselves, it was a bit of a rocky start as they tried to intimidate the couple as they moved in wanting them to know they were on their territory. Didn’t go so well when David backhanded Frank so hard he swore the kid saw stars when he made a derogatory remark towards Dwight. Instead of telling them to fuck right off like David wanted too, he swore that Dwight had lost his goddamn mind when he invited them in for food and to keep warm.
Since then, Susie absolutely adored Dwight and those two got on like a house on fire. She even started to call him dad after 6 months of knowing them and David would even catch her in the house with Dwight as she showed him her own photos that she had taken. Julie and Frank seemed to get along better with David, in awe of his strength and strange similarity to them personality wise but still loved Dwight for his advice and soothing personality. They all took it hard but David was confident to say that Frank was probably the one who took it the hardest even though he had never admitted it, but he never had too, you could see it in his posture, usually Frank stood so tall but now he was slouched. Mischievous, sparkling brown eyes were almost as dull as David's own green ones. David couldn’t but think that Frank deserved to be here, they all did, but Frank most of all. Dwight and David hadn’t adopted Frank. Frank had come to adopt them as his unofficial parents and had only asked days before Dwight's death to ask to officially adopt him. David gave a small but sad smile when he saw Frank looking at a picture of Dwight. David wasn’t sure when Dwight was happier. During the wedding day or when Frank asked to be their son.
It was silent but David felt better now that the teens were here. Someone else felt his pain and wanted to be close and David couldn’t deny that. He took a breath, He knows they wouldn’t take this well but he thinks they had the right as well.
“I’m going through his things right now. I wanted you guys to go through it before I threw some of them away.” All eyes were on him but surprisingly, Julie was the one who was the most vocal.
“Are...You fucking kidding? You’re throwing his things out!?” She got up and squared up to him, her body language aggressive and her eyes held so much anger, sadness, and betrayal. “This was your husband and you're going to throw away his things like they’re nothing? What you think he was trash too!?”
That hurt. That hurt really deep but David just let her pour out her feelings. Pour out all the anger and grief and whatever is plaguing her that came from the death of his husband.
“He wouldn’t have….He...He wouldn’t do that to you.” Her breath hitches turned to sobs and then just stood there and cried. Tough, nail hard Julie was crying. She just walked into his arms and cried on his chest. He felt his heart clench and his mouth wobble as he himself tried to hold it in. He placed his hand on the back of her head for comfort only making her cry harder and louder. Susie was covering her face with her hands as she sat on the couch and the two boys put their hood up to hide their faces.
They were all broken and Dwight left a hole in everyone’s heart that wasn’t ever going to go.
—-
It took a while for everyone to calm down but everyone felt that drain. The bone-deep tiredness that came from a good cry. They stayed and planned to stay the night as they ordered pizza. David looked like he was going to cry when he saw the logo of ‘PizzaWhat’ in big, bold, red letters.
“Not sure if ya guys knew…” He started, feeling everyone’s eyes on him but his eyes were still settled on the pizza box. “Dwight used ta manage the PizzaWhat up until ‘e met me. Said it was the worst job ‘e ever worked but I always said the one ‘e was currently workin’ it was probably ‘is worst.” They all just looked at the box. Not very hungry already but knowing that it was connected to Dwight in some way made everything worse.
“Damnit David, don’t ruin my favorite pizza place.” Joey joked, but it was as weak as they all felt but they still were able to crack a smile. As small as it was, it was definitely still a victory.
David just snorted before he replied. “Yeah, this place treated ‘im like gold compared to this place that ‘e works-Worked. He worked at.” They all winced as David corrected himself. He heard a sniffle coming from the couch but he couldn’t tell if it was Susie or Julie. He couldn’t really care though, he’ll let them cry for as long as they need.
“You should ‘ave heard the voicemail ‘his piece o’ shit boss left. ‘M still debating on whether or no’ I should punch ‘is fuckin’ lights out.” They all looked at him intensely, intrigued about what he was talking about but didn’t say anything. “Dwight never complained about ‘is work, but I knew they were workin’ ‘im like a dog. I didn’ know the extent of ‘ow much they abused ‘im though.” He shouldn’t be telling them this. They were already very protective of their little cut and paste misfit family that they made and they were petty when you messed with any of them. But now with one gone and all of them grieving, David knew this could send them in a direction he doesn’t want them to go down. So why was he running his mouth?
“Do you still have the voicemail?” Joey asked, which made David look up. His voice was calming and pleasant but the look in his eye promised something much more sinister. David nodded, he was angry at the way Dwight was treated and he knew these kids would burn the whole fucking world down if they messed with the family. David knew Dwight would be so angry and mortified that he was going to show them but he wanted to share his anger.
“You gotta promise me though,” They wouldn’t keep it. He knows he wouldn’t if he heard this but at least he could say he tried. Makes him feel a bit better, even though he knew it’s selfish and such a bad idea. “You gotta promise me ya ain’ gonna get in trouble. Ya ain’t gonna do anythin’.” They all promised but it was half-hearted. Susie did a poor job of hiding her crossed fingers behind her back but in all honesty, David kinda hoped they would do something. Maybe take that fat cat piece of shit and-
He let out a breath as he cut those thoughts off. He didn’t want anything happening to these kids. He didn’t want them to have blood on their hands.
God Dwight, we all need you now more than ever.
He got up and went to the answering machine. Dwight was a little old fashioned and always believed they should have a house phone for work and a cell phone for friends and family. David hesitates over the replay button, getting second thoughts about doing it.
“Let us hear the messages David,” Frank started, his voice holding no emotion. “Please.” Ah, his voice cracked there. How could he say no to a rare please from Frank?
So he played it.
“Dwight, you’re late! It better be because you’re grabbing my coffee because I swear to god if it isn’t I’ll fire you on the spot. Get here and make it fast.” It ended and a fresh wave of uncontrollable anger coursed through him. He hadn’t felt this way in a long time and he was itching for a brawl.
When he looked up, the cold rage that settled on all their faces made him feel better. He gave a feral, bitter smile.
“You think that was bad? Just ya wait.” He said as he played the second message.
“It’s been a whole day, where the fuck were you? With some extra time in the office, I would have forgiven you for being late but this is unacceptable! I knew you were always useless but I thought at least you're on time. What a fucking joke you are. Don’t bother coming in tomorrow, I’ll make sure you're blacklisted from any firm that you want to assist in. Good luck with getting a job in the future, especially with no reference. Happy job hunting.” It was almost worse hearing it a second time. He was surprised when Frank was next to him, looking him dead in the eye as his anger festered. Was this what he looked when he was angry? When he wanted a fight?
“I think we might have to break that promise,” Frank looked at the voicemail machine and David was sure that poor piece of tech was going to explode. “Because this doesn’t go unpunished.”
David knew he should feel some kind of chill but he didn’t. He felt nothing but a small bloom of satisfaction that he knew he would come to regret later. David connected their foreheads together and looked Frank in the eye.
“Do what you need to do and don’t get caught.” There was a twisted smile that made a home on Frank's face.
“Don’t worry. We won’t.” He moved and they all moved towards the door like we’re one entity. Susie grabbed their masks from her bag and handed it to all of them.
“Will get revenge for him, dad. To all those that wronged him, we’ll get him.” They all put their masks on moved through the door before Frank stopped and turned, the mask sending a chill down David’s spine.
“And the man who murdered him. Will give you that privilege to reap what he sowed.” David knew he should be afraid. This wasn’t what Dwight would want, this was exactly what he was trying to get the group away from and David was here encouraging them. God, Dwight would be so disappointed.
“You leave that one to me. We’ll find ‘im and make ‘im suffer.” Frank nodded, before walking up and giving him a quick but strong hug.
“He messed with the wrong family.” David nodded and smirked. He was angry and no fucking therapist was going to help him this time.
“We’ll track ‘im down and make sure ‘e wishes that ‘e was never born. I promise you’ll ‘ear ‘im scream.” Frank laughed and it was the most emotion he has heard from him since the news. David could help but feel a rush as they shared the same thoughts.
“Of course dad, welcome to the Legion.”

MSNBC reporter Garrett Haake spent Friday at the 2019 Conservative Political Action Conference, where he subtly mocked the right for writing the Bush family entirely out of the movement. Haake told Velshi that while conservatives’ issues had remained “essentially the same” -abortion, immigration, Israel- the context of CPAC had changed “dramatically” in just four years. “This has become a pro-Trump conference more than it is a conservative conference,” Haake said. “He is the uniting factor …

Fake news is becoming more and more apparent in today’s web-based society, and not only is it growing in prominence, but also in power. Fake news is gaining more and more influence on society as well which is why the government, large companies like Google and Yahoo, law enforcement are working to reduce fake news, remove fake news, and prosecute the creators of fake news. Article #7 highlights how fake news was used in the Nigerian election, and actually posed an impact on the results. Article #9 talks about how Google is fighting against fake news to monitor results that are displayed on their search engine and avoid fake news. Article #10 describes how Senzo Meyiwa’s murder case from 2014 has been solved and the murderer is listed, however, this is not true and there is no investigation at this time. Finally, what I found to be most interesting and scary is that AI is now being used to produce fake news, in order for it to be used as a weapon against various different subjects/topics, and to skew the perceptions of audiences.

A Bizzare Night in the Roy Moore Scandal
New Post has been published on http://usnewsaggregator.com/a-bizzare-night-in-the-roy-moore-scandal/
A Bizzare Night in the Roy Moore Scandal
Even as Roy Moore’s campaign publicly denounced the claim of one accuser, two more women came forward.
The latest turn in the Alabama Senate special election came in a press conference Wednesday afternoon, when Moore’s attorney Phillip L. Jauregui attempted to cast doubt on the claims of Beverly Young Nelson, who said on Monday that Moore signed her high-school yearbook and then later sexually assaulted her when she was 16. In the press conference, Jauregui said that Nelson’s claim that she had never spoken to Moore after the incident was false, since Moore had presided over a divorce proceeding with Nelson and her husband. Jauregui also denied that Moore ever signed Nelson’s yearbook, alleging inconsistencies in the former Alabama chief justice’s signature, and asked Nelson and her lawyer Gloria Allred to turn the book over to handwriting experts for analysis. “Is it genuine, or is it a fraud?” Jauregui asked.
Just 20 minutes later, AL.com reported that another woman, Tina Johnson, had come forward to allege that Moore had groped her when she was 28, during a meeting in 1991 when Moore was serving as her mother’s attorney during a custody petition process. “He didn’t pinch it; he grabbed it,” she said of a parting incident in which Moore allegedly touched her buttocks.
Two hours after that, The Washington Post reported that another woman, Gena Richardson, had come forward with accusations that Moore had made unwanted advances—and in one case, an unwanted “forceful” kiss—while she worked as a teenager in the Gadsden Mall. “It was a man kiss — like really deep tongue. Like very forceful tongue,” Richardson said of the alleged encounter, which she says happened around the time when she was 18. Her former coworker at the Gadsden Mall Sears, Kayla McLaughlin, and another former mall employee Phyllis Smith corroborated her account.
In a statement to the Post, the Moore campaign denied these new claims and the earlier ones, saying that “if you are a liberal and hate Judge Moore, apparently he groped you.” But in the scandal now consuming the Alabama race, many of the women who’ve come forward with stories of sexual abuse have been Moore’s Republican constituents. On November 9, the Post ran a story containing allegations from Leigh Corfman that Moore had sexual contact with her when she was 14, and offering stories of other women from Gadsden, Alabama, who allege Moore courted them as teenagers. Additionally, AL.com and The New Yorker ran stories with sources claiming that Moore had been known for approaching young women and teenagers in the Gadsden Mall, and was rumored to have been banned at some point.
Even in the face of seven women claiming Moore assaulted or harassed them, his campaign is defiant, with his chief of staff claiming yesterday that “there are holes all the way through the stories” of the accusers.
Moore’s team has painted his candidacy as the victim of a smear campaign. This afternoon, Moore’s wife Kayla Moore wrote a Facebook post claiming that her hometown had “been invaded by the Washington Post and liberal media,” and that the campaign is filing suit against at least one media outlet. Trenton Garmon, one of the campaign’s lawyers, issued a letter to AL.com “in anticipating (sic) of our firm preparing and filing a lawsuit against your client and its agents,” and the campaign website also now contains a form for supporters to report being contacted by reporters.
At least one Alabama resident reported receiving a seemingly anti-Semitic robocall falsely claiming to have been from a Washington Post reporter that appeared to be an attempt to discredit the paper’s reporting. And Garmon made a strange appearance on MSNBC Wednesday, suggesting that host Ali Velshi’s “background” could give the journalist insight on the allegations of sexual assault against minors.
The Senate’s Republican leadership, including Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, have called on Moore to withdraw. Richard Shelby, the Republican senior senator from Alabama, said that he wouldn’t vote for Moore, and would instead favor a write-in candidate. On Tuesday, the Republican National Committee ended all support for Moore, and on Wednesday, the National Republican Senatorial Committee, which withdrew its support of Moore last week, released a poll showing Moore trailing 12 points behind his opponent, Democrat Doug Jones. (The average of other recent polls depicts a tighter race, with Moore clinging to a slight lead.) Ivanka Trump told the AP that “there’s a special place in hell for people who prey on children. I’ve yet to see a valid explanation and I have no reason to doubt the victims’ accounts.” To all of this, Moore’s campaign tweeted another defiant message Wednesday night, telling McConnell to “bring it on.”
Even Moore’s support among the more Breitbartian elements of his party has faltered. My colleague Rosie Gray reports that “behind the scenes, [Steve] Bannon has been sounding people out about how to handle the Moore situation.” On Tuesday, FoxNews talk-show host Sean Hannity gave Moore a 24-hour ultimatum to “immediately and fully come up with a satisfactory explanation for your inconsistencies.” Moore attempted to meet that ultimatum, tweeting an open letter to Hannity outlining Jauregui’s attacks on Nelson’s claim and stating that “I have been attacked by the Washington Post and other liberal media in a desperate attempt to smear my character and defeat my campaign.”
Allred has pushed for her client to testify against Moore in a hearing before either the Senate Judiciary Committee or the Senate Select Committee on Ethics. Moore, instead, is seeking to cast doubt on at least one claim lodged against him, in an apparent effort to mollify his erstwhile endorsers and wavering supporters, by giving them just enough to cling to the “if true” portions of their denunciations. Additionally, the fear-mongering about media in Alabama seems aimed less at challenging the veracity of the claims themselves than at undermining trust in any reporting, and solidifying local support.
Moore isn’t going anywhere, and that local support has been much more important than condemnations by national Republican leaders. Several state GOP leaders, including Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill, have continued to support Moore, even after the allegations first surfaced. In fact, Alabama Republican Party Chairman Terry Lathan has implicitly threatened all Alabama Republican politicians with potential expulsion from future ballots for publicly supporting any candidate other than Moore.
With Moore entrenched in defiance, the only real entity that could challenge him to step aside is the Lathan-led state GOP steering committee, which coincidentally met at the same exact time Jauregui gave his press conference. The steering committee sat for hours in the Embassy Suites in the Hoover suburb of Birmingham, grappling with the monumental decision it had before it. But NBC News’s Vaughn Hillyard reported that the proposal to remove Moore from the race never reached the point of a vote, although members of the committee didn’t immediately issue a statement on their decision or come out to speak to the waiting press. According to Josh Gauntt, a reporter for the local Fox affiliate WBRC,“apparently members slipped out some hidden door.”
