Blorbo bingo: Veldstadt?

O Velstadt, the Royal Soundtrack, my very beloved.

To be honest, I don't really feel like the writers balled on him, however his bossfight could definitely use to be harder.

Everything about him most of the time comes from items of other characters or in relation to them, which I like. It's a nice touch, to show how selfless he must have been acting, regardless of his true feelings and intentions, or thoughts. Truly, only a shield (the danger's inside the house).

Making him worse and plotting his demise go hand in hand because I would love to see him Darker, actively displaying signs of corruption even before the game's events. He is hinted to originate from the Sunken City, also a very Dark-themed location, so it could have been present even before he came to Vendrick's court!

Has done nothing wrong thus :) Can be considered a war criminal if he participated in the war against the Giants? But I don't believe we have canon proof he was there, so...

Underrated because Raime is right there. And better. AND stronger.

#36: Velstadt, the Royal Aegis (Dark Souls 2)

Taco Bell makes his appearance at last! Velstadt's weapon is easily the coolest thing about him; using a bell in combat is super cool and the only time it happens in the trilogy despite there being multiple bosses with bell in the name. Admittedly, he just ends up using it as a hammer 90% of the time, but the one or two attacks that involve him ringing the bell are cool! It's a shame that his arena is so bland in comparison; a plain gray stone room with flat lighting is especially weak for a game with a ton of great boss fight locations. You can make the boss a joke with parries, but as a whole he's just a solid knight archetype boss. Not the freshest idea, but one with a neat enough little tweak to stand above a lot of the rest.

First impression DING DONG BELL :D Followed shortly by "I'm a better hexer than you." He is a really fun boss fight, and I'm glad I had the phantom there to distract him. That hammer hits hard.

Impression now I am fascinated with him! And tbh I kinda dig him and Raime in all sorts of situations. The spite, the enmity, the once-friendship and alliance! I kind of want to make a second hexer file so I can use his hammer. Ring a ding ding!

Favorite moment Seeing him stride out of one of Elana's clouds of darkness. That was an Oh Shit moment for real. (And then he flattened me, too.)

Idea for a story The one where he's an attendant to Elana in Shulva, as she teaches various other people how to bring forth spells with the power of the Dark. Velstadt learns to hex alongside the greatest minds of Olaphis and Alken.

Unpopular opinion I think he was Dark-touched before he ever followed Vendrick. Yes, the Dark took the last of him while he attended his new king in the Undead Crypt, but it got a foothold well before that. Its influence may even have made it easier to support Vendrick and Nashandra when Raime turned.

Favorite relationship Star-crossed with Raime. Are they friends? are they lovers? are they allies with a shared purpose? Whatever it is, we know how it ends, but both of them remain fond of the other.

Favorite headcanon That's no replica; Elana really summons Velstadt, or at least an image of him. He was born in Shulva and learned to defend an entirely different king. His failure to defend the Sunken King haunts him to the point that he cannot countenance leaving Vendrick.

That’s a tough one. I can’t think of anything that I find 100% satisfying, but I’d say Dark Souls 2 again, this time Raime (Fume Knight) and Velstadt, the Royal Aegis.

They were the left and right hand of King Vendrick. But only Raime realized that Nashadra was manipulating Vendrick. Velstadt was blinded and loyal to the end. After Raime dared to speak up against Nashandra, Velstadt fought against him. Raime lost and was exiled. He then went to Brume Tower in search of greater strength.

Among all the Fromsoftware Dude in Armor guys, Velstadt, the Royal Aegis is like absolute F-tier sexy to me, I do not know what people see in him

Dude just channels the vibe of someone who unironically thinks Powerwolf is Good Christian Music as opposed to songs about cum and boners. If Tarkus was a tough meaty steak, Velstadt to me is just like, raw, walmart-brand tortilla with salt on it

Idk how he even does it like how does it, like he manages to take the gentle mixing of plate armor and scale mail, an immensely and undebatably sexy style of armor design, and somehow manages to make it look not only unsexy, but straight-up kinda lame

Like, how does he even do that? How does one manage to take so many raw ingredients of a character design that would appeal to me and just fumble them so badly? I don't fuckin know dude but he manages
