Sorry, but I just saw a post that said that in the Expanded Universe/Legends' continuity that the Jedi stole children?! Blatant lies! Parents gave permission for their children to enter the Jedi Order. Was it a hard choice? Yes. Did many of them regret it? Yes. Crion and Vox Chun regretted sending their sons Xanatos and Bruck, respectively, to the Jedi. Vidar Kim regretted sending Ronhar. But others were proud of their child's Jedi status. Yes, even Dooku's parents were. Shmi wanted Anakin to be freed and become a Jedi. She knew her son was special and had a bigger destiny. Olana Chion's parents V-Nen and O-Melie requested that the Jedi test their daughter and wanted her away from the oppressive regime ruling their planet. The Jedi only took children away from their homes and planets without permission if the child was in danger.

Okay so obviously Sheev Palpatine is just pure evil. But why does he do evil so well? Like if evil, why hot? Honestly his audacity and pure diabolical-ness needs more love.

It's satisfying to watch/read how his plans fall apart, but after the gazillion time it just loses it spark. Especially after the sequels. What even was that? Ignoring the obvious blunder of bringing him back, Where's the masterplan spanning decades? The hiding in plan sight?? The running circles around everyone??? Disney really be saying that they brought him back only add nothing and kill him off in the lamest way possible 😭 A downfall should be earned, not dumbing down the big bad so the perfect, infallible protagonist can roll over them.

The prequels may not have been the best, but coupled with legends, Palpatine's genius shined through. I'd say that it plays a big part in his character that the more it gets taken away or overshadowed, the worst the character gets.

--Not that I have anything against fluff writers, but ao3 has too much fluff. (Or maybe I just suck at the filters)

An personal favorite example of mine, although a really obscure piece of lore (and not a fanfic), would the the Legends one-shot comic by the name of Republic #64: Bloodlines. Befriending a jedi for decades and then callously casting him aside is not unique at all, but the comic presents it in a way that you feel really bad for the jedi. It provides snap shots of the most defining moments of their so called "friendship". Ronhar Kim would save Palpatine's life from an assassination attempt (*wink wink;) ) after they have met at his birth father's funeral. And whaddya know, Vidar Kim was Palpatine's political mentor who he succeeded in office! What a great coincidence, the galaxy sure is a small place :D

Ronhar Kim does not play a huge role in the star wars universe, and yet, it's his betrayal that hit the hardest for me. Guy was just this normal jedi, serene yet defiant in the face of death, who befriends a seemingly sincere politician. Attempted to bridge the gap between the Senate and the Jedi, who arguably came up with the plan that could have exposed the sith lord, and yet all that was him eating from the palm of the one Sheev Palpatine.

Arsenik och Gamla Spetsar (2012). 👍

Fredriksdalare som tillfälligt låg uppe på Eva Rydbergs YouTube-kanal. Trevlig liten fars om två systrar med en dödlig hobby.

Assassins (2020). 👍

Dokumentär om mordet på Kim Jong-nam, eller kanske framför allt det som framkom i utredningen efteråt och om hur två unga kvinnor blev en bricka i Nordkoreas maktspel.

East, the (2013). 👍

Thriller från den utomordentligt kompetenta duon Zal Batmanglij och Brit Marling. En privar säkerhetsfirma tar sig an att infiltrera en anarkistisk grupp och agenten som får uppdraget känner hur världen mellan gruppen och verkligheten blir allt mer otydlig.

Fantasy Island (2020).

Förväntade mig blodig splatter-skräck men fick en väldigt väl berättad skräckis. Har en fullständigt onödig twist på slutet men är bättre än recensionerna gör gällande.

Final Target ¤ Ava (2020). 👎 📺 🆓

Dramaaction om en lönnmördare som börjar tvivla på sitt jobb. Vill inte riktigt lyfta -- trots en skicklig Jessica Chastain i huvudrollen.

Gudarna Måste Vara Tokiga ¤ The Gods Must Be Crazy (1980).

Klassisk komedi som fortfarande kan vara rätt rolig. Tror inte jag sett den tidigare.

Kassören i Auschwitz ¤ Accountant of Auschwitz, the (2018). 👍

Dokumentär om fallet Oscar Gröning som en av de sista levande SS-medlemmarna ställdes inför rätta för medhjälp till mord på 300 000 personer. Dokumentären centrerar sig mycket kring den etiska debatten och Tysklands kämpande med att gå vidare.

Love and Monsters (2020).

Postapokalyptiskt drama med lätta stråk av teenegeangst. Avgjort bättre än väntat och jag gillar att monstren faktiskt inte är invanderade rymdvarelser.

Moon 44 (1990).

Inte så pjåkigt action-mysterium signerat Roland Emmerich.

Mord på Ljusa Dagen ¤ Evil Under the Sun (1982).

Mer Agatha Christie! Mer Hercule Poirot! Och som alltid när det gäller den sistnämnda är det en väldigt avancerad förklaring till vem mördaren är och hur det hela gått till.

Once Upon a Mattress (2005).

Förra månadens “Sicken Ärta!” följs upp med spelfilmsversionen av samma pjäs. Inte fullt lika vass som fredriksdals version, men ändock underhållande.

Ack så skicklig Vivian Falcone är som en yngre upplaga av mamma  Melissa McCarthys rollfigur. En superhjälte film vars största behållning (förutom huvudrollsinnehaverskorna) är att det är en superhjältefilm utanför MCU och DCEU.

Tom i bollen ¤ Caddyshack (1980). 👎 🔁

Är det bara jag eller är Chevy Chase rätt överksattad? Rodney Dangerfield är nog den enda som är genuint rolig. Har sett den tidigare och mindes typ ingeting på förhand, förutom golftemat.

Troy: The Odyssey (2017). 👎

The Asylum ger sig på klassiska Odyssén i vad som bara kan kallas gisten Eka med segel.

Vita frun (1962). 👍

Intressant story, och ungefär lika bra som de övriga filmerna i Arne Mattsons filmserie. Lite besviken dock att enfaldige Freddy hängde med in i den här filmen men inte fru Hillman.

Wheels of Fire (1985). 👎

Post-apokalyptisk bilåkaraction. Vill mycket men stannar vid “Casha in i kölvattnet på Mad Max”-nivån.

Skall ni bara plocka en film ur den här listan, rekommenderas den politiska thrillern “The East” eller “Kassören från Auschwitz”.

Scott är kontoret - cool, solglasögon och stenkoll på läget. Jag är Kim - bröllopsklänning, paniken i ögonen, oklar på var hon är eller vad som händer. Okej jag har inte en bröllopsklänning på mig men ni förstår ju vibben jag är ute efter.  

Då har det varit vecka två av karantän avklarad då.  Herrejävlar de har ju varit en vecka det. Jobbat över någon timme varje dag och haft saker att göra nonstop. Pust.  Men det går an va. De göre. Har till stor del denna vecka jobbat rätt intensivt med att ta fram olika videos till vår casinoinstagram. Hur man gör de? Jo min lilla skumtomte nu ska du få höra. Man loggar in på spelutgivaren (game provider) sida, laddar ner “marketing assets” dvs illustrationer, loggor å annat mög, slänger in de i after effects med en mockup på en mobil som  man klistrar på en kortare video som visar spelet - och voila - färdig video. Det låter enkelt, och det är det efter ett tag när man har gjort det. Men fy de va jobbigt. Jag har inte varit den som kan after effects men efter den här veckan känns de som jag äntligen fattar programmet äntligen. Plus adobe media encoder -- jag förstår hur man använder det??? Aldrig förstått innan??? 

Om vi likt hur Hugh Hefner hoppade från den ena blonda 20 åringen till den andra 20 åriga ännu blondare tjejen - hoppar vidare till nästa sak jag arbetat med denna vecka - YoMillions. (Jag kommer här bara ger er en paus att verkligen få in hur STARK och BRA den liknelsen var) 

För att få lite story till det. Malta har en stark koppling till spelindustrin (no shit) men det är inte bara skandinaviska företag som kommer ner hit utan det är även en stor maltesisk spelkultur. Det finns speciella “lotto booths” där man, ja som namnet säger, köper lotter. Dessa lotter går bla till ett stort lotteri som heter Super 5. Super 5, och alla lotto booths, har likt nästintill allt annat stängts ner pga corona. DÄäääärrför finns det en stor efterfrågan för de gamla gubbarna (och andra)  i landet som är vana vid att köpa deras lott varje vecka... det är denna efterfrågan vi siktar in oss på. Logiskt? Ja. Är det jätte intressant att höra om den maltesiska spelindustrin? Nej troligen inte för er men ändå snart kommer säkert någon rolig meme.

Det är alltså YoMillions, vårt egna lotto med en vinst på 50.000.000 kr och med dragnigar varje onsdag och lördag ( ja jag har blivit jobbskadad), som vi har börjat marknadsföra som SATAN just nu. Detta betyder alltså att jag satts i arbete att ta fram olika socialamedieinlägg till socielamediereklam för både Malta och Sverige. Om ni ser någon YoBetIt reklam kan ni alltid slänga mig en tanke.

Annars? Ja du. Karantän är en speciell sak att sitta i. Att ha ett helt kontor jobba hemifrån är något jag aldrig vara del av igen. Det känns som något problem som skulle tagit fem minuter om alla satt på samma ställe tar fem timmar när alla sitter på olika håll. För att inte tala om att skypemöten kan vara det STELASTE jag någonsin varit med om? För det första måste man göra sig halv presentabel (läs: ta på sig en tröja och vinkla kameran så man inte ser att jag sitter i min säng utan byxor), sen sitter man först i någon minuts total tystnad innan alla kommit för att sedan ha ett möte där hälften av folks ljud inte funkar, en tredje dels internet laggar och alla kollar lite lätt obekvämt in i kameran

VECKANS skvaller är gömt för fy vad jag alltid ordbajsar alldeles för mycket. Ordbajsar utan att visa några som helst relevanta bilder på vad jag gör. Men hejhå. Puss puss ni överlever. 

HÄNT EXTRA LÄS DET HÄR! Min älskade älskade baskerman har lämnat oss. ALLTSÅ INTE DÖTT LÄMNAT UTAN lämnatlämnat. Saknar honom redan. Jag såg han lika mycket som en faderfigur som mina drömmars man, han såg mig som en random tyst tjej på jobbet som han ibland sa hej till. 

Annars på det sociala planet. Jag har insett något jag egentligen har vetat väldigt länge. Ansikte mot ansikte är jag en social katastrof. Jag är medveten om det. MEN SKRIFTLIGT! Man kan nästan tro jag är både trevlig och rolig. 50/50 på hur mycket av de här som är ironi och ärligt. 

Nej men! Ge mig en slackchatt och gifs å jag kan leverera. Känner jag fortfarande att jag har påsen på huvudet rent socialt som jag sa förra veckan? Ja. Men nu har vi klippt ögonhål i påsen. FRAMSTEG! FRAAMMSTEEGG! 

Nu. Nu inser jag att anledningen till att vi ska skriva blogginlägg är för skolansskull. Det är en skoluppgift. Och jag ger er... det här. Och med den tanken slutar jag skriva nu. Hejdå. Puss. Tills nästa vecka.

PERSONALITY: hyunwoo is often a very quiet person. most of his thoughts are kept privately to himself or muttered to the various vegetables and plants that he takes care of. he tends to be the clumsy type. as a very physical person and used to growing up in a secluded area hyunwoo is slow to react to and process information when he is being spoken too. he often will think very carefully before voicing his opinion on a matter. despite that, hyunwoo is not lacking in education or brains he just prefers to take his time with all aspects of his life. even with being a slow person, hyunwoo is never lazy. his time is always occupied with various chores and tasks and is more than happy to sacrifice his own time to help others. although his expressions may be lacking he has a very even temper and is content with his life.  

HISTORY: hyunwoo’s childhood was exactly like him: quiet. growing up in small village on jeju island with his mother and father hyunwoo grew up surrounded by animals and plants. most of his time as a child was spent tending to the animals and crops around the land. on the occasional weekend his father would take him around the island and to hallasan to bond over the nature. his mother’s grandparents and other village elders often took turns taking care of hyunwoo. they were especially happy to spoil the small child as he was one of the few children in the village. he was happy with his quiet life.

as he watched the boat burn in the distance he could feel the heavy weight of his father’s hand on his shoulder. they move to iceland. it was difficult for the two of them to adjust to life on jeju when it was filled with memories that they could never return to. his father wanted to remain hopeful for the two of them. a visit back to their homeland would do the body and the mind good. iceland was vastly different from jeju. hyunwoo expected the climate to be difficult to adjust to, jumping from a tropical climate to a cold and temperate one. however, it was like his body had been made for the snow.

with no time to homeschool hyunwoo now, for the first time in his life he was enrolled in a public school. it was difficult for him to adjust. the people of iceland were very kind, but he was eleven and learning a new language, especially one as difficult as icelandic, was a feat. the longer it took him to learn the language the less the children wanted to befriend him. it didn’t help that he was already quieter than most other children his age.

he doesn’t figure out that he’s special until he’s fifteen. a dare from the local boys. its nothing unusual to see kids running around on top of the ice during the winter. hyunwoo steps on a patch that’s just barely frozen over and when the ice starts to crack all of it unravels. in that moment of panic, where hyunwoo starts to accept that he’ll return to the water where his mother resides. when he wakes up hours later on the side of the water, there’s a tree branch wrapped around his wrist.

his father hesitates to explain. he just wanted to hyunwoo to live a normal life. they move to mount phoenix. despite the promise that mount phoenix brings, the two of them continue to live in relative seclusion. they spend most of their days bonding in the woods, like they used to when hyunwoo as a child, but now his father dedicates most of the time to helping hyunwoo to hone his powers. life is calmer, but home is a hard to define.

enhanced body: as his father is known as the strongest god after Thor his body is built much sturdier than regular humans, able to withstand extreme temperatures and although not faster than a normal human his stamina and strength are incomparable

STRENGTHS:

high creative value in his powers, able to shape and manipulate wood to his desires so long as he has the imagination and control

his powers can be used for a variety of skills not only for attack and defense, but shelter and medicine as well even being able to gain the ability of seismic sense through the roots of the tree

despite many areas being covered with concrete and nature is being overrun he can grow and manipulate even the smallest piece of wood to something humongous

WEAKNESSES:

limited to wood/woody plants

the more detailed and smooth the action has to be the more focus it requires out of him and this takes up an immense amount of mental and physical energy

although very in control of his emotions because he has such strong feelings for vengeance, if his emotions become too strong or extreme his powers will react accordingly and can become very dangerous

he cannot create new plants. say he comes across an oak tree he cannot manipulate the genetic makeup of the tree to make it into a maple tree.

as strong as wood is, at the end of the day it is still wood and falls victim to wood’s typical weaknesses
