kdshfwe ok so i went back and reread both vision qualifications and sunshowers to jog my memory of how visions being taken away works (oh the irony) and from the way you portrayed, the longer and more unstable you are the more memory loss takes place. i swear i could remember a scene where y/n had their vision in their pocket most of the time, but i literally cant find it anywhere i cant tell if im blind or just remembering wrong or whatever (1/?)

I don't think Alhaitham would steal away (Y/n)'s vision– it ruins whatever he's trying to do. He wants them to be near him as much as possible, which means that if they receive a geo vision (it was bound to happen), they'll be busy with engineering, which is pretty much the path to thread away from him. Dendro vision, on the other hand, would give them more opportunities to collaborate. The reader is plenty competent to work in the Haravatat. They've been invited loads of times by the sages but they declined.

It's a good thing Zhongli values contracts above all else, hmm?

(Y/n) doesn't genuinely recall Alhaitham's face most of the time, not just because they're not carrying their "damn grass vision" but because they're REALLY spiteful. Which is, well, funny for me lmao. That's why Alhaitham keeps bothering them and forcing them to remember him. 

They're actively trying to avoid him. If they got the idea that having their vision taken away would help them forget who Alhaitham is then they'd probably consider having it gone forever, only as a threat. They're petty in their own right– I've been writing a more crackfic-like part 2 to VisiQual and it glosses over why (Y/n) forgets faces easily. It uses Crying Anon's elf!reader idea and it's been really fun!… until fricking mafia au!Cyno kicked my door down–

I honestly can't tell if I deleted the pocket thing or if we both hallucinated it. I sometimes edit fics but they're mostly just for grammar errors. I did have a scrapped idea about Alhaitham scolding the reader to stop leaving their vision anywhere unattended and the reader snapped– but I hated how emotional it turned out. The reader felt too similar to Kaveh so I added the "If Kaveh's incredibly verbose dislike for Alhaitham is considered normal, then you are a man of few words" line in the final draft. I ended up loving how VisionQual's ending felt like a jumpscare so yeah (it's obvious by now, but I love plot twists lmao)

"If Alhaitham ever decided to take (Y/n)'s vision away how quic–" faster than you could say "Akademiya" my friend LMAO. They'll probably ramble about Kaveh and think he owns Alhaitham's house. He is GONE 🦀

So finally: "If, hypothetically, haitham takes away y/n’s vision, why, and how would both of them react?"

The only reason I can see Alhaitham taking (Y/n)'s dendro vision away is to make them temporarily compliant. He hates it. It's like cheating on a test. He'd secretly prefer hearing (Y/n) scream out should he kidnap them, even if it's inefficient. Alhaitham would return the vision in no time. He traded a part of him for you to earn that dendro vision, and he's not letting you lose it.

As I mentioned above, taking (Y/n)'s vision is counterproductive, but once he permanently snatched (Y/n)'s vision away he'd be the most affected. Alhaitham admires his darling's wit and spiteful nature, yanking that aspect out will surely topple the Jenga tower, you know? Not my best analogy but I think it sums it up rather well. Without that drive, the reader wouldn't have made an outstanding presentation just to prove a point. He thinks they're incredible the way they are. I think Alhaitham's the type who wouldn't care much if you hate him, as long as you won't be with anyone else, he's "content" with that. Take away (Y/n)'s dendro vision and make his "building rapport" activities meaningless. 

How would (Y/n) react and behave? They'd easily turn into a mad scholar. They don't know why they're so passionate about reading engineering textbooks despite forgetting everything they've learned the next morning. They'd wake up every day crying, feeling like something is missing. It's a cruel cycle. Taking their vision away long enough helps no one.

Sidenote: I never thought I'd see Sunshowers mentioned in an ask ( ☉⁠｡⁠☉⁠)!! The fox reader in Sunshowers is numb as heck after Ei took their vision. While, yes, they remember Ei cause she's always there, they don't recall anything else… I wanted to imply that the reader had a relationship with Miko but it's an Ei fic dyifakaoodsf. Kitsune no yomeiri means Fox Wedding. Both Yae and the reader are foxes. That phenomenon happens when it rains. The reader has hydro visio–

Genuinely curious question, how do you think Al Haitham would interact with Histerical Humanoid Reader? Would he dismiss us? Would he follow us around for observation?

Personally, while I do see the appeal, I'm not a fan of SAGAU fics where all the characters are obsessed with you. Religious figures in the real world have their fair share of opposers as well, right? I think Alhaitham wouldn't care for our "impostor"/creator reader at all, much like how Ayato doesn't like how Ayaka depends on the Creator instead of her older brother and the rest of the clan.

I'm more inclined with this idea that VisionQual & HysHum exists in the same universe. Alhaitham has his own goals and pleasing some "Creator" isn't one of them. Besides, if Nahida thinks Alhaitham is arrogant for looking down at the "mediocre majority", how on earth will our reader form better opinions of him?

Plus, I just think Elf!Reader and HysHum!reader being besties is one of the cutest thing I ever brought in this cursed blog. HysHum!reader absolutely admonishes Alhaitham for all the sht he's done to the poor elf while he puts on his earplugs lmao
