Junto Nakatani (26-0) Highlights & Knockouts
By: Themistocles
Junto Nakatani (26-0, 19 KOs) had the KO of the Year in 2023, sending poor Andrew Moloney to the shadow realm after battering him for 12 rounds. It was a fantastic performance that saw him win the WBO super flyweight title making him a 2 division champion. Since it was also aired on ESPN, it also propelled him into the consciousness of fans in the U.S.
The 26 year old has recently vacated the title as he is moving up to bantamweight. He will challenge WBC champion Alejandro Santiago (28-3-5), whom is coming off a win over Nonito Donaire, this Saturday (Feb. 24).

#whatshot #djblaze #onthewatch It's All About @naoyainoue_410 vs @paulbutler1961 #fightnight #inouebutler 🔥👆🏿🥊 Blaze- I expected to see two warrior Champions go blow for blow inside that squared circle vying for that Undisputed Crown but instead I witnessed the “Monster” Inoue establish immediate fear into his opponent causing him to retreat into survivor mode from round 1 and on. For Butler to travel from the United Kingdom to Tokyo and not perform like the Champion that he is, was very disappointing. Butler talked a good game from the jump but failed miserably when faced head on with Inoue inside that squared circle. There are levels to this boxing sh*t and clearly Inoue was 10 notches above Butler who had absolutely no answer and lacked a “game plan” to contain or deter the stronger, faster, smarter combatant from having his way with him inside that squared circle.Inoue’s punches were thumping with accuracy round by round and even when Butler attempted to utilize the ring by moving away, he was met with an aggressive flurry of punches at every corner. Butler looked like a moving punching bag trying to survive a never-ending onslaught. Entering the 11th round Inoue was ready to close the show and close the show he did when the crowd in attendance rallied behind their star, motivating him to punish his opponent with a flurry of body to head shots breaking Butler down who was unable to answer the count by the referee. Although Butler did not behave like a Champion on this night, he did prove to be a tough Dude to withstand such a one-sided beatdown for eleven rounds at the hands of Naoya “Monster” Inoue – the New Undisputed WBA/WBC/WBO/IBF and Ring Magazine Bantamweight Champion of the world. Congratulations Naoya on you latest history making accomplishment. 🔥👆🏿🥊 Read Write Up Here 👉🏿Blazinone.com #boxingnews #soundtrackoftheday #hiphop #rnb For all the #boxing #basketball #cigar #smokers #music heads www.blazinone.com🔥👆🏿🎶 https://www.instagram.com/p/CmL97_jO1iD/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Scottish boxer and WBC world flyweight champion Walter McGowan was born on October 13th 1942.
Born in Burnbank on 13th October 1942, Walter started boxing at just 9 years old, he was noted for his brilliant footwork in the ring.
McGowan won the Amateur Boxing Association (ABA) flyweight title in 1961 and became British and Commonwealth flyweight champion by beating Jackie Brown in Paisley on 2 May 1963, aged 20.
He became world flyweight champion in June 1966 with a victory over Salvatore Burruni at the Empire Pool in London.
Fans who didn’t travel to London watched the world title win on the big screen at the former ABC Cinema in Keith Street, Hamilton. He had fought Burruni for the European title in Rome in 1964, but the Italian retained the belt after benefiting from what many fight fans considered a `home-town’ decision.
Walter returned to Hamilton the next day to be welcomed by fans carrying placards saying `welcome home, champ’.
The first thing he did was to visit his mother, who had been ill, and then show the world championship trophy to the “jubilant men, housewives and schoolchildren” who had gather outside his Burnbank gym to acclaim one of Scottish boxing’s greatest achievements.
Brave Walter lost the title in the same year to Chartchai Chionoi and failed to regain the crown in 1967 in a re-match with the Thai.
Dad-of-two Walter retired from the fight game in 1969 and went on to help train other boxers and run a pub, the Fly Wait, in Carluke.
Walter was inducted into Scottish boxing’s hall of fame in 2002, prompting this fulsome tribute from Jim Watt, the Glasgow fighter who held the world lightweight title between 1979 and 1981.
Jim said Walter had the distinction of holding five major crowns: British, Empire and World flyweight titles, and British and Empire bantamweight titles.
“You would have been glad just to hold one of those titles,” said Jim. “But Walter had everything; he was good on his feet and threw all the punches.
“Walter was a genuine world class fighter. Today, the term ‘world class’ has been diluted because of the way the game has gone.
“But in Walter’s era, even to fight for a world title was an achievement, never mind winning one.
“And remember that Walter won the world title and then lost it as a result of an injury. And injury apart, he would probably have gone on to establish himself as a great world champion.”
Walter McGowan passed away at Monklands Hospital, in 2016 aged 73, he had been in poor health in his later years and was living in a nursing home in Bellshill.

Sean O’Malley confident he’s 2 wins away from Ryan Garcia boxing match, Garcia responds
Sean O’Malley isn’t crossing over into boxing. Yet. The reigning UFC bantamweight champion recently drew interest from boxing star Ryan Garcia, who said he would “destroy” O’Malley in an MMA rules contest during an appearance on The MMA Hour. Garcia defeated WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney — the title was not up for grabs due to Garcia missing weight by 3.2 pounds — in a thriller this…

Eder Jofre, Brazil’s greatest boxer, has passed away.
Tumblr media
Sad news as Eder Jofre, the greatest Brazilian boxer and one of the greatest boxers ever period, has passed at 86 years old. He was Brazil’s first ever world champion, going 72-2-4 (50 KOs) over his career. He first won the bantamweight title in 1960(NBA) - 1961 (Ring Magazine) before capturing the more recognizable WBA and WBC titles in 1963 and 1964 respectively. In 1973 he’d go on to win the WBC featherweight title.
In 2002, Jofre’s accomplishments landed him #19 on the Ring Magazine’s list of greatest fighters of the last 80 years. He also grabbed the #85 spot on the Ring’s 100 greatest punchers in the history of the sport.
As always, haNZAgod on YouTube has a fantastic highlight reel of Jofre’s career.
youtube
And if you want a fight rec, go check out his fights with Japanese great Fighting Harada. Here’s their first fight from 1965.
youtube
For a more detailed look at his career, check out this article on The Fight Site from Kyle McLachlan
He was apparently hospitalized in March due to complications with pneumonia and has been there since. Glad he’s finally able to rest peacefully. Rest In Peace. 🇧🇷

Lomachenko-Kambosos headlines televised tripleheader from RAC Arena LIVE on ESPN, ESPN Deportes & ESPN+ SATURDAY @ 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT
PERTH, Western Australia —The fighter known simply as "Loma" hopes to add another belt to his extensive collection.
Ukrainian fighting legend Vasiliy Lomachenko will battle home country favorite "Ferocious" George Kambosos Jr. for the vacant IBF lightweight world championship on Sunday, May 12, at RAC Arena in Perth, Western Australia. Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs), the former three-weight world champion and pound-for-pound king of the ring, hopes to become a two-time lightweight world champion.
Kambosos (21-2, 10 KOs), a former lineal and unified lightweight king, looks to once again stake his claim as the sport's top 135-pounder. The event will be shown LIVE in prime time on Saturday, May 11 in the United States. In a world championship special attraction, just before the main event, Great Britain's WBA bantamweight world champion Nina Hughes (6-0, 2 KOs) makes her second world title defense against Australian former world champion Cherneka Johnson (15-2, 6 KOs).   The ESPN-televised broadcast kicks off with the return of Andrew Moloney (26-3, 16 KOs), who takes on Mexican former world champion Pedro Guevara (41-4-1, 22 KOs) for the vacant WBC Interim junior bantamweight championship.   Lomachenko-Kambosos, Hughes-Johnson, and Moloney-Guevara will be broadcast live on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN+ at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. At Thursday's press conference, Lomachenko and Kambosos engaged in mental warfare. Their faceoff lasted a cool 3 minutes, 12 seconds. Event co-promoter Lou DiBella and veteran heavyweight Lucas Browne separated the combatants. Before the extended staredown, this is what the fighters and Top Rank Chairman Bob Arum had to say.  Vasiliy Lomachenko   “I’ve been in this sport for a long time. We are two professionals. We know boxing. We know strategy. It will be very, very interesting for both. It will be very, very interesting for all fans of boxing. Good luck. Good luck to both.”   “We have a fight. We prepared very hard. And like I said, it will be very interesting.”   “I’m just looking forward to the IBF title. I need to take my title, and then after that, I can think about my future.”    Bob Arum   “I’m looking forward to this. It should be a sold-out event, a great lightweight championship match. Vasiliy Lomachenko is a splendid tactician, and I enjoy watching him. George Kambosos is a real warrior. He comes to fight. He’s very exciting. This fight will be memorable, and I can’t wait to see it. And I know fans all over the world are looking forward to it.”   George Kambosos Jr.   “We were slated to possibly fight in 2019 when the legendary Hall of Famer Bob Arum said that a young guy from Australia called George Kambosos could come up against the then-king Lomachenko. Things obviously did not happen. Then I become the champion and Lomachenko was chasing me. We were very close. But it wasn’t meant to be. But, third time is lucky, and Sunday is when we do our battle.”   “I’m extremely confident. I bring that confidence from my preparation. I’ve had a tremendous training camp. The confidence is higher than ever. When I beat Lomachenko, there will be no more road for him to go. This is retirement for him.”   “I truly believe it. The way I’m sparring. The speed that I have. He’s never seen this kind of speed and explosive power. The will and the heart that I have. The desire I have to win this fight. I want this bad. I’ve prepared extremely hard for this fight. I’ve left no stone unturned. So, Sunday, you will all see.” Andrew Moloney   “For both of us, this is probably the last shot at a world title. So, there is a lot on the line, and that’s why I prepared my absolute best.”   “It’s been four years since I lost my title, and it’s been a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get back to this point. And it’s going to feel good to have that world title strapped around my waist.”   Pedro Guevara   “I’m grateful for this opportunity. So, I’m going to fight like it’s my last opportunity. He’s coming in good condition for this fight, and so am I. You’re going to see a great fight. Don’t forget my name because you’re going to have a new champion from Mexico.”   Nina Hughes   “The crowed may well be on her side, but at the end of the day, there’s only two of us in the ring. So, I’ve just got to put on a performance and do what I do best.”   “We’ve prepared for everything. We’ve prepared for all styles. So, whatever she brings, we’re prepared for it.” Cherneka Johnson                                             “I’m grateful to be on this show. To fight for a world title here in my backyard is amazing.”   I’m expecting a fight. She’s a world champion for a reason. It’s going to be a hell of a fight. I think I’m going to be the bigger person in there on the night of the fight. I’m going to be a bit stronger than her. It’s going to be a banger.”
