QUESTIONS FOR MUNS OF OC MUSES

1.) Why did you create this muse?

Short version: Captain Frascona was initially the first--only--villain for Devil’s Eye! All the way back in 2001!

Long version:

Draft 1 was the story around 2001-2002. Back then, there were only six characters: a swabbie named Johnny, his kleptomaniac lady Captain Ravyn, her ornery First Mate Amir, their eccentric ship surgeon Dr. Tripoli, and the mischievous ship cook/carpenter Sing-Lung.

And besides them, who do they have? Their trusted Quartermaster, Mr. Mortimer, whose running joke was that he was old and ugly.

Except... LO AND BEHOLD, the trusted Quartermaster wasn’t old and ugly--or mortal! He was a young and handsome (???) guy in disguise named Josef (with an f) Frascona, and he’s here to commit mutiny and steal the Devil’s Eye! Why? So he can have serve the DEVIL IN HELL, AHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA.

..... I was 13. The fella was named after two bullies who harassed me often in middle school, for crying out loud.

Captain Frascona didn’t start resembling the complete mental mess of a man until around 2005, during the first RP with CappnRob. Prior to that, he was just a generic spooky pirate captain. But by 2005-2007, he was shaping up to be a broody emo angy angsty generic spooky pirate captain! :D

To be honest? The Captain Frascona we know now? It’s thanks to his massive character development in Ira/Avaritia, and by extension, Midsummer Misery. So Josep had very literally twenty (20) years to develop! 2001-2021!!

Will I say he’s the Big Bad now? Of course not. Nowadays, he narratively serves as the lead Heavy (as Captain of the Seven Deadly Sin pirates) in the story of the Devil’s Eye.
