Hi! (^o^)/ I dunno if you've already answered it somewhere, but I couldn't see! So i thought I'd ask! How did Colette end up working at the Gold Saucer?!

I HAVE NOT !!!! 💖💦 I forgor. :’3

Colette gets her job at the Gold Saucer because she and Colette arrive on the back of that dusty Chocobo cart with about a thousand Gil to their name total. They need cash to live, if they don’t intend to end up like the refugee’s starving outside the city walls. So they sort of pick up being mercenary-adventurer’s, but Colette is seeking to safe guard Setsuna from danger, and neither of them are making them much money; it’s actually Godbert who steps in after she’d taken out a particularly predatory loan to make sure they could gear up AND still have food and board and unfortunately lessons at the black mages guild… she was running late on payments and was seeking any possibly way to come up with the Gil, when he offers her a job opportunity after over hearing her distress :T (along with an advance bonus to clear her debt. Part of her contract disallows her from taking any other loans from anyone not approved by the Manderville Family, but she hasn’t really needed to since getting employed there-)

Her boss has been understanding of her numerous leave of absences, while traveling with Setsuna tailing after the Warriors of Light, though she comes back to work whenever she can. Some of her early jobs were just ‘promotionals’ for the Gold Saucer, and assisting in running Mahjong Tables and bar service. (Setsuna’s echo is.. seeing SPECIFICALLY what Kizuna and Ishi had done, through their eyes, so she’s sort of retracing their steps while trying to understand what it all means*)

She typically works all the holidays, and weaponizes the way people seem to like looking at her for bigger tips. It’s sometimes exhausting to be ogled so much, but the pay is too good to quit, and she honestly respects Godbert enough to not try to slither out of her contract.. She’s simply not interested in having sex with anybody (aside from Setsuna, and they haven’t even figured out they have a crush on each other yet. So it’s like a Future Exception.). Her most frequent phrase is “Darling, you could not AFFORD me.”

She recently spent a short stint in one of the Water-imp costumes, having always wanted to try dressing up as one of the famous gold Saucer Cactuars; those costumes only came in lalafell sizes, so her Cactuar costumed dreams are, for now, in the trash. She uses a Gold Saucer Black Mage Staff as part of a sponsorship deal. Eventually also picks up the Dark Knight Weapon, though hers is a different material from the ones behind the counter. Even still, she doesn’t fight with it, worrying it’ll break. She’s used to the heavier duty weapons a proper Monster Hunter wields, crafted from monster parts.

*Setsuna belongs to one of my partners and it’s been a minute since we hashed out all the details, and if it was written down, by god, I can’t find it, so this might be mildly inaccurate, but the gist of following the main WoL’s is correct.
