NPC: Marrigan!

I scried and tried to replicate Merrigan from the Unfathomable Odyssey event and now I'm working on a breeding project to make them an actual dragon! I have a pair that can give me the right colors, I'm just waiting for them to be ready to breed!

(Had to take some creative liberty in the apparel choices, but I think I matched their aesthetic well)

I tried not to deviate from his original design too much, but include more cetacean/dolphin features, hopefully I did okay

Dive 1 - resting

Dive 1 - Complete The expedition is taking a well-deserved break. Once they begin their next dive, they'll immediately need to start replenishing their supplies. Check back later! While the event is in a Rest Phase, any supplies turned in will not contribute to the Sitewide Effort, but will count as participation for the purpose of collecting the reward from the phase.

Merrigan: Aha! What did I tell you? Treasure! Beautiful, glorious treasure! Oh, err, and more information, of course... We were able to map out what's changed since our last visit... oh, several decades ago, I'd say. Reefs are naturally resilient against most underwater currents—they double as wavebreakers for delicate shorelines—but the tempest was powerful enough to damage the coral. Upsetting, but at least it told a clear story for us to follow. If there were signs of the Tidelord here, they'd have been displaced. Any debris would have been carried off in the direction of Saltmire Trench. You know, it's strange. Fathoms have named wayfinder after wayfinder for generations, but we've circled the globe so many times that the role always seemed to me like some... outdated tradition, all pomp and little substance. Not that I wasn't honored to be selected! My grandmother carried out the same duties with such elegance and patience—all the navigation, the storm-tracking, the charts and maps and exploration, the... responsibility. It's just... well, I am younger than most in my pod. At this point, older Fathoms hardly even need to glance at an astrolabe anymore. I never thought they'd all be looking to me for something this... dire. Anyway, you didn't come here to listen to some overgrown hatchling wax on, you're just trying to help! Thanks for that, by the way. We've got the start of a base up and running, and the Sour Kelp is just what we need after a long dive. It helps ward off the Scale Scurvy! What, you've never heard of Scale Scurvy? Well, let me tell you, it's no j—nevermind, there's no time to get into details. You need to prepare for more gathering! Well, err, please. And... thank you. Again. Yeah, all right, I'll... I'll see you at the trench!

Final review

Merrigan: Incredible... Of everything I had imagined on this search, hearing the Tidelord's voice... Such a profound brush with our very origins! The seers were thankfully able to translate the message, but this raises so many new questions... What was part of the Pillar of the World doing down here? What are these cores and why are they so important? Where are they now? Unlikeliest places? Oof, there's much to learn. And we still don't know what happened to the Tidelord... The damage to his message has me worried that something nefarious is at work. Our dives may be done for now, but there is still plenty of mystery left to solve. I've spoken with the rest of my pod, and we've decided to drop anchor here for a while to help. We'll contact other pods, too, to update them and see if they wish to come help. None of us are accustomed to staying in one place for long, so this is going to be... a challenging adjustment. I don't think we've anything to worry about, though. Aguar has already agreed to serve as an ambassador while we get settled in, and I get the impression you'll be right there with us, too... Just as you have been. I can't thank you enough. We've circumnavigated the oceans for so long with nothing remarkable to speak of, I had settled myself in for a life of boring routines. I'd forgotten the importance of a wayfinder's duties—and more, I had lost sight of the sheer breadth of novelty the oceans contain. Even the eldest of us could never behold the beauty of every reef, every ridge and trench, but there is no greater thrill in life than to try anyway. Whatever comes of the Tidelord's disappearance in the end, I will be heartened to face it beside all of you.

Dive 1!

First, the general introduction text:

Unfathomable Odyssey

'Round the world and home again...

Dive 1 - In Progress The dive expedition is currently in progress, led by Wayfinder Merrigan (they/he/she). The Fathoms and their Water flight allies are hard at work and will need a steady stream of supplies in order to continue their investigation. Rigging, Sailcloth, and Teak Planks will help build and improve a vessel to serve as the base of operations for each expedition, so that the Fathoms can more easily collaborate with local dragons. Sour Kelp will keep the Fathoms nourished and healthy during their arduous task.

Merrigan: Ah, hello, well met. I am Wayfinder Merrigan, the navigator extraordinaire who has been leading the Fathoms' latest circuit around the globe! We've just arrived back in these waters and, err... we, uh... well, it seems like quite a bit has happened since last we visited... Aguar and Tetra have been filling me in. The maelstrom that hit the Sea of a Thousand Currents is troubling enough, but the Tidelord? Missing? He is certainly prone to cryptic mystery and all, but that is... alarming. We're joining the seers in their investigation. Fathoms are the most capable divers around—if there are clues to what happened, we'll find them! Besides, we'll need to update our charts. The storm system that caused the maelstrom must have been massive. Who knows what we'll find down there now... well. Aside from the treasure! There's always some colorful, unique treasures to be found while mapping! Just, uh, a little bonus to fulfilling all the traditional duties of my role, of course... Anyway, given how dire things are, I'm sure we won't find the Tidelord himself, but I can at least trace the changes in the environment since our last circuit. With his gift of prophecy, he must have left something behind! We've already started our investigation of Tidesong Reef here. All the diverse coral and wildlife will make it easy to spot anything that's been altered. Gather what you can in the meantime—anything helps!
