It's my birthday today!

So here are some OLD Roman fun facts!

Roman Times New wasn't originally going to be her name at first. I was going to follow my normal OC naming convention something short and sweet. Violet/Vi was floating in my head as well as Lavender/Lavi, but then I decided just to follow skeleton naming rules. Scanning the fonts I was looking for ones that were feminine in nature so like Arial, Calibri, Lucida etc etc. But I wasn't a fan of how the font looked to my eyes in relation to Roman herself and so I just tested a bunch of random fonts. Times New Roman just fit and looked the best to my eyes.

Roman's story was going to involve AU's more heavily. Those that know about Tsum Roman know that VERY early on I was heavily involving AU's. Unlike now where AU's are used as just places Roman goes to, granted still involving heavy AU interest such as with Nightmare. Of course the only big AU involved is well Pinktale made by @bettinalevyisdetermined . Because her bestie Joyce lives there thus why I kept it involved in the story.

Webdings was going to be more cold. This goes back to the Tsum Roman days, Webdings DID have an appearance (granted as a black shadow) but her look was VERY different to how she is now. Webdings was going to be more cold and cruel. Literally like as cruel as Handplates Gaster was. Granted on a lesser scale but pretty damn cold.

Shadow never existed at first. That's right, back in Tsum Roman days, Shadow didn't exist. Instead Roman was just imbued with really strong magic that had a kinda life of their own in a sense. Think like when people draw the Gaster Blasters as skull doggos. Basically her magic is it's own entity unnamed which got turned into Shadow when I had an actual story.

AAAAAAA there's nothing more I enjoy than translating Wingdings , it's so much fun. I originally learnt it because i had a hardcore undertale phase in high school when the game initially came out

I originally only learnt uppercase cause gaster (and associated fanart) only used uppercase, but now I'm trying to learn lowercase

ALONG with that, I'm learning WEBdings, which is its own alphabet but very similar in style to Wingdings

I was listening to some old school music that used to be played at the roller ring when I was a kid and just had the urge to draw Asgore, Toriel, Wingdings, Zapf, and Webdings back in the 1970’s. Webdings had a stash of wigs to wear to parties and junk.

Might finish it later and color it.

Thinks about how the blue addison said the phone was just garbage noise and thought what if it’s Windings? Then thought maybe that’s why Spamton was the only one to understand it.

Windings is a bunch of symbols and signs which is just garbage text is you don’t understand how to decipher it. Vocally, it probably sounds the way it looks in UTDR do it’s not far to say “garbage noise” is just spoken Windings that no one can understand. The closest thing cyber citizens would probably have to wingdings is Webdings which is still very different in translation.

Now, the reason I think Spamton could understand it was because he is Spam email. Those emails often incorporate Windings or WebDings to get pass censors and blockers, meaning it wasn’t just chance that Spam was the one targeted, more so, he was the only one who could understand the garbage noise coming from the speaker as he is used to using it. Maybe the caller had called other people but they could not decipher what is a essentially foregin language to them, but then Spam, a crude speaker, could parse some of it and that’s why the caller latched onto him.

Ok so, I just HAD to add Gaster to Combotale. And he's actually a (not really) important character!

This Gaster is very much a joker, taunting his enemies and smiling even if he's about to be dusted. I like his design! Although it might change in the future, who knows! Oh! And one last thing! Him, Papyrus, and Muffet speak in something called "Webdings". So Gaster basically knows three languages! Pretty cool right?

SANS & PAPYRUS FAMILY HEADCANONS 101

if you’ve been here for a while, you’ve probably seen me talk about how gaster is sans and papyrus’ uncle, how the boys’ parents died in the war, and how gaster raised them more or less as his own sons. i’ve written a post about the family which you can read here.

a while back, @vertebralheights drew the skelefam for me, so i figured it was high time i posted this gem and talked about them MORE! (side note: ivy is one of the best artists i know and i’m not just saying that because she’s one of my best friends and her talent for drawing skeletons especially in unmatched --- she sometimes has commissions open so if you need someone to draw your muses, seriously hit her up)

and so, without further ado...

PAPYRUS. the youngest of the pair. he was just a baby when the war ended

(COMIC) SANS. the older brother. he was eight years old at the end of the war. is his name really comic sans? no one knows, and he’ll never tell.

WINGDINGS (later known just as W.D. Gaster). the brothers’ maternal uncle. a scientist who served the kings (first asgore’s father, than asgore himself) during the war.

S.A. SERIF. the brothers’ father. if the s and a stand for anything, he’s not telling. usually just goes by sas. his friends call him sassafras as a joke sometimes. carefree and a wannabe pirate, sas would prefer to spend his time playing the piano. he’s not much of a fighter, and he died by his wife’s side in the war.

WEBDINGS ASTER. the brothers’ mother, older sister to wingdings. an artist in a family of academics, webdings is a free spirit, and a painter, among her other talents. she’s smart and inquisitive, but the sciences and humanities just weren’t for her. she died with sas in the war, leaving the care of her children to her younger brother.

Webdings as Ghost Rider (he had a little help with not burning to death [[haha]] to get the look) and Tatters as a yeti but he’s too cute to look scary it’s a curse lmao.
