Rakul Preet Singh is a Sikh girl from Delhi who was raised in a middle-class household. She made her parents proud when she debuted in the Kannada film "Gilli" in 2009. Rakul competed in the 2011 Femina Miss India contest, and her unstoppable triumph has won millions of hearts. Rakul Preet's success as a rising star in Bollywood was also made possible by her several Femina titles. She hasn't only confined herself to the screen, though; she has also spent time and money on various off-screen ventures. Now let's scroll down to Rakul Preet Singh's home, where grace and wisdom coexist.

Three annoying, but also kinda very Bollywood, things.
1- The song Saathiya (the only song in the movie!), if you get past the sorta ridiculous lyrics, is the perfect set-up for a slower, maybe romantic (again, ignore the lyrics) song. The music is slow, the singing is slow - and yet, to make it (inexplicably) a dance song, the music is randomly made 'fast-paced' and our lead pair is made to dance as if it's the next great dance song. It's not, and it makes the whole thing very, very awkward. Also, the song probably wasn't necessary at all.
2- His niece disappears (well, is taken) while he's away but his brother-in-law - also a cop - is at home. Yet his sister (sure, brother/sister bond, maybe) waits till he is home and then is like "bring her home." Like, what about your husband - the actual cop who got him this posting?! ... Of course, a bit later, his bro-in-law is also like "you have to save her, because you love her even more than I do, don't you?". This guy spent 7 years being a failed filmmaker (failed in the sense that he never made a film), and yet you're putting more faith in his few weeks (maybe months, the timelines isn't very clear) of duty than your years of it.
3- Most Bollywood of all - the climax starts of with her getting slashed in the abdomen and then her niece taken. He shows up and she's like "go save my niece," which he of course goes off to do. She then, eventually, follows behind - without calling a doctor for herself or, even worse, without calling the cops! Like, what is she planning on doing? She's already wounded. If something happens to him, she not only won't be able to save her niece, she wouldn't be able to save herself. And yet, there is no help on the way. Like, I get you're frightened, but, I don't know. Let someone know where you're going and then ignore them when they say "let us take care of it; stay home" instead of just not telling them. Lucky for them all, I guess, that he's a hero so he was bound to end things successfully. ... I mean, even at the very end, they all just walk away. No sign of anyone coming at all.
Chandrachur Singh and, to a much lesser extent (only because she really has no real role) Hrishitaa Bhatt were cool to see on screen again. It's been a while. Of course, eventually the director gets sick of trying to find ways to include them (especially her), so they just go off to her town and disappear from the story. Rakul Preet Singh gets to be the one that lets him know about the rickshaw, the recording hearing aid, and the information about our culprit; gets to try and dance to that non-dancey song; and even gets to impress with some sign language usage; so I guess at least they didn't make her completely 'sidepiece' level, as Bollywood loves to do in these types of movies (actually, all types of movies).
The final reveal is interesting (though, is that the same house exterior that the bad guy used in Forensic?), but seems slightly rushed. Which I guess is fine, because prolonging that might've made things even more creepy - which isn't great; on the other hand, maybe they could've focused more on that and less on that horrific song (since clearly they didn't focus much on it anyways).
Speaking of creepy, that teacher was creepy as fuck. That he's apparently been doing this for years and yet no student has complained to their parents - because they're more concerned about their parents being mad about them getting bad grades - is a horrific statement about both people and the culture. I mean, don't get me wrong, education is important, but to instill such a sense of fear that this ... horrific/disgusting alternative ... is considered a better option by the students just makes you wonder about these parents. A lot.
I'm not sure I'd put the movie above HIT or Forensic as the 'best Bollywood whodunnit of 2022,' but it's not so much a bad movie as it a movie that just takes some some cinematic "hero does everything" liberties. And also, that song.

Latest Bollywood News: Deepika Padukone's former manager appeared at the NCB office after a day disappearance |
A day after her disappearance, Deepika Padukone's former manager appeared at the NCB office.
Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone's manager Karisma Prakash appeared at the Narcotics Control Bureau office on Wednesday as per the scheduled date after being missing for a day. Incidentally, a search of NCB Karisma Versova's house turned up 1.8 grams of hashish and three bottles of CBD oil. The NCB then summoned him.
Tumblr media
Investigators said Karisma was missing and did not respond to a summons. Karisma Prakash had applied for interim bail before appearing for questioning at the NCB office on Wednesday. According to a Mumbai court order, Karisma cannot be arrested till November 8. According to special sources, Karisma has already left the talent agency Kewan. He is not even associated with Deepika Padukone in any way.
It is learned that NCB has sent summons to Karisma as well as employees of Kewan Talent Agency. This Kewan Talent Agency has a big role to play in proving Bollywood drug addiction. Incidentally, the investigation took a turn after the body of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput was recovered from a flat in Bandra on June 14. The NCB has launched an investigation into Bollywood's drug addiction, where Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet are being questioned.

KNOCKING WITH ‘CLUB YOU TO DEATH’
Tumblr media
A lockdown project, which she started in January and wrapped up in June this year, the recently released fiction title ‘Club You to Death’ by writer Anuja Chauhan (HarperCollins India) may not be gory, but it has all the elements of ‘cozy crime’.
“Just like the works of Agatha Christie or Dorothy Sayers, authors who I have always enjoyed reading. Set in Delhi, ‘Club You to Death’ is set in the heart of the Lutyens’ zone, in a posh club that everybody wants to be a member of, but very few people get to be. That’s the setting where the murder happens. It is slightly different from what I’ve written before and was an interesting write,” said the author who also wrote ‘The Zoya Factor’, which was adapted into a film starring Sonam Kapoor.
While several film and television production houses have already started showing interest in ‘Club You to Death’, the writer said that her focus is on the book at the moment. “There seems to be a lot of interest considering the fact that whodunits, like ‘Knives Out’ are so popular nowadays.”
Ask her if certain elements get lost during adaptations of her works for the screen, and she asserted that the same holds true for most books and not just hers. “Frankly, as a reader, I have always been disappointed. Whenever a favourite book is made into a movie, I wonder — ‘What is this’? If your first love is reading, then one is always going to be a little upset with the screen version.”
For someone who left a major advertising agency at the peak of her career to pursue full time writing, it was not really a tough call to make. “The creative bit is interesting, but as you move up the ladder, it means a lot of administration and HR work too. Considering I wanted to spend all my time writing, I felt it was better to just quit and then write full-time instead of having a fancy designation and not too much writing to do. The other thing is because in advertising and applied art, there’s always a lot of strategy, there’s a product to be sold, there’s a story to be told, and that can be a little limiting.”
Talking about her book ‘Baaz’, which had the 1971 war backdrop and has been taken up by Yash Raj Films, the writer says that while she researches for every work, this one involved reaching out to family members who were fighter pilots. “They introduced me to the people who had seen action. Also, it’s still easy to get hard facts, with my army background, I could get the soft material too.”
In a world where it is convenient to label and slot writers and artists, Chauhan, whose book ‘Those Pricey Thakur Girls’ is being adapted as a series for an OTT platform says that she prefers to ignore them for they make life poorer. “And you end up exploring a lot less. There are so many delightful surprises and discoveries, waiting out there. Sadly, we have labels everywhere, it is like saying that ‘Oh, you’re an actress, so don’t talk about politics’. We love putting people into little boxes, which is so absurd considering nobody lives in those spaces.”
Smiling that she does not really write for a ‘target audience’, Chauhan, who has written the screenplay for a film, a cross-border romance starring Arjun Kapoor, Rakul Preet Singh and Neena Gupta said that it is a much different process as compared to a book. “A screenplay is more collaborative. It’s always nice to work with people when you have been working alone on a book for too long. And the opposite holds true too.”

Actress Rakul Preet Singh was questioned by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Friday. According to reports, the actress told NCB that as per her , a 'doob' was merely a rolled cigarette and not necessarily something laced with any mind-altering substance.
Rakul Preet Singh was questioned for four hours by the NCB. The Whatsapp drug chats that surfaced earlier included the usage of terms like 'doob' and 'doobie'. Rakul said that the reference to the 'doob' in the WhatsApp chat with actress Rhea Chakraborty was merely to hand rolled tobacco and not any contraband. Reportedly, NCB found a WhatsApp chat where Rhea is seen asking Rakul if she had doob and Rakul replied saying it was at her house.
Rakul also told the investigating officers that she lost touch with Rhea over the last few years and that she herself had never been involved in any consumption or procurement of any contraband. Deepika Padukone's manager Karishma Prakash who was also questioned on Friday said that the reference of doobie was merely to rolled tobacco cigarettes.

If you haven’t seen Spyder, and want no spoilers before you see it, watch this spoiler free review of the film I recorded moments after seeing it.
I warned you ….. SOME SPOILERS AHEAD!!  (but not the whole plot)
The first thing you should know is that I am a Mahesh Babu fan.  I’ve seen several of his films, and my favorites are probably Athadu (killer disarmed by love!) and Pokiri.  Unfortunately, my first Mahesh Babu film in the theater was last year’s flop Brahmatsovam.   It’s been a long wait for the next Mahesh film, over a year.  I think he took the lessons from that flop, and hooked up with a quality director.  My friend Kartik even sent me a quote from Mahesh about that flop:
Tumblr media
So anticipation has been sky high for this film Spyder.  Expectations, too.  I felt it was a decent film.  Not perfect, but it had some notable sequences that were unique and something fresh I had not seen before.
I walked out of the theater satisfied, and I was surprised that several young men who cared enough to come to the very first 2 p.m. show were disappointed.  Maybe the hype was so high nothing would have been enough.  They said the second half was not a “practical” plot.  I think they wanted a more grounded story, like Pokiri or Athadu.  From the trailer we could see there would be huge boulder rolling down a street crushing cars — and that sequence was certainly in the film.  The last half felt almost like a disaster movie or a superhero film with buildings collapsing and villains wanting to crush people with huge boulders!  So, not realistic, but it didn’t bother me one bit.
Are all those village Telugu dramas with machete fights with one hero fighting 20 men realistic either?
AR Murugadoss set up a tight cat and mouse thriller between Mahesh and our big villain.  Mahesh is some sort of spy analyst.  I got the sense he worked in the equivalent of the Indian FBI.  He’s monitoring phone conversations ostensibly looking for terrorists and the like, but almost like Minority Report he prides himself on preventing crimes before they happen based on something he’s overheard.  He saves a young girl from being robbed and dishonored by a goon who has convinced her he’s going to marry her out of town.
But then a girl he overhears being scared in an empty house is murdered savagely, along with the woman cop he dispatched to check on her.  And that sends Mahesh into a crisis, and then ultimately on a solo quest to find their killer.
Mahesh Babu, Rakul Preet Singh @ Spyder Shooting Spot Images
In the first half, we get a tiny little romance track with the adorable Rakul Preet Singh. He overhears her discussing wanting a “blind date” and I think wanting a friends with benefits situation (something that maybe didn’t translate fully in the subtitles).  He stalks her a bit, and she confronts him on it.  But she eventually agrees if he’s not in love with her it will be okay for them to go out.  There is a hilarious scene where she tries to explain this to Mahesh’s mother — who warns Rakul Mahesh is shy, just like his father.  “It took four years of marriage for my son to be born!”  LOL
Tumblr media
There are a few flight of fantasy songs that show their feelings for each other, and a bit of their relationship.  The first song, Boom Boom, I liked much better in the film, than in the teaser snippets we saw.   That’s the first song, and for some reason has all white girl back up dancers!
Tumblr media
When Mahesh goes on a hunt for the killer, he uses a viral video to try to find someone who’s seen him.  This film has a lot of cool use of technology, with scenes of Mahesh monitoring real time cell phone calls, searching through CCTV footage and the like.  It was all very clever, and kind of scary to think how much info these agencies can gather.  There’s a speech in the beginning that the analysts in Mahesh’s office are not to monitor calls for personal reasons, but obviously Mahesh breaks that by listening in and researching Rakul!
The back story of the villain was super creepy and really unique.  I’ve never seen anything like it, as an origin for a sociopath serial killer.  While other reviewers may quibble that this took time away from the main story and slowed down the film, I really liked this segment of the movie.  That kid was a good actor — good at being super creepy and evil!!
There are actually two villains.  Won’t spoiler why, but they were both good.  Bharat is one, but the big bad is played by S. J. Surya.  He was mostly excellent playing this sociopath killer.  There was on interrogation scene where he really gets crazy and it was over the top for me, but especially this scene above with the mask.  Whew!  So good at being evil.
At times in the second half, it felt like he was becoming an over sized super villain like in a comic book movie, though.  Maybe that’s what those young men at my screening were complaining about.  That and the rolling boulder of doom.
The first half of the film was really good, but there were some logical misses in the plot of the second half.  Rakul not telling Mahesh something crucial because she was in a snit with him was egregious.  Really?  You’re not going to help catch the murderer because you’re mad at your boyfriend?  And there were times Mahesh went alone into a situation when it would have been more realistic if he’d had back up.
There was one segment where he fooled a bunch of ladies who were watching a soap into helping him find a fugitive.  It went on for a long stretch and was pretty over the top, too.  But I do have to acknowledge to Mr. Murugadoss that I have never seen the like!
The CGI in a couple of crucial action scenes was not seamless, but I found the roller coaster fight scene incredible anyway.  Just the concept of it alone!  We get a snippet in the trailer but it was really something to see.  The ending has a building collapsing as Mahesh tries to save people.  That was another part that felt like this was a disaster movie rather than a grounded thriller.  But, still, the film didn’t end with the cliched fight sequence in an abandoned factory.
Mahesh has a preachy speech at the end about humanity and helping others without expecting rewards.  A bit long, and kind of a weird note to end the film on.
There’s also some plot holes as to how Mahesh is just going rogue in his job.  He doesn’t follow privacy rules AT ALL and gets all his buddies to just give him info for his solo investigation.  He’s working around the police and just ignoring their efforts.  He also kills one guy in front of a huge crowd, and seemingly has no repercussions at work or otherwise  It was definitely a take the law into your own hands kind of movie.  I was disturbed at that cold killing scene.  Mahesh’s character just has his own morality compass.  He’s the hero, so he’s always right.  Definitely not an examination of two sides like Vikram Vedha.
The background score by Harris Jayaraj was incredible.  It kept the tension taught throughout the film.  I have an issue with thrillers that don’t have good enough music to set the mood (Ahem, Malayalam thrillers….),  This score was a standout.
For the most part, AR Murugadoss has given us an exciting thriller with a great villain.  Mahesh just looks so cool in all the action scenes.  He has a couple of great fight segments.  Even the Boom Boom dance number sort of had fight choreography.  I liked Mahesh and Rakul’s chemistry in the songs and their sweet romance, although that isn’t the thrust of the film.  It’s mainly there as some nice comic relief from the darkness in the rest of the film.
Mahesh reacts emotionally to the death of the young girl and police officer in the first part of the film, but other than that does not show the range of emotion that he has in other films.  It wasn’t there in the script for him to do.  The film did have more of a story than a strictly action film like Vivegam, but didn’t pack the emotional punch I usually like in Telugu films.  Still, I left satisfied that I’d had a good rollercoaster ride of my own.
Another unique aspect to the film is that it was filmed in Telugu AND Tamil.  Mahesh is fluent in both languages, so they filmed each scene twice!  I attended the Telugu version (with subtitles, of course.)

Mimi Chakraborty Support Bollywood and Challenged NCB in Sushant Singh Rajput drug case
Bollywood understands that only women take drugs, men wash basil leaves! Mimi Chakraborty sneered at the tweet
Bollywood is booming with drug addiction. In the wake of Sushant Singh's death, the Narcotics Control Bureau has started dealing with drugs. The video of the drug party in Bollywood has gone viral on social media. Where not only actresses, but also actors have been seen. But NCB is selectively calling the actresses. MP-actress Mimi did not like this issue. He posted the tweet to NCB.
Mimi tweeted, '- Patriarchal Bollywood women take various illicit drugs, including hash. And the men are very transparent, they cook at home and clean the house. There is nothing wrong with them. They just shed tears for their wives, folded their hands and prayed that God would save them. 'It is clear that this tweet of 8 mm is quite ironic. According to the actress, not only women but also men use drugs in Bollywood.
Tumblr media
Incidentally, Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor, Rakul Preet and others have been named in the NCB investigation. Deepika and Rakul will face NCB on Friday. Sara and Shraddha are scheduled to arrive at the NCB office on Saturday.

Rakul Preet says she believes in giving back to the society - Times of India
Amid the lockdown due to the coronavirus crisis, actress Rakul Preet Singh is helping over 200 families living in a slum close to her home in Gurugram. She says that it is a “small effort” to express her gratitude.
The actress along with her parents, Kulwinder Singh and Rajender, is sending packets of home-cooked food to them.
“My dad figured this entire slum where people are completely out of their basics. We are facilitating two meals a day for all those people and we have decided to do it till the time the lockdown is in place,a Rakul said. “If the lockdown gets pushed further, I will keep doing that. For now, I have committed till the month of April and then we will see depending on the situation. The food would be cooked at a place in my society and will be sent out to those people,” she added.
The actress said that everyone should be doing their bit especially during this time.
“It is very important to understand that many of us are privileged. We have a house, help, food, ability to stack up in case of emergency but this is when you give it to the society. For me, nothing can give me more happiness than the smiles on these people’s faces when they will eat their meal. And that will make me extremely happy,” she said, adding: “So that’s my way of expressing my gratitude for everything I have and it is a very small effort. Whoever can make a difference should, because I truly believe in giving back to society.”

Mrunal Thakur has had a great year in 2019. Both her releases, Vikas Bahl’s Super 30 opposite Hrithik Roshan and Nikkhil Advani’s Batla House opposite John Abraham were acclaimed hits. She has also acted in this year's in Karan Johar's anthology Ghost Stories on a digital platform and will be seen next in Jersey opposite Shahid Kapoor and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Toofan opposite Farhan Akhtar. Now, we have heard that the talented actress is in advanced talks to play the female lead in Ranjit Tiwari’s detective thriller Bell Bottom, opposite Akshay Kumar. If all goes well, this will mean a fresh pairing.
Says a trade source, “Nikkhil was keen to sign Mrunal as he’s worked with her in Batla House (where she plays John’s wife and a news anchor) and feels that she is very talented. Bell Bottom is said to be a spy thriller revolving around a cop-cum-detective’s stories. He is a cop in the day but likes to be a sleuth when off duty. If everything goes well and Mrunal signs Bell Bottom, she will play Akshay’s romantic interest. Her role is interesting and has shades to it – someone whom Akshay’s character meets in the course of his life as a cop and falls in love with her. It’s a retro movie set in the 1980s, and the thriller revolving around one of India’s forgotten heroes. It will be a mix of all Akshay, Vashu and Nikkhil’s style of filmmaking – action, emotion and entertainment and is said to be inspired from a real-life incident.”
Bollywood Hungama was the first to write about Akshay Kumar being in talks with producer Vashu Bhagnani, to discuss a project with him. The producer, who has given many blockbusters over more than two decades in the Bollywood film industry, is working with Akshay for the first time and buzz is that he has given Akshay a huge remuneration of over Rs. 120 crore to act in the movie.  Bell Bottom is produced by Nikkhil Advani, Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, and Akshay Kumar. Akshay is said to have been paid a whopping amount for the role.
Akshay and Vashu have been in talks for quite some time to do a movie together while Nikkhil was looking for a good script for Akshay, post Airlift. Nikkhil, Akshay and Vashu coming together in one movie means the merging of three super brands - Nikkhil is also on a career high with his movies like Satyameva Jayate and Batla House doing excellent business at the box-office and his next Marjaavaan (starring Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria and directed by Milap Zaveri) is carrying very good reports. Nikkhil is also doing a movie with Arjun Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh. He is also helming a web series called Bombay Diaries.
Akshay and Nikkhil come together after three years. Their last movie was Airlift (2016), directed by Raja Krishna Menon. The star is on a roll with his last releases including Kesari, Mission Mangal, Housefull 4 and Good Newwz being super hits. A large portion of Bell Bottom will be shot in London and is planned as a big budget extravaganza shot in other international locales too.
