I don’t really do end of year posts anymore, because I don’t really see the point in celebrating the new year. But back in 2010, when I was still slummin’ it on LJ, I answered some fandom questions about the year that was. Apparently I cross-posted it to my facebook because it popped up in my memories this morning and I thought, ‘I could do that for 2017.’ So here I am.

What fandoms/ships did you discover in 2017? Yuri On Ice; Tomlinshaw, which led me to One Direction; Drarry; Hartwin/Kingsman. What fandoms did you let go of in 2017? Yuri On Ice (yeah, this was a flash in the pan fandom; it burned hot and fast); I continued my slide away from Glee, though Klaine still hold a special place in my heart. What fandoms did you mean to get into but didn’t in 2017? Why? None because I never set out to get into anything, it just happens accidentally. What fandoms do you intend on checking out in 2018? None for the same reason. What show impressed you least in 2017? I didn’t watch many TV shows this year. I tried Gilmore Girls for the first time because my bff loves it. I hated it. Oh! And I used to watch HTGAWM religiously but I haven’t watched it in so long. I stand by that this should have been a one-season show but they made more and it couldn’t sustain itself. Which is a shame because Viola Davis is truly a gift to the world. What fandoms do you think you might let go of in 2018 unless things significantly improve? I can’t really foresee letting go of any fandom because things go wrong. I think my interest will just gradually lessen so I’m not neck-deep in it every day. Certainly with Hartwin/Kingsman, even though I know I’ll still love that fandom. That is the natural cycle of fandom. What fandoms do you think you’ll never let go of no matter how crappy they get? Why? In 2010, I said: The Vampire Diaries, NCIS and Merlin. I’ll tell you now, I haven’t thought of those fandoms in literally years. Having said that, I’ll always be a part of the phandom, because I’ll always love Dan and Phil, even if the fandom tears itself to shreds and implodes…which it might.
