For a Yule/Christmas gift, my mom got me a deck of oracle cards. Oracle cards can be used for many divination practices--personally, I'm fond of the "Pull a card for the theme of the day/week" method--and each deck can be made around a certain culture, spiritual path, story cycle, etc. The one I asked for and received was "The Wisdom of Avalon" deck by Colette Baron-Reid. Ever since my high school English class (11th grade, I think) that gave me an in-depth introduction to the Arthurian legends, I've always felt particularly drawn to Avalon, the mysterious, mist-shrouded island famous for its fine apple orchards and its druids and priestesses who teach the ancient wisdom of the earth. Avalon is also associated with many tales involving King Arthur and is said to be where he now lies sleeping, waiting to return to Britain when it truly needs him again. For today's card, I drew one from the Animal Guides of Avalon suit and got the Bee. The bee, according to the card, symbolizes luck, industriousness, and sweet victory. He also is connected to a drive to contribute to the common good, since every bee knows that if one fails, the hive fails. There's beauty everywhere. I'm reminded of this today. Sometimes life can be challenging, when you're a single mom. There's never enough $$ to go around, never enough time for it all. Between college classes and a demanding day job, my kids and my art it just often doesn't seem like there's enough of me. I make it through by walking about two miles a day, eating well, and daily meditation. The gods walk with us. So true. Often we get so involved and sucked into the drama of giving without receiving, or trying to be something we truly at our core, are not. When we do this, things will not work out. It is only when we stand in our truth and our true identity which is in #kundaliniyoga called "sat nam" that we become. We evolve. Doors open. Step into your truth today and allow yourself to evolve.
