Here’s What’s Happening in Tucson This Weekend!
Fri 12/1 - Sun 12/3
Happy Friday Everyone!
Tumblr media
Little Ralphie Parker’s Christmas wish of receiving a BB gun from Santa makes for some family fun starting tonight at Berger Performing Arts Center when A Christmas Story The Musical opens.  All those scenes you remember so fondly are still enjoyable especially the Leg Lamp, the Orphan Annie Secret Society decoder ring, and Flick getting his tongue stuck on the flagpole.

Now that it’s getting dark out so early brighten things up starting tonight at Tohono Chul’s Holiday Lights where they promise you’ll see 1 million lights!  Not to be outdone, Tucson Botanical Gardens begins it’s Luminaria Nights tonight. The UofA’s Flandrau Planetarium is showing its Season of Lights spectacular now through January! And tomorrow and Sunday catch the Holiday Festival of the Arts and Oro Valley Tree Lighting.  (Do you think TEP is smiling a lot more during the holiday season?)  Mix a little snow in with your holiday lights by visiting La Encantada Friday and Saturday nights for their Enchanted Snowfall.

Shopping areas will be very busy with the first full weekend of holiday shopping upon us.  If you’re near downtown, check out The Miracle on Congress Street which will have Santa, photo ops for boys and  girls, cookies and more.  This week’s participating sponsor will be the Humane Society of Southern Arizona who will have adoptable puppies on Saturday and Sunday.  Another option is the Lost Barrio District Holiday Shopping Event tomorrow from 5pm – 9pm. Shopping, music and refreshments in 3 blocks of shops and galleries that specialize in unique gifts.  Stop into Petroglyphs and seek out our friend David, the guest bartender tomorrow.  If you enjoy wine, drinking it and talking about it, you’ll really enjoy David!

Are you still trying to work off that Thanksgiving feast?  Then have yourself a little walk or run tomorrow and help the Arthritis Foundation reach it’s goal during the Jingle Bell Run.  Prefer something a little zanier?  Then walk, run, or dance your way to fitness during the Color Vibe 5k at TCC tomorrow.  You can reach the unreachable star tomorrow night at the Arizona Theatre Company’s Man of La Mancha, now running throughout December.
No matter what your plans are, enjoy the weekend and good luck with that shopping list.  If you happen to be near La Encantada this Sunday between noon and 3pm, stop by our Open House at 6280 N Campbell and say hi.  As always, please let us know if we can be of help to you or someone you know.
