Hey folks!! It’s been a while since ive done any wh content ikik, living its being a nightmare recently! So things have been going slow for the past weeks. Don’t worry tho!! I will absolutely finish the eddie promptlist,, whenever my brain starts working again <3
I think its the perfect moment to show yall some of my wh ocs!! My brain has been full of thoughts abt them recently!
So there we go!
Ricardo Ramos!
Tumblr media
(info below!)
Ricardo Ramos is a very glamorous, over the top musician! He’s an all-in-one kinda guy; he can play music, dance and sing! His design is notoriously inspired by Tango culture, he plays the Bandoneón (Not an accordion. Never call it accordion. He will get offended and he will Not shut up about it) (…but yeah its a fancier looking accordion). He had a special segment in the series where he would teach You and the neighbors about the various rythmes and music genres around the world! When he wasnt doing that though, he was just vibing in Home along with the neighbors.
He’s also argentinian! Although he has'nt got back there in a while. He travels around the globe spreading music and being all charming and whatnot! Very busy! He misses his home a lot tho, so if you happen to name Argentina even once he Won’t shut up. That’s another thing! He wont shut up period. He loves talking and telling wacky stories about his trips (half of them are usually lies!). He constantly talks about how he used to study alongside the best known tango musicians on earth, and how he personally met every single one of them. He is, of course, lying. He didn’t even study music! Everything he knows is self-taught babey!!!
Of course Ricardo would have never visited Home willingly. Hes more of a city guy anyways. He drove into the woods while getting a shortcut to get to another city, his car crashed, he carried his RV to the nearest town (Which was Home) to seek out for help, however absolutely nobody there had any car! It was like cars never existed. How weird! And when he tried to get back into the woods to get his car back, he realized he had no idea where it was! Almost as if it dissappeard. How weird! And this odd town is on the middle of nowhere! Hes completely lost, not knowing how to get out, even if he tries his hardest! Almost as if it was impossible! How! Weird!!! But the neighbors are cool and the town is pretty so. Oh well <3
These are some sketches/silly drawings i drew when i first made him! And also his RV, which is inspired by el barrio de La Boca in Buenos Aires, which is his hometown <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh! He also had a fiancé! They couldnt keep up together tho, things happened <\3
(Tw horror, stitches)

I have a passing knowledge of Jaime Reyes' Blue Beetle from the character's appearance on SMALLVILLE, BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD and these panels.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Milagro, you are so real for this.
Tumblr media
And this is where my true knowledge about Blue Beetle comes from - Ted Kord's Blue Beetle and his friendship with Booster Gold.
Blue & Gold Forever.
Tumblr media
So with only knowing the bare minimum about Jaime I was able to watch BLUE BEETLE with no expectations. It's an incredibly vibrant, fun and heartfelt film. I'm concerned at its low box-office showing, but films with bigger leads and bigger budgets have also failed at the box office, or at the very least, didn't recoup it's budget and marketing. There has never been anything that was a guaranteed box office success. I would rather it tried to get eyes in theaters than get lost on HBO Max where it was originally slated for release. Here's hoping National Cinema Day on Aug 27th (where theaters are selling tickets for $4 for all formats) will bring more people to the tent.
Too true.
Tumblr media
My thoughts on BLUE BEETLE
Tumblr media
Nothing but SPOILERS.
Tumblr media
THE GOOD
Xolo Maridueña (COBRA KAI) is a great Jaime. If you have seen Maridueña across these five seasons of COBRA KAI, it's not surprising. He has shown consistently that he can play humour, dutifulness, vulnerable and excel at action.
Big up to COBRA KAI's annual blow-out fight sequence.
youtube
Oddly enough, at the end of the film I didn't think we got to know Jaime beyond a cursory level, but I'm sure if they did a deep dive on him I would complain about that too as my issue with origin story films is that so much real estate is given to building up the history of the character, that the plot and action seems relegated to the final act. But I guess BLUE BEETLE gave us all we need to know about Jaime.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Good egg, duty bound, gets hard from hugs (and kudos to this film for actually having a character who gets horny. Comic book films are nearly always a sexless thing, but my guy Jaime pulling his shirt down to cover his crotch after Jenny's (Bruna Marquezine) tale of woe was refreshing.)
-Really liked Jenny Kord. She wasn't the typical damsel in distress. She's formidable in her own right. She and Jaime doesn't feel rushed or shoehorned in. I especially loved the fact that they didn't just make her the love interest,
Though she and Xolo are great together,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but also gave her - in the Reyes - a new family. If she and Jaime were to go pear-shaped we can just know that Jenny still has a place within the Reyes clan.
-We have not one, but two new members to the Legion of Great DCEU Family Members. Joining the mom and dad of SHAZAM, AQUAMAN's dad, THE FLASH's mom is BLUE BEETLE's Alberto Reyes (Damián Alcázar) and Nana Reyes (the Oscar nominated Adriana Barraza).
Still waters run deep and Nana proved that. She's not just up in her room sewing and watching reruns of "María la del Barrio". She is sitting back waiting to showcase her experiene while fighting in the revolution.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Alberto Reyes! He was this film's King T'Chaka. Always with a wise word, strong, caring. I hate that he had to die and I think it's a worn out trope that a hero has to suffer loss in order to come into their greatness, but it worked. Long Live Alberto Reyes!
Tumblr media
Just enough George Lopez to not be annoying. He's funny, but only in small doses IMO so he was just good enough and used well enough that it wasn't eye-rolling. I really loved that he wasn't just there for the obvious comic relief, instead Uncle Rudy is a brain.
The opening along had me hyped. It set the tone and it lent to idea of the scarab being from space, but the inclusion of a classic Blue Beetle comic sketch just ::chef's kiss:
-Director Ángel Manuel Soto listed which stories he pulled from for this film,
Tumblr media
but I see a lot of BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD episode "Fall of the Blue Beetle" in the bits where they go to Ted Kord's home/lab.
-The way they took OMAC/Kevin Kho backstory and merged it with Carapex's. In the comics OMAC was a Cambodian child of war, in this film Ignacio/Carapex was left an orphan and trained by the School of the Americas (rebranded Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation) whose training manuals advocated tortuing and blackmailing civilians. Using Kord Industries as not just a amorphous shady big tech corp, BLUE BEETLE's writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer and Soto tied Kord Industries to the realties of what big corporations are doing globally.
This ties into another thing I loved about the film - it had a strong cultural identity. From Nana using Vivaporú (Vicks Vapor Rub) as smelling salts to rouse Jamie, to El Chapulín Colorado(!!!).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The idea of gentrification that affects people across colour lines and specifically targets people of lower income.
The full integration of Jaime and Khaji-Da being exemplified by Khaji-Da (voiced by singer/actor Becky G) speaking Spanish.
THE BAD
-Is there someone with less screen prescence than Susan Sarandon? I don't know how she was ever a thing. I guess they needed a "name" but there several other actors like Anjelica Huston or Sigourney Weaver who would have done something more with that role. Carla Gugino. Anyone else!
-The establishing CGI of Kord Entrerprises was basura. There was a tangible change in F/X as if mid way through post-production they found out WB-Discovery was moving it to theatrical release and they effects crew got a cash infusion.
-While I came around on the character towards the end, I wasn't a fan of Milagro. Glad they aged her up but she fell into the trope of annoying movie sibling and it grated.
Tumblr media
THE REST
-Harvey Guillen's character died in the film (good!) and he appears to be dead again on HARLEY QUINN (not good. There is no way Nightwing's death sticks).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Soto and James Gunn says that Jaime has a future in the DCU. While an interview snippet is making the rounds where Soto says he would like Jason Sudeikis (TED LASSO) to play Ted Kord, I don't really believe that is true as the source is from an online site I'm not familiar with and people lie for clicks.
Yes, Buster. All. The. Time.
Tumblr media
-While comics! Jaime lives in El Paso, Texas, film! Jaime lives in Palmera City - on El Paso St. - which was created for the film (and appeared in the comics months ahead in a tie-in). Soto found inspiration in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico. But I wonder what Palmera City's real-world city will be when James Gunn finishes the DC Map that he say is being redone. Maybe because over the years Metropolis has been Chicago/Delaware/New York.
Metropolis is not in Delaware, GTFOH.

LEÓN, Spain (JTA) — It’s the week before Easter in León, an ancient city in northwest Spain, and locals have poured into the streets to knock back glasses of wine-lemonade, an annual festivity that’s sometimes punctuated with a cheerful cry: “Matar judíos,” or “Kill Jews.”
“Semana Santa,” or Holy Week, is the most important religious period in Spain. León’s celebrations are particularly spectacular, marked by 10 days of music, sermons and about 30 processions, featuring some 16,000 penitents. It’s also a high season for visitors — in 2002, the city’s Holy Week was declared a “Festival of International Interest for Tourists.”
One fixture of these frenzied days is a Leonese cocktail made from red wine, lemons, cinnamon and sugar, sometimes with oranges and figs. Here it is called “limonada,” and virtually every bar in Barrio Húmedo, the city’s nightlife-packed medieval quarter, is plastered with signs advertising their version. It’s local tradition to drink 33 limonadas during Holy Week, representing the age of Jesus when he was crucified.
It’s also a centuries-old tradition for revelers seeking limonadas to say they are going out to “kill Jews.”
“It’s an expression here,” Margarita Torres Sevilla, a professor of medieval history at the University of León, told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. “For example, you tell me, ‘Have a drink with me? Okay, let’s go kill Jews.’ Another typical sentence of Holy Week is, ‘How many Jews have you killed? Three, four, five [limonadas]? Oh, you have killed a lot.’”
In León, a city of about 124,000 that has no visible Jewish community, locals told JTA the phrase is not seen as vulgar or antisemitic. Some bars celebrate it as a point of pride in the city’s heritage, using the phrase as a hashtag when advertising their seasonal specials on social media.
“With the arrival of Holy Week also comes the season of Leonese limonada, a tradition that is popularly known as ‘killing Jews,’” said a Spanish-language Facebook post from Bar Genarín on March 10. “We offer you two varieties, the classic and a white.”
“It’s strange to foreigners, but they take it with a laugh,” said Sonia Da Costa, a server rushing plates and glasses to the swell of customers at Cafetería Chamberí, a local tapas bar. “Here it’s normal.”
The historic Jewish quarter of León, which has not seen a Jewish population in hundreds of years, comprises two streets embedded in the very Barrio Húmedo overflowing with limonadas today. Few traces indicate where the community lived; its three medieval synagogues were lost, the final one commemorated by a small plaque recently installed on Misericordia Street: “The third Jewish synagogue of León was built here (1370-1481).” On a side street branching off León’s central square, one stone doorway bears two vertical markings, which Torres Sevilla believes were left by a mezuzah.
Jews settled in the area starting in the 10th century. León produced Moses de León, a famed Jewish mystic, and became a center of Jewish religious thought. Jews lived in relative equality to León’s Christians, interrupted by sporadic spurts of violence, until 1293, when King Sancho IV banned them from owning farmland. Two decades later Jews were forced to wear a yellow badge, and starting in 1365 they had to pay a special tax, similar to one borne by Muslims.
The expression of “killing Jews” on Holy Week goes back to an episode in the 15th century, according to Torres Sevilla. León was economically devastated by war and the Black Death, leaving many Christian noblemen in debt. One such knight, Suero de Quiñones, owed payments to a Jewish merchant. To avoid paying his debt, Quiñones whipped up a religious fervor against León’s Jews on Holy Week in 1449. He organized a group of knights to attack the Jewish quarter, murdering the lender and several others on Good Friday.
“Quiñones said on Holy Week, our Lord was accused by the Jews and the Jews killed him,” said Torres Sevilla. “So what do we do with the Jews? Kill them. But the real reason was not a Christian motive — the real reason was that he had an important debt to an important merchant of the Jewish community.”
To celebrate their supposed vengeance for the death of Jesus, Quiñones and his allies went to drink wine in Barrio Húmedo. Thus commenced the ritual of downing limonadas to the refrain of “killing Jews,” said Torres Sevilla.
Other stories say the phrase emerged from the taming powers of limonada, authorized by medieval leaders in the midst of Holy Week’s abstinence and fasting to stop Christians from committing pogroms against Jews — by keeping them occupied in the taverns.
(The Leonese tradition of “Matar judíos” does not appear to be connected to the Spanish town about 150 kilometers east that was called Castrillo Matajudíos — or Fort Kill the Jews — from 1627, during a period of antisemitic persecution, until a few years ago.)
The region’s Jewish community did not last long after Quiñones’s attack. Jews were expelled from León in 1481, and 11 years later, under the Alhambra Decree of King Ferdinand II and Queen Isabella I, from all of Spain. Some historians have also linked limonada’s association with “killing Jews” to a quote attributed to Ferdinand, upon signing the expulsion decree in 1492: “Limonada que trasiego, judío que pulverizo” (“Limonada that I decant, Jew that I pulverize”).
Today, residents say the phrase is a social custom devoid of any connection to murder, religion or real-life Jews.
“People are used to it here, it’s an expression that is not racist at all,” said José Manuel, who works at Vychio Cafe Bar. “It’s an expression from a time period of racism but now, no, it’s an expression out of custom.”
Torres Sevilla said that a Jewish past lies dormant in León, even inside locals who may not know their own history. While tens of thousands of Jews fled Spain as a result of the Alhambra Decree, thousands of others stayed and converted. Torres Sevilla believes she is among the Spaniards descended from “conversos,” who preserved some distinct traditions despite becoming Christian. “Sevilla” is a historically Jewish surname. Her family goes to church on Saturday — not Sunday — and begins prayers on Friday, which starts the Jewish Shabbat. She grew up with a ritual, also found in other “converso” families, of cleaning the home and having clean clothes ready before Saturday.
Many Leonese Jews stayed and converted after 1492, she said, but their descendants may have no idea — and may even be among those calling to “kill Jews” with their limonadas on Holy Week.
“Everybody knows about ‘kill Jews,’ but nobody knows about the Jewish history of León,” said Torres Sevilla.

The more I learn about all the harassing the Netherlands players did to ours the more annoyed I get. Commentarists go and fill their mouth about how European football is so superior and elegant, and everybody is like "omg Argentines are so arrogant so dirty players", while the Dutch were insulting, pushing, kicking, and at one point tried to invade the pitch and fight with our players. After that penalty for us (well deserved, by the way), they went insane like if this was a barrio match and not the fucking World Cup.
And you know what's the funniest part! They still played like shit! I almost went insane when a commenter here said "though rivals" I was more worried with Australia or Mexico! Argentina played better all the time and it's true. The only reason they were able to equal us is because of the waterfall of free kicks they were getting, sooner or later SOMETHING was bound to enter.
And after all that, all the insults and dirty playing, they still lost. And they still picked up fights. Messi called them "dummies", and he was, like always, too nice.
If they were so mad, play better next time.

HELENA ALMEIDA & REBECCA SOLNIT
Tumblr media

Modern Star Trek has made meaningful advances in the area, with the inclusion of Paul Stamets (Anthony Rapp) and Hugh Culber (Wilson Cruz) and the introduction of characters like Adira Tal (Blu del Barrio) on Star Trek: Discovery. However, nostalgia for 1990s Star Trek can have frustrating results. The third season of Star Trek: Picard, essentially a nostalgic revival of The Next Generation, marginalized its preexisting queer characters and scrapped its central transgender metaphors. However, modern Star Trek also — like a lot of modern fan service- and nostalgia-driven media — struggles to engage meaningfully with its relationship to a complicated history. Modern Star Trek shows tend to treat Rick Berman’s Star Trek shows as a lost and idealized past when everything was perfect. This is perhaps most obvious in the way that these shows fetishize Starfleet, an institution of which The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine were frequently and justifiably critical. That’s why “we are Starfleet” has become something of a mantra for these shows, a way of treating Starfleet as a stand-in for the franchise and its values. However, treating Starfleet as a stand-in for the larger Star Trek franchise, particularly in the context of this 1990s nostalgia, means wrestling with that complicated history in a meaningful way. It is something that Deep Space Nine did regularly but that most of these modern Star Trek shows have been unable to do. “Ad Astra Per Aspera” is an episode the franchise should have made decades ago. This is what makes “Ad Astra Per Aspera” so bracing. It’s an episode that puts the era of the show that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is so nostalgic for on trial. It’s notable that the first witness is Captain Robert April (Adrian Holmes), not only the first canonical commander of the Enterprise but also one explicitly modeled on Gene Roddenberry. Una protests to her lawyer, Neera Ketoul (“Ketoul” spelling TBA, Yetide Badaki), “What was that? You’re supposed to defend me, not attack Admiral April, not indict the Federation.”

The boy who went madly in love, by Enrique Barrios (1915)
Prologue: Have you ever heard a bird singing at night? Sometimes a sliver of golden moonlight spills between the mysterious foliage, reaches the branch where the little bird is nestled, and wakes her up. The bird may think is the dawn, but it's not. And still, she sings. Then, if the little bird is poised and strong, once she discovers that it was all a trick, she will bury her beak between her feathers and fall asleep once more.  However, there are a lot of different birds. Restless and fragile, to whom the sliver of moonlight had put under a spell. Who after singing, stunned, they jump and try to fly. But as the sun has not risen yet, they become lost in the darkness, or they drown in the lake illuminated by a pale golden sliver of light, or they get their chests embedded with the thorns of a rose bush which could have heard their bests songs and ignite their most delirious joys in the morning. What is the poisonous beam of light that awake some souls in the night, robs them of dawn and drowns them in an existence of darkness? I am about to reveal you the secret of a boy who went madly in love. Outside of myself, no one —not even his mother, turned into his slave— ever possessed the truth behind the madness of this child. I would not reveal yet how this painful and naïve notebook fell into my hands. I can only tell you that I am publishing this because it cannot hurt anyone anymore. I respected for years the secret of that child. Of that little bird who sang in the night and lost his dawn. Fate brought this notebook to me, and I have kept it dutifully. With the respect a saddened and sentimental child deserves. A victim of the poisonous beam that sheds a light into hearts before their time and throws them into that blazing and dark vortex; sweet and terrible, called love.

Hello
I know I'm barely here anymore
But unfortunately the Ritalin shortage in Summer caused me to become hyperfixation on Overwatch, Gabriel Reyes/Reaper in particular (AGAIN), against my very will.
But I'm here to make it everyone else's problem again and have been challenged by @wildissylupus to post my Martina Reyes HCs (or basically character summary at this point)!!!
So
Here
We
GOOOOOO
(Please note I am Filipina, not Mexican or Latine at all, I'm trying my best to research, but please correct me if I'm wrong)
- 1st of all, for me it is Dr. Martina Nuñez-Reyes, women in STEM, iconic
- Born and raised in San Diego, in particular in or by Barrio Logan!
- She is specifically Nahua Mexican with family in Guerrero, Mexico. She has learned a lot of Precolonial History and mythology, both in school and from her family. She also speaks Nahuatl fluently, as well as Spanish and ASL.
- Sweet, nurturing, professional, good tempered, graceful, makes lots of bad puns (she and Winston got along great), but occasionally slips in some "joking" sadism and morbid curiosity.
- Loves perfume even though she can't wear it often due to her work in laboratories and hospitals, will wear even just a little bit even at home to enjoy it.
- joined a ballet folklorico troupe up until High School, but still remembers the moves well. Specializes in Guerrero style folklorico!
- Excellent cook, amazing baker. Loves to adapt recipes to include lots of spices. (This will come back later)
- Interested in the medical field, specifically medicine itself, after learning about how advanced Mesoamerican civilizations were medically.
- Martina was a regular prodigy, attending an advanced secondary school academy in Mexico City, before continuing on to get PhDs in Medicine, Chemistry, and Pharmaceutical Science by age 24.
- By age 26 she had already made strides by synthesizing and creating medicine that was able to do things like naturally accelerate healing in the body.
- That's also when the Omnic Crisis began. She was inducted by the United States Military among swathes of other skilled doctors to create the Super Soldier Serum for the Soldier Enhancement Program (SEP) at a hidden facility.
- Six months, they managed to get it to an acceptable loss rate of 25%, and test it on 100 Soldiers. She was in charge of overseeing the injections of 20 of the 100 randomly assigned under her, which included Soldier 24, Gabriel Reyes, and Soldier 76, Jack Morrison. It was also done in doses, not all at once.
- She and Gabriel were attracted to each other but didn't act on it for quite a bit, due to the taboo nature of a doctor and a patient. They didn't flirt either, but had moments of "Oh fuck they're hot" before shaking it off.
- After the second round of doses, she lost her first soldier, which made the risk of SEP all the more apparent to her.
- Remember when I mentioned she's good at baking? She stress bakes because it helps make a zen sort of ritual of following steps/regaining a small sense of control. The reason Gabriel loves cookies? It's because he woke up at 2AM catching her stress baking a batch of Chili Chocolate Chip Cookies. It's where they had a heart to heart about Gabriel and the other Enhanced Soldiers trusting Martina and the doctors no matter the risk because they know they're liable to die in the Crisis anyway if they can't make headway.
- As the Crisis gets more dire, the General orders the doctors at the SEP facility to also go through basic military training, which Martina disliked, so she never really went past a machine pistol.
- 33 Soldiers make it out, and she sent with them on missions to retake cities across America. She wouldn't always be an active combatant, but she could hold her own if she had to.
- When Gabriel Reyes and Jack Morrison were selected to the elite Overwatch core team, she helped lead their medical support team. Also yes during this whole time, Gabriel and Martina still were attracted to each other but still sort of afraid to act because not only is she still his Doctor, he's now her commanding officer.
- Also during this period she helps treat a young Angela Ziegler during the bombing of Zurich.
- After fighting alongside Inti Warriors (Specifically Illari's dad) to help retake part of Central and South America, Gabriel almost died, which caused her to go full BAMF, and save him.
(Jack: "... can someone please tell me why our medic is rushing in alone, guns blazing?")
- They have to repair ships and stuff, so they decide to take R&R in reclaimed Guerrero, where Martina shows Gabriel around, and they end up dancing together. It's where they finally give in and end up in a relationship.
- Get married the last year of the Omnic Crisis, and have a son a few years later named Izel (who is the grown man with a family in my heart and soul in the Reflections Comic)
- Dr. Martina Nuñez-Reyes is the first Head of Medicine in Overwatch's Golden Age because goddamnit someone had to have that position before Angela.
- She's also Angela's mentor and sort of like an adoptive mom, Angela absolutely idolized her
Here's where my Canon deviates hard, because Blizzard's timeline makes no sense
(Fun fact this next part exists because I misread Code of Violence and thought that the ash and burning was from Gabriel's memories of Echo Park and not where he was so I straight up thought Martina was fridged a whole ass year before I heard the voicelines and reread it for clarity, but she's not fridged. Just stay with me.)
- On Izel's 6th birthday in Echo Park, there was an attempted assassination via explosions that caused Izel to lose his left arm and replace it with a prosthetic (the man in the Reflections comic has his left arm in his pocket)
- It also very nearly kills Martina, who is 6 MONTHS PREGNANT WITH THEIR DAUGHTER, Graciela
- The family lives, and Graciela has to be c-section delivered prematurely
- This ofc enrages Martina and Gabriel who, after recovery, hunt the motherfucker down to kill.
- It is not a quick death. Martina synthesizes POISON to make that fucker die screaming. (Basically I wanted to flip the Dead Wife trope where the wife lives and is FUCKING PISSED AND JOINS HER HUSBAND ON A ROARING RAMPAGE OF REVENGE)
- Oh yeah and that triggers the birth of Blackwatch lmao.
- Gabriel brought Cole Cassidy home for Christmas where she immediately enfolds Cole into the family.
- Martina and Gabriel also help Cole get his GED.
- Oh yeah Blackwatch
- So Martina supplies the poisons for coercion, torture, and assassination (and torture) to Blackwatch under the table for super covert missions, basically even people at Blackwatch didn't even know about. Ma'am was committing war crimes to keep the world and her babies safe. All while keeping up the sweet, dedicated, professional facade for like 14 years.
- Gabriel tries to get her to make another super soldier serum so he can be stronger, she refuses, they argue, him calling her a hypocrite, and it looks bad, UNTIL
- Shit happens and she accidentally lets a poison slip that gets reverse engineered and kills a lot of people, causing her to retire and Mercy steps up. Gabriel keeps her secret and they end up staying together
- HOWEVER, once the Venice Incident happens and Izel disowns his father, she chooses to not back up Gabriel's choices, whereas their daughter Graciela does, causing them to be separated but still married.
- Gabriel considers leaking her secret, but loves her too much to/wants the kids to have at least one parent they don't detest
- After the Swiss Explosion, Martina and Graciela mourn very badly, Izel rekindled his relationship with his mother but not Graciela
(Izel needs his own post probably lmao)
- Martina tries to move on, but finds she can't.
- listen once a man is willing to cover up war crimes for you, it's a very hard standard to meet
- She rejects the recall initially but to avoid this post from being even longer REASONS, Graciela goes with/gets kidnapped by (it's complicated) Talon, which is how Cole finds out Gabriel is Reaper
- Joins in to get her daughter back, and to redeem herself because she realizes how much destruction she caused even if people deserved it... lowkey she even doesn't fully regret it depending on the person she killed
- Her abilities are she got a CPR glove that can shock people in one hand that can pull Medicated/poison grenades out of a storage and a Pistol in the other and she can inject peeps with medication close quarters.
- She's like 63 currently also (in my Canon, Gabriel got a significant age bump with a bunch of other characters, he is 67 but is technically frozen at age 58)
- blizzard if you read this and wonder why I turned this nameless, possibly faceless character into someone that's committed war crimes, I don't got a fucking clue either
- wildissylupus I'm so sorry for subjecting you to this, like how I will subject my friends to a PowerPoint presentation about my character lore and alternate overwatch timeline on my birthday

puerto rico has been a bit bittersweet, if i'm honest. but first... louis in san juan! caribe louis!!!
Tumblr media
so cool to have been at el choli! iconic pr venue! it did feel very usamerican though, but still pretty cool. it's a big arena, but only two levels and like half the floor were open. the seats right in front of the stage, the stands, those were empty. i had a puerto rican girl sitting next to me and she was saying that she knew it wasn't gonna sell as much so she bought the ticket the same day. the thing is that, and that's something she said as well, puerto ricans in general are not big on non-latin music, and that's fair. the atmosphere was still so amazing (even if i felt like panamá had slightly better collective energy imo) and the show was incredible. people lost it at the 1D songs of course, which i noticed people around me only knew those ones, but hey, thanks for coming to see this boo. he's amazing, isn't he?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
anyway, nothing much else about the show that hasn't been said over the past few days. oh, the christian opener was even cringier than i thought, he literally introduced one of his songs about his faith and jesus and blah blah. and he got carried away with his set, and had to be told his set was over. lmao. i know how hard is to get up on a stage like that, but man, this was NOT the crowd for someone like him. when i told the puerto rican girl next to me who he was she was like "what? christian? but everyone here is gay". lol
i did record almost all of saturdays. i say almost because i was only recording lucía and once she went up i stopped. louis was emo and thankful as he always gets when he's so far away from home. we were close enough to see his face without needing to see screens which is always lovely. he had some cute interactions with fans. and... yeah. i love him. 💚
Tumblr media Tumblr media
got to thank my friends at the soundbooth again. tom for sure recognized us, and said "i hope you enjoyed the show" and i was like, "of course! you guys make it look so good!" or something along those lines. now they'll get a break from my annoying ass for a few shows, hajshha.
the bitter part. puerto rico is so expensive. :c we stayed at the cheapest place we could find and that's still gonna be the most expensive stay on this trip. and it was located in a local barrio, so at least the groceries you could get nearby were cheap but not much variety. at least uber wasn't too expensive, but... *shrug* it also rained on and off after sunday (ofc), so couldn't really enjoy the beach again. and we got soaking wet yesterday and some of our clothes are still wet, lol. but it was kind of a little bit fun, hehe, being in that caribbean rainstorm.
Tumblr media
had some yummy vegan eats (although expensive 😭) and passionfruit juice my most beloved foreverrr.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
we're now flying to dominican republic, for a vacation within our vacation, lol. hoping the weather treats us better.

Review: You should be watching Rational Creatures.
Persuasion has always been my favorite novel by Jane Austen. Sadly, there was no Persuasion in the wave of YouTube modern adaptations that started a decade ago with the Lizzie Bennet Diaries. Not only did adaptions of Emma (Approved) follow, there were two adaptations of Northanger Abbey (Northbound and The Cate Moreland Chronicles) and an attempt at the unfinished Sanditon, well before it became a PBS series. Mansfield Park became From Mansfield With Love, the very best adaption of Austen’s least popular novel. I kept thinking Persuasion would be next. But after a few years, the YouTube literary adaptation had lost its bloom.
Rational Creatures  debuted in 2019. Its slightly minimalist aesthetic beautifully captures the tight plotting and the melancholy tone of the original novel. The short episodes sometimes feature more meaningful glances underscored with music than actual dialogue. The series is shot as a film rather than a vlog. This makes it possible to more subtly suggest the inner lives of Ana Elías (a Latina Anne Elliott) and Fred Wentworth, who fell in love as teenagers but parted badly. She went to college, he became a famous travel blogger. Ana’s high school YouTube videos provide flashbacks of their relationship and feel appropriately old-fashioned.
The changes to adapt Persuasion to modern times are deftly handled, and the acting across the cast is uniformly compelling. The circle of friends that Fred returns to after many years of travel is queer and bisexual, and thus genders of characters have been changed. Louisa Musgrove is Louis, and Ana’s sister is married, but to a wife not a husband. Missing characters and other details from the novel show up in stray references, inside jokes for those familiar with the original source material. The writing for the remaining characters is perhaps kinder to them than Austen’s often biting satire, though without them losing their core features. Louis, in particular, has a notable new depth as does Ben (Captain Benwick). Fred is not simply a modern version of Austen’s conquering naval hero. He is someone who has traveled the world but finds himself strangely stuck and unhappy. It’s heartening that Ana is not the only one with lingering feelings from their ended relationship and a sense that her life is not going anywhere.
The first season of Rational Creatures had thousands of viewers. Although crowd funding subsidized season two, the pandemic hit, making production impossible. Three long years later, the series has resumed, like Anne and Captain Wentworth’s relationship, finally fulfilling its original promise. Yet sadly, while Netflix’s ridiculously terrible Persuasion generated international attention, a smaller number of viewers are enjoying seeing the YouTube rendition play out. I imagine that they, like the makers of Rational Creatures, are the best company: clever, well-informed people, who have a great deal of conversation. You should join them.
Creators of Rational Creatures: Ayelen Barrios Ruiz Pagano, Hazel Jeffs, Jessamyn Leigh, and Anya Steiner.
Above: Ben (Benjamin Mills) and Louis (Derek Quesada); Ana (Kristina Pupo) and Fred (Peter Giessl).

Change the future (Bruno x Fem!Reader)
Tumblr media
Part2
a/n: not gonna lie, this is more about R and Juli and R and Alma, but R is Bruno’s wife so...yeah. Enjoy!
Song used: Disculpeme suegrita by Paquita la del barrio
-----------------------------
"you can't leave"
You didn't even flinch or turn around, you knew perfectly well the look the other woman was giving you, but this time it wasn't going to work, you had made up your mind and nothing was going to stop you.
"Either you help me pack or don't get in the way" you said
"Y/N, I know you're upset, we all are, we all miss Bruno, but-"
"No" you interrupted her "don't you dare tell me this is not the way"
"You can't lose hope, Y/N" she said
You sighed and left the pair of pajamas you had in your hands to finally turn to the door. You were not surprised to find that pair of teary eyes looking at you, you knew that if anyone would dare to come to see you it would be your sister-in-law. She was the only person in that house who cared about you besides your husband, and he... he was gone.
"...5 years, Julieta" you whispered "it's been 5 years since Bruno left. 5 years since he left me alone, he didn't even say goodbye, not a note, not an explanation. He just left. He didn't care about the children nor how I would survive alone"
"You're not alone, that's what we're here for" the brunette said "we are your family Y/N and you can count on us until Bruno comes back"
"If he does come back" you said "...Julieta, let's not fool ourselves, if he wanted to come back he would have already done so...or at least he would have sent something, a signal...I would wait for him if that were the case. But it’s not and I can't stay here and see how my children... I can't"
The woman felt a pang in her chest as if you had just stabbed her. She looked at you with sadness and pain, but she couldn't find a single ounce of hate or anger in her. She knew you were right, she knew this was the best you could do. But it hurt her to think of losing you, losing her nephews, just as she lost her brother. And it hurt to think it was her fault.
"...you blame her" she whispered
"What?"
"Mirabel" she said a little louder "you blame her for this. You think Bruno left because of her"
It was not a question.
"Of course not" you said immediately "if someone is completely clean and innocent in all this it’s Mirabel"
"Then why-"
"Your mother" you interrupted "Juli...we both know this won't end well. Your mother, the same woman who used to be so loving towards Mira, now sees her as a mistake, a dishonor to the family. And I know that you heard when she asked Pepa to have another child to see if the magic is disappearing... you know as well as I do that it is no coincidence that she asked her when my children are already here"
"... she said that a daughter of mine had caused this... that she would not take risks with me again" the brunette said with a sadness that penetrated your soul
"And she doesn't trust my children...because they are Bruno's children" you said "...I don't want María and Joaquín to grow up in a house where they are nothing more than instruments for the town’s people. I don't want them to think that it depends on them to earn to be treated well...I have to go"
Your sister-in-law looked at you for a moment, with all the ideas fluttering at a thousand an hour in her mind. She knew you were right and she admired you for doing what she would never have the courage to do.
Julieta sighed and closed the door behind her, walking over to you and taking Maria's suitcase.
"Wait until after dinner" she told you
"Juli-"
"It will be easier for you to leave" she interrupted you "Dolores will be asleep, mom won't be watching, and I... I will be able to have a last dinner with my niece and nephew"
She smiled at you and, not for the first time, you felt a warmth in your chest that was reserved only for her, your children, and Bruno. She was more than a sister-in-law to you, she was your best friend and you were definitely going to miss her.
"Besides" she said tentatively "...I have to ask you a favor"
You raised your eyebrow curiously, but the way her huge eyes begged you to listen was enough for you. She had never asked you for anything and she had been your biggest support since your husband left. It was the least you could do.
___________________________
Alma frowned as Casita pushed an envelope across the tiles until it reached her feet. She had found it strange that Julieta's eyes were red during breakfast as if she had been crying, and neither you nor your children had come down.
Nobody asked anything, because everyone knew that you had a fight with the matriarch a few days ago. But that didn't stop your mother-in-law from rolling her eyes and commenting on how childish you were being. Julieta bit her lip and clenched her fists in rage when her mother didn't seem to notice anyone else's absence.
Alma reached down to take the envelope and her frown deepened as she saw her name scrawled in your fine handwriting. What kind of ruse were you up to now? She was about to throw the letter away when her eldest daughter appeared out of nowhere and looked at her with her arms crossed and a frown on her face.
"Read it" she ordered
The matriarch was surprised at the sharp and dry tone of her daughter. Julieta had never spoken to her like that.
“Why?”
“Just read it”
The woman held her daughter's gaze for a moment before rolling her eyes and opening the envelope. She wasn't going to admit it, but there was something in the older triplet's eyes that made her stomach twist with nerves. As if something bad was going to happen or... or maybe it had already happened.
Your handwriting had never been pretty enough in Alma's opinion, but if she was honest, you had never been enough for her son as far as she was concerned. She had always had faith that her Brunito would find his place in the family, that he would find a wonderful wife who would remind him of what mattered.
But then you had come along and transformed her precious son into someone he wasn't. Her Bruno was quiet and shy and he would never hurt anyone. The man next to you was laughing out loud and shameless, with no trace of the manners she had taught him as a child. She was sure that he had left because of you. Well, yours and Mirabel's fault.
The only good thing you brought was her grandchildren. María was such a sweet girl, she would undoubtedly follow in her aunt's footsteps and inherit a wonderful and useful gift like Julieta's, and Joaquín was the living image of her beloved Pedro, that's why he was her favorite grandson after Isabela. If only she could prevent you from corrupting him, she was sure that Joaquinsito would be the most wonderful man in the world.
This had better be your apology because you had made a terrible fuss last week when she suggested that your children would be better off under her guardianship and that she would look after them until Brunito returned.
However, her daydreams were cut short when she started reading your letter.
Señora Alma:
I'm not going to start this off with niceties, I'm not even going to pretend there's any esteem between us, I'm just going to let you know what's happened.
I am truly aware that for you, madam, I am just any infamous sinner who could not bear the absence of a husband, one who has not known whether his children eat or dress in his home.
Alma clenched her fists angrily. How dare you talk like that about her son?! If it wasn't for her being aware of Julieta's presence behind her, she would have ripped the paper in that instant, but she forced herself to continue reading.
You who have been a mother will know that for your children you are capable of everything.
Wow, finally one thing she could agree with you on.
So you know, I can be the worst of all, I can be whatever you want, but for my children, I am capable of anything. I will not wait for that man for an eternity, he can do whatever he wants, just like the rest of his family, but I want to see my children succeed, and grow up without the pressure of being puppets in your circus.
Nor will I let an innocent girl pay for not being what you expected, or suffer a life of pain and sadness when all she has done is be the most beautiful girl in the world. I've taken three of your soldiers from you, and I'll make sure they grow up happy, something you never cared about.
I will fight for them. So, excuse me suegrita, but if you love your son so much, then YOU wait for him.
-Y/N
Alma froze in her place and felt a shiver run down her spine. So that's why you weren't at breakfast. That was why neither María nor Joaquín had gone to wake her up. You had taken them, you had stolen her grandchildren.
That's why Julieta-...Julieta. Julieta had cried, she had insisted that she read this... this death sentence. She knew it. A few words echoed in her mind.
Nor will I let an innocent girl pay for not being what you expected.
I have taken three of your soldiers
Alma turned to see her daughter looking at her with ice in her eyes and a face without feeling. She was nothing like the warm woman she knew.
"Julita" she said carefully "...where is Mirabel?"
"Safe, mom" the brunette smiled cruelly "far, far away from you"
Alma gasped silently and stared in horror at her daughter as Julieta casually came down the stairs as if she hadn't just admitted that she had let her sister-in-law take her daughter away from her family.
The oldest triplet knew that her mother would never understand, but just like you, she had done what was best for her baby. Mirabel would never be happy surrounded by people who looked at her as a mistake. But you? You would look at her with love and make sure that she was happy and well. It was all she could ask for.
_________________
Bruno slumped in his dusty old chair in defeat. Your letter was lying at his feet. He had heard his mother and sister talk, but he hadn't understood much, so the rats had brought him the piece of paper that mom had tried to burn.
He felt a dagger go through his heart. You were gone, and it was his fault. He should have told you what he did, he should have explained everything to you. But he didn't, and now he had lost you, his children, and Mirabel. Everything was for nothing in the end.
He supposed it made sense, after all, if he had fallen so madly in love with you it was because you were like him, and he knew you would do anything for your family. What he didn’t expect was for you to defy and change the future.

So, i decided give you a sneak pesk frol their first meeting
About the love story of Tera ans Arashi
(@alexoreality , @aenbyveryverygayperson , @botankirishima )
A young woman with chin-length green hair was cutting some meat in the kitchen of a bar, her ears paying attention at all times to the side conversations of customers.
"My Calla Lily we are out of drink"
"You'll have to wait guys, we're still out of alcohol" she comes out of the kitchen with a tray of snacks
"Still?"
"I can't do anything, Misha has already gone to the port to get it" she jokes, serving the fried food while laughing along with the drunks at the bar.
Back in the kitchen, Tera continues to prepare snacks in order to distract the customers who are starting to get stressed due to the lack of drinks.
"This way" she hears a male voice coming from the back and is relieved to know that the drink has finally arrived….until she hears the sound of boxes falling.
With the knife still in hand, Tera quickly goes to the storage room at the back of the bar, there she finds a young man with dark blue hair, tall and strong wearing simple clothes...a sword on his waist while holding a box...a box of meat lying on the floor.
Tera tries to pass by to get a better look but her path is blocked by the boy.
"Look, I…"
"Are you going to let me pass or not?" She says pointing the knife and the boy takes a step back, dropping the box that was in her hands. For a moment, Tera feels the sheath of the sword touch her leg, pushing her away just in time before a bottle falls from the box and the glass scatters across the floor.
"I won't pay for this"
"Pay? This what?"
"Booze and meat, idiot"
"Oh"
Tera looks around and takes a deep breath, the barrios are intact and the bottles only break twice and apparently the meat box only opened
"Are you going to help me or are you going to stand there like a cornflower?"
"Sorry" and he immediately bends down to help pick up the product that fell on the floor
"You're not Misha"
"I'm Arashi, I came on the ship that transported these products, Misha went to sign some papers and asked me to bring them" Arashi says closing the box
Tera looks again at the sword at his waist, it would probably be worth some good berries but she decided not to bring up the subject for now...
"You're going to leave or what?" Tera tells Arashi that he opens his mouth to speak but is interrupted by a scream coming from inside
"TERA, DDM FOR YOU"
"Get lost" She says pointing the kitchen knife at him one last time before sulking inside.
As Arashi leaves, he takes one last look at the girl before resting his hand on the hilt of his sword and walking away, a cut made by the glass on his shin.

I will be visiting Lisbon soon! What are the things you consider totally definitely must do/must see?
Sorry if this is too straightforward I’m just so lost planning what should be at the top of the list!
Try to enjoy the city, having a meal in Time Out market, walking on the narrow streets of Alfama, taking a drink at night in Barrio Alto. One of the most famous spot is Castelo de Sao Jorge, in my opinion not worth to visit, however the view from the old castle is breathtaking, such as from the top of the Cristo Cristo Rei, wich is located on the other side of Tagus. Also there, in Cachilas you can find a variety of good and cheap retaurant for a nice dinner. If the weather allows, Costa Caparica offers a whole day fun with its sandy beaches, bars, and the crystal clear sea. Cascais can be a good destination for a one-day trip, if you like the seafood I would recommend the restaurant inside the market hall. Worth to visit Sintra as well. There are several castels and palaces, the most famous is the Pena Castle, but we love the garden of Quinta Regaleira and Monserrat too. If you can afford to rent a tuk tuk, you can visit more than one of them in one day. In Sintra you should try the restaurant called Infame, never disappointed us.
