Uniqlo’s Supima Collection
by Erica Dsouza, Staff Editor for Traffic Fashion.
A Yamaguchi based company, Ogori Shoji opened a unisex clothing store in 1984. It was then called Unique Clothing Warehouse. At first, the brand was going to be registered under the name ‘unique clothing’ i.e. uni-clo. However, the C was misread as Q and the brand name came to be known as Uniqlo. By 1994 there were over a 100 stores operating all throughout Japan.
The world is their target, Uniqlo stores are opened in Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, China, France, Germany, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines, UK, and USA. They are geared to set up a store in India in the year 2019.
According to the CEO (2017) Nobuo Domae, The essence of Uniqlo lies in embracing the best trends that are updated at the right time. Not too early, nor too late.  They create artistic patterns and rhythm. Their clothing reflects characteristics of modern Japanese.
Tumblr media
The goal is to make people feel comfortable in the clothes they wear. The clothing brand proposes a new way of thinking, diversity and challenging fashion. Their belief is that the better the people feel, the better the can do for the world every day. Uniqlo makes every day’s simple clothing better.
Uniqlo took on a new mission of merging British heritage of JW Anderson with everyday comfort and quality perfection assured by Uniqlo.
At times when we see latest fashion trends, we wonder, “who wears these clothes?”. But Uniqlo keeps it simple.  Every day they post a new topic on their blog. They discuss fashion and trend in its simplest beauty.
Founder Tadashi Yanai doesn’t view his business as a clothing company but as a technology company. Its staff contains a good percentage of employees with disabilities compared to other business in Japan. Employees in every store are trained to ask the customer if they’ve found everything they were looking for if the employee could help in any way and most importantly accept and hand over the credit and receipt with two hands just as it’s done in Japanese culture. At one point, The Daily Mail claimed that the cashmere sweater sold by Uniqlo was the best compared to 8 fast-fashion retailers. The quality, wash-ability and color fastness beat its competitors.
The customer reviews differ. Some strongly feel that Uniqlo offers the best clothes. With solid colors and good quality, what else do we need? Whereas some customers prefer H&M, Mango, UBC.
Uniqlo’s blog keeps customers- both potential and current- up to date with trends, ideas, fashion advice and latest additions to their shelves.
Customers described the Supima Collection offered by Uniqlo as a “go-to basic tee”. Reviewers deemed the tees to be sold at a reasonable price, compared to competitors. Unlike t-shirts that give a cut where the sleeves are shorter and narrow body width. Therefore, if you want a traditional fit go for Uniqlo Supima. The dye of these tees does not fade easily.

Five Different Brands, Five Different Style Delivered To Your Doorstep
by Erica Dsouza, Staff Editor for Traffic Fashion.
“The core of any business is to earn money. You have not done your job well until you find a stranger who is willing to open his/her wallet to give you money for the service/products that you are offering.” – Flipkart.
Tumblr media
India encourages entrepreneurs. People who worked in their field of study, found that their passion lies somewhere else. Some of those people went on to start fashion brands which today stand out among top ten, most used and most visited.
I studied 5 companies, their products, the quality, what makes them different from the crowd and found that cut throat competition might be somewhere in their top ten concerns. But with certainty, I can say the first concern is to satisfy the customer.
Being different is not enough if the product offered is unwanted.
In the line of fashion and apparel where preferences change like the weather, these 5 brands have made name, earned the fame and produced ground-breaking results.
1. The Worktee
Website: https://www.theworktee.com/shop
The team at Worktee was inspired by a Japanese idiom which when translated spelled “one opportunity, one encounter”.
Putting premium quality and technical fabric together, Worktee strives to bring the best apparel at the best price to their customers. Focus is on the customer.
Quality and Durability assurance is guaranteed. World’s best cotton, Supima cotton, is used to manufacture the perfect t-shirt fit for work and casual wear. The t-shirt is resistant to mildew, pinning and fading of color.  Customers have reviewed the product and claimed that it is super comfortable and gives a stylish, elegant look to the person wearing it.
It is available in all sizes. The target here is to satisfy needs of customers who want t-shirts suitable for the office and after hours. Logos and slang, dialogues and catch-phrases are not the brand’s forte. They lean towards a sharp, comfortable and subtle look.
In addition to this, the t-shirt is 4x softer and durable compared to any other t-shirt in your wardrobe. They are available in black and blue shades.
The price fits perfectly with the fabric used and product sold. Check out Worktee products here: www.theworktee.com
2. REDWOLF
Website: https://www.redwolf.in/about-us
Redwolf was introduced to the world in 2011. It is an independent clothing label minus the big corporation. A business started by a group of friends, with the saving they had. Apart from being a website that offers clothing which appeals to teens and pre-teens search, their goal is to encourage and support artists all over the globe to make every t-shirt they produce look damn good.
You must be wondering the mystery behind the name. Why Redwolf?   According to the team, wolves symbolize loyalty to brotherhood and a community where one looks out for the others. They run in packs and they are awesome! No doubt there.
Redwolf urges its customers to send in original designs. The final approval/decision whether it will be used or not lies with the Redwolf team. The apparel they sell is 100% high-quality cotton fabric. They cater to every body size.
Apart from apparel they also sell mugs, shot glasses, posters, boxers, laptop skins, laptop bags, key chains, fridge magnets, mobile covers, and notebooks.
3. Bewakoof
Link : https://bewakoof.com
Society uses the word Bewakoof to describe someone stupid. But don’t people who think they can make a change or do something differently are also called Bewakoof?
The Goal: Making an impact through innovation, honesty and thoughtfulness.
With every T-shirt design and funky pajama set, Bewakoof only wants to make a statement that boosts positive vibes only.
Launched in 2012,  the founders went for quirky, funky and unique messages on their products.
The brand works with in-house capabilities, all products are made in India. They eliminate middlemen wherever possible. After producing the products , they are directly sold to customers online. Prices on the website scream ‘reasonable’, they are! Plus, the Bewakoof  team does not compromise on quality.
Unlike many other websites, Bewakoof sells only apparel and mobile covers. It is India’s top most socially engaged brand. With a 1.5 Million Bewakoof following on Facebook, the brand doesn’t have much trouble when it comes to marketing.  Offline promotions are a mix of college tie-ups and associations with popular events like Comic Con, NH7, and Mood Indigo, etc.
“We are the first point of contact for merchandising for all the major production houses,” says the founder.
Fabric depends on the product.
T-shirt (100% cotton, polyester blend, rayon cotton blend, etc.)
Graphics (Single color, 2 colors, 4 colors, multi-color etc.)
4. Postfold
Website: https://www.postfold.com/
Imagine staring at your closet, the clothes-covered-chair, your bed, even your washing machine and thinking, what to wear?!
It’s super annoying when you cannot find a right blouse or shirt that you can wear to work, then for a drink with your gang or just. . . wear!
The Postfold team paid heed to your problem because it was a problem they faced too, and turned into a business opportunity. Today they serve the purpose of creating, designing and offering clothes of the best quality and at a reasonable price.
The co-founders found it absurd that they could not find the right outfit to wear to work and after work.
In an interview, one founder commented, “Either the affordable apparel was of a low quality of the high-quality apparel was excruciatingly high priced. We thought of coming up with a brand where the clothes are so versatile, that they can be worn to work, and also after work and are affordable.”
With no middlemen involved and no compromises made to satisfy customers, focus is on essentials. The goal here isn’t only to be India’s leading fashion brand, but to produce clothes that last.
Soft, comfortable, durable, best quality – are the essentials they live by.
5. Chimpwear
Website: https://www.chimpwear.com/
Founded in 2014, the idea that drove the brand to be born was to see everyone in a cool, ‘designed in India’ t-shirt. The team of Chimpwear visions world leaders coming to India only to buy these awesome t-shirts.
Chimpwear offers Supima t-shirts. Supima is the world’s finest cotton. They also incorporate organic cotton when manufacturing the apparel they offer. This makes customers feel like they are contributing to the environment and looking good while they do it. This is what sets their products apart from competitors.
On the website you will find the usual – t-shirts, bottoms for men and women. But there are two bonus collections. Supima t-shirts and scarves! In addition to this, they got eye masks, notebooks, aprons and tin boxes.
