The Cat, The Sun, and The Moon
Fnaf fanfic
Sun/moon x female oc
Part 8
Warnings: strong language, sexual themes, vaginal fingering, use of toys, vaginal sex with a toy
Summary: Tabby and Sun spend some quality time together and finally have a real date day while exploring their new relationship…while Moon feels like a third wheel.
Feedback appreciated, 18+.
Tumblr media
The last week had been quite eventful…
Sun, ever the robot to please, took every opportunity to fulfill duties he saw as ‘househusbandly’. Despite not putting actual labels to each other, Tabby and Sun very quickly started giving ‘I love yous’ to one another. True sentiment warmed the words, neither ever finding such companionship and acceptance prior.
Tabby had cared for them for a good long while, finally starting to accept how deeply that feeling truly ran. They were animatronics, but had given her more in the short time she’d known them than any man with a heart of flesh. It was an odd feeling, to be safe in another’s arms, but they were weird and that was perfectly alright.
Not to mention Tabby’s fingers had quite literally been within his chest, a special type of intimacy only he, Moon, and her shared.
Vulnerability was a gift, one that both Tabby and Sun chose to give after keeping it so hidden after years of mistreatment at the hands of others.
It was a layer of closeness that Moon coveted, yet his fears held that want deeply.
More good news came in the announcement that Fazbear Entertainment was cutting losses and fully pulling out of that area of the country. Too many financial losses over the last year.
Tabby nightly creeped all their socials and Internet forums since the fire to keep tabs on the company the best she could. It was a relief to have their presence no longer casting a foreboding shadow over them.
Tabby was more comfortable going on walks with Sun, getting him some true fresh air and new sights. The attitude of the world shifting, the younger generations hardly batting an eye to robots in the city. Tabby still made them keep their hood up, even going as far to make him wear a face mask or carry an umbrella some days.
Moon was another story…still being quite withdrawn and moody. He’d started climbing the fire escape at night, spending hours just looking at the sky…
~
The bedroom filled with the rhythmic sounds of passion, praises mixed with the slap of skin against metal.
Sun’s hand was over his pelvis, fingers curled upwards to mimic the placement of a cock. Tabby straddled him, bouncing on those fingers, being urged on by his free hand on her hip. Sun was nothing but words of praise and encouragement, rays spinning as she lost herself further.
Tabby had her hands flat against the metal of his chest, legs trembling as his fingers stretched her open.
“You’re so beautiful.” His voice was wistful, optics hearts as he watched her.
The sound she made mixed in with the wet squelched of her cunt.
“Pretty, pretty, pretty.” Sun chanted, “All for me.”
“Yes.” Tabby nodded, losing herself rapidly.
“Say it.” Sun urged, curling his fingers into her sweet spot.
“I’m yours!” She hiccuped, hips bucking forward.
His rays spun, smile spanning the width of his faceplate. The hand on her hip gripped her a bit tighter, fingers digging into the skin possessively. He very quickly learned the weakness she felt by just the size of his hands.
Moon watched, feeling a mixture of jealousy, discomfort and soul crushing desire. Becoming an involuntarily voyeur to their activities did nothing for his shyness when interacting with Tabitha.
He knew what she tasted like, the sounds she made in pleasure, and what her insides felt around exploring fingers. It was all through a film of gauze, a layer of separation when he wasn’t in control, but it was enough.
Oh god it was enough.
The desire he felt, when watching her cry out for Sun, was indescribable.
It sank deep into his circuits, melting his processors to mush when he’d replay those tapes over and over again for himself later.
Sun was deaf to Moon’s current suffering, much too preoccupied with the woman using his fingers to fuck herself silly.
He felt her tighten, urging her on sweetly.
“I love you!” She cried, clamping around his fingers. She fell forward, cuddling into his chest as quakes of pleasure rocketed through her body.
“I love you too, Sunshine!” Sun held her close, working her through the most recent orgasm, “You did so so so so well!”
Feeling that she was quite spent, he withdrew from her, cuddling her a bit before sitting her down.
She flopped onto the bed, sweaty as she gulped in air.
“Good morning Starlight!” Sun’s smile was arrogant as his rays softly clinked back and forth.
“M-morning.” She managed back, raising a thumbs up.
Sun chuckled, leaning closer to ask cheekily, “Better than coffee?”
She gave a nod, echoing, “Better than coffee.” She swallowed, adding “I still would like coffee though…” There was almost a pleading lilt to her voice making Sun chuckle further.
He stood up, leaning his lanky frame easily over the bed to press his faceplate to her forehead in a makeshift kiss.
“I’ll start a bath for you, then coffee after, alrighty?” He hummed.
She nodded, attempting to still the small quakes of aftershocks.
Sun continued to hum, evolving into a tune as he left the bedroom.
Tabby smoothed back sweaty strands of hair from her forehead, hearing the faucet turn on across the hall.
Sun’s caretaking skills smoothly slid into the daily routine of taking care of her “in every way” as he would say. The animatronic not leave much space to doubt his intentions, or Tabby the room to question…often.
This is weird…
She thought, sitting up.
But I’m…happy?
Her thoughts swirled.
It was an odd feeling, to be content with the presence of a partner, to feel secure in someone’s arms. Like they would kill for you.
As promised the coffee was poured and ready on the counter as Tabby stepped out of the bathroom, towling her hair dry as she went. Cup still steaming she carefully took it, breathing deep the aroma.
“It’s a beautiful day!” Sun announced, looking out the balcony door windows. He mindlessly swayed as he watched people walk below.
“Let’s go out today?” Tabby offered, brightening as she sat the damn towel beside her.
“Just a walk?” Sun asked, not turning from the window, “We just bought groceries.”
“We could go to the mall?” Voice hopeful, “It could be fun.”
“I've never been to a mall!” Sun’s head spun around like an owl to meet her question with an excited grin.
“It’s a weekday, so it shouldn’t be too busy.” She sipped her coffee again before going on, “But I can show you where I get my shoes and stuff.”
“I’d love love love to!” Sun agreed wholly, his body twisting fluidly to right itself with his head position.
~
Even though they’d taken a handful of walks together previously Sun never lost that look of wonder about him with every new outing. He would smile up into the sunlight and admire every little tree or bird that dotted the city streets.
Being near him made Tabby forget how mundane things had seemed to become. His optimism was a breath of fresh air to her smog filled mind.
And when the animatronic was happy he was talkative.
Sun chatted her ear off as they walked to the mall, reaching out to hold her hand. She would nod and smile, just listening to him ramble on about anything. He moved his free hand to emphasize certain words, smiling at her with utter delight.
The mall was big, multiple stories of shops with a large food court and open central plaza. Everything was a pale white with natural lighting making it feel more inviting despite the emptiness such a building could have on a slow day.
Sun walked in, faceplate raised towards the ceiling in an attempt to take everything in. It has been a long time since he’d been in such a large structure, waves of nostalgia washing over him.
“Woah.” He turned a bit, face still skyward.
“And this isn’t even the biggest one in the city.” Tabby pointed out.
“Dang.” Sun hummed, listening to the echo of their shoes.
“It’s a nice place to waste a day.” Tabby shrugged, taking his hand again.
She led him towards a bigger clothing store; Sun just followed obediently, too engrossed in trying to see everything around him.
“I shop here a lot when I’m not buying stuff online.” She informed, pulling him into the maze of clothing racks. Sun looked like a lone tree standing far above the racks, faceplate a never fading smile as Tabby explained certain sections and styles.
“Let’s put you in some skinny jeans and a nice flannel shirt!” Tabby clapped her hands together excitedly.
Sun looked bashful but nodded.
They found what she was imagining, scouting out a free dressing room to follow. Despite his stick legs it took a good few moments and teamwork to get him into the jeans, the pants only coming to his calf given his tall stature. The flannel was much easier, button ups totally avoiding the issue of his disk-like head and the wires that attached it.
Tabby stepped back to admire her work as Sun looked himself over.
“You look good!” She smiled brightly, a blush dusting her cheeks.
“I do?” He cocked his head, fiddling with the shirt a bit in the mirror. He shifted a bit, commenting, “The pants are a bit restrictive…”
“The price of beauty.” Tabby teased, padding up to look at them both in the mirror. Sun put his arm around her.
“Make a good pair?” He asked, a smile stretching across his faceplate.
She leaned into him more, making a thinking face just to worry him.
“Yes.” She finally gave him relief, adding afterwards, “But if you really want to match I’ll have to find some leather pants and spiked jewelry for you.”
Sun wilted, making her laugh.
“I’m joking!” She playfully shoved him away a bit, “I know black isn’t your color. Moon might dress punk with me though.”
“You both are brats.” Sun huffed, crossing his arms and looking away indignantly.
Tabby giggled harder, trying to tickle him and break his resolve.
As Sun worked to shimmy out of the jeans, Tabby’s attention shifted back towards the mirror. She looked herself over: her clothes were starting to get pretty tight…
She smoothed her hands over her stomach, drifting downwards to her widening hips.
She gave a little sigh.
Sun perked up, the look of frustration falling away to concern. He shuffled around a bit, pants holding his feet together.
“Sunshine?” He chirped.
Tabby sighed again, unwavering in her scrutiny, “I’m gaining weight…” her voice was thick with disappointment.
Sun scoffed, “Because you are finally eating healthy.”
It was true.
Sun was an attentive caretaker, making three meals a day for her and guilt tripping hard if she refused. She was finally providing her body with adequate nutrition after years of energy drinks and boxed snacks.
“I think you look pretty.” Sun spoke genuinely, adding, “More now than ever.” The certainty in his tone, like every word was fact, made her look back at herself again.
There was more color to her cheeks, a brightness about her. If anything she looked less boney, filling out her figure.
“You think so?” She hummed.
“I know so.” He smiled back, hopping a bit to get his foot free of the constructive pants.
Sun ended up buying a flannel with his own hard earned money, even finding a funny T-shirt for Moon. Tabby giggled, reading over it. The shirt was dark with big bold letters saying: I Bite.
It didn’t take long for Sun to spot their next impromptu stop.
“They have an arcade!” Sun exclaimed, pointing towards the gaming corner of the mall. His optics showed stars, bouncing a bit as he asked, “Can we go? Can we? Can we? Can we?”
“We gotta stay in the main half.” She pointed out, remembering the darker, neon light section.
“Please!?” He begged, jumping in place.
Tabby took his arm to steady him, smiling, “Let go.”
“Yeah!!”
As they stepped inside, shoes sticking to the crunchy patterned carpet, Tabby realized how barren the place was. They would basically have the main gaming area to themselves.
She found a token machine, ruffling through her purse for money. Sun swayed happily beside her, excitement vibrating through his system.
“I always wanted to go to the arcade.” Sun beamed, “It looked so fun!”
“Why didn’t you?” She asked, feeding dollars into the token machine as she listened.
“It was against the rules.” He answered simply, “But Moon would go sometimes. And sometimes he’d bring me little things back.” Sun cupped a hand as if holding the little trinkets, smiling down at his empty palm in memory, “One time he found a little fish toy that could glow in the dark. I made sure to leave it in the light so he could see it glow later.”
Tabby glanced back at him. Sentimental affection pooled in his milky gaze, still cupping his empty hand.
“Maybe we can win one today?” She offered, collecting the tokens.
“Yea!?” Sun brightened, looking suddenly determined.
He skipped deeper into the game room, faceplate rotating as much as the hoodie would allow, to take everything in.
His voice was light as he chirped, “What first?! What first?!”
“Anything you like.” Tabby smiled, adding cheekily, “What would you like to pop your arcade cherry with?”
Sun didn’t even register her risqué comment, too engrossed in his surroundings. Looking like a kid in a candy store, the animatronic wandered around to browse his options. With every bright flash of light from a machine, or funky sound he would jump and gush about how amazing it was.
Tabby smiled softly, following with her hands full of tokens patiently. This was all new for him after all.
He halted, pointing, “That one!”
Tabby followed his finger, seeing a two person racing game. This was one that you could sit on fake motorcycles to turn and steer.
She chuckled with a nod, feeding the tokens in as Sun got comfortable. (Or as comfortable as one with such a lanky frame could manage) He gripped the handlebars, leaning forward to mimic people he saw on tv.
“Easy, tiger.” Tabby swung her leg over her own.
He almost didn’t hear her, bouncing a bit with impatience.
The game was fast, but Sun was full of laughter nevertheless, begging to go again. Afterwards they played some smaller games here or there until Sun’s attention was captured by a corner of rainbow lighting.
“Let’s do this one!” Sun smiled eagerly at a dance dance Revolution game. The bright lights of the dance pad reflected off his metal, sending colors dancing over his features.
“I…might sit this one out.” Tabby held herself a little tighter, taking a step back.
Sun cocked his head, reaching out for her, “Come on starlight, it’ll be fun.” His voice was both gentle and encouraging at the same time, sending a crack through her self consciousness.
“I’m shit at dancing.” She shook her head.
“It’s not about being good.” He smiled, “It’s about having fun!”
He took her hands, leading her closer to the game, “Come on.”
“Fine!” She conceded, awkwardly stepping onto the dance square.
They both were pretty bad at the game, Sun not letting it get to him despite it all. He was all smiles and laughter as he tried to hit the lit up squares while Tabby tried to focus intently.
She ended up loosing…sorely.
“That was fun!” Sun straightened, unable to get winded.
Tabby on the other hand, huffed to catch her breath, face red.
“Better luck next time.” Sun smiled, no jesting to his encouragement.
“No.” Tabby huffed hotly, bending down to fight with the buckles of her boots.
He tilted his head, “No?”
“Fuck you.” She threw her boots to the side, “I want a rematch.”
He glanced down at her sock clad feet, realizing she was attempting to get some sort of advantage without her chunky boots. Sun’s look of concern evaporated into a sly smirk.
“If you insist, starlight.” His voice was like honey, a gleam to his milky eyes.
She lost again…
Sun cheered triumphantly this time, the fires of competition going to his head.
“It’s not fair.” Tabby murmured indignantly as she fetched her boots, “You have longer legs.”
“And you are a sore loser.” He shot back, adding cheekily, “With tiny legs.”
“I’m normal sized!” She stomped.
“Not from my perspective.” He teased, standing as straight as he could to exasperate the difference in their heights.
Tabby sputtered up at him like a feral kitten, becoming worse at his smug smile. He chuckled at her little display, crossing his arms as he waited her out.
“Just because you look like a giraffe!” She spouted.
“A giraffe?” He put a hand to his chest.
“You’re even yellow!” Tabby couldn’t help the smile that cracked over her face.
“I’m even yellow???” Sun echoed in disbelief, putting on a tone of offense, “How dare you?”
Tabby cracked further, a little giggle eaking out as Sun dramatically laid the back of his hand over his faceplate, free hand fisted over his chest.
“How dare you?!” He turned away flamboyantly, bowing his head.
Tabby fully laughed now at his antics, closing the distance between them to grab at him.
“Oh come on, theater boy.” She giggled, trying to pull him, “We have more tokens to spend!”
Dropping the act like a stone, Sun turned back towards her snickering.
They managed to get a good haul of tickets; Sun a bit too proficient with time centric games, Tabby needing to cut him off before they got kicked out for cheating.
Sun waited near the entrance, people watching, as Tabby turned in their winnings at the prize counter. He’d begun to daydream when she padded up next to him.
“Was this what you meant?” Tabby’s voice was hopeful as she held out a little soft plastic toy: it was a small green fish with painted black eyes.
Sun took it carefully, smiling, “It’s a bit different, but it’s still swell!” He had to use his free hand to press against his rays to keep them away, looking almost embarrassed as he tilted his head.
“What else did you get?” He asked, trying to distract from himself.
“Um…” Tabby looked into the little bag, “I got a sticky hand, and a Chinese finger trap…” she showed off each object respectively.
“I used to have to confiscate those a lot.” Sun murmured, gesturing to the finger trap.
“Wait why?” She cocked her head, skeptical.
Sun frowned, “The kids would get them stuck and scream, or they would trick the smaller ones to do the same thing. I just started taking them. That and slime…” Sun shivered in remembrance, “The slime got everywhere.”
“Did you ever have problems with the magnets?” Tabby asked as they walked back into the main plaza. She could remember all the promotional or character magnets the Plex’s arcade counter used to have.
“Like with the kids or myself?”
“Yourself.” She clarified, “Like the kids using them against you.”
“You think Fazbear Entertainment makes gift magnets strong enough to interfere with any software??” He scoffed.
“Fair enough.”
“The most damage they could do is to my patience.” He huffed, “They would make a game of sticking them to my back on the bits of steel around my mounting ring.”
“Mounting ring.” Tabby giggled.
“That’s what it’s called!” Sun snapped, exasperated.
“Like a horse.” She snorted.
Sun played a fairly realistic horse sound from his voice box making Tabby cover her mouth to hide the noise that threatened to leave her.
“I can do more.” Sun announced, playing a different one and making her break down a bit more. Tabby was attempting to keep her cool in public, Sun using that to his advantage. He leaned in closer, smile devious. “I can even gallop a bit for you if you ask reeeeal nicely.”
“What about a horse ride?” She managed through the snickers, still hiding half her face.
“You’ll have to take me to dinner first.” He winked.
“Sun!”
She shoved him playfully as they laughed, other people gave a side eye at their antics as they passed.
As the laughter subsided, Sun caught a sound: a low grumble. His head tilted, asking knowingly, “Are you hungry?”
“…maybe.”
The food court was more busy than the other sections of the mall, as it was getting closer to lunchtime. Sun pulled his hoodie closed around his faceplate, hunching over to follow behind Tabby. She went straight for the Chinese restaurant, a goofy panda sign greeting them.
This was all greasy quick versions of food, although you wouldn’t find her complaining about it. Sun declined any himself, knowing all he needed by a quick scan.
“This definitely reminds me of the plex…” he commented, tapping a finger on the table once they sat down. His optics squinted a bit as Tabby stirred in some packets of soy sauce.
“It’s mall food.” She shrugged, beginning to eat.
Natural light filtered in through the large sky windows over the food court. Sun never realized how much he missed the background hum of people, gathered together enjoying their time together. He felt content, simply sitting quietly to listen as Tabby played on her phone in-between bites.
Sun watched her, optics half lidded. His head tilted to the side.
Tabby noticed his gaze, making a little movement of realization. Sun’s smile widened fondly at the rosey blush that darkened her cheeks.
“What?” She gave a self conscious giggle, averting her gaze.
Sun’s fans whirled more audibly, moving a hand across the table. His arm rested against it gently as his fingers reached out towards her hand. Tabby instinctively moved a bit closer, lacing their fingers together.
“I’ve had a really good time today.” Sun murmured. His voice was soft and genuine.
She gave his hand a little squeeze. He returned the gesture, free hand coming up to push a threatening ray back in.
“I hope-“ Tabby stirred around her food a bit, eyes downcast, “We can do more together from now on.”
“I’d like that.” He nodded.
~
“Oh hey, I used to get some edgy jewelry here!” Tabby pointed to another shop. This one was fairly dark compared to the main mall, with lettering that resembled graffiti. Sun tilted his head, a tight look to his smile.
“Come on!” She pulled him by the hand, “They have cool band t-shirts!”
As they entered Sun was greeted with the sound of heavy music, following as Tabby still dragged him along.
“This definitely looks like a store you’d shop at…” he murmured, half smile forced.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” She halted, releasing him to rest a hand on her hip.
He didn’t answer with words, instead glancing around at the spiked jewelry, chains, and fake leather.
“Shut up.” She hissed.
He hovered around her for a bit, groaning here and there as she looked through racks of clothes. Sun finally wandered off on his own as Tabby looked over the jewelry section.
Not finding anything to her liking she straighter, looking around for her animatronic. Being seven foot tall normally made him stick out like a sore thumb, but with this store’s floor to ceiling shelves he was off her radar.
She found Sun near the back of the store, engrossed in the colorful objects lining the wall.
Oh god,
Tabby thought…
He found the sex toys.
Seeing her approach he eagerly pointed to one, “I like this one!”
Tabby followed his gaze to see a multicolored dildo sporting a suction cup base. Her stomach flipped a bit.
“That’s so big.” She whispered to him, embarrassed.
“It says ‘medium’.” He informed, pointing to the listed size.
Tabby’s face reddened, hissing lowly, “In no world is eight inches, ‘medium’!”
Sun hummed a bit, taking the box carefully off the hook. He compared it to the length of his fingers, doing some quick math in his head.
“You’ve taken three fingers already, this shouldn’t be much more of a squeeze.” He gave a big smile.
“Fuckin hell, don’t say that right now.” She was crimson.
“Please Sunshine?” He begged, pouting out his lip a bit, “I think we could have some fun with it.”
She turned away, tapping her foot a bit. Sun, knelt down to muscle her, begging more pitifully.
“Fine.” Tabby conceded.
Sun’s rays spun happily, the animatronic getting scolded shortly after.
Tabby about died all over again when the cashier’s eye drifted between her and the animatronic with a smirk. She had them double bag the purchase before escaping.
She didn’t breathe easy until they were back outside, letting out her breath. Sun was absolutely beaming, carrying the bags as he followed beside her.
“Want to try a smoothie?” Tabby asked excitedly, pointing to a little shop, “They make the best fruity ones here!”
“Sure!” Sun accepted instantly.
They waited in line, Sun hunching a bit to look less conspicuous. Tabby ordered a wild berry smoothie, while Sun wanted to try a tropical citrus one.
They began their walk again, turning their steps towards the apartment. Sun sipped on his drink, rays threatening to pop out in his excitement. “It’s good!” He announced happily.
“I’m happy you like it.” She smiled, walking closely by his side. Her eyes drifted down to the bag he was still holding, blushing a bit.
“Hm?” He tilted his head, voice clear despite him currently mid drink.
“It’s just…” Tabby looked away, “I don’t understand how you can still find me pretty after seeing me so gross and sick.”
Sun scoffed, “That was nothing. I've dealt with far worse, thousands of times.
“And that doesn’t get to you?” She asked, sipping from her cup.
“Not really.” Sun shrugged, smile never fading, “I don’t really feel disgust about the same things humans do.”
Tabby looked interested, Sun going on as they walked, “Well a large part of human disgust to certain things is the fear of contamination or infection, but I can’t get sick.”
She watched as he spoke, loving how he would use his hands to better express his words. His smoothie caused a bit of problems in that regard, it threatened to spill as he spoke.
“Of course I can still find things disgusting, but human fictions I’m quite jaded to.” He smiled, “Oh!” He lifted his free hand to tap at the decorative nose on his faceplate with his index finger, “I can’t really smell…well anything! So that helps.”
Tabby nodded, “That makes sense.”
“But don’t worry about grossing me out.” He waved his hand, a laugh to his tone, “It’s hard to do.”
~
Sun hummed a tune as he stripped off his clothes. Neatly folding the bright colored garments, he placed them back on a shelf in the hall closet, grabbing the much darker stack from the same shelf. He gingerly put on Moon’s hoodie and sweatpants, smoothing himself down afterwards.
Happy with himself he padded over to the light switch, waiting just long enough to finish the song he’d been humming. Nodding, he flipped the switch, the room instantly growing dim.
Moon blinked awake, taking a moment to gather himself. Having gone into rest mode earlier in the day, the transition was a bit more of an effort than normal. Feeling himself over, he realized Sun had saved him a bit of time by changing clothes already. He huffed, mood sour.
Not even that little gesture smoothing him out. He scuttled away, crawling into their box fort.
“Oh hey!” Tabby’s face lit up when she saw him.
Moon jumped a bit, fans kicking up as he ducked into the fort.
Her smile faded ever so slightly, pressing on nevertheless to show him some of the items from the earlier adventure.
She had the shirt set out on the table, gesturing to it, “Sun found a shirt for you. It’ll be less constricting. And…oh!” She found the little fish.
Padding closer she held out the toy to him like an offering, it giving off a faint glow in the dim light.
Moon peeked out, optics shifting in-between the fish and her face.
“We won it for you!” She smiled happily.
His chest knotted up, feeling hotter. Moon gulped, emotions becoming a tangle in his circuits.
Unable to process he withdrew, turning away from her with a grating sound coming from his voice-box.
Tabby straightened, concern flashing over her face for a fleeting moment. She placed the toy on the bookshelf, fingers lingering on the wood for a long moment before she turned back towards the animatronic.
Things had been tense between them since Sun had become a boyfriend to her of sorts…and she couldn’t blame him for feeling awkward around her.
What if he was disgusted? Or maybe he’s angry?
She thought, biting her lip. Trying to smooth things over a bit, they did have to live together after all, she offered softly, “Want to watch a movie together?”
“No.”
The answer was quick and sharp, Moon not even looking up.
“Well maybe we can-“ she was cut off abruptly.
Moon growled out a, “Go away.”
Annoyance shot through her at his total dismissal of her olive branch, that feeling fueling her next words.
“Why are you such a grumpus tonight?” Tabby asked, hands on her hips.
Moon shuffled deeper into the box fort, almost completely hidden.
Taking a breath, she tried to remind herself of his unfortunate, and from her perspective, disinterested, situation.
“Well…” Tabby dejectedly sat the tv remote on the coffee table, “Heres this, if you want to watch tv…and Sun hid all of my snacks on top of the cabinets.” She frowned, “So if you want any, they are up there. Help yourself.”
When he didn’t answer she sighed, leaving him be.
S: You are being a brat.
M: Shut up.
S: Touché Touché
Moon growled from deep in his throat, scribbling away at a drawing. He’d already snapped a few of their crayons by this point.
S: Is someone jealous?
Moon didn’t answer, covering the paper in dark circles.
S: Mad I'm the favorite?
Sun pushed his buttons.
M: what happened to her being ‘ours’???
S: You not making a move happened.
S: I'm not stopping you, she might even enjoy it.
M: unlikely…
Another crayon snapped, Moon ruffling through the box for a new one.
S: What did you tell me before?
Sun made some humming sounds in their shared headspace showily, making Moon roll his eyes.
S: OH! I remember!
S: “You better stop thinking a hole in our head and do something about it…”
S: Awfully ironic now, eh Moony?
S: Eating your own words? So to speak
“Shut up!” He growled aloud, pulling his hat down to cover his face.
Sun softened.
S: I'm only messing with you…
“Im not in the mood for messing.” He whispered, looking down at the storm of dark colors on the paper. He frowned, pointed teeth poking from his lips.
S: Oh moony…
S: Just talk to her, you’ll never know unless you do.
Moon huffed, clawing at the paper a bit.
M: She won’t like me…that way…Not like you…
S: You slept in her bed first, remember?
M: That’s different…
S: I think you’re overthinking things.
M: I'm the bad guy of the act…no one falls for them.
S: This isn’t the stage.
Moon felt a pain in his chest.
M: Sun…I don’t know how to stop acting…
~
By the time Tabby returned home from work the following day, Sun had dinner ready and plated up at the kitchen island.
He was becoming quite the proficient cook, always looking up new fun recipes to try out. Not to mention Tabby had more vegetables in her diet in the last new months than her whole adulthood combined.
“Thank you.” She smiled, sitting down to eat. This was a mix of multicolored peppers and onions seasoned over rice, the kitchen full of its pleasant aroma.
Sun eagerly watched her take the first bite, wearing the apron Tabby had ordered him as a joke.
“Is it good?” He asked, head tilting hopefully.
She swallowed, nodding, “It’s really good! I don’t normally like peppers, but this is good.”
“Swell!” Sun smiled, gushing, “I found a recipe for a Cajun spice mix online and wanted to try it.” He waved his hand as he explained.
Seeing her fully tuck into her meal, satisfied, he started washing up the dishes. He hummed softly to himself as he did so.
“Hey Sunny?” Tabby looked up from her plate.
“Yes Star?” He chimed back.
“Why is it you sometimes use ‘I’ when talking, but then other times you use ‘we’?” She asked.
“Oh….” Sun turned from the sink, drying off his hands almost nervously.
Tabby set her fork down now, seeing his carefree mood evaporate.
“I only use “we” when I’m certain of Moon’s feelings on a matter.” Sun explained, “I don’t speak for him unless directly asked to do so.”
“But isn’t he always…aware?” She searched for the right word.
“No.” Sun shook his head, “He doesn’t pay attention all the time, sometimes going into rest mode or doing background processes while not active. I can even block him out completely if I concentrate hard enough.” Sun went on, “But we try to not do that anymore…it’s rather rude.”
“Anymore?” Tabby questioned, a worry lilting her voice.
“Oh well…hm.” Sun became twitchy, fiddling his hands together, “I had to…repress…him often, after the virus infected his side of our software.” His rays withdrew, looking away, “And when he got control he gave me the same treatment…”
Tabby nodded solemnly, food forgotten.
“We were designed to always communicate, different perspectives to best solve issues.” Sun brought his hands together to symbolize both halves joining, “And now we can be whole again. We were never meant to be alone.”
“Is that why you were more high strung at the plex?” She asked gently, adding quickly, “No offense.”
“Little taken…” he frowned, but answered, “It did contribute to the issues.” He sat down beside her, quiet for a moment.
Tabby reached out, softly placing a hand on his thigh for comfort.
His faceplate tilted towards the contact, sighing. “I had to do well…had to perform at a level I was never meant to, alone.” His voice was soft and distant, “After the incident with Moon they threatened to disassemble us. Things changed quickly and it was suddenly all on my shoulders to keep us alive.”
“Lights stayed on, I was the caretaker of the entire area. Staff feared us…left us without regular maintenance…”
“I think…I think they were just waiting for us to burn up. Waiting for the moment we broke. When we stopped being useful…”
His voice wavered the more he spoke, words rambling together,
“They stripped us of so much that made us whole, made us unique. They left us alone, to wear down.”
“Sometimes we still feel the need to go back, some echo of our directive…but they would just tear us down for parts or even just let us rot in storage at a different facility…”
A sound like a sob left his voice-box, smile strained and false. Tabby stood, rounding the kitchen island to comfort him.
Tabby held him, resting her cheek on his shoulder. He lay his faceplate on the top of her head, rocking a bit as he hugged her. It felt bittersweet, to finally say everything aloud, to finally spill the fear and resentment that festered deep inside them.
His breath was static-y, wavering out as he collected himself. He pulled back enough to look weakly at her, smile still fake.
“Your food is getting cold.” He informed softly.
“That’s ok.” She took his faceplate, watching him close his optics and melt into the contact, “Sit with me?”
He gave a small nod, taking a seat beside her as she sat back down to finish her dinner.
After dinner they cuddled closely, Sun still clingy and sensitive. Their closeness quickly evolved into something else: fingers exploring over the other.
“Sun!” She giggled as he pulled down her leggings, the animatronic giving her an innocent look back.
She kissed his faceplate, stepping out of her clothes as his hands raked over her ass and thighs.
The newly bought toy was in the forefront of his mind, having washed it earlier that same day. She could tell he was overly eager, excited about something as he eased in two fingers.
He was careful to stretch her, making scissoring motions to ready her as much as he could until she was a hiccuping mess.
Proud of himself, he scooped her up, toting her off to the bedroom.
“S-Sun?” She asked, holding onto him.
“Don’t worry yourself, I have something fun planned!” He smiled widely, not easing her worry in the slightest.
Her eyes caught the toy on the bedside table as he lay her down on the bed, face heating up.
Sun retrieved it, turning it over in his hands and he walked to the foot of the bed. Tabby watched his every movement, gulping as he looked over her.
Taking her by the ankle he pulled her down the bed.
“Wait, wait!” She blurted out, making him pause. Blushing she asked quickly, “Did you wash and sanitize that? You have to before using them.”
Sun’s optics was half lidded, leaning down to press a makeshift kiss to her ankle. “Done and done.” He cooed.
She swallowed, trying to give a little nod.
Sun attempted to work her up again, his excitement getting the better of him quickly, however.
Thinking she had to be ready enough, he sat back on his heels to line up the toy with her pussy. Attempting to press the bulbous head down into her opening he was met with resistance, the toy sliding up and crossing her clit. Tabby hissed, Sun trying again with minimal success.
“Tight fit, isn’t it.” Sun grumbled, smile faltering.
“I told you!” She yelped as he pulled her closer.
He gave a little huff in frustration, pushing a bit more forcefully. The head popped inside that tight ring of muscle making her cry out.
“Theeeere we go!” His smile returned, looking up at her proudly.
“Shit!” She cursed, thighs trying to close if not for Sun’s free hand keeping her fully open for him.
“Color?” He asked.
Tabby panted for a moment, smoothing back her bangs, “Y-Yellow.”
Sun didn’t move, giving her a moment to adjust. His free hand rubbed little circles into the meat of her thigh with his thumb, patiently.
“Green.”
“That’s it.” Sun’s voice was low and soothing, praising her for every inch of the toy she managed to take.
Finally she’d taken it all.
Tabby gulped in a breath, walls burning. Sun allowed her a moment to adjust, smiling, “Look at you. I knew you could take it!”
“Shut up.” She huffed, face red. There was no hint of a bite to her words, making Sun chuckle.
Tabby gave a little sound, signaling he could move again.
As he pulled the toy out his optics noticed something: the wetness coating the toy was tinged pink. His movement halted instantly, causing Tabby to sit up a bit in confusion. Her gaze followed his own, swallowing to sober herself a bit.
“Are you ok?!” Sun finally caught himself, worry spiking through him as his faceplate snapped up. His hand was frozen, unsure what to do.
“I’m fine.” She answered, keeping her voice low in an attempt to alleviate his tension.
“Is that blood?!” He asked, already picking up trace amounts through his scanner.
“Sun it’s ok!” Tabby insisted, “It’s normal. I told you it’s been a long time, it happens.”
“It’s normal?” He didn’t sound convinced, “Are you sure you’re not hurt? I can stop!”
“It’ll just take some getting used too.” She soothed, sitting back against the pillows again.
“Okay…” he frowned, worry still pooling in his milky gaze, “Promise you’ll tell me if it hurts?”
“I promise.” She nodded, voice tinged ever so slightly with desperation, “Now, please, do something!”
He nodded back, optics flicking back down to where the toy lay half inside her, carefully pushing it back in to the hilt. He listened to her breathe hitch, free hand moving to her stomach. He pressed down softly as he worked the toy back and forth, marveling at the fact he could feel the bump it created.
The added pressure inadvertently made Tabby arch, mewling out. Sun perked up, falling more comfortably into a steady rhythm.
“So good for me!” He praised, free hand moving to rub quick circles on her swollen clit, adding ardently, “Always such a good girl for me.”
“Ah-Fuck!” She cried, back arching under his relentless hands, “Sunny!”
“That’s it!” He cooed, working her through the orgasm, feeling how she tightened through the toy. His rays spun, the silicone cock holding fast in her flesh.
Waiting for her high to end, he carefully pulled out the toy, laying it to the side. Sun crawled up the bed to cuddle her, listening to her body’s little quakes of aftershocks.
“I wish I could feel what you do.” Sun mused, laying down next to her.
“What?”
Rolling on his side he murmured, “You always look so happy when you finish.” His hand came up, fingers drawing shapes into her skin.
Tabby processed his words, looking up at the ceiling. Closing her eyes she drifted a bit, lost in thought.
“Wait!” Tabby sat bolt upright suddenly, making Sun almost fall off the bed in surprise.
“W-What?” He asked, optics wide.
“I think I know a way!” She announced, jumping out of the bed. Sun followed her curiously as she went to her office, legs still unsteady.
No time for clothes, she pulled out her laptop triumphantly, needed cords still attached.
“A way to what, starlight?” Sun asked, head tilted.
“Simulate an orgasm.” She smiled back, holding up the laptop, “I just need to tap into your processors.”
His fans kicked up, almost looking bashful now, “Really?”
“Only one way to find out!” Tabby smiled, returning to the bedroom. She placed the laptop near the head of the bed, booting it up. As it went through the motions of powering on her glanced at the discarded toy, taking it in her hands.
She looked from the toy to Sun, gears turning in her head.
Beckoning him closer she steadied his hips with her free hand. Sun watched curiously as she pressed the suction cup to the smooth metal of his pelvis. It stuck fast.
“Oh my god.” She snorted, “That’s actually really funny.”
She turned back to the laptop, curiosity sated. As she typed away, deep in thought, Sun gave the phallus an experimental tug. Finding it quite secure he swayed back and forth, watching it as it swung along with his movement.
“Sun?” Tabby spoke, not looking up from her laptop. Fully engrossed in what he was doing, he didn’t answer.
Tabby glanced up. Raising her voice this time, she snapped, “Sun!”
“Huh?” He paused, mid sway, looking up quickly.
“Come here.” She instructed, making room for him on the bed.
Titling his head, he padded over, sitting next to her. Tabby carefully hooked some wires into the back of his faceplate, moving to unscrew the buttons that held his chest plate together.
“What are you doing, Starlight?” His head tilted the opposite direction.
“Going to try to make you feel good, I told you.” She smiled up at him, plugging in the last wire into a port.
“You don’t have to do that. It’s our job to take care of you.” His voice was soft.
“I want to.” She soothed, asking, “Can you lay down for me?”
Sun carefully moved to lay down on the bed, Tabby moving the laptop to sit beside him.
“Are you comfortable?” She asked, kneeling beside him.
“Yes.” He nodded a bit, unknowingly taking the more rigid position he would have when in parts and service.
“Good!” She smiled, moving closer to his face, “Now let’s play red light green light again, okay?”
“Ok!” He nodded, excited.
“Let’s start small.” She went back to the computer, going into his processors, “I’m going to do a low grade pulse through your system of touch, ok?”
“Mhm.” He lay back.
Typing up a bit, she hit enter.
A shiver ran through his body with the new
sensation.
“Green light.”
Tabby upped the input, causing a tremor to jolt his body. “Where are we at with this compared to normal feeling?” She asked, turning towards him.
His optics dilated, searching for words for a moment. “It’s more.” He finally spoke, voice breathy, “More than normal.”
“Feel good?” She smiled.
“Very good.” He nodded.
“Let’s give you some more.” She upped it again. This time he began to writhe ever so slightly, limbs seemingly moving on their own with the stimulation. She watched his hands clench and unclench, jaw tight.
“Sunny?”
“Green light.” He managed, optics closing.
While he was distracted, Tabby carefully swung her leg over him, sitting gingerly on his pelvis just above where the toy was still stuck.
Feeling her weight on him, his hands instantly went to her waist. He kept a firm hold on her in an effort to ground himself.
“Good boy.” She cooed, lifting her hips just enough to line the toy up with her still wet cunt. The slide was easy, their hips meeting in moments.
Sun managed to look up, optics showing hearts as he watched her bounce a bit on the toy, mind swimming with fantasies. It made him heat up further, fingers digging into her skin.
“Is it good?” She asked breathily, smiling at his eager nods. Leaning forward she urged, “Tell me?”
“It’s good!” His voice was strained, nodding furiously, “It’s so good!”
“Want more?” She asked, her own hips moving a bit faster.
He bucked a bit to meet her, begging now.
“Please! Please! Please, Starlight!” Sun bit the silicone of his lip.
She leaned forward, toy almost slipping out as she upped the input another level.
His systems surged.
Optics filled with light as every processor sang with feeling. Any little pleasures he’d ever had from mundane things: the softness of fabric, the fur of an animal, the cold of ice, or the taste of food; all paling in the pleasure that threatened to fry his circuits in this moment.
This is what humans felt?
This is what euphoria felt like?
Euphoria: noun: a feeling or state of intense excitement and happiness.
His mind raced, the pleasure threatening pain. Biting at his operating system in quick succession. He felt everything, glitching as his limbs twitched with the built energy. It was ecstasy.
POP
Sun went limp, optics black with a small snapping sound as all his systems blue screened.
Tabby halted, worry spiking through her. She rushed to unplug him from the laptop.
As Sun’s systems came back online a shaking sound left his voice-box. His optics blinked back to life, hands instantly shifting to Tabby’s thighs for grounding.
“You ok, big guy?” She asked.
“H-“ Sun breathed, “Holy moly!”
Tabby started giggling, “It must have been good to get a whole ‘holy moly’ out of you!?”
“Better than anything!”
Sun tried to right himself, some processes slower to get fully going. He gave her a big lopsided smile, excitement in his milky eyes, Let’s do it again!”
“Later, okay?” Tabby gave him a gentle smile, “I don’t want you to fry your circuits…”
His optics made hearts, large hands moving up her sides to cup her face. Tabby leaned into the contact, still flushed from earlier activities. “Will you marry me?!” Sun asked sweetly, not an ounce of jesting in his tone.
“Sun.” Tabby snickered, “We aren't even boyfriend and girlfriend yet.” She pointed out.
Not missing a beat, Sun then asked instead, “Will you be my girlfriend?”
She sobered a bit, gazing down at him with warmth. “I will.” She nodded, accepting softly.
Sun’s rays spun happily.
A stretch of silence grew between them as they caught their breath fully and cooled down. Tabby unsuctioned the toy from him, tossing it aside to wash later. She lay beside him, listening to his fans trying like mad to cool him down.
“Sunshine?” Sun spoke, voice wistful.
“Hm?”
He tilted his head towards her, asking “Marry me?”
“Sun!”
~
Having a rare late shift, Tabby pushed open the door to be met with a dimly lit apartment. The stove light paired with her RGB backlights to her entertainment system gave enough light to navigate and do certain tasks.
Hanging her bag up, Tabby called out, “Hey Moon, I’m home!”
A shuffling sound made her look towards the couch, Moon on all fours behind it, gazing back at her with red optics.
She gave him a little wave before going into the kitchen for a soda. Popping the tab she tilted back her head to take a sip, nearly chocking when her eyes caught something: there was a thick swirling pattern, seemingly drawn onto the wall, near the doorway leading to the hall.
“Hey!?” She sputtered, wiping away split soda with the back of her hand.
Moon peaked out at her outburst, head tilted.
“What did I tell you about drawing on the walls?!” Tabby scolded, storming over to the decorated wall. Her tone was sharp, like one used to reprimand a child.
Moon was still for a moment, having crawled out from hiding to stand, frown darkening his face. He listened, teeth poking out as she ranted on about security deposits and magic erasers.
Without a word he stalked closer, hunched crookedly forward to be face level with her.
Tabby gulped, words dying on her tongue.
Moon stared at her for a moment, red optics narrow.
He raised a hand, Tabby flinching a bit on instinct. Her eyes closed tightly, steeling herself for what? She didn’t truly know.
The sound of ripping paper sliced through the apartment, Tabby blinking in bewilderment, head snapping towards the sound.
Moon had unceremoniously ripped away the paper he had earlier taped up, revealing the unmarked wall underneath at the expense of his art.
“…oh…” Tabby wilted, seeing now everything had been carefully cut out from paper in reality. She looked back to Moon, guilt coming off her in waves.
His face was still tight, frown burned into his faceplate. He crumpled up the held paper, dropping the ball to the floor wordless.
“M-Moon I-“ she started to stutter out an apology as Moon turned on his heels.
She followed him out onto the balcony, stopping as he swung over onto the fire escape, regretfully watching him disappear onto the roof.
Tabby pulled her coat tighter around from the chill of the night air, stomach in knots.

A Side-By-Side Analysis
It was a fantastic opportunity.
On paper.
Circumstances yet to be determined during a test of a ‘Mysteron communicator’ inspired by the thrice cursed ‘Moon Base Console’, and powered by more conventional means, had somehow created a rent in the fabric of spacetime and had drawn through four Spectrum agents from a different universe into their little part the multiverse.
While the Research and Development team frantically tried to figure out what exactly had occurred, and how to reverse it, with Captains Ochre and Magenta in attendance – Magenta to oversee the work, and Ochre to ensure there was no ‘unauthorised external collaboration’.
In the meantime, the four displaced operatives had been brought to Cloudbase, both for the security it afforded them, and for the opportunities to compare intelligence, in the hope of both sides gleaning new insights and methods of dealing with the Mysterons.
The Scarlets and Blues had paired up, and were by all accounts getting along like a house on fire. The Captain Blues had managed to wrangle permission to go groundside and do some comparison testing of the vehicles. The Scarlets had tagged along, and wound up in the groundside base’s pub, drinking and commiserating with each other on the intricacies of Mysteronisation. The alternative Destiny Angel had been pounced upon by the full complement of Angels, and along with much gossip, a full assessment and comparison of the aircraft was quickly produced.
These arrangements had quickly produced good intel for both sides, with a lot of technical details and insight traded.
It was the fourth member of the visitors that was causing problems.
“Incredible, simply incredible, that such a primitive thing can be used to detect Mysterons!”
Fawn gritted his teeth as ‘Dr Gold’, his alternate universe counterpart – thankfully not his alternate self – brandished a set of x-rays, showing the effects of Mysterionisation. X-Rays may not be the most common diagnostic tool these days, but – and thank God he had – Dr Fawn had taken complete x-rays of all senior staff when they finished Spectrum training.
And now Gold was getting fingerprints all over the irreplaceable x-ray films of pre-Mysteron Scarlet’s skull.
All of which Fawn could possibly have overlooked if only the man had any useful information to reciprocate.
“There are tell-tale genetic markers that can be detected in a simple blood test.”
What markers?
“They are flagged by the computer analysis.”
What blood test?
“It is automatic, the computer runs it.”
Every question. Every possible angle that Fawn could think of to come at the technical details was met with the same answer.
The computer.
The friggin’ computer.
Fawn wasn’t a particularly religious man, but he was putting out a fervent prayer to any god that had a passing interest in the physical health of the residents of that particular branch of the multiverse. They certainly needed all they help they could get. He wouldn’t trust the other man to apply a bandaid.
The computer probably did it for him.
Adding to Fawn’s frustration was the fact the man couldn’t describe how the machinery he used operated, either.
From the information the other three visitors had offered up, the basis of their technology was vasty different to what was found in this universe. Their descriptions of the capabilities of the scanners and data processors was so tantalising that Lieutenant Green and Captain Magenta were in danger of flooding their respective surroundings out, so much were they drooling at the thought.
Fawn wasn’t much better himself, after some of his more frustrating interactions with his counterpart, he found himself surreptitiously reading the other’s reports and daydreaming of what he could do with such computing power.
After all, he was a very highly qualified roboticist and programmer, as well as a medical doctor, even if his current colleagues tended to forget that.
Fawn sighed. It looked like he was going to have to become a geneticist, as well. That would necessitate him going back to school, hitting the books so he could come back to the lab and recreate if possible – the alternate universe’s results.
Then again, there was no practical reason why he shouldn’t be able to, after all, the alternate Scarlet showed the same imperviousness to x-rays as this universe’s Scarlet, while his colleagues did not. It appeared that the Mysteron’s powers and processes remained constant across time and space.
There was a discreet chime from the intercom, and a flashing green light indicated that Lieutenant Green in the Control Room was making contact. Fawn hit the ‘accept’ button with more force than strictly necessary.
“Colonel White’s apologies, Doctor Fawn,” the young Trinidinese man said. “But there is a briefing on the progress of the R&D team in the Conference Room in fifteen minutes. Could you and Doctor Gold please attend?”
Fawn sighed again, and assured the Lieutenant that they would be there.
Fawn gathered up his notes – such as they were – and divested himself of his lab-coat, before pointedly reclaiming his x-rays – once again glaring at the obscuring fingerprints, and leading Doctor Gold out of sickbay.
They were the last to arrive, and Fawn was greeted with doubletakes from his colleagues, and amused sympathy from the visitors. He grit his teeth further, apparently his frustration was more obvious than he would have liked.
Gold took his place on the ‘visitors’ side of the conference table, and Fawn gladly slid into a seat on the ‘home team’s side, as Grey had cheerfully designated it. Away from Gold.
Though not nearly far enough.
The news that Ochre and Magenta were going to be present was a surprise, but a pleasant one. Hopefully this meant they had good news on the progress of the research team working to return the visitors to their rightful home.
As White took his seat in the centre of the conference table, Lieutenant Green called from the Control Room to announce the arrival of Ochre and Magenta’s SPJ.
Five minutes later, the pair entered the room, Fawn’s eyes narrowing in assessing irritation as he watched Ochre guiding Magenta who was blinking and stumbling like a man newly awakened from an exhausted sleep.
Which proved to be the case, as White invited them to report first – undoubtedly knowing that the everyone was eager to hear what progress had been made on returning the visitors to their rightful home.
And the news they brought was good – Magenta had brought the lead researcher’s full briefing paper, but he managed to provide a summary that was understood by his audience, the main point of which was that they had managed to calculate what had gone wrong previously, and managed to calculate the calibrations for a return journey.
The news was well received, especially with the addition of the advice that the apparatus was even now being charged up for use. It was anticipated that there would be a 48 hour wait before the equipment would be sufficiently charged to return the four to their home universe.
The briefing then went around the table, the Scarlets and Blues reporting on the differences in the tactics and strategies used in the respective universes. Which, it seemed, was substantial – although largely explained due to the differences in the different cultures and technologies they operated it. Fawn rolled his eyes at the lively interest that the revelation of the high-atmospheric adaptions to the visitor’s uniforms, and outright glared when the subject of the ‘Stallion Raid Bike’ came up – evidently an ‘attack motorcycle’ with a limited gliding attachment allowing it to deploy from ‘Skybase’. He was mentally calculating the extent of injuries liable to be sustained when he met White’s gaze. The CIC coughed nervously, and moved the conversation along.
The Angels went next, all decrying ‘male patronisation’, before moving on to a final critique of the strengths and weaknesses of the different aircraft, the Blues also having weighed in. Nobody missed noticing Ochre sliding the sketches of the alternate-Angel Fighter over and losing himself in the listed specifications.
Then it was time for the medical report. Gold jumped in, talking over Fawn’s attempted preamble, and expressing – once again – his disbelief at the “simplicity” of the x-ray test. Fawn noticed Gold’s three companions all perk up at this information.
“X-Rays,” the alternate Scarlet said thoughtfully. “It would be a lot easier to set up a systematic mass-testing situation.”
“A lot of people act up at DNA testing, even within Spectrum,” alternate-Destiny agreed, “never mind civilians. The X-Ray test would be easy to conduct at, say, a concert or convention. It would be minimally invasive and inobtrusive, if you included it with metal-detector station.”
“Have you been able to make a portable test?” Blue asked.
In answer, Captain Grey went to a cupboard in the wall, and pulled out a Mysteron Detector, after a questioning glance at Colonel White, and receiving a nod in response, he turned to the Scarlets, “May I?”
The alternate agreed enthusiastically, while the ‘proper’ Scarlet was less eager, but amenable. Narrating his actions, and allowing the visiting Blue and Destiny to watch, he quickly snapped images of both Scarlets, pulling the developed images – showing the positive ‘photograph’ of the faces.
He then turned the detector on the Blues, allowing the alternate Scarlet to watch the operation of the device as he produced two negative ‘x-ray’ images of the Blues’ skulls.
“How was the miniaturisation achieved?” asked Scarlet, turning the device over in his hands, testing the weight of the object. Fawn pulled a slim folder from his bundle of notes, and slid it across the table to him. The alternate Blue picked it up, and opened it. His eyes widened.
“The blueprints?” he asked incredulously.
Fawn shrugged. “No point making you start at the beginning,” he said. “Though I don’t doubt that the technology your universe uses could produce a smaller, more discreet unit.”
The alternate Destiny glanced at the blueprints, before turning to Fawn. “Did you design this?”
Fawn shook his head. “R&D did. I’ve just been trying to produce a package that is not obviously the Mysteron Detector for production and dispersal in Paramedic and Rescue and Relief equipment.” A glance at White. “Could you imagine the benefit of this set up in emergency responses, or mass casualty events?
White frowned. “I look forward to receiving your proposal on this matter, Doctor,” he eventually said, taking note of the thoughtful looks everyone else was giving the innocuous-looking instrument now sitting on the desk.
It was Meldoy Angel who got the conversation back on track. “So if you didn’t know about the x-ray test, how do you detect Mysteron agents?”
All eyes turned back to Gold. He shrugged. “There is a blood test.”
There was a pause as everyone waited for him to elaborate. Eyes turned back to Fawn, whose lips thinned. “The computer does it,” he said wryly, and had the satisfaction of watching Gold’s colleagues all roll their eyes and look at the other doctor in frustration.
White looked at Gold in dismay. “You cannot provide details?”
Gold shrugged. “I have no need to have everything memorised. The analysis is completed automatically. During the routine testing after Scarlet’s Mystronisation, the difference in the DNA was flagged, and subsequent analysis of Mysteron agents showed it held true. There is no need for the details to be memorised. Being stranded in a technologically-primitive alternative universe was not something that could be reasonably expected.”
The alternate Destiny glared at the man from across the table. “Doctor Gold,” she hissed. “I expect you to apologise to everyone here for your rudeness.”
As Gold started to bristle at her reprimand, White quickly adjoined the meeting before it could devolve into an all-out argument.
As Fawn started ‘escorting’ Magenta off towards his quarters, to make sure he didn’t sneak off to the Room of Sleep, he was approached by the alternate Scarlet and Destiny. Behind them, the alternate Blue was practically frog-marching Gold off towards the quarters allocated to the visitors.
Scarlet offered Fawn a folder filled with handwritten papers. He smiled sheepishly, “I, uh, was sort of expecting Gold not to be able to offer you anything useful.” He rubbed his neck, awkwardly, “I made a point of learning everything I could about how I was different now. This is everything I could remember. Not sure I ever understood it properly, but it might be a start for you.”
Fawn gratefully accepted the notes and leafed through them, scanning the bullet points. Key phrases jumped out at him, it was disjointed, and full of question marks in parenthesis and misspellings.
He smiled up at the man. “I wish our Scarlet was interested in understanding more about his condition,” he commented.
Magenta snorted. “Why would he need to; he’s got you, hasn’t he?” He gestured at the alternate, “From what I’ve seen, he’s got to sort things out for himself.”
The alternate Scarlet grinned. “He has mentioned that you are particularly … dedicated … to figuring the situation out.” And he gestured towards the Medbay. “And he might be waiting in the Sickbay for you to be able to draw bloods to start work on verifying the genetic markers hold true.”
Magenta laughed at Fawn’s astonished reaction. “How did you get Scarlet to voluntarily enter Sickbay? That never happens!”
Destiny shrugged, “How well do you think you would hold up after being trapped with Gold for a week?”
Scarlet nudged Fawn, “Better get going, before he changes his mind.”
Fawn was nearly running as he moved down the corridor, clutching the folder to his chest as he started considering possibilities.
Notes:
Inspired by @myladykayo's fantastic art of Doctor’s Fawn and Gold working together in Original Series’ Sickbay. Look at it! Go on, it’s here! I hope I've done it justice.
The standard disclaimers, I do not own Captain Scarlet, either the Original or CGI Series. (Although I do own copies on DVD.)
I do not do this for money, but for my own (in)sanity and entertainment.

Diagnostic X-Ray Imaging Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) Diagnostic X-Ray Imaging Quality Assurance (QA): It is a program used by the caregiver management to retain the best possible diagnostic image quality with the least risk and suffering to patients. Included under the program are quality control tests at regular intervals, measures for preventive maintenance, administrative procedures and training. Besides, it also includes continuous evaluation of the competence of the imaging service and the way to start remedial action. The main objective of a radiology quality assurance program is to guarantee the continual provision of quick and precise diagnosis of patient. This objective will be effectively fulfilled by having in place a QA program having three secondary goals as follows: (i) diagnostic imaging quality maintenance (ii) minimize the radiation exposure to patient and staff; and (iii) cost effectiveness. (Health Canada, 2006) Diagnostic X-Ray Imaging Quality Control (QC): Under this program, sequences of standardised tests are conducted to find out modifications or alterations in X-ray equipment functionality from its original level of performance. The purpose of such tests when carried out on a routine basis permits immediate remedial action to retain the quality of X-ray image. However, it is essential to bear in mind that the doctor in charge of the X-ray facility bears the final responsibility for quality control and not with the regulatory body. (Health Canada, 2006) total diagnostic X-ray Imaging QA consists of six different constituents. These comprise of radiation exposure monitoring, radiographic unit monitoring, sensitometry and darkroom monitoring, the application of technique charts, the evaluation of repeat rates and continuing education. Radiation Exposure Monitoring: For safety measures all radiology departments must apply a system for monitoring the cumulative occupational exposure to employees working with ionizing radiation. Every employee must be provided with thermoluminescent dosimeters or film badges must be given to all employees and monthly dosages posted on a bulletin board. This apart, a lot of departments also scrutinize patient exposure to radiation by simple methods as a patient advisement device as well as a legal precaution. For instance, the total fluoroscopy exposure time collected at the time of a fluoroscopic procedure can be obtained from the fluoro times and recorded on patient database. The number of overhead exposures obtained for each method can even be recorded on the patient database. (Carrol, n. d.) Radiographic Unit Monitoring: Majority of the quality control and basic measurement checks for radiographic apparatus can be done by the radiographer. The value of this type of evaluation is demonstrated by the reality that the radiation output per milliampere has been observed to differ by 50% from one unit to the subsequent within a radiology department and to the extent of 100% between units in different radiology departments. Besides, it is suggested that each of the equipment inside a department is meticulously inspected by a radiation physicist once every six months at the minimum. (Carrol, n. d.) Sensitometery and darkroom Monitoring: Majority of these functions are possible and must be carried out by the professional radiographer with intermittent backup from processor experts. In situations when no quality control program is present, processing mistakes and conditions are responsible for more than 35% of every repeats. Hence every quality control programs much start with the processor. (Carrol, n. d.) Use of technique charts: Repeat rates of radiology departments are reduced by as much as 25% when a systematic approach to the development of techniques is applied. It is seen that 73% of all the repeats are caused due to radiographs emerging as either very light of very dark. Some of this problem is because of darkroom and processing variables; and the remaining is due to inappropriate choice of methods. At the time when technique charts are applied on concert with processing sensitometry, repeats can be reduced to 50%. (Carrol, n. d.) Analysis of repeat rates: Implementing any other feature of a quality control program in the absence of repeat analysis bear scanty meaning. The maximum value of repeat analysis remains in the finding out of continuing education requirements in case of the imaging personnel. While dealing with those requirements by delivering in-service education, repeat rates are able to be lowered as also patient exposure. Hence education remains an integral constituent in any quality control endeavour, however the exclusive educational requirements of the personnel must be found out in case it has to be effective. (Carrol, n. d.) Continuing Education: At the time when the technological variables are evaluated and controlled, the highest aspect finding out radiographic consistency and the quality happens to be the expertise of the radiographer. The sphere of radiography is progressing in such a rapid manner with latest image receptor systems, computerization, and various new sub-specialities in imaging methods for which sustained learning must be an issue of survival as also professionalism. (Carrol, n. d.) Repeat Analysis: It has been observed that one out of every ten radiographs have to be retaken. A lot of radiology departments have been fruitful in lowering their repeat rates down to 5-7% through total quality control program. A lot of variations are possible for repeat analysis program. In cases where there are no QC program, majority of the repeats are due to substandard technical quality of the radiograph, however in cases where a QC program is applied, 41% of all repeats are caused by positioning defects. Hence in these situations, the burden of the errors cannot be placed on electrical line surges, unpredictable processors and the technician of the darkroom. The two largely efficient methods of categorising repeat rates happen to be (i) by type of cause like positioning defects vs. technical defects and (ii) by the type of procedure, like head procedures vs. spine procedures. In case of radiographic quality control, the total number of repeats after deducting the number of green and blank films must be divided by the sum of the repeats and the good films made use for the period. (Carrol, n. d.) Timer Quality Control in Radiographic Equipment: Modern day exposure timers are able to gauge a single pulse of electricity as short as 1/120 second in duration. Wrong exposure times can be can result in erratic methodology and a loss of control over the density of image. For accuracy, it is recommended that a workable range of accuracy for regular timers will be positive or minus 5%. (Carrol, n. d.) Collimator Quality Control: In cases where the real size of the X-ray field is higher compared to that stated on the collimator control knobs, needless exposure of patients and more scatter fogging of the radiograph happens. At the time when the real field size is less compared to that stated, the anatomy of interest might be deducted from the field of view, needing repeat exposures. It is important for the radiographer, thus that the size of the field control knobs on the collimator as well as the projected visual light field correctly show the size and location of the real x-ray beam. (Carrol, n. d.) Vertical Beam Alignment Quality Control: Sometimes, a light field that seems to be off-centered to the x-ray table transversely actually is off-centered however mis-angled. There is a possibility of this happening when the transverse tube angle lock has been used by a radiographer who failed to accord special care to put it to a precise vertical position following use. (Carrol, n. d.) Two disciplines of activity have been designed to guarantee that the best possible diagnosis at an acceptable radiation dose and with the least cost. These disciplines are Quality Assurance -- QA and Quality Control -- QC. While it is important to note that QA deals with people, QC deals with devices and equipment. A QA program evaluates appropriate patient scheduling, reception and preparation. Besides, QA even entails interpretation of image as regards outcome analysis. On the other hand, QC is more tangible and apparent compared to the QA. A program of QC is devised to guarantee that the radiologist is provided with an optimal image that outcomes from a good equipment performance. QC starts with the X-ray device made use of to produce the image and persists with the regular evaluation of the image-processing facilities. QC ends up with a committed analysis of every image to locate the deficiencies and artifacts and to make the least use of reexamination. The type of QC program is determined largely by the features of the image produced. Normally, the QC program concentrates on the potency of the image to guarantee that those strengths are sustained. Maybe the most vital patient safeguard characteristic in case of a radiographic unit happens to be filtration of its X-ray beam. State laws need that general purpose radiographic units have a minimum total filtration of 2.5mm A1. (Bushong, n. d.) Collimation: The X-ray field should coincide with the light field of the variable-aperture light-localizing collimator. In case these fields are not aligned in the proper manner, the proposed anatomy will be missed and the unplanned anatomy removed. Sufficient collimation can be found out with the help of any number of test tools devised for the purpose. It is observed that majority of the beams have in them positive beam limiting collimators -- PBL. The distinguishing features of these devices are that these are automatic collimators which gauge the proportion of the image receptor and make adjustment of the collimating shutters to that size. (Bushong, n. d.) Focal-spot size: The spatial resolution of radiographic system is basically found out by calculating the focal-spot size of the x-ray tube. At the time when new equipment or a replacement x-ray tube is deployed, the focal-spot size should compulsorily be measured. The three most important tools which are used for calibration of focal-spot size are the pinhole camera, the star pattern and the slit camera. While the pinhole camera poses difficulty in use and needs a great exposure time, the star pattern is simple to use but has a great deal of limitations for focal-spot sizes less than 0.3 mm. The preciseness of the exposure timer must be evaluated every year or in fewer intervals in case a component of the operating console or the high-voltage generator has been put under major repairs. A preciseness of 20% both on the positive or negative side is acceptable for exposure time of 10 ms or lower. Subsequently Automatic Exposure Control -- AEC needs also to be evaluated. These instruments have been designed to give a fixed optical density irrespective of the thickness of the tissue, make-up, or the lack of success of the reciprocity law. (Bushong, n. d.) Fluoroscopy Quality Control: Fluoroscopic tests can outcome in high patient dose. The entrance skin exposure -- ESE in case of an adult shows an average of 3 to 5 R/min or 30 to 50 mGy/min at the time when the fluoroscopy is being conducted and it can outcome in a skin dose of 10 rad or 100 mGy in case of a lot of fluoroscopic examinations. Fairly accurate doses are to be administered to patients which can be guaranteed through the performance of suitable QC measurements. Some of the measurements might be needed more on a regular basis following changes in the operating console, high voltage generator or the x-ray tubing. (Bushong, n. d.) Automatic Exposure Systems: Every fluoroscope is built-in with some type of automatic brightness control -- ABC or Automatic Exposure Control -- AEC. Every system works similar to the photo-timer of a radiographic imager generating regular image brightness on the video monitor irrespective of the thickness or constitution of the anatomy. Since these systems are prone to damage or failure with use; fluoroscopic ABC must be examined every year. (Bushong, n. d.) Tomography Quality Control: Apart from the evaluations conducted in the tenure of a QC of a radiographic system, a lot of additional measurements are needed in case of those systems which are also able to perform normal tomography. However, accurate performance standards are not present in case of conventional tomography. QC measurements are devised to guarantee that the features examined stay constant. It is important that the patient exposure must be measured for the most usual type of tomographic examinations. Exhibit -I shows a sample of the results derived from a three phase system and six representative tomographic examinations. (Bushong, n. d.) Standard Quality Control -- QC tests that are undertaken with care during prescribed period of time are devised to spot gradually evolving functional X-ray and problems in the ancillary apparatus and to allow remedial action prior to major decline of image quality happens. The important cause for a QA program is undertaken in order to optimize the process of diagnosis and thus the benefits are obtained. A QA program merits the expenses that include (i) personnel costs - QA duties consists of not just the performance of QC tests but also initial education as also training (ii) Test equipment: QC test equipment cost is comparatively small as compared to total capital outlay of a radiology department (iii) reduction in patient flow from testing: It is imperative that QC tests are conducted outside the normal working hours, to the extent possible. (Parelli, n. d.) The main cost savings in case of QA program happens to be the result of a lowering in repeat studies i.e. avoidance of unwarranted radiation dose to the patient. The savings in cost also comprise (i) Reduction in film wastage (ii) reduction in the wastage of chemicals (iii) reduced wear and tear of the equipment (iv) Reduced downtime of equipment (v) less time consumption of the personnel (vi) patient flow improvement (vii) lowered cost of equipment service. It is important that each X-Ray units has a QA Manual containing the list of names and qualifications of personnel responsible for supervision of QA, performance of QC tests and troubleshooting or servicing X-Ray and its allied apparatus. Besides, QA and QC records are also needed to be maintained for X-ray equipments and allied apparatus which must include (i) performance evaluation of the X-ray machine, covering acceptance testing and surveys of radiation safety. (ii) Confirmation that the X-ray apparatus is functioning in a secured operating manner and conducting of later QC tests outcomes are done. The most important QC lies with ensuring Photographic QC. Under this are included quality of the image, contrast, density, base plus fog and also the exposure of patients. The Optical density range must be within the ideal range of 0.5 to 2.5 OD values. (Parelli, n. d.) Ensuring QC in conventional radiographic systems:- Under the conventional radiographic systems there are a lot of constituents whereby each one is subjected to variability with the passage of time. Within this system, the elements which are important are (i) kilovoltage (kVp) (ii) Milliamperage (mA) (iii) Exposure time (iv) X-ray beam filtration (v) Collimation i.e. X-ray beam restriction (vi) focal spot size (vii) Grid under which the parameters to be checked are type, uniformity and alignment. (viii) Intensifying screens (ix) Cassettes (x) Radiographic or X-ray films (xi) Darkroom conditions and (xii) photographic processors and chemicals. Any of the above components within the system holds the potential to sway or damage in such a manner so that the image quality might be degraded. Hence, to undertake all the activities in a feasible way, it is imperative to calibrate and control all of the suitable variables in the radiographic imaging chain. The correct QC tests shall be done, following the repair and replacement of any constituent of the X-ray system, before making use of the equipment in humans and whether such repair and/or replacement might impact (i) quality of image (ii) phototimer reproducibility (iii) accuracy of the exposure timer (iv) Linearity of Milliampere-seconds (v) kilovolt peak (kVp) accuracy (vii) skin entrance radiation dose (viii) Focal spot size. (Parelli, n. d.) Radiation Safety/QA Program: It is important that every facility establishes a committee of individuals to be responsible for the radiation safety/QA program including those departments that employ X-rays for diagnostic purposes. The Committee must be constituted of at least a Radiologist, the Chief technologist, the QC Technologist and also a Medical Physicist and a member of the internal X-ray service or engineering group in case of availability. The Committee shall allocate QC responsibilities in writing. Particular assignments must be recorded in the manual. The persons charged with the responsibilities shall have to be properly directed. Proof of continuing education shall be available in case of the individuals actively involved in the QC testing and evaluation process. As regards Equipment Monitoring, every facility shall prepare various tests at the duration stated, and keep records of the data. The type of experiments as also the frequency of the experiments might also be changed at the orders of the Department in case the facility is able to display recorded proof that other tests or programs will guarantee efficient diagnostic image quality. (Department of Health: New York State, 2007) Test Frequency: Every day at the time of the X-Ray generator start up and prior to conducting the x-ray, it is important the operator verifies for defects of indicator dial as also the mechanical and electric safety of the X-ray system. Defects and other risky conditions have to be remedied at the earliest. Besides, the solution temperatures and rates of exhaustion must also be verified at the time when correcting speed and contrast defects. The Half Value Layer -- HVL has also to be checked. In case of certified equipment the minimum HHVL must not fall below the figures as stated in Exhibit -II. Fluoroscopic Timers: The certified equipment shall show with a signal which is audible to the operator, the ending of a pre-determined time gap, not higher than 5 minutes. At the time of the engagement, the signal must go on until the reset button is pressed. In case of equipments that are not certified, the passage of a preset time, not higher than 5-minute should be recorded by a signal that is audible to the operator or an interruption of the fluoroscopic beam. The most important is the exposure rate measurements of the fluoroscopic apparatus which is manufactured prior to the year 1995. (Department of Health: New York State, 2007) The readings are: automatic mode: 10 R. per minute, Manual mode 5R per minute. High Level control -- HLC Mode: 5R per minute at the time of non-operation in HLC and HLC Mode: 20 R. per minute at the time of operating in HLC and not keeping the records of the image. It is important that the fluoroscopic exposure rate in automatic and/or manual mode must never be higher than 5R/min at the time of measurement with a patient equivalent phantom comprising of 1 inches of Type 1100 aluminum and 0.5 mm of copper or a similar device. The film screen contact must be state the regions of substandard contact in the center of the image receptor. It is important that the screens that have been in use for more than four years are evaluated every year for film/screen contact. For better QC, it is important that each X-ray unit is equipped with a technique chart placed in a prominent position for reference by the operators. Read the full article

Understanding the Clear Benefits of Digital X-Ray at the Centre
Tumblr media
If you have ever undergone an x-ray procedure for your body, you must be wondering how this machine works and what benefits it offer to you or the radiologist. Professional digital x-ray centre Patna uses digital radiographs, which address some drawbacks of conventional film X-rays, to stay current with changing trends. In many cases, the conventional X-ray technology wasn't completely safe for patients for diagnosis purposes. However, with digital radiography, there is less radiation exposure, which is healthy for our patients. Additionally, since a film does not need to be developed, they are environmentally friendly. Let us check some of the benefits of digital X-rays at the centre-
Quick Processing Time
When the digital X-ray center in Patna used conventional X-rays, it took a while for the photos to be ready. This is because you had to wait for the film to finish developing in a darkroom before you could see the photos. On the other hand, DDR immediately produces images that are ready for viewing. Because the doctor or radiologist can swiftly evaluate your issue and provide a diagnosis while you wait, consultations are shortened. Thus, productivity is increased for both the dentist and the patients.
Top Quality Images
Clarity and detail in X-ray imaging are crucial for accurately diagnosing and delivering the required care. The visual quality of digital X-rays is far better than that of conventional film. We can now concentrate even on minute fractures and anomalies that would have been missed on video because of this. It is important to know that digital X-ray carries specialized software that helps electronically modify images for greater definition, further contributing to the high image quality. Images can be zoomed in on for a better look, or the contrast can be changed.
No High Resources Required
Digital X-rays do not require the use of chemical developers, nor do they require film processors. The equipment is needed for digital X-rays only once and may also need occasional maintenance. The radiologist won't have to reprint the X-ray paper even if a duplicate of an image is required. Since it doesn't take much to generate a digital X-ray, labor costs for clinics also decrease.
Helps with High-Quality Care
Patients in the modern era are more concerned about the side effects of their treatments. Patients are eager to commit to their health at the best digital X-ray center in Patna since they can see that the machinery considers their welfare. Since DDR minimizes radiation exposure by more than 75%, our patients don't need to worry about it.
Easy Image Storage
The best thing about digital X-rays is probably that they help store images safely without worrying about getting lost. The photos might be kept on a secured hard drive to restrict access. Since you don't have to sort through mountains of film X-rays manually, getting back the images is also simple.
Conclusion Since you know the benefits it holds, you can consider visiting the digital x-ray center Patna to get your body scanned for diagnosis and better health.
