HAPPY BIRTHDAY HYUNG
@rkbgyu
Beomgyu had been planning his surprise for weeks and now it was finally Yeonjun’s birthday, he was excited. He had probably brought the older a bit too much but Yeonjun had been his best friend since they were children. He was the brother he never had and nothing was too much for him in Beomgyu’s eyes. He had been awake for hours preparing everything so Yeonjun would be surprised and he hoped his friend liked everything.
Outside Yeonjun’s door was a giant box with a gigantic ‘happy birthday’ balloon attached to it. Inside was a number of smaller boxes.
The first box contained some baskets. The first was a mario kart gift basket. The second was a basket full of candy and chocolate.
In the second box contained an Avengers Monopoly board game, a jar full of 365 little notes, a guitar pick, and a 'best friend’ bracelet.
The third was a large box on it’s own full of an assortment of gifts and snacks.
On top of everything were two cards. One funny and one sentimental. Inside the first card was the message:
Yeonjun hyung!
Happy birthday! You’re another year older but you’re also another year cooler.
I love you,
Beommie
P.S. I have the other bracelet already. You better wear it! -_-
Inside the second card was the message:
Hyuuung!
I’m sorry I went overboard with your gifts I just got too excited. I hope you like it all! I know I’ve been busy lately with training and we can’t meet as often but please remember that you’re my best friend and my brother and I will always make time for you! You put up with me and I can never thank you enough for that. You’ve been my friend since we were children and I can’t imagine life without you. Please don’t ever leave me and please keep being you.
I love you, Yeonjun hyung.
Beomgyu
ever since beomgyu had become a trainee, yeonjun had been seeing less and less of his best friend than he had before. and though he is happy for the other, as he knew that being a trainee was practically an amazing opportunity, he couldn’t help but miss the little one because of how beomgyu’s schedule played out. sure, yeonjun didn’t see much of him anyway because of the age difference and how yeonjun was in college while he and soobin were still in high school. but even then, he couldn’t help but feel a little more lonelier now that there was no longer a little brother to bother him (and for him to bother back).
so with that in mind, he really didn’t expect the gifts that were waiting at his doorstep. he wasn’t even aware of it until his father pointed it out and handed him a huge box with a balloon attached to it. he’s shocked, to say the least. he really didn’t expect such a big gift from someone and he feels himself smiling just from the fact that one of his friends did this for him. his smile only grows as he opens the giant box and takes out three smaller ones, all filled with individual gifts with candys and snacks, along with gifts that made him laugh (specifically the mario kart basket and the avenger’s monopoly.)
he takes the bracelet and puts it on his wrist, smiling at how it was basically a perfect fit. afterwards, he picks up the two cards that he had originally put to the side so that he could open the gifts. is yeonjun a child in a twenty-one year old body? absolutely. did he regret that? not at all. but he finally opens the cards and smiles at the front cover of the first one before opening it and reading beomgyu’s message, laughing at the additional mention about the other bracelet. matching friendship bracelets? practically all that yeonjun ever wanted from the little one.
he then opens up the next card and reads the long note, his smile fond as he reads the other’s sentimental words. had it really been that long since they’ve first become friends? he remembers when the other was still following him around and playing fun imagination games with him. now, beomgyu was prospering in trc as a trainee while yeonjun was the one looking at him with admiration and pride. a part of him wonders if yeonjun would ever be like that, too. with a crowd of people reaching for stardom once again. surrounded by people who worked hard with hopes and dreams showing through their actions.
he hopes so.
he takes out his phone to click on beomgyu’s number to give him a call. he sighs as it sends him straight to voicemail. figures. the other’s probably dancing his heart out to something. but yeonjun isn’t upset with him at that. he’s still so very happy that beomgyu did so much for his special day. the day had barely even started, but the other was already feeling good about the rest of it.
“beommie~~ thank you for the gifts!” he says into the phone with a genuine smile. “i love them a lot!! i’m so happy that you’ve done so much for me, especially since you didn’t have much time to do this probably.” a laugh leaves his lips as he says that, trying to imagine the other preparing this gift hurriedly before the 13th. “thank you for being there for me for so long. i know i’ve teased you and nagged on you a lot in the past, but that’s because i care about you a lot. you’re a precious friend and brother to me, beommie~ and i’m glad i have you!”
before he ends the phone call, he says “hyung loves you. and don’t worry! i’ll show you a picture of me and my bracelet. i’m going to keep it on with me everywhere. i promise you!”
