Have you noticed how often we are blind to old familiar things? A fresh eye and a flow of questions brings a clearer perspective, and you start improving.

In this update, we bring you a new, simpler Repeating due dialog (many thanks to @Christian for that flow of questions), a handful of bug-fixes, and a glimpse of new things we are working on.

New repeating due options

Repeating patterns are endless - from ‘clean your teeth every day’ to ‘submit tax declaration on 15.03 each year’. We tried making Checkvist options flexible and clear at the same time. Now you see the dependency between the two types of due patterns - the fixed Due and the flexible (based on the Actual completion date). The new "Re-open" options let you manage when a task you've completed reappears on your list -

WebClipper integration with Jira and YouTrack

With Checkvist WebClipper, you can organize all your browser finds—and even save all open tabs as a branch in a list. Now, our WebClipper integrates with Atlassian Jira and JetBrains YouTrack. When you save a link to an issue ticket, it's displayed in the most convenient way.

Support time-stamps in embedded YouTube videos

Did you know that when you paste a YouTube video link into Checkvist, it offers to embed the video in the list item?

Here are a couple of new features you can explore—and help us with your feedback.

Integration with Slack

If you are overwhelmed with many Slack messages that you 'Save for later', try the new Checkvist integration: every time you press 'Save for later', that Slack message appears in your 'Slack Inbox' in Checkvist. Here, you can treat it like any other task: add sub-tasks or notes, tag, or set a priority.

If you want to work with Slack messages in another list, select a new inbox list on your Profile > Tools page.

The feature is currently in Beta, and will be a part of PRO plan later.

Saved searches and bookmarks

Bookmark a cross-list search, a filter in a list, a single list item, or a branch… and navigate with keyboard shortcuts, of course. That’s what we are currently working on.

ولكن الغير معروف للجميع انه قبل ان يتم استهدافه تم اختراقه يضم مجموعة من اعلى المختبرات البحثية التي تعتبر السبب الرئيسي في تطوير التكنولوجيا العسكرية والنووية والصناعية (يستخدموه في مجالات بحثية في كل شئ تقريباً) ومنها شركات السلاح الاسرائيلية

اعلنت مجموعة حنظلة عن اختراقه ‏وعلقت المجموعة:

في عملية هجينة معقدة ومنسقة، نجحت مجموعة حنظلة في اختراق البنية التحتية الأساسية لمعهد وايزمان للعلوم، وهو مؤسسة راسخة في بنيتهم العسكرية وتطوير الاسلحة.

هذا المعهد ليس مجرد هيئة أكاديمية، بل هو عقدة محورية في اليتهم.

لقد صادرنا وثائق داخلية وأبحاثًا حساسة وبيانات سرية تكشف المدى الكامل لتواطؤه.

بيانات +4 تيرابايت تم تحميل الملفات بالكامل قبل ان يتم حذفها، معظمها ابحاث غاية في الاهمية حول الجينوم

نأتي للعملية الثانية

اختراق شركة مور لوجيستكس، وهي شركة تابعة للعديد من وكالات الأمن لنقل البضائع الحساسة تحت ستار من السرية.

وانها حصلت على (أكثر من 20 ألف مستند) بعد تحميل كافة الملفات وتحليل عينة من بعضها اتضح انها تحتوي على وثائق لنقل بضائع هامة لمؤسسات حساسة، والاخر من هيئة السكان والهجرة في إسرائيل لبعض الافراد العملية الثالثة: اختراق شركة أغورا بي سي المحدودة

وهي شركة تأسست عام ٢٠١٨ تعمل في حيفا وتوفر للشركات مجموعة من الأدوات المُخصصة (التبادل، التداول، الدفع، إدارة المحافظ) على الويب بتحليل عينة مما تم تحميله اتضح وجود بعض الوثائق التي تعكس بيئة عمل تقنية تُدار من خلال أداة YouTrack لمراقبة وإدارة المشكلات على الخوادم الخاصة بهم

ووثائق اخرى تحتوي على بيانات إحصائية تعكس عملية إدارة مشكلة تقنية أو إدارية مرتبطة بالفوترة، تم تسجيلها وحلها في النظام. العملية الرابعة: اختراق شركة سابان سيستمز

هي شركة خاصة بتوسيع البنية التحتية للمراقبة في إسرائيل.

متعاونة مع جهاز الأمن الداخلي الإسرائيلي ونشرت كاميرات مراقبة عالية الجودة بأسم "الأفق الصامت"، ليس فقط للمراقبة ، ولكن أيضًا جمع البيانات النشطة، وفهرسة الوجه، وتتبع السلوك، وقدرات اعتراض الإشارة المضمنة داخل مجموعات الكاميرات. وهنا عزيزي القارئ يمكن ان اقول اني حصلت على كنز مكون من 21.703 الف وثيقة تتضمن تفاصيل تقنية للبناء والمواصفات الهيكلية والمخططات الكهربائية التفصيلية لها، وكل شئ عن انظمة المراقبة العملية الخامسة

Досан Жакенов — не новичок в мире стартапов. Он запустил и закрыл 5 стартапов, прежде чем связал весь свой опыт воедино и создал Time Tracker — стартап, автоматизирующий кадровые процессы бизнеса. В анкете предпринимателя Досан рассказал о своих главных уроках и советах.

Я и бизнес

Мой бизнес решает проблему автоматизации кадрового дела, повышения дисциплины и продуктивности сотрудников.

В начале своего предпринимательского пути я столкнулся с ощущением, что подписался на марафон «Выгорание 24/7». Ну и, конечно, с нехваткой денег, времени и нервных клеток.

Первым сотрудником, которого я нанял в компанию, стал менеджер по продажам — важно сначала понять, нужен ли продукт, а потом уже делать его.

Сейчас компания состоит из 12 супергероев, которые ищут баги и превращают их в фичи.

Первая прибыль, которую я получил с бизнеса, составила не особо большую сумму… Но зато осознание, что продукт нужен, было бесценно! Оборот же за первый год составил 150к долларов.

Мое главное достижение в бизнесе — создание продукта, который действительно необходим рынку. Недавно пересекли отметку в 100 постоянных клиентов.

В будущем я вижу свою компанию лидером рынка решений по автоматизации учета рабочего времени в Казахстане и СНГ. С выходом на глобальный рынок, разумеется.

Мой самый большой факап в бизнесе — это то, что первые 5 моих стартапов провалились. Time Tracker — шестой.

Самый проблемный вопрос, с которым сталкивается современный предприниматель — это «что дальше?»

Мой самый большой страх как предпринимателя — что однажды сервер «ляжет» и все клиенты напишут мне в «личку» в 3 часа ночи.

Не начинайте бизнес, если вы не готовы встать на тропу войны, где не избежать поражения и побед, ненависти и восхищения, провалов и достижений.

Если вы работаете в найме, то учитесь у владельца компании, а не просто выполняйте задачи.

Лучший способ воспитать в себе предпринимателя это постоянно пробовать, проверять, любопытствовать и… когда-нибудь что-то да произойдет.

Лучшая книга о бизнесе это та книга, которую пишет каждый предприниматель ежедневно, проживая свой путь и вкладывая время.

Nebula reflection

This was a very fun project to sink my teeth into, I really liked the workflow of creating a solid foundation using Figjam as a digital whiteboard. A lot of aspects of this project I’d consider some of my best work as of now. Working in a small team was nice, having to manage only a few people, but it definitely had some downsides, given that everyone had to have more responsibilities.

The use of YouTrack was very rudimentary this semester, knowing what I know now though, It has a lot of tools and we really didn't make the most of them. I believe we can use it for so much more in the upcoming semester. 

The game is a little bit behind what I had been envisioning as the end state for this semester, but since most of the reusable mechanics are done now we will be able to build so much atop this over the coming semester. We have a lot of playtesting feedback that we never got around to implementing, but it can easily be done at the start of next semester, to ease us back into development. From there, we will need to make a proper roadmap of our development. I think we can get this game looking industry standard, the biggest hurdle I see for that is getting enough artwork done though, so I may need to lean more into the artistic side of things next semester.

I foresee this project going very well and is just as enjoyable as I hoped going into it. I'm very much looking forward to the next semester where we can really bring it all together.

Instead, our goal was to bring issues into the inner development loop in a flexible way. It was important that we not prescribe overly specific workflows. By working with our own extension API, we ensure the API has the features that extension authors need, and other repository providers can implement similar integration. Instead, we will recommend the extension when we detect that a user's open repository uses GitHub.

We did not want to add GitHub functionality directly to the core VS Code editor because there are many source control options. Issues and pull requests often go hand in hand, so including them in the same GitHub Pull Requests and Issues extension was a logical step as much of the same GitHub API is needed for both issues and pull requests. Starting with VS Code version 1.45, this new support to move the issues and source code closer together will be available in the GitHub Pull Requests and Issues extension (formerly named GitHub Pull Requests). This addition complemented the GitHub Pull Request work we announced over a year ago. Given how important issues are to our team and other GitHub projects, we wanted to add GitHub issues integration to VS Code. From our detailed iteration plans to individual bugs, we track everything as GitHub issues.

There are a number of settings that users can configure for stream.įor those that choose to limit the number of days records are kept in the database, one of their first commercial extensions, Data Exporter, will appeal to you. Administrators can limit the number of days records are kept (the default is 90), or they can choose to exclude certain types of data from the records (like comments). First, I wanted to know, is this going to be a database hog? Stream has a few ways to handle this. Of course, a couple of concerns popped up to me immediately with that notion. If you change the database, Stream will grab and log the change. You can track activity for particular users, or by post type, for comments, various plugin settings, core settings changes, and (quite literally) everything else. Stream is basically an activity log of everything that happens on your WordPress site.

Nevertheless, I particularly took note of Stream when Japh Thomson, former Envato WordPress evangelist, announced he was moving to X-Team to work on Stream full time. Like a number of companies in the WordPress space, they are a distributed workforce. Headquartered outside of Melbourne, Australia, I had no idea that X-Team had 100+ employees. Secondly, I knew that Stream was a significant business decision for X-Team, who does WordPress and Drupal consulting they are also the latest addition to the VIP partner list. For one, I could use the functionality here on Post Status. I've been wanting to try Stream for a while. The free version of the plugin was released in December of 2013, and this last weekend they announced their first commercial extensions. Apart from its few shortcomings, I have grown really fond of it, and it is really helpful in tracking and managing projects, even if you are coordinating with an external team. My time with YouTrack has been very pleasant. The complexity of usage pays off once YouTrack is practiced enough with consistency. It would not be wrong if I call it intimidating but believe me, it's worth it. In order to become a happy user, one needs to use it for at least a month to understand the environment and do basic stuff like creating projects, boards, or reports. We have been using YouTrack for over 6 months and everybody has become used to it and happy with it because it has solved a big bunch of problems including the communication constraint. If a user is highly enabled and equipped with customizing the features of YouTrack, almost anything can be done in aspects of project management.

YouTrack offers the complete flexibility to do things that are out of the box like adding custom scripts to apply conditions to move a task or to integrate the whole software to a local attendance system using the APIs. It has become the main concern for the team to solve issues and work on new tasks reported by the stakeholders. Comment boxes under tickets look rather medieval. Now you have to specially navigate to find that tag. For example, the option to search by `Assigned to me` has altogether disappeared from the main menu. you can do custom queries to search for bugs, and my team uses it every day during the agile meetings. Pricing is based on storage so that is really very helpful. Best for small teams which don't want to deal with the complexities of using JIRA. Performance is good as long as the setup has been done properly, else you will experience lags. The interface is intuitive and helps keep sprints clean and organized. Everybody at our company loves this product.Ĭompared to the various bug tracking softwares, this one is super simple, and easy to set up and get going. Comes with plenty of integrations so one can customize as needed. The interface and the whole system is rather intuitive which comes in handy especially for companies where teams work on multiple projects at the same time and more often than not each is tied with another project in one way or another. Easy to setup and use without having to jump through any hoops. Perfect for small teams to be used primarily for bug tracking, and sprint planning. Holds great promise, allows you to stay on top of things, but leaves a few things wanting There are some minor gaps in functionality but nothing that's been a show stopper throughout the years of use. The same is not true of JIRA which is a bit overwhelming for non-techies and is also way more expensive. We use it as a customer support tool and with a simple cheat sheet, they are up and running very rapidly. It's easy to use not just for techies but end users. We run our projects using the kanban functionality and when we show the boards to some of our clients who are familiar with JIRA often comment on how clean the interface is. Internal and external users all comment on it's ease of use, particularly as we can hide away the parts which are not so friendly for non-technical users. It's also very performant and does not have unreasonable system requirements. We run it within our own environments and can't even remember a time when we've ever had any problems or outages. The brand new helpdesk feature is expected to introduce a new license model with "reporters" - users' accounts that are cheaper and have limited functionality like creating, updating and viewing their tickets (similar to what we have on now). However, please note that users won't be able to log in to YouTrack since they don't have an account there.

​This time we decided to tell you what tools we use to create Degraman.

We don't want to teach you anything, we still don't have enough experience to do this. On the contrary, the goal of this post is to be as open as possible with you and perhaps to learn from you that there are better tools available.

We will try to give our feedback and bring all the necessary links.

Code

Ren'py - the engine of our game, with what exactly everything is written. It was selected solely because of the low entry threshold and platforms for which you can build the app, there is almost everything we needed, but also what is absent, promised to deliver very soon. And it’s free of course. The syntax is quite simple and there is a large community, which is always ready to help.

But the next game will almost certainly be written in something else (Unity is the very first candidate)

Gitlab - version control system. It allows us not to get confused in the code when working in parallel and saves all previous versions! By the way, thanks to it, we can see how the very first version of the game looked like. Maybe one day we will post it ╰(*︶`*) ╯

Github and BitBucket were considered as alternatives. The first one didn't have any closed repositories at the time of selection (now it has), and the second one didn't have any task management (still doesn't seem to have). Initially, we wanted to create tasks here, in gitlab, but this turned out to be inconvenient and we started using a separate task tracker

YouTrack - here we create tasks and bugs, write down ideas, plan releases, build analytics for issues, move issues around the Board, and much more.

It may not be the easiest task management system, but it’s exactly what we need. Up to 3 users - it’s free, exactly our option.

From the very beginning we had high requirements for the task tracker, so the alternatives quickly disappeared, either because of the lack of functionality, like Trello, Asana and the mentioned GitLab, or because of the price, like Jira (although Jira has a free version, but it, again, does not have anough functionality)

Vs Code — simple, clear, fast, free, well integrated with git, many plugins, including syntax highlighting for Ren'py.

Alternatives were Sublime text, Atom, and PyCharm. It's more tasteful, because all the options are almost the same, except that the last one is paid.

Text and translation

Google docs — the original text and the editing, everything’s here. There were no alternatives. We have heard that there are some programs for screenwriters or something like that, but so far we are satisfied with everything we have

Draw.io — Here we draw route diagrams. We also often use Coggle, but for other secret purposes :3

Yandex.Translator - proved to be unexpectedly better than Google one. A particularly cool feature is examples from movies, books, and TV series

PaintTool SAI 2 - all sprites and CGs are drawn here. The two at the end is very important, because there is still the first one, and there is some difference between them.

The main advantage of this program is its optimization. Where everything else gives up, SAI holds on and doesn't lag. Turkey draws in very large formats (~6K pixels and 200-300 layers) and only SAI works well.

But the main disadvantage is not even it’s paid, but how exactly the purchase process takes place. The one who passed this quest will wipe an avaricious tear, and who haven’t passed yet - good luck to you on this difficult path

Clip Studio Paint - here we apply for brushes that are not available in the SAI. Turkey wants to get to know this program better, but doesn’t have enough time

WACOM Intuos Pro Small (PTH-451) — a pen tablet. It replaced the proudly served and retired Wacom Bamboo Pen Tablet, which was bought 5-6 years before that. Turkey actively began to use it only after starting to engage in the novel, so it probably quickly fell into disrepair.
