YOUTRACK GITHUB INTEGRATION CODE
Instead, our goal was to bring issues into the inner development loop in a flexible way. It was important that we not prescribe overly specific workflows. By working with our own extension API, we ensure the API has the features that extension authors need, and other repository providers can implement similar integration. Instead, we will recommend the extension when we detect that a user's open repository uses GitHub.
YOUTRACK GITHUB INTEGRATION CODE
We did not want to add GitHub functionality directly to the core VS Code editor because there are many source control options. Issues and pull requests often go hand in hand, so including them in the same GitHub Pull Requests and Issues extension was a logical step as much of the same GitHub API is needed for both issues and pull requests. Starting with VS Code version 1.45, this new support to move the issues and source code closer together will be available in the GitHub Pull Requests and Issues extension (formerly named GitHub Pull Requests). This addition complemented the GitHub Pull Request work we announced over a year ago. Given how important issues are to our team and other GitHub projects, we wanted to add GitHub issues integration to VS Code. From our detailed iteration plans to individual bugs, we track everything as GitHub issues.
Node.js Development with Visual Studio Code and Azureīy Alex Ross, the Visual Studio Code team, we use GitHub issues to track all of our work.
Moving from Local to Remote Development.

Our tools
This time we decided to tell you what tools we use to create Degraman.
We don't want to teach you anything, we still don't have enough experience to do this. On the contrary, the goal of this post is to be as open as possible with you and perhaps to learn from you that there are better tools available.
We will try to give our feedback and bring all the necessary links.
Code
Tumblr media
Ren'py - the engine of our game, with what exactly everything is written. It was selected solely because of the low entry threshold and platforms for which you can build the app, there is almost everything we needed, but also what is absent, promised to deliver very soon. And it’s free of course. The syntax is quite simple and there is a large community, which is always ready to help.
But the next game will almost certainly be written in something else (Unity is the very first candidate)
Tumblr media
Gitlab - version control system. It allows us not to get confused in the code when working in parallel and saves all previous versions! By the way, thanks to it, we can see how the very first version of the game looked like. Maybe one day we will post it ╰(*︶`*) ╯
Github and BitBucket were considered as alternatives. The first one didn't have any closed repositories at the time of selection (now it has), and the second one didn't have any task management (still doesn't seem to have). Initially, we wanted to create tasks here, in gitlab, but this turned out to be inconvenient and we started using a separate task tracker
Tumblr media
YouTrack - here we create tasks and bugs, write down ideas, plan releases, build analytics for issues, move issues around the Board, and much more.
It may not be the easiest task management system, but it’s exactly what we need. Up to 3 users - it’s free, exactly our option.
From the very beginning we had high requirements for the task tracker, so the alternatives quickly disappeared, either because of the lack of functionality, like Trello, Asana and the mentioned GitLab, or because of the price, like Jira (although Jira has a free version, but it, again, does not have anough functionality)
Tumblr media
Vs Code — simple, clear, fast, free, well integrated with git, many plugins, including syntax highlighting for Ren'py.
Alternatives were Sublime text, Atom, and PyCharm. It's more tasteful, because all the options are almost the same, except that the last one is paid.
Text and translation
Tumblr media
Google docs — the original text and the editing, everything’s here. There were no alternatives. We have heard that there are some programs for screenwriters or something like that, but so far we are satisfied with everything we have
Tumblr media
Draw.io — Here we draw route diagrams. We also often use Coggle, but for other secret purposes :3
Tumblr media
Yandex.Translator - proved to be unexpectedly better than Google one. A particularly cool feature is examples from movies, books, and TV series
Art
PaintTool SAI 2 - all sprites and CGs are drawn here. The two at the end is very important, because there is still the first one, and there is some difference between them.
The main advantage of this program is its optimization. Where everything else gives up, SAI holds on and doesn't lag. Turkey draws in very large formats (~6K pixels and 200-300 layers) and only SAI works well.
But the main disadvantage is not even it’s paid, but how exactly the purchase process takes place. The one who passed this quest will wipe an avaricious tear, and who haven’t passed yet - good luck to you on this difficult path
Tumblr media
Clip Studio Paint - here we apply for brushes that are not available in the SAI. Turkey wants to get to know this program better, but doesn’t have enough time
Tumblr media
WACOM Intuos Pro Small (PTH-451) — a pen tablet. It replaced the proudly served and retired Wacom Bamboo Pen Tablet, which was bought 5-6 years before that. Turkey actively began to use it only after starting to engage in the novel, so it probably quickly fell into disrepair. Also, if you noticed a jump in the quality of drawing, it may also be due to the tablet update. Of course, it is much more convenient to draw on it.
Great for those who do not have a well-equipped workplace (like a Turkey), or for those who are used to work in small formats, or are not used to wave their hand very much.
We touched a lot of tablets while choosing, but this is just one love
Other
The Turkey's laptop is a Frankenstein, assembled from two laptops (15", 128 GB SSD, 12 GB RAM, medium-weak video card). Perhaps, after the release of the full version, we will update the computer, because there is not enough to run particularly greedy programs (Turkey hates freezes with all her heart)
Coffee - Vietnamese Dalat Blend

Create a to-do list from emails, issues, and support tickets
Our every day starts with a 'to-do-today' kind of list. We have a startup to run, a day job to do, and a family to care about. Writing lists is the easiest way to stay sane.
Lots of tasks come from other apps - support systems, bug and issue trackers. Emails bring a lot of customer feedback, which often requires immediate action.
It's easier to keep control over daily plans when you see all to-dos as one list.
Tickets, emails and bug reports - all go in the same list with other to-dos.
We do it with Checkvist Web Clipper, which integrates with Gmail, Jira, Zendesk, and other apps, out of the box.
Thus one can collect all the bits and pieces in one place, organize with tags, set time estimates and due dates. And then work on them as you find convenient.
And the last - but not least, have one unified 'done list' by the end of the day 🤓
Create action items from Gmail emails
Open an email
Pre-select email text you want to add as a note.
Click the web clipper icon in the browser toolbar, or press Shift-Alt-c.
Select a target destination, add your own text, sub-tasks, set due dates, and tags.
Press Ctrl-Enter to create a list item in Checkvist.
To connect Checkvist with desktop mailing apps, use built-in email integration.
Clip Zendesk, Jira, or YouTrack tickets to Checkvist
Open a Zendesk ticket, click the web clipper icon in the toolbar.
Checkvist will create a list item with the ticket's ID and the title. Add tags, due dates, notes, or sub-tasks, and share with others.
Clip GitHub and GitLab pages to Checkvist
You can create lists from the issues or pages in GitHub or GitLab.
The order is the same:
Open the page
Invoke the web clipper with Shift-Alt-c
Add all details and attributes you need.
Press Ctrl-Enter to create a list item.
JetBrains Space integration
Space is a new team management tool from JetBrains. They say it is going to cover the whole product lifecycle, from documentation and code review to support and help desk.
If you live on the cutting edge and participate in their Early Access Program, use Checkvist as an additional list-making layer.
All supported page types for GitHub, GitLab, and Space are listed in the Checkvist reference.
New autocompletion in Web Clipper
A new feature you want to use when adding attributes to the clippings, like tags.
This is especially helpful when you have several similar tags in the system. If you do, it's better to either merge tags or select the correct one in the first place. And now the latter is much easier :)
Have you tried our Web Clipper yet? Do you need integration with other apps? Leave a comment here or write us directly at [email protected]
Till soon!

Just a note for myself to remind me how to setup the CI/CD, git commit message template and integrating both Github and YouTrack for mobile projects. Let’s start from the easiest part – Git commit message template.

Checkvist Web Clipper updated
Hello, friends!
Checkvist Web clipper is a useful tool for collecting bits and pieces online. Install it as a Chrome or Firefox bookmarklet tool, and send everything you find to your lists.
To work on all web sites, our previous simpler bookmarklet had to become a proper web clipper app.
We've added a toolbar action button, so now you can save a clipping with just one click. You can also do it with one keyboard shortcut Shift-Alt-C. Or right-click, and use the browser context menu.
Install the updated Web Clipper as a Chrome extension or as a Firefox add-on.
As the previous bookmarklet, the new Web clipper integrates with
Gmail
GitHub
Jira
YouTrack
Every list item from these apps will have a corresponding icon and text from the issue or an email title.
Pre-select text on the page to add it as a note.
Turn your clippings into actionable items with tags and due dates.
This is a small video demonstration of the new bookmarklet:
youtube
And many thanks @Natalie who helped us troubleshoot and fix the bookmarklet problems! :)
We've also published another Checkvist Firefox add-on which opens Checkvist in the Firefox sidebar or as a pop-up window.
UPDATE: Checkvist Web Clipper for Chrome and Firefox ver. 2.0
