My Yu-Gi-Oh! DM OC, Devan. A card designer for Industrial Illusions and, later, Kaiba Corp. Devan uses a Gemini Deck when dueling. LORE below!

In the ancient past, Devan's ancestor, Darius grew up in the village of Kul Elna alongside his closest friend, Bakura. When the village was massacred in order to create the Millennium Items, Bakura chose a path of vengeance, but Darius was chosen by the creator of light to stop Zorc. Using a powerful Ka, the Odd-Eyes Dragon, Darius was fated to become enemies with Bakura, whom he considered a brother once. In the modern day, Bakura retains his memories of the ancient past, recognizing Devan immediately as the descendant of his once-called brother from his odd eyes. Devan, who has no knowledge of their past relationship is confused as to why Bakura refers to him as "Brother." Throughout the story, Bakura attempts to convince Devan to join him in collecting the Millennium Items, but Devan consistently refuses, due to his friendship with Yugi. Devan also seems to have a handful of powers related to the Millennium Items, allowing him to invoke shadow games and sense the true nature of a person's soul. Most of his abilities seem to be a result of his past as a citizen of Kul Elna and it's importance in the creation of the items. After learning of his ancient past, Devan creates his new Ace Monster based on the Ka of his ancestor - "Odd-Eyes Dragon." While working for Kaiba Corp, Devan develops technology that he hopes will advance Kaiba's research into virtual reality. He creates a machine that he thinks will create a virtual world, but instead, thanks to his powers, the machine creates an opening to an alternate universe where the Spirits of Duel Monsters are real. Devan calls this machine the Duel Terminal and is inspired to create new cards based on the creatures and people he meets within it. The first monsters Devan attempts to bring into the game from Duel Terminal are the Dark World monsters. His initial attempts are met with many complications as he was unprepared for the consequences of turning real creatures into cards. The Dark World cards seem to have a will of their own and Devan deems them too dangerous for Mass Production. He attempts to lock away the cards, but they are stolen by another Kaiba Corp Employee, later resurfacing in the hands of a student at Kaiba's GX Duel Academy. Among the Stolen Dark World Card was also a Fusion counterpart to his Odd-Eyes Dragon - "Starving Venom Fusion Dragon." Devan's research within the Duel Terminal leads to him coming up with the idea for Synchro monsters. Collaborating with Kaiba, they attempt to create such cards, but are met with complications. Kaiba Corp's virtual systems become overloaded when they attempt to Synchro Summon and they spend years searching for a solution. They eventually land on a promising concept and create both the Moment Reactors and D-Wheels. One of the first Successful Synchro Cards Devan creates is another counterpart to Odd-Eyes - "Clear Wing Synchro Dragon". Which eventually ends up in the hands of a citizen of Neo Domino City in an area that later becomes known as the Satellite. Inspired by Devan's work on the Duel Terminal, Kaiba creates his own Virtual World known as Duel Links which, like Duel Terminal, ends up connecting alternate timelines together. After discovering the Zexal Universe, Devan is surprised to see that his concept for Xyz Summoning is already a popular mechanic in this world and yet another counterpart to Odd-Eyes is created by Devan - "Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon." Eventually all four of Devan's Dragons fall into the hands of an Entertainment Duelist named Zarc. More on that when we get to my Arc V OC's.

Cross Duel End of Service

This just in! Good evening, Duelists, this is Luna, the Duel Reporter reporting that the mobile game, Yu-Gi-Oh Cross Duel, is terminating its service on September 4, 2023. Cross Duel players will be able to get support in Master Duel and Duel Links, via currency and icons.

I gotta say, while I didn’t play Cross Duel, I kinda expected it to live further than that. This game has been out six months, and it’s already calling it quits.

I mean, for crying out loud, Duel Links has been going strong for almost 7 years now. It has seen 2 Yu-Gi-Oh series come and go and SEVERAL new formats be either created or officially endorsed, like Rush Duel, Speed Duel, Common Charity, and Time Wizard.

So... what happened? Well, even a brief Google search will tell you that the player base for Cross Duel has been dwindling for a while now. And even then, Cross Duel doesn’t seem very Yu-Gi-Oh esque, past the art used, which can drive off people more invested in the actual card game, like myself. But, even then, I’m shocked to learn that it’s going down literally two days before it even becomes a year old.

I am going to mourn this game, however, both between being a Yu-Gi-Oh fan and not wanting to see something from one of my favorite franchises fail, but also as a fan of the new artwork the game brought. I mean, seriously, I just adore these Icons.

I mean, look at these. These have so much personality and fanservice.

Neos’ is cool and cocky, Stardust Dragon is riding Yusei’s bike, Superstar packs all of Shingo Sawatari’s fruitiness while still being an homage to the card and to Abyss Script, Borreload is doing Revolver’s JoJo pose from episode 46 of VRAINS, while also kinda looking like his redesign from Season 2.

All this to say, rest in peace Yu-Gi-Oh Cross Duel. You will be missed.

You Will continue whit your comic Yugioh Neo terminal, once You end Yu-gi-oh vrains2.0?

I've had thoughts for revamping it but I don't really see it in my future as something I'd work on to the scale I did with 2.0.

I have a very strange relationship with Neo Terminal.

It was the product of feeling like I owed my followers for the ''success'' I had during that time. When I opened my eyes to the concept of doing whatever the hell I wanted, I felt... Free. I lost a lot of followers and I barely reach notes over 20 these days. But I'd take that than making something that would only make me miserable.

But as stated before, I think it'd be neat to bring Neo Terminal back as something I can reclaim and revamp. Just not in the form of a comic or an anime. Just a concept that exists that I can draw for whenever I feel nostalgic.

So I’m getting to Sawatari match 2 in my ARC-V binge watch, here’s the mini-meta:

*The current matchups basically give You Show edge over LDS. This will be reversed with Shun vs. Sora, but neither character really represents the schools they participate under.

*I could go deep into the weeds of Duel Terminal lore, but Masumi’s main Fusions in the Duel represent the following:

**Master Diamond is basically Manjoume’s Armed Dragon LV10.

**Zirconia is basically a standard Blue-Eyes White Dragon clone.

**Brilliant Diamond is basically a combination of Johan’s Rainbow Dragon, and Armed Dragon LV10. Interestingly, it is also the likely inspiration of recent Armed Neos’s effect, which the Fusion of Neos, and Armed Dragon Thunder LV10.

Of course, Crystal Rose is Elemental HERO Prisma, which was the card that represents Judai’s bond to Johan in the duel against Yubel. (Serena’s posthumous support Kaleido Chick is also a reference to Prisma).

*Ankokuji duel is basically a DM reference, with his gang being a reference to the early bullies Yugi fought in the manga. His boss monster, Shaman Battleguard is basically a reference to Katsuya’s Gilford the Lightning (since Battleguards are Katsuya, and Hiroto’s monsters), but with the brainwashing effect of various DM antagonists, and Esper Roba.

I do wonder if Ankokuji was originally intended as one of the would be Fusion defectors though, since his conflict with Yuya isn’t resolved, and both Katsuya, and Hiroto were Fusion users in DM animé.

*I like how show parallels Yaiba’s mentorship of Gongenzaka with Sora’s mentorship of Yuzu. Unfortunately nothing comes of it. Thanks ARC-V.

*Structure of these early Maiami Duels show very, very heavy Pokémon influence, just like early Duelist Kingdom. But it is more pronounced here. I really like it, but I can guess many Yu-Gi-Oh! fans hated it back in the day.

The Great Battle between the Heroes and Villains

And the Villains won, massacring the heroes. A civil war occured that wiped out the greater Villains. Now slowly dying, Earth has become a land of mercenaries, marauders, and creatures of horror or rage. In this land, former US Soldier Randall Malloy is brought into a greater world as his life is targeted by enemies beyond his scope. The Great Battle between the Heroes and Villains

And the Villains won, massacring the heroes. A civil war occured that wiped out the greater Villains. Now slowly dying, Earth has become a land of mercenaries, marauders, and creatures of horror or rage. In this land, former US Soldier Randall Malloy is brought into a greater world as his life is targeted by enemies beyond his scope. The Great Battle between the Heroes and Villains

And the Villains won, massacring the heroes. A civil war occured that wiped out the greater Villains. Now slowly dying, Earth has become a land of mercenaries, marauders, and creatures of horror or rage. In this land, former US Soldier Randall Malloy is brought into a greater world as his life is targeted by enemies beyond his scope. Relying on his protector, the Symbiote Lesion, they must survive in a world where chaos reigns and the world is far more grey than it is black and white.

It has been a decade since the greatest conflict in Human history happened

The Great Battle between the Heroes and Villains

And the Villains won, massacring the heroes. A civil war occured that wiped out the greater Villains. Now slowly dying, Earth has become a land of mercenaries, marauders, and creatures of horror or rage. In this land, former US Soldier Randall Malloy is brought into a greater world as his life is targeted by enemies beyond his scope.
