I personally don't believe that Zim knows what crazy means. Reason? Irken Society seems to take being defective VERY seriously. I believe if Zim ever found out about the definition of the word crazy he'd snap and maul the ones daring to call HIS nemesis defective.

Invader Zim comics:

Thought of something while reading a fic of Zim and Dib bonding over 'what if' questions/scenarios about taking over the world. (Zim in the fic asked and Dib decided 'why not' and answered and THAT turned into a three hour bonding rant about taking over the world. It's a great read so far. 🤩) 🤔

Anyway, that fic/chapter got me thinking about Canon/the comics.

DIB ACTUALLY *HAS* A PLAN FOR IF HE TOOK OVER THE WORLD! 🤯 The humans messed Dib up SO BADLY that he CANONICALLY THOUGHT OF A PLAN! 😭 I don't read the comics (don't know how to get ahold of them) but I remember discovering this by running across one of the comic pages where Zim asked Dib what HE'D do to take over and WITHOUT HESITATION (not to mention he seemed enthusiastic if I remember) Dib starts rambling about gathering the world's leaders and something because THEN Dib catches HIS enthusiasm and ZIM'S excitement and starts ranting that Zim isn't gonna trick him/that Dib isn't gonna tell him.

When I tell you I was shocked, but not really surprised, and heartbroken that humanity DID THAT to Dib. It wouldn't surprise me if Show/Movie-Dib has a 'what if' plan.

Ran across this cute animatic on YouTube called "the babysitter's an alien" and listening to the full song of "the babysitter's a vampire" by Fred and came up with the most adorable idea ever:

When Dib was six and Gaz was five, they had a babysitter for a week. (Membrane was inventing the hover screen thing so he could be at work and watch his kids) Zim had crash-landed (got this idea from the animatic "Tiny Alien" where Zim crashes to Earth when Dib was a child) and decided to see what this species' Smeets are like and accepted the babysitting job. (Zim at this time is eleven or twelve in Human years. 💖 I headcanon that when they met when Dib was ten, {by the way, I was shocked to learn that. 😮 I thought they met when Dib was twelve!} ZIM was fifteen.) Long story short, Zim was amused that this young Smeet feared him so much and fascinated by how observant he was. So, as a treat on his last day on this planet, he briefly slipped off his disguise, making sure no one but the Dib-Smeet was watching, and bowed playfully. The results were amusing and adorable. The Smeet started freaking out and yelling to his Parental Unit that the alien just took off his disguise! After Zim was a few blocks away, he hacked into the house's cameras. The Smeet was excitedly explaining about how "the babysitter's an ALIEN" and how amazing his real look was. The younger Smeet, Gaz, asked that she "thought you were scared of him". Dib responded "YEAH, but he was SO COOL too!!". Needless to say, Zim was a little bit charmed by the young Smeet. Years later, when Dib finds out who the "scary, cool, and mysterious alien babysitter" had been he was mortified. Zim was torn between feeling charmed, even all these years later, that the Dib-creature remembered him and teasing the dookie out of his Human ...... Zim did both.

Yes.

I know "dudes who are supposed to be just friends/actively hate each other hugging when something is scary" is a comedy trope as old as the hills, but it goes back to the idea that on an primal level, these two instinctively find each other a source of comfort and safety.

And it's not like this is unprecedented either. Who does Zim turn to when the Planet Jackers show up? Dib. Who does Dib turn to when he fears being trapped in his own nightmare world forever? Zim. Who does Zim go to for help defeating Tak? Dib. Who does Dib go to for help alleviating Gaz's pig sense curse? Zim. When the chips are down it's always, "You're the only person who can help me." Usually they say it's because the other person is the only one with technology advanced enough to help, but there's more left unspoken. "You're the only person I can talk to about this without blowing my cover". "You're the only person who doesn't think I'm crazy". "You're the only person smart enough for me to work with".

There's even moments like in the Xmas special where Zim feels strangely like he can confide in the one elf robot that's really Dib in disguise, or in the comic where he takes Dib disguised as an intern to his special secret getaway spot out in space, or when Dib initiates a game of "I Spy" to pass the time in prison, or when he confides in Zim and plots with him to upstage his dad in ETF, or their interactions throughout Hamstergeddon or Dib's interactions with all the variant Zims in the previous issue that show us how easy it is for them to lower their guard and slip into casual familiarity and even vulnerability.

This is an idea addition inspired by my old post :)

Chammy Wamboo comes back after being sent through a portal because of how fed up Zim and Dib both were, she easily befriends aliens that have the mission of spreading love throughout the galaxy (cheesy I know) gave her an elixir giving her powers to basically become cupid and control peoples love life with shooting people with arrows that would obviously make them fall in love but also create their string of fate with another who has been shot with a connected arrow. Coming back to fulfill her duties of uniting the two not only as friends, now with her new powers of love✌️RAHHHH
