One of my favorite things about Leo’s portals is the fact that they’re tangible.

He can throw those like frisbees and hit people with them like?? The boys’ abilities are so fun and magical and even sci-fi-esque but this aspect of Leo’s portals are so distinctly a Looney Tunes flavor of cartoon-y that I absolutely adore.

And sure this aspect of the portals can be used for fighting, but moreover the sheer amount of visual gags this does and can create is infinite.

#Looking at my childhood art like i was a TERRIBLE artist even by child standards #No wonder my dad was so angry when i decided to try to make art work rather than get a comfy software engineering job #Like child me was DETERMINED to do this i thought it was a given there was no way i wasnt going to be an artist #Pretty much from the age of 4 when i saw beauty and the beast for the first time #But looking back at it as an adult like...i get it #I can see why my dad watched me draw these shitty weird cartoons as a kid and worried that i was going to fail miserably lol #He was partially right :/#My art is still shit but i keep at it like...like one of those whack a moles #Or the punching bag thing that gets hit and flips right back up #Did i mention i saw my dad briefly on my way up here #He's so disappointed in me i can just see it in how he talks to me or looks at me #But for fucks sake even when i was doing EVERYTHING right and getting my computer science degree and graduating with straight A's #He STill didnt want anything to do with me so its not much of a fucking change #I did notice he asked if i had heard from jordan #And no i dont keep tabs with my brother much #But i was shocked that dad hadn't heard from him in years because last time i saw my dad 2018 ish jordan was the golden child #He was the one who was finally steering his life in the right direction and studying programming #(not at my level but he's a boy so its fine)#And getting a programming job and shit #I guess that golden child status didnt last long kind of like my own lmao #Journal shit #Anyway tldr im feeling real shitty about my art right now \o/

This post is no shade to Izzy fans. (Obviously I'm sick of Izzy stans but the Izzy Jar guys and Izzy enjoyers are cool and can probably skip this post because I'm gonna complain about your boy) It's just my personal opinion.

Izzy is so boring dude. Like my initial impression of the show is like oh what a neurotic little villain, and the role he plays cross Ed is interesting. But to me Ed is what makes him interesting. Ed is an interesting character and Izzy plays a huge role in his story. Their relationship is interesting.

But Izzy on his own is like... So boring to me. And every time Ive said "idk what's interesting about him" I've gotten in trouble for it. I even had one person say "IDK what to tell you when we have so many wonderful interviews and panels from the creators" and I was just sitting there like... Yeah I've seen those. They make him even more boring. Like am I the only one without the Izzy wool over my eyes? Because like at the C2E2 panel for example I feel like Con said "he's got a lot of layers and all of them are bad" and everyone just stopped listening after the word layers.

Like in the interviews there's been a some of talk about Izzy's sword fighting, like that's his one skill, his signature weapon. And people are like 🥹 he likes sword fighting!!! And I'm like "oh... So there's no secret piano skill that he's hiding? His hobby is just violence?"

Like the most interesting thing about him is that he likes getting choked and force fed his own toe. Like the fact that he gets horny about depraved shit is my favorite thing about him. But also the depravity isn't even like fun it's about exerting power for him, which is like the most boring reason to be into it. It would be so much cooler if he was into erotic forced auto cannibalism for the love of the game rather than some 24/7 bdsm fantasy of being Blackbeard's dog he has. It's like I love it don't get me wrong, but also whip my balls is the superior masochistic flex. I'm being fed too well by this show to succumb to that

Ill admit that part of this is that I find people who are obsessed with power to be viscerally unappealing (I'm an anarchist politically so) and I think repression is the enemy and hedonism is like my favorite thing and I hate work. Like I'm predisposed to be a hater. Except despite all that I'm not actually a hater I just don't understand the hype.

And again, if you like Izzy that's fine. My brain decided to latch onto Calico Jack I do not sit on very solid judging ground here. But it seems like I'm the only one who's just like "yeah Izzy? Useful for causing problems, kinda mid."

#Although since I mentioned Calico Jack #I once was like 'I don't get why everyone hates my beautiful boy(derrogitory) when Izzy is a fan favorite'#and I got a lot of comments that boiled down to 'well Izzy's an interesting character and Calico Jack is like a cartoon villain'#and I'm just like 'first of all being an interesting character and a cartoon villain are not mutually exclusive'#sorry that you're pissed that hes the funnier Ed villain but you might want to take that L #and second of all 'Izzy is an interesting character' show me where.#Like babe #I'm not on my high horse don't get on yours.#because i can get on mine and mines a fuckin clidesdale #thats the name for the huge draft horses with the leg warmers right?#ofmd #our flag means death #i really wish Con had never said 'hes trying to be better' because it doesn't make him any more interesting #and it gives people ammunition to be like actually you have to like him #girl i dont #i will be so apathetic about him just watch me #im actually izzy neutral its just that everyone is so insane about him for no reason that i have to be the kill joy

marvelous misadventures of flapjack is literally such a gay and transgender show but i can't tell for the life of me tell if it's actually on purpose or not

#the s1 finale is about a man so beautiful that he has to hide his face under a sack or else he gets bombarded #primarily by other men who just want to look at him. like so badly that they'll pay him #there was that ep i posted about last night where flapjack literally experiences transphobia and dysphoria #and then gets gender affirming surgery #k'nuckles expresses an extreme dislike for women's appearances and then claims to see the most beautiful woman in the world #and said woman is a mirror with a wig on it #in an episode that surrounds wishes from mermaids' tears k'nuckles wishes to be 'myself as a woman. just for a minute'#there was the beard episode where it's established that k'nuckles's whiskers are fake #and that tons of the contestants of the beard contest are women who grow beards naturally #the winner of the contest is a woman and her prize? a date with peppermint larry's daughter. who is excited for it #and just in general. flapjack is an extremely effeminate little boy who's established as the most likable person in stormalong #ntm it's made by the same ppl who later made adventure time and gravity falls and they like #genuinely kinda laid a lot of groundwork for modern lgbt rep in cartoons #ok to rb #WAIT JUST REMEMBERED ANOTHER BIG ONE-#in one ep flapjack gets a crush on a girl that makes him produce cartoon hearts that peppermint larry wants to harvest from him #bc they're like a delicacy #only for it to turn out that all along the floating hearts were 'blood gnats' that were hatching from eggs that got laid in his ears #and like. flapjack is literally being made extremely sick from the expectations of love for a girl being pushed on him by the town #and rather than being disgusted that there were blood gnats coming out of his head this whole time #flapjack is delighted to discover that this means he was never in love #and the girl - who was disgusted to think that flapjack was in love with her - is equally delighted #they end the episode bidding each other farewell saying 'bye i don't love you!!!! :D' 'bye i don't love you too!!!!!'#like it's just off the charts #but at the same time! there's plenty of plausible deniability that it's just the absurd nature of the show's comedy #so who knows how intentional it was
