oh, what a raging dumpster fire this year has turned into, but, i am not making this post to focus on the negative, but the positive. im making this post as a reflection on how ive grown and how my blog/presence on tumblr have grown and changed.

first, i satrted 2020 with just 41 folllowers, which, at the time, i was surprised to have that many, i made a goal of 50 folowers at first, then, when i hit fifity, i bumped my goal up to 100, then 200, then 300, then 400. when i hit the 400's, my folower count kind of plataeued for a little while, until about 3 months ago, i started gaining followers again! i made my final goal for 2020 to hit 500 followers, and i knew when i did i would do something special. well, that day came a lot sonner than i was expecting. i hit 500 followers and had no idea what to do as a celebration, after a few days, i decided to do an art contest, i didnt get many entries, but, i was happy to get any entries. all 3 entries won, since i felt bad leaving one out

one of the biggest identity changes ive had this year is my self discovery to being polyamorus

i also further looked into my identity as bisexual. i learned a lot about bisexuality, including that i dont need to have feelings for just boys and girls, but many different types of people, and still be valid. i always thought bisexuality is you just like boys and girls strictly, but i found out thats not true, and it made me happy

this is one of the ast sections, but i also want to cover relationships

i was in my first real relationship this year, but ive been in 3, the most successful of which is the one im in now

which leads me to my last thing i want to cover, my wonderful wonderful boyfriend, @alec-the-transgender-artist

he is so incredible. he cares about me and wants whats best for me. hes there when i need comfort, or affection, or anything. we respect each others boundaries and we just enjoy being together. we havent had any arguments, and i am so happy its as smooth as it is. i really think he might be 'the one'

and while 2020 may have been horrible and filled with a lot of heartbreak and hurt and sadness, but some great things happened this year and im so proud of what ive been able to do and who ive helped, who ive helped keep alive and everyone who i helped make the lives of a little less bad and made it easier

GILROY, Calif. (AP) — Before a 19-year-old gunman opened fire on a famed garlic festival in his California hometown, he urged his Instagram followers to read a 19th century book popular with white supremacists on extremist websites, but his motives for killing two children and another young man were still a mystery Monday.

Santino William Legan posted the caption about the book "Might is Right," which claims race determines behavior. It appeared with a photo of Smokey the Bear in front of a "fire danger" sign and also complained about overcrowding towns and paving open space to make room for "hordes" of Latinos and Silicon Valley whites.

In his last Instagram post Sunday, Legan sent a photo from the Gilroy Garlic Festival. Minutes later, he shot into the crowd with an AK-47 style weapon, killing a 6-year-old boy, a 13-year-old girl and a man in his mid-20s .

Under it, he wrote: "Ayyy garlic festival time" and "Come get wasted on overpriced" items. Legan's since-deleted Instagram account says he is Italian and Iranian.

The postings are among the first details that have emerged about Legan since authorities say he appeared to fire at random, sending people running and diving under tables. Police patrolling the event responded within a minute and killed Legan as he turned the weapon on them.

The gunman legally purchased the semi-automatic assault rifle this month in Nevada, where his last address is listed. He would have been barred from buying it in California, which restricts firearms purchases to people over 21. In Nevada, the age limit is 18.

Hundreds of people came out Monday night for a candlight vigil in front of City Hall in honor of those killed and injured.

"We cannot let the bastard that did this tear us down," Mayor Roland Velasco declared to cheers.

Legan grew up less than a mile from the park where the city known as the "Garlic Capital of the World" has held its three-day festival for four decades, attracting more than 100,000 people with music, food booths and cooking classes.

Authorities were looking for clues, including on social media, as to what caused the son of a prominent local family to go on a rampage. His father was a competitive runner and coach, a brother was an accomplished young boxer and his grandfather had been a supervisor in Santa Clara County.

Police said they don't know if people were targeted, but at this point, it appears he shot indiscriminately. Twelve people were injured.

Police searched Legan's vehicle and the two-story Legan family home, leaving with paper bags. Authorities also searched an apartment they believed Legan used this month in remote northern Nevada. Officials didn't say what they found.

Big Mikes Gun and Ammo, which appears to be a home-based internet gun shop in Fallon, Nevada, said on its Facebook page that Legan ordered the rifle off its website and "was acting happy and showed no reasons for concern" when the store owner met him. The post said it was "heartbroken this could ever happen."

In California, police had training in how to respond to an active shooter. While they prepared for the worst, they never expected to use those skills in Gilroy, a city of about 50,000 about 80 miles (176 kilometers) southeast of San Francisco known for the pungent smell of its prize flowering crop grown in the surrounding fields — garlic.

The city had security in place for one of the largest food fairs in the U.S. It required people to pass through metal detectors and have their bags searched. Police, paramedics and firefighters were stationed throughout the festival.

But Legan didn't go through the front entrance. He cut through a fence bordering a parking lot next to a creek, Gilroy Police Chief Scot Smithee said. Some witnesses reported a second suspect, and authorities were trying to determine if he had any help.

Police arrested a 20-year-old man who claimed involvement online, but investigators determined he was just trying to get attention.

The police chief praised officers for stopping Legan with handguns without injuring anyone else.

"It could've gotten so much worse, so fast," Smithee said.

The gunfire sent people in sunhats and flip-flops running away screaming. Some dove for cover under the decorated food booth tables. Others crawled under a concert stage, where a band had started playing its last song.

The youngest victim, Stephen Romero, described by his grandmother as a kind, happy and playful kid, had just celebrated his sixth birthday in June at Legoland in Southern California.

"My son had his whole life to live and he was only 6," his father, Alberto Romero, told San Francisco Bay Area news station KNTV after the shooting.

Also killed was 13-year-old Keyla Salazar from San Jose, seen dressed in pink, wearing a tiara of flowers and smiling as she poses with relatives in photos posted on her aunt's Facebook page.

"I have no words to describe this pain I'm feeling," Katiuska Pimentel Vargas wrote.

The oldest victim killed was Trevor Irby, 27, a biology major who graduated in 2017 from Keuka College in upstate New York.

The wounded were taken to multiple hospitals, and their conditions ranged from fair to critical, with some undergoing surgery.

Troy Towner said his sister, Wendy Towner, was at the festival for her business, the Honey Ladies, when she saw a man with a gun climb over the fence. She yelled at him: "No, you can't do that!"

The gunman shot her in the leg and her husband three times, while a young girl dragged their 3-year-old son under a table, Towner wrote on a fundraising page he set up for his sister.

Towner said his sister underwent surgery and was expected to have long-term nerve damage, while her husband faces many surgeries.

Candice Marquez, who works for Wendy Towner and her husband, Francisco, told The Associated Press that she had stepped away to go to the bathroom and saw the gunman heading to their tent. She said her 10-year-old niece helped the toddler to safety.

"She was brave," Marquez said.

Jan Dickson, a neighbor who lives across the street from the Legan family, described them as "a nice, normal family." She said Santino Legan had not lived there for at least a year.

"How do you cope with this? They have to deal with the fact that their son did this terrible thing and that he died," Dickson said.

I had a great evening today! Did I lie? Yes I did. It’s Already time for me to sleep and I had a rough day today but her I a cramming to make and have a lot of activities to make. I hate rushing things especially when doing activities. But I don’t have a choice because I have a busy schedule these past few days. When I was in 3 rd grade I enjoyed going to school, meeting my friends all of that. But sometimes I hate going to school, but my parents always telling me that if I will not go to school I will be poor and will not afford the things I want to buy and that I will not have a comfortable life. When I turned 10yrs old this was the time that I started having a crush and admiring people. I also have a diary that I always writes on and writing what happened to my day and I think that Is the age that diaries are popular and it is a must have so that you can write the things that is happening or happened. Then I turned 13yrs old I started to enjoy myself being and feeling like an adult/lady. I feel like It is fun being an adult and having those obligations. Work is the first thing that excites me because at that time I’m thinking about the money that I will earn and the things that I will buy here and there. When I turned grade 7 or the first year of high school. This is very exciting to me because at that time I kind of feel like I am starting to be independent and feel like grown up. I started to enjoy school more and have more friends and I started having fun going out with my friends and doing over nights and bonding with them. Those days are the happy me and doesn’t care about what people are saying about me. Then I turned grade 11. I’m excited and scared at the same time because this are the time that I felt like I’m near being a college student. It makes me feel scared because when the pandemic started the job that I wanted first was now not my choice anymore. There is pressure for me this time because I am near getting my course. My mom once said that if I will get one course in college I need to finish it. When I will shift to another course that it will be more difficult for me and that it is not nice she said. So that is the thing that puts pressure on me when I started grade 11. Because I feel like it is just 2 years from becoming and getting the course that can change my life. Then I turned grade 12. I started to be more matured than I am before. My mindset become different and the way I look at things are different from the softer Fionna and younger Fionna I know. I have no motivation to start the day, I do not have a motivation to wake up and go to school. I do not have the strength to wake up and go down stairs and eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. At the moment I became more protective to myself that I do not let people break me and tell me what I can and can’t do. This grade 12 I really lost a lot of my friends. Those people that I thought would stay by myside. The people that I expected that they are my real friend comes out as the people who are talking bad things behind my back. That the real world are full of things and people that will really try to pull you down when you are at your best. There are people that will be by your side at your best but will not be there when you are at your lowest. Grade 12 me doesn’t need a lot of friends. I wanted my circle small more but true ones, Instead of having a big circle that wants you down. That is why we must always cherish every moment in our life especially to the people we love most. We do not know when they are going to die. Always ask the people around you how they are doing because we don’t know If they are still doing good or not. Sonner or later they will not be by our side anymore. We must make the most out of it. Writing makes our thinking and learning visible and permanent. Love is like writing we must keep it from heart. We cannot write without that ability of our mind and especially heart. That is why good singers are producing good songs because it is from their heart. Edgar Allan Poe stated, “I would define, in brief, the poetry of words as the rhythmical creation of beauty.”

I should be happy, today is the day i will meet my future husbund. For what i have seen and heard he is the perfect Shadowhunters, just as it should be: strong and confident, with a natural talent for fighting and obviously loyal and in love with the Clave…well, let’s just say that i do not wonder why everyone and Maryse adore him. He is not good as much as Jace, he is important just because his family are prestigious like the Lightwood. After i told Alec and Izzy about my arranged marriage they called Magnus and they explained to him the situation. I can swear that i had never seen him so angry. He was so close to going to strangle Maryse and even without the use of his magic, i would add. Since he and Alec got together, we became very good friends and i am really glad. Fortuanatelly after a cocktail or two and the attempts of Alec to calm him down, he calms. I hope i can have what they have, they seems so happy and in love with each other that they are capable of illuminating the entire room just by staying close. I am happy for Alec, he more than anyone deserves love. Now we are all in the center room with the other Shadowhunters. Maryse has called a meeting and i want to disappear, literally, i asked Magnus to open a portal but he hugged me and told me to keep walking whit my chin up. I can see Jace and Clary at the other side of the room, Jace is looking around the room in search of something, as soon as he sees us he nods toward Clary and they start coming to us. “Do you guys know the reason beind this?” he asks crossing his arms. “Maybe.” i whisper and Jace frown, he was about to reply when Maryse cut him off. “Thank everyone for coming here, i have an important annuncemement. But before, Y/N can you join me?” she asks me, i head towards her while Jace and Clary look at me perplexed. She keeps talking when i reach her. “Today James Blackwine will be here at the Institute. I am proud to announce the union in marriage of two families, the Blackwine and the Lightwood-Y/L/N. He is coming here because we have the honour to organize his wedding with our Y/N.” as soon as she finishes talking the whole room bursts in applause and congratulations. I can not do anything but blush and then look at the ground. After a few minutes Maryse ends the meeting and everyone walks away to do their work. Izzy, Alec and Magnus are watching with soft and sympathetic eyes. Clary is looking at me with her mouth wide open and eyes out, i do not dare to look at Jace. “Are you going to marry? I feel guilty, frightened and embarassed under his eyes. “Why do not you tell me?” he caters only to me, i can feel his eyes burning against me. “A marriage? Where all this come from? Are you crazy or what? Look at me.” he adds grabbing my arm and i gasp squeezing my eyes. Alec pushes away Jace and stands between us. “That’s enough, Jace! Stay calm, look you’re hurting her and let her breathe.” “No, i do not have enough Alec! I want to know what’s going on and what’s all this about the wedding! Why nobody told me?” “Jace…” Izzy tries to speak. “I’m not talking to you Isabelle. I want to talk alone with Y/N, you go away” ordes Jace. I raise my eyes on him again and he is livid, is face is red and his jaw tightened so much that his lips are trembling a little. The others look worried at me and i nod “It is ok, go.” i say watching them one by one. “I will be fine.” i add and after a second Jace drags me down the hall to his room since no one did the gesture to go away. He opens the door and pushes me inside, he comes in and close the door. He turns to me and takes a deep breath trying to calm down and i can feel by body tense, i cross my arms on my chest trying to hide that i am shaking. I was so sicure about my choice, i am convinced that it is right but then he comes and breaks every certainty that i had. “Why?” he aks with a hoarse voice, when a few minutes ago he was about to explode at any moment, now he seems hurt and empty. His voice are strong as always but is tremling a little. That’s what hurts me the most, i prefer to see the strong and sure of himself Jace, rather than the vulnerable Jace in front of me now. I am in love with everything about him but this hurts me, i have never seen this side of Jace and the fact that i am the cause make me feel heartbroken, but i can not give up. “It seems obvious, there is nothing to explain” i declare finding a bit of strenght and control. “You have to explain a lot of things instead. First of all why did you avoided me for the whole week? Did i do somthing wrong? And by the Angel why you will marry that guy? Since when? You do not even know him and certainly you do not love him! I do not recognize you anymore!” he says and i can fell that he is heating up, word after word, frustated from my answer. “I do not have to explain anything to you. You do not care about me, there is no reason why i should explain my choices to you. You only care about yourself and Clary, for you everything revolves around her now! I no longer exist, Alec and Izzy do not exist anymore for you. I am going to marry James Blackwine, it is the right choice. I do not love him now, it is true, but i could do one day. And among all the people you can not talk about feeling to me, where the story that feelings are nothing?” i say irritated pressing my lips together avoiding to say more. “Do not you dare!” pointing his finger at me. “I care about you, a lot, more than i expected and more than anyone else. I thought about you every day, but you were and you are acting like a child! I spend my time with Clary because for her it is all new and i want to help her, that’s all. What you did is unacceptable! You really want to marry a stranger? You are supposed to kiss him, to love and make love with him, to make babies with him! It is not a game! You went out of your mind, i thought you were smarter than this.” he yells taken by anger, now his hands are narrow on his hips, his breath are slow and fast and his eyes are locked on mine. His words make me explode. “See! I can not do this anymore, i am tired Jace. I am tired of arguing with you. We are only hurting each other since Clary arrived and i am very tired of pretending that everything is fine! We are not the same as before and i miss the old Jace and Y/N. I am tired of losing people i care and if i keep you away from me i can not give you the power to hurt me. I just want to forget everything and move on, if this is the only way i will do it. I can not deal with the fact that if i will not do it i will help destroy a family, the family that welcomed and loved me.” my voice broke and i realize i am crying so i wipe the tears. During my speech Jace remained unmoved but i can see that he has tears in his eyes too. We are both exhausted, emotionally and physically. I close my eyes massaging my temple because i feel my head spinning, i take a deep long breath and i open my eyes. “I do not want to fight with you. It if means that we must stop talking for me it is fine. You will be happy with Clary and i will find my happiness with James.” i add. “I’d rather argue with you that to be with other girls or Clary. You’ve never understood it, right?” he shake his head laughing softly. “You are not the only one that lost his own family, maybe i am the one who understands you the most. We are similar more than you think and maybe this is one of the reasons because you are so important to me. You are right…for me emotions are nothing, they can control us and they have the power to hurt us” he sighs he runs is hands through his hair “Love destroys us. You destroys me every day and i will let you if you want. Do not marry him.” he says with queit voice looking at me deeply. He breaks away from the door where he was leaning from the beginning and he comes slowly towards me but i stop him raising my arms between us. “Don’t.” i bite my lips fighting the urge to cry or laugh in despair, i do not know. I am unable to move, i remain in silence searching for the right words to say. Just the Angel know how long have i waited for him to say these words, i can not believe it. He is here, in front of me and he just said he has feelings for me. I should burst with happiness but i feel terrible. What i have done? We are interrupt by the knock on the door. “Y/N you are in there? James Blackwine has arrived, come to meet him. We will wait for you in my office.” i hear Maryse from the order side of the door. “Ok.” i say and she walked away. I look at Jace and he shaking his head at me. “No.” “I waited years to hear this from you, but now i can not turn back Jace. I always had feelings to you, but you never noticed. It is too late and that’s fine, i am not good to you. You are you, hansome and perfect.” waving my hands toward him. “And i am…a mess.” i smile sadly dropping my arms. I start to go to the door when he takes my arm and makes me turn until we are face to face. “You do not know want you do to me every day, you are the reason i wake up every morning and that gives me the strength to give my best. You are more than good enough. I should have told you sonner, we could have avoided all this…Are you really sure about this?” he try to look in my eyes but i am having truble to look at him. “Yes.” i lie, i escape from his grasp and quickly get out of his room before he can grab me again. I run to my room where i try to calm down and give me a settled before meeting my future. I wash my face, fix my hair, i put a fake smile on and i get out of my room.

A look at the Superman logo over the years

The Superman logo is one of the most iconic superhero logos out there.

It was the first one to appear on t-shirts, setting the trend of featuring superhero logos on t-shirts, bags, and more.

This is a tribute to the success of the designers of the Superman symbol, Jerry Sigel, and Joe Shuster.

They wanted the Superman logo to resemble a cross between a police badge and a diamond. The first element was meant to be a symbol of the hero’s desire to protect, while the second was a symbol of his invincibility.

These two aspects came together with the famous S letter to create a bright and recognizable sign that has remained fundamentally recognizable despite a number of stylistic changes over the years. Let’s take a look at the Superman logo and break down its history and why it has worked, as well as hat changes it has gone through.

The Basics of the Superman Logo

Shape

The shape of the Superman logo, while best known as a diamond, has been changed several times over the course of its history. When Superman first appeared in 1938, the logo was yellow and shield-shaped with a red letter S in the middle.

It varied from that point forward for the next several editions. It was in 1940 that it was converted to a clear diamond shape the first time. This diamond shaped shield with an S featured in its center has remained the basic shape and look of the Superman logo ever since.

Color

Superman has almost always had a red and yellow logo since his creation. In his first few comic appearances, the logo would switch back and forth between being yellow on red and red on yellow.  When the logo was first changed to its diamond shape, this was changed briefly, as well, and the red S sat on a black diamond that was outlined in yellow.

It then returned to its familiar color scheme. There have been a few other times when the colors were changed around.  In 1948, the logo switched to a black S on a white background for the run of a single series. In 1966, it was swapped to red on black for a single series.

It underwent a quick but very large change when Superman gained electronic powers, become white on blue. Even with all these swaps and variations, the Superman logo always returned to its original, classic color scheme.

Superman’s iconic S is not a font, but instead a custom design. The style of the letter will vary a bit depending on who the artist is. Sometimes you’ll see the S take on a more rounded shape so that it resembles a figure-8 or an infinity symbol.

Other times it looks more like an angular slash of three lines. A lot of this depends on the overall style and tone of the comic, as well as the preference and abilities of the artist drawing it. The overall shape will always be the same, however: a clear, stylized letter S.

The History of the Superman Logo

The Beginning: Action Comics 1, 1938

Superman was first featured in Action Comics 1. This heralded the beginning of the Golden Age of comic books and was the birth of the most recognizable superhero to appear on both large and small screens.

The path from the beginning of Superman and his logo to their modern widespread recognition was not an easy one. There were a lot of problems, both small and large.

The original shield design underwent several variations during the first three years of Superman comics. It settled on a consistent design in Action Comics #7.

The real break for the Superman character and the Superman emblem came in 1941, just three years after the character’s first release. Paramount became interested in producing a set of animated short films to show in theaters before new movies.

Max and Dave Fleischer were hired to produce these films and offered with a (for the time) generous budget of $50,000. They made 17 short films under the name of Fleischer Studios and Famous Studios.

These movies ran between eight and nine minutes. They did not have a single supervillain-the now-familiar Lex Luthor had only appeared a year before in 1940, but was not screened—but instead featured a number of different threats to Metropolis: giant robots, mad scientists, volcanoes, earthquakes, gangsters, a giant gorilla, and a giant lizard (which was not Godzilla, but instead preceded the King of Monsters by a full 10 years).

These were the first steps to the nearly universal recognition of the Superman logo and character.

It was in these first short films that the look of the Superman emblem started to become cemented, as well as the attitude of the character and the real power of the Superman mythos. He became widely known, a representative of the ideals of “truth, justice, and the American way.”

After the success of these animated short films, it was decided that the character deserved a more ambitious production. In 1948, a four-hour film series called “Superman” was made. It consisted of 15 episodes, each about 15 to 20 minutes long, each with a cliffhanger ending.

This series was hugely popular and gave rise to another movie, called “Atom Man vs. Superman,” which was released in 1950. While the acting and visual effects were a long way from perfect, these features were the first real, live-action adaptations of Superman or of any comic book, really. That cemented their place if Superman, comic book, film, and cultural history forever.

A Long Road to 1978

Alexander Salkind, his son, and partner Pierre Spengler purchased the right to a full-length adaptation of the Superman comics in November of 1974. They planned on making two films right away and releasing them within a small span of time in order to save on overall production costs.

This led them to rush in making many choices about the films, including the choices of a stage direction, screenwriter, and lead actor. The original screenwriter, science fiction writer Alfred Bester, was considered too much of an unknown, so they hired Mario Puzo instead. Guy Hamilton was hired as stage director.

The Salkinds were only interested in hiring celebrities. These actors were often unsuitable for the material due to their star statuses.  Many famous actors were considered for the role of Superman, including some you can’t imagine in the role, from Al Pacino to Dustin Hoffman to Muhammad Ali.

The whole process was slow and tedious. Puzo came up with two scenarios written on 500 pages. Robert Benton, David Newman, and his wife Leslie Newman had to decide that they had to reduce this by any means available.

The scenario was reduced to 400 pages by July 1976. The tone was comedic, similar to the Batman of the 60s. this made it less than suitable to the 1970s because superheroes had come to be expected to be serious and naturalistic.

Pre-production started in Rome and ended right after the commencement. Marlon Brando, who had been selected as the star, found out that he could go on trial there for actions he’d done while shooting “Last Tango in Paris”.

The team then moved to England, only to learn that Hamilton couldn’t stay home for more than 30 days due to tax evasion issues. Either the actor or the stage director had to leave. The choice was obvious.

In January 1977, the producers hired Richard Donner to produce both films, finally setting the film on the right path.

Donner refused to use the current version of the script and hired Tom Mankiewicz to rewrite it. The writers refused to recognize his work, however, so he is just mentioned in the credits as a “creative consultant”.  Puzo, Benton, and Newman were displayed as stage directors.

It was at this point that they decided to find an unknown actor for the leading role, but the process was too slow.

However, in the February of 1977, Christopher Reeve took the role. Shooting began on March 24, 1977. The plan was that filming would only take seven or eight months, but instead, it ended up taking 19.

Donner had no set time frame or budget, resulting in him shooting too much material. In the end, Warner Brothers had to spend an addition $20 million and move the release date out to the winter of 1978.

By October of 1978, the second film was 80% complete, but the studio decided to suspend shooting it and instead focus on finishing the first movie.

At long last, Superman premiered in December 1978, one of a trio of powerful blockbusters. The other two were Star Wars and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. It was rare for a film to succeed like this in the 1970s, but Superman was one of the few that pulled it off.

The film fits the history of the Man of Steel into the standard three acts. Each of these acts belonged to a separate genre. The first act was half an hour, featuring an old-fashioned space opera.

The second act was an hour, harkening back to American cinema of the 1950s with its cozy atmosphere and endless Kansas farm fields. The last act is meant to evoke urban comics, which bury heroism and idealism in the gray street dust.

The film’s only major weakness was the character of Luthor, who was far too annoying. It would appear that there is nothing easier than to return and finish the job.

However, Salkind fired Donner immediately following the film’s triumphant release.

13 Years of Silence

Sonner was replaced by Richard Lester, who reshot everything he possibly could.  There were only radical changes in three moments only: in the beginning, the middle and, the end of the movie.

After Donner and Tom Mankiewicz left the franchise, Superman belonged entirely to the Salkinds as producers, the Newmans as screenwriters, and Lester, the film director.

Unfortunately, the movie they made, Superman 3, was a complete disaster. The scale and serious perception of the material had been erased. All the wit and liveliness of the dialogue had been eradicated.

Following this, the Salkinds sold the rights to Cannon Films. Cannon Films did not prioritize Superman 4 at all, reducing the budget to $15 million. Superman 4 was going to be much more interesting, featuring Superman participating in the nuclear race. Nuclear Man was planned to be an intriguing villain.

But it was not to be. The special effects were so bad that they have earned mockery for decades.

In the early 1990s, two versions of Superman 5 were written by Ilya Salkind, Cary Bates, and Mark Jones. These scenarios covered the death and resurrection of Superman. Christopher Reeve would return to his role as Superman.

However, the project was canceled after Warner Brothers bought the rights and referred them to Jon Peters. After many delays, the Return of Superman was released in June of 2006. It saw some critical and audience success but it simply did not make the money that had been expected.

Man of Steel

During work on The Dark Knight Returns, Goyer thought about restarting the story of Superman and shared this idea with Christopher Nolan.  After a while, Warner Brothers announced that it would be making Man of Steel, directed by Zack Snyder.

This was a whole new adaptation of Superman, completely rethinking the hero. It was also a very commercially successful reboot, earning about $128 million on its first weekend.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Man of Steel was only the beginning. Warner Brothers began the task of producing a DC competitor to the widely celebrated and successful Marvel Cinematic Universe. The first entry was Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. This movie continued the previous one, adding in a larger scale that included space combat and a larger number of characters.

Throughout every iteration of Superman, his logo has remained one of the most key points. It is the number one way to recognize the hero and any media associated with him.

Pot Tourism Era in Las Vegas Poised to Begin

Sin City will launch its latest legal vice by week’s end.

Lines are expected Saturday outside some medical marijuana dispensaries in Las Vegas and other Nevada cities that will begin selling pot for recreational use for the first time since voters approved it in November.

It’s the fastest turnaround from the ballot box to retail sales of any of the seven other states and the District of Columbia where pot is legal.

It comes after an ongoing legal battle over the drug’s distribution created uncertainty but ultimately won’t affect the kickoff.

Here’s a look at what’s expected this week:

WHAT WILL HAPPEN SATURDAY?

Anyone who is 21 with a valid ID can buy up to an ounce of pot, one-eighth of an ounce of edibles or concentrates. State regulators have notified at least 17 retail outlets that they have been approved for recreational sales and as many as 40 could be licensed by Saturday.

Some outlets plan grand opening events at 12:01 a.m., and one in Las Vegas is having a barbecue with raffle drawings. Nevada Dispensary Association President Andrew Jolley isn’t sure what kind of turnout to expect but said, “We are anticipating a lot of very happy customers.”

WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL?

Industry experts predict Nevada’s market will be the nation’s biggest, at least until California plans to begin recreational sales in January.

Nevada sales should eventually exceed those in Colorado, Oregon and Washington state because of the 45 million tourists who annually visit Las Vegas. Regulators anticipate 63 percent of customers will be tourists.

“I don’t think we’ve ever seen anything quite like what Nevada is going to look like just because of the sheer volume of tourism in the state,” said Nancy Whiteman, co-owner of the Colorado-based Wana Brands, which makes edible pot products.

However, it’s not clear how many people know pot is about to be legal. The law bans marijuana advertising on radio, TV or any other medium where 30 percent of the audience is reasonably expected to be younger than 21.

WHERE CAN I LIGHT UP?

It’s illegal in public places, including parks, sporting events, moving vehicles, casinos, hotels, concerts, festivals and while you’re walking down the street. So is drinking alcohol outdoors on the Las Vegas Strip, which generally isn’t enforced unless someone is causing trouble. It’s not clear yet if pot will be handled similarly.

People have been allowed to use marijuana in private homes since Jan. 1, but there has been nowhere to legally buy it without a medical card. Where you can buy recreational pot will change Saturday, but not where you can smoke it.

Using pot in public can get lead to a $600 ticket. It’s OK to smoke on the front porch of your home, but consumption is prohibited on U.S. property, from national forests to federally subsidized housing.

WHY DO HOTEL-CASINOS BAN POT?

They operate under federal licenses, and the U.S. government outlaws the drug. That means tourists will have a hard time finding a place to use it legally despite being the biggest expected piece of the market.

Legislation to establish marijuana clubs and other places to smoke pot failed this spring but will be revisited by lawmakers in 2019. State Sen. Tick Segerblom, a leader of the legalization push, anticipates worldwide advertising urging tourists to “come to Nevada and smoke pot — so we must provide a place to do so.”

One Denver-based entrepreneur already has set up cannabis-friendly condos just off the Las Vegas Strip that allow pot smoking but not cigarettes. There’s also a “Cannabus” tour that offers riders a peek inside dispensaries, a grow facility and a swag bag filled with rolling papers and other gifts.

The drug’s potency is much higher than stuff sold on the streets a couple of decades ago. Edibles are the biggest concern because the effects can sneak up on pot newbies, who may take too much without realizing they are slowly getting high.

All packaged edibles, from gummies to brownies, must carry labels warning that the intoxicating effects may be delayed for two hours or more and that users should initially eat a small amount.

WHAT ABOUT THE LEGAL BATTLE?

A court order has denied pot distribution licenses to anyone other than the alcohol industry, which the state intends to appeal. The ballot measure passed by voters says liquor wholesalers have the exclusive right to transport marijuana from growers to retailers, the only legal pot state with such an arrangement.

But existing dispensaries can sell their stockpiled inventory for recreational use until they run out, with most thinking they can last three weeks or longer. That means retail stores could have a supply shortage as August approaches.

By then, however, the state should have issued at least some distribution licenses to alcohol wholesalers.

“I get the sense that most, if not all, dispensaries will have sufficient inventory to serve retail customers until distributors are up and running,” Nevada Dispensary Association President Andrew Jolley said.

Pot Tourism Era in Las Vegas Poised to Begin

Sin City will launch its latest legal vice by week’s end.

Lines are expected Saturday outside some medical marijuana dispensaries in Las Vegas and other Nevada cities that will begin selling pot for recreational use for the first time since voters approved it in November.

It’s the fastest turnaround from the ballot box to retail sales of any of the seven other states and the District of Columbia where pot is legal.

It comes after an ongoing legal battle over the drug’s distribution created uncertainty but ultimately won’t affect the kickoff.

Here’s a look at what’s expected this week:

WHAT WILL HAPPEN SATURDAY?

Anyone who is 21 with a valid ID can buy up to an ounce of pot, one-eighth of an ounce of edibles or concentrates. State regulators have notified at least 17 retail outlets that they have been approved for recreational sales and as many as 40 could be licensed by Saturday.

Some outlets plan grand opening events at 12:01 a.m., and one in Las Vegas is having a barbecue with raffle drawings. Nevada Dispensary Association President Andrew Jolley isn’t sure what kind of turnout to expect but said, “We are anticipating a lot of very happy customers.”

WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL?

Industry experts predict Nevada’s market will be the nation’s biggest, at least until California plans to begin recreational sales in January.

Nevada sales should eventually exceed those in Colorado, Oregon and Washington state because of the 45 million tourists who annually visit Las Vegas. Regulators anticipate 63 percent of customers will be tourists.

“I don’t think we’ve ever seen anything quite like what Nevada is going to look like just because of the sheer volume of tourism in the state,” said Nancy Whiteman, co-owner of the Colorado-based Wana Brands, which makes edible pot products.

However, it’s not clear how many people know pot is about to be legal. The law bans marijuana advertising on radio, TV or any other medium where 30 percent of the audience is reasonably expected to be younger than 21.

WHERE CAN I LIGHT UP?

It’s illegal in public places, including parks, sporting events, moving vehicles, casinos, hotels, concerts, festivals and while you’re walking down the street. So is drinking alcohol outdoors on the Las Vegas Strip, which generally isn’t enforced unless someone is causing trouble. It’s not clear yet if pot will be handled similarly.

People have been allowed to use marijuana in private homes since Jan. 1, but there has been nowhere to legally buy it without a medical card. Where you can buy recreational pot will change Saturday, but not where you can smoke it.

Using pot in public can get lead to a $600 ticket. It’s OK to smoke on the front porch of your home, but consumption is prohibited on U.S. property, from national forests to federally subsidized housing.
