One of the things about Umineko that makes me batshit crazy is how Natsuhi, in a really twisted way, reflects what Shannon is setting herself up for. Shannon is convinced that things will be ok if she takes the "safe" option (George)-- she can and will learn to love everything that means, because this is the best she can hope for as a woman in her situation

She'll be that teenage bride, she'll cling to her husband and his white-picket-fence fantasy, even if she knows those feelings might change when he realizes she cannot be the woman he wants. She'll doom herself to the life of an infertile housewife, give up on everything and everyone she's ever known to be with someone who may love her but will never truly understand her. She will learn to love being an Ushiromiya because that's all that's left for her to do. Shannon is convinced she's telling us a love story, but Natsuhi shows us how it ends
