Oh boy...the last thing anyone needed in the Jungle Kingdom was for Bowser to develop a conspiracy theory on how they were all planning on turning him into turtle soup in the hot springs. Keeping that in mind, as much as he really didn't want to tip the other off to some possibly kingdom-leveling rage, DK flinched when he felt claws against scar tissue hidden ever so cleverly under his fur. The bite had been vicious, and it still wasn't even fully healed up yet, so the twinge of sting made him flinch slightly as his hand reached up to ... scoot the claw back slightly and favor capping it with his palm so at least the pointy bit didn't bother him as it busied itself about the area.

The light in his stomach seemed to pulse a warning - a shiver of sorts that couldn't decide whether or not DK needed shielding or if he was enjoying himself in some kind of way that surely others would not. As it flashed brighter and brighter still, the calm of the night air seemed to intensify to the point where even DK in his position couldn't help but relax against the Koopa's side with a content sigh. It was a nice night, after all.

"Mmgh?" As the grind of Koopa shell spikes scraped rock, DK rode a small wave up and down as Bowser's weight shifted the density of the pool once more. With fingers clinging to the front of the other's chest, he climbed up it to find a grip on the rock once more and yanked himself up towards it only to have his efforts scooted back a ways as his company captured his waist momentarily. A growl followed, though he didn't mind pressing his stomach against the other's flank momentarily to show the light flicker wasn't a vicious shield that would burn him yet.

"Well...I'll be sure to pass it on to you through the water here then." He added sweetly, eyes batting as he scooted through relaxing fingers and clambered back up onto the rock face. With a pause on all fours, he gave a vigorous shake, sending water droplets Bowser's way.

"Ehh, you worry too much. Paranoid, much?"

oh im so uncreative with this because my brain cannot seem to unstick from the first time i saw his tail at my ritual. i fucking love the aerodynamics of it, i love that it occasionally will bounce off his shins when he walks or if he turns too fast, it’ll get some air time and flow behind him and gently tap against his side. i love his tail to death, i love the fact that it’s hangs off the bones on his robe and isn’t just sewn flatly to it, it gives it SO much personality and is genuinely my favourite look of his because of how much joy that stupid skeletal tail brings me

but in a fictional sense? i recently learned abt how rats’ tails can be degloved and i really like to imagine that (assuming his tail would be a part of pet’s anatomy) a similar thing happened to him and the exposed bone is a result of an injury that he now just puts on very brazen display. with it missing muscles, i don’t think he would have as much control over it, so i can’t imagine it would really be something he could actively move (sorry tailjob truthers), but just having it limp and lifelessly hanging onto his body is good enough for him. it’s not everyday one see such harrowing deformities, so he may as well own it.
