@enchcntd | ❝ i missed the sound of your voice. ❞ spencer @ patrick THE    FIVE    SENSES   /     SENTENCE    STARTERS  .
---
The confession comes as a surprise and the surprise with an od wave of guilt. Of course. He’d made it a habit to call in at least once a day, whether he’ll be at home in the evening or not, and if he was out of town and couldn’t guarantee he’d be at the dinner table, he’d call more than that, twice for sure, thrice if he can help, adamant to catch every goodnight and not miss a single good morning.
Somehow, it had slipped him today. Well, more than him having actively forgotten about it, which wasn’t a possibility, it seemed as though the day had worked against him, and he’d only managed to reach out to Spencer when he’d already returned to their place. Add that to having had to head out before Spencer had even been awake that morning and Patrick can only stand there, wide-eyed. For a moment he looks like a child who doesn’t know what to do now that mummy is sitting at the kitchen table and crying, how can he make things better?
Fingers already intertwined, Patrick lifts their joint hands until he can kiss the back of Spencer’s, guilt-filled blue never leaving chocolate brown. “I’m so sorry,” he whispers against his skin, pulling him closer until he can press his lips against Spencer’s instead. He leaves a chaste kiss there, then begins leaving a trail of them on every inch of skin of his face he can cover. “I’ll talk to you all night if you’d like to make up for it. And I promise it won’t happen again.”

Lucifer — The Would-Be Prince of Darkness {Sentence Starters} | @enchcntd
---
“Hm?”
It’s like snapping out of a dream, one that somehow only included the sight of his bared arms resting atop of his knees, and whatever memories he was replaying. He doesn’t even remember where his train of thought had been headed to, what had even started it, what he was even planning on doing prior to forgetting his surroundings and locking himself up in his own head.
Now, though, not foreign to this specific state of mind, Patrick looks up, blinking up at Spencer with relaxed features. His breathing is calm and gentle, chest heaving as if he was asleep. His hands feel comfortable in the way he’s holding them and not a muscle in his body seems to really want any more attention than the others.
He’s calm. The reason he is, though, makes it a strange reaction. But he smiles, he smiles, easy and just a tad bit hollow, while his eyes take care of delivering what gentleness he’s capable of showing right now, to the one person it’s designed for.“Maybe!” He states, easily, as if he isn’t implying that the chance of him ripping through his skin and having the blood in his veins literally begin to boil, is quite high.“But I need these memories, you know,” he explains, softly almost.“I need to know whether you and I have met before Edward or not... And the further back I go, the more I push against Gleipnir.”

THE BEST MOVIE MOMENTS OF 2018:
HONORABLE MENTION:
The Opening/Closing Credits from BUDDIES
I’m putting this as honorable mention because this is an older movie recently rereleased.
The first film about the AIDS Crisis, Buddies strikes at the heart with its opening credits with a typed list of AIDS victim up to 1985. Set to a mournful score by Jeffrey Olmstead, the never ending list of lives cut short puts you in tears.
Alex Honnold faces Boulder Problem in FREE SOLO
Most thrillers can only wish they could be as gripping as in the moment when Alex Honnold maneuver’s his way through the most challenging section of El Capitan Wall without rope in this Documentary.
Ray Offers Wisdom from Mid90s
“If you looked in anybody else’s closet, you wouldn’t trade your shit for their shit.”
Ray (Na-kel Smith) and his friends may not be the best role models for the impressionable Stevie (Sunny Suljic), but in this moment, Ray teaches him a lesson in perspective.
Glenn Close’s performance in THE WIFE
I’m not referring to any moment. Just Glenn Close’s acting. She speaks more volumes with her face than most actresses could with dialogue.
10)        The Beach Scene from ROMA
Cleo (Yalitza Aparicio) is an extraordinary woman. Sure, her life hanging towels and cleaning dog poo doesn’t seem like anything special. But like many lower working-class people, she endures. Boy does she endure a lot of shit in this movie. Not only does her deadbeat boyfriend ditch her to practice martial arts, but her baby is born dead. Despite all this, she not only continues her work, but she shares a close bond with the family. She showcases this bond and her strength when a fun day at the beach goes horribly wrong.
When Paco (Carlos Peralta) and Sofi (Daniela Demesa) swim too far out, Cleo walks into the ocean to save them despite not knowing how to swim. We watch in dread as she faces severe waves to find the kids, the camera always close to her.
This scene also contains a beautiful scene of the family hugging Cleo when she tears up over losing her baby. Seeing them all huddled together in front of a bright white sun captures the heart.
9)         “A Place Called Slaughter Race” from RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET
Admit it, it’s fun to take pot shots at Disney Tropes. Hell, even Disney gets in on the fun. And boy do they seize on every moment to mock Princess tropes when Vanellope Von Shweetz (voiced by Sarah Silverman) encounters the Disney Princesses. Of course, it helps that Director Rich Moore and Head of Story Jim Reardon creates some of the best episodes of the Simpsons. Though there are many hilarious moments[1], none can hold the candle to Vanellope’s “I Want” song.
As she reflects over a puddle, Vanellope sings about her longing to be in the gritty game “Slaughter Race.” Seeing this little girl perform this lighthearted musical number over a background of riots and dumpster fires is comedy gold. Nearly every element of this number elevates the comedy, from singing shark (with cats and dogs in its mouth) to the creative lyrics (“Am I a baby pigeon spreading wings to soar?/ Is that a metaphor?/Hey, there’s a dollar store”). And the number still finds time to emphasize Vanellope’s fear of hurting Ralph (John. C Reilly).
Kudos to Alan Menken for mocking the trope he (and the late Howard Ashman) introduced to Disney. Just as deserving of Kudos is Silverman, who faced to task of singing in Vanellope’s high pitched voice.
8)         Charlie Loses Her Head from HEREDITARY
With her unusual hobbies, connection to her late grandmother and that clicking sound, you’d assume Annie’s (Toni Collette) daughter Charlie (Milly Shapiro) would be the centre of the whole film.[2] Boy, were we in for a surprise.
Spoilers!
When Charlie suffers a peanut allergy reaction, Peter (Alex Wolfe) races her home. On his drive, he sees a mysterious figure in the middle of the dark road. In his attempt to dodge it, he doesn’t see Charlie hanging out the window. Seeing her head slam right into a pole leaves us as traumatized as Peter is. To see them kill off a main character so early in the film is downright shocking. With this death, predictability goes right out the window and we are left uncertain of what direction this film will go.
7)         Neil Armstrong Soars in the X-15 Rocket Plane in FIRST MAN
It’s funny how the most exciting scene in this film isn’t the moon landing. Don’t get me wrong, the scene’s still breathtaking in its realism, but it’s surprising how thrilling the opening scene.
Damien Chazelle hits the ground running with Neil Armstrong (Ryan Gosling) soaring the atmosphere in an X-15 Rocket Plane. He soars higher and higher into the skies until he flies out of earth’s surface and gets stuck in space
Albeit, you know he will be back on earth in time for the moon landing. And yet, I found myself on the edge of my seat, wondering how he’s going to get back to earth. Most of it is thanks to the visual effects, which contains some of the most believable since 2001: A Space Odyssey. The effects leave CGI in the dust with practical effects that look so real, you’d think Gosling was actually flying into space.
6)         The Ferris Wheel Scene from LOVE, SIMON
High School Movies are home to many unforgettable romantic scenes. There’s Samantha (Molly Ringwald) and Jake (Michael Schoeffling) standing over a birthday cake in Sixteen Candles. There’s Patrick (Heath Ledger) singing to Katarina (Julia Stiles) on the bleachers in 10 Things I hate About You. And who can forget Lloyd Dobler (John Cusack) blaring Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes” outside Diane Court’s (Ione Skye) in Say Anything. Be ready to include the closing scene of Simon (Nick Robinson) waiting on the Ferris wheel for online pen pal Blue from Love, Simon.
After being outed by a student, infuriating his friends for deceiving them in his attempt to stay closeted and abandoned by Blue, Simon makes a plea to meet with Blue face to face on the Ferris Wheel at a carnival. As he rides on the Ferris Wheel, he, fellow classmates and the audience wait in anticipation for Simon’s happy ending.
5)         The Book Heist from AMERICAN ANIMALS
When Spencer Reinhard (Barry Keoghan) and Warren Lipka (Evan Peters) plotted to steal extremely valuable books from the Transylvania University library in Kentucky, they thought they had the perfect heist. With the help of their friends Erick Borsuk (Jared Abrahamson) and Chas Allen (Blake Jenner), they thought they pull off a heist as smooth as Oceans 11.[3]
But reality hits them like a sledge hammer when they try to pull off the heist. Unlike their dreams, Librarian Betty Jean Gooch (Ann Dowd) doesn’t get knocked out with one taser jolt. It also isn’t easy to lug a six-foot book down a flight of stairs. Then there’s the fact the basement has no exit. That’s just a few of many problems they never consider. From then on, we witness them pay a huge price for their hubris and lack of real-world understanding.
Only youths as smart as they are to come up with such a stupid plan.
4)         The Mutant Bear from ANNIHILATION
Biologist Lena (Natalie Portman) and her team find themselves in a quite a bind. After entering the Shimmer, physicist Josie Radek (Tessa Thompson) has barely survived an attack from a mutant alligator and Anthropologist Cassie Sheppard (Tuva Novotny) has been attacked by a bear. Now paramedic Anya Thorensen (Gina Rodriguez) has gone mad and has tied up Lena, Radek and Dr. Ventress (Jennifer Jason Leigh). But when they hear Sheppard’s cries for help, they will soon find Anya is the least of their worries.
Their journey delivers many grotesque, nightmare inducing visuals (especially the slithering intestines.) But the most memorable moment in this film was the image of the helpless crew trapped in a cabin with a mutant bear. Bears are scary enough on their own, but a faceless one is pants spitting meeting. And then you hear it imitate Sheppard’s screams and suddenly you need a new pair of pants.
3)         The Great Snap from AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR
The whole Marvel Cinematic Universe had been leading up to this moment. The fact that nearly every character had a moment to shine in this one movie demonstrates the astounding direction of the Russo Brothers. But despite all the epic fight scenes, everyone agrees that this film’s greatest scene is the heroes moment of defeat.
Despite every effort made to stop in, despite outnumbering Thanos and despite Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) sacrificing Vision (Paul Bettany) to destroy the mind stone, Thanos still got all the infinity stones. And with a single snap, Thanos succeeds in wiping out half the universe’s population. One by one, we watch many of our heroes vanish into dust while others watch in helpless horror. But none are more heartbreaking that the moment when Spider-Man (Tom Holland) falls into Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr.) arms, crying “I don’t want to go.” All because some characters couldn’t make the sacrifice needed
Yes, we knew he was going to succeed in the end.[4] And yes, you know most of the heroes won’t stay gone.[5] And yes, their return will likely involve the surviving heroes sacrificing themselves.[6] But the ending still feels powerful despite this knowledge.
It all concludes with Thanos sitting near a cottage, content in his triumph. If the MCU ended here, it would have been a perfect ending. But I’m still curious to see how this will go.
2)         The Closing Close-Up in CAPERNAUM
The closing image of Zain’s (Zain Al Rafeea) face will haunt you beyond the closing credits. Throughout the film, we’ve seen this kid struggle through hell on the streets of Lebanon, trying to protect his sister from their resentful parents and helping an Ethiopian Migrant Worker take care of her son. But when he’s sent to prison for assaulting a pimp who bought his sister, he decides to sue his parents for the crime of bringing him into this miserable world. Writer/director Nadine Labaki never looks away for a second to the brutality of Zain’s world and how it brings out the worst in Zain.
When the film freezes to the image of Zain smiling for a Passport photo, your heart breaks for him as Khaled Mouzanar’s haunting score plays out.
1)         Tish and Fonny’s Walk Through the Park in IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK
No other opening scene has done a better job of putting its audience under its spell than when loving couple Tish (Kiki Layne) and Alfonzo “Fonny” Hunt (Stephan James) stroll through a park holding hands.
There’s beauty in every element of this scene, from Nicholas Britell’s romantic score to the warm looks in the character’s eyes. But what really sells it is James Laxton’s lush cinematography. The colours pop through the yellows and blues on the couple’s clothes and the green of the grass. You are as in love with this couple as they are for each other.
Then the film cuts to Tish visiting Fonny in prison, this time the yellow is the prison, the blue is Fonny’s jumpsuit and the green is on Tish’ outfit. From then one, we know why their love is worth fighting for.
[1] Mostly at the expense of Ariel (Jodi Benson)
[2] Especially when she appears so prominently in the advertisements.
[3] As indicated by a fantasy sequence.
[4] Since we know this was going to be a two parter.
[5] Especially when there are already planned sequels to Black Panther, Spider-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy. After all the money Marvel’s got from Black Panther? They’re not going to give up that meal ticket.
[6] What with Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans retiring their characters.

CANTLON'S CORNER" AHL WEIGHING IT'S FUTURE AND ASSORTED HOCKEY NOTES
Tumblr media
BY: Gerry Cantlon, Howlings HARTFORD, CT - The future isn’t what it seems to be. With the entire world still trying to find its footing in the face of the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus that began in Wuhan, China, the hockey world is not any different. The AHL is weighing out its options in terms of how long it can wait.  The ECHL, the Double AA affiliate, the SPHL (Southern Professional Hockey League), and the FPHL (Federal Prospects Hockey League), which the Danbury Hat Tricks play in and are both single-A level leagues, all ended their seasons quickly last weekend because their economic model demanded it. The ECHL teams pay the player's salaries, roughly 95% of them. The teams have about three-to-five NHL team's contracted players on their rosters. In turn, most players are paying their own housing costs. Many players are on modified rental housing contracts, approximately six-to-eight months, but if there are no games, no revenue, and no insurance, which applies in this situation and can only go so far, and the question remains, when would those payments be seen? The AHL is on a different model altogether. There is a mixture of contractual arrangements, five total NHL one-way, and two NHL two-way deals. Then there are AHL contracts plus PTO and ATO deals. Steering and navigating this broad array of unknowns fall upon team player reps who consult with Larry Landon, the head of the AHLPLA, and with outgoing AHL President and CEO, Dave Andrews, and likely the incoming President, Scott Howson. The other partner for the AHL is, naturally, the NHL and NHLPLA. They're all joined together in many facets. Vincent LoVerde is the AHL player rep for the Hartford Wolf Pack. Late last week he and 30 other AHL reps were in conference with Landon and the AHL. Loverde was not made available for comment by the team. The league issued a statement early in the week that a May 1st date is the latest benchmark to review the situation in regards to the CDC, USA, and the Canadian government directives if play could be resumed. Last week all players on PTO and ATO deals were released. That also includes Robbie Payne, who was signed to a PTO deal from the Adirondack Thunder (ECHL) but didn’t get into a game for the Wolf Pack. Steven Fogarty was returned from his one-game emergency recall. Interestingly, if the NHL season resumes, so would the AHL. The Rangers will have to use their last emergency recall just prior to the resumption of play. The Rangers' Brendan Lemieux was suspended for a yet-to-be-determined number of games that would lead to the recall. So with the mutual consent to a formal closing of the Canadian border this week, the AHL decision to send players home was a wise course of action. European players have a bit more complicated issue with travel bans in place to return to Europe. The question arises would they need to apply for emergency visas and work out living arrangements, and what would be the responsibility of the team to house them? Ex-Sound Tiger Sean Bentivoglio has hung up the skates retiring from the Cardiff Devils (Wales-EIHL). XL CENTER As of now, all events at the XL Center are canceled and the building is closed for business until April 30th. As first reported earlier this week, the ice has been taken down, a sure sign that hockey is finished for 2019-2020. But then again, these days anything can happen. “We will remain closed," said Michael W. Freimuth executive director of the CRDA which oversees the building. "We have had events canceled to that date and beyond at this point. We have had some for May and June, but others are holding dates as of now. We're going day-by-day just like everyone else,” The rumors of a change in the recently passed bonding package being imperiled or that the building would be used as a triage center in the event of a deep escalation in patients, Freimuth assertively said were not the case. “The bonding that was passed remains as is and there is no talk whatsoever of using the XL Center in that capacity at all.” The installation of the new chiller system is still a go, and the project will be completed this summer as originally planned. A bidder has been selected and a contract is currently being negotiated. There's hope to have an announcement next month. COLLEGE HOCKEY The 2020 Hobey Baker Award finalists were announced. Rangers draft pick, Morgan Barron, a junior leads the Class of ten players who will be considered. With college play ended, the number #1 ranked Cornell Big Red didn’t get to play in the national tournament with Barron and his teammates. Barron, who Cantlon‘s Corner first reported had changed his major at school, so now is unlikely to be leaving Cornell until he gets his degree, despite the Rangers' desire for him to be in a Wolf Pack uniform for the 2020-21 season. He was named ECACHL Player of the Year and was on the first team All-Conference team. Jason Cotton, Sacred Heart University Pioneers (AHA) is also on the list. Jeremy Swayman, the goalie at Maine, was also among the ten players to sign a professional deal. The netminder signed with the Boston Bruins this week. Four of the ten announced nominees are from Hockey East. The final three under consideration will be announced on April 3rd with the Hobey Baker winner on April 10th. Swayman was the Hockey East Player of the Year. The Rookie of the Year was BC’s Alex Newhook. In 24 games, Newhook had 15 goals and 33 points and was plus-25. Dennis ”Red” Gendron, a one-time Yale assistant coach, who's in his seventh season at Maine, was named the Conference Coach of the Year. The All-Conference teams were announced. BC freshmen Spencer Knight (Darien/Avon Old Farms) was on the second team. UCONN’s senior, Wyatt Newpower, also earned second-team honors in a real breakout year tallying 22 points in 34 games and finishing with a plus-23. Junior Tyce Thompson (Orange/Salisbury Prep) of Providence College, the youngest son of ex-Pack, and current Bridgeport Sound Tiger head coach, Brent Thompson, was also named to the second team. On the Conference's third team and in the strongest position, was Rangers draft pick, goalie Tyler Wall of UMASS-Lowell. Freshmen, Trevor Zegras (Avon Old Farms), was named to the team as well. He had a great WJC tourney for the US this year. ECACHL All-Conference team winners that were included on the second-team were Yale’s Curtis Hall, Odeen Tufto of Quinnipiac University, and Jack Drury (Harvard University), the son of ex-Hartford Whaler, Ted Drury and the nephew of Hartford Wolf Pack GM, Chris Drury. On the third team, was Peter Diliberatore, also of Quinnipiac University. The rate of college player signings has been dramatically curtailed. As of today, only 39 Division 1 players and 49 players total have signed. Division III signings, a lifeblood of the ECHL, have come to a complete standstill. Things have picked up a little over the last several days. On Friday, the Rangers signed 6’7, 230 lb. forward, Anthony Rueschoff, a junior from the Western Michigan Broncos (NCHC). He inked a two-year, two-way, entry-level deal. Rueschoff had 35 goals and 70 points in 105 collegiate games. With that size imagine that frame on a power play unit parked in front of a goaltender. Patrick Harper (New Canaan/Avon Old Farms) also signed a two-year, two-way, NHL entry-level deal with the Nashville Predators after he completed four years with the Boston University Terriers. Harper captured Hockey East conference third-team honors after having his best year with 14 goals and 37 points. In 128 games with the Terriers, he had 41 goals and 115 points. He will likely start next season with the Milwaukee Admirals. Last week, the Rangers inked defenseman K’Andre Miller, a sophomore from Wisconsin who will be a 2020-21 member of the Wolf Pack. Congrats to Walker Harris of the Wesleyan University Cardinals (NESCAC). He was named the Joe Concannon Award winner for the best American born New England player Division II/III with 13 goals and 33 points in 28 games. The Cardinals were 15-11-1 and captured their first NESCAC regular season title and qualified for the post-season for the first time. In 105 games over four years he had 50 goals and 58 assists for 108 points and was a First Team All Star. He was among five finalists including Trinity College’s Barclay Gammill for the 20th edition of the award named after long-time Boston Globe writer Joe Concannon who passed way in 2001. The draft for the five major junior leagues in the US and Canada, as of now, should go on as planned. It would be among the few bits of hockey business that can be conducted during this unique time period because it doesn’t require a crowd unlike the NHL Draft. WHL will have its first-ever US Prospects Draft of two rounds. It will be held on March 25th and the Bantam Draft for Canadian players in Red Deer, Alberta comes on May 7th. Players eligible for the 2020 WHL U.S. Prospects Draft will be 2005-born players who reside in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. The OHL Priority Draft is already held remotely is set on Saturday, April 4. USHL Phase I Futures Draft is slated for May 4th and Phase II Draft the next day May 5th. The combines are tentatively scheduled for next month. The NAHL Draft will be held June 2nd. The QMJHL Draft will be held on June 6th. In a press release on Thursday, for the first time it will be done remotely. It was originally scheduled to be held in Sherbrooke at the Sports de Palais Arena. The league also conducts a separate US QMJHL Draft with players from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Vermont. The NHL Draft is marked for Friday and Saturday, June 26th-27th in Montreal. Jason Marsella (Greenwich/Avon Old Farms), a Yale University (ECACHL) 2021-22 commit will play next year for the Penticton Vees (BCHL). KHL PLAYOFFS The Russians have bowed to reality and suspended the Gagarin Cup playoffs until April 10th and are looking to develop a new yet announced format. Down to six teams, after two bowed out after the opening round wins in Barys Kazakh from Kazakhstan and Jokerit Helsinki of Finland. Jokerit’s leading playoff scorer is ex-Pack Niklas Jensen (6-3-4-7). They also have former Pack, Steve Moses, ex-Sound Tigers' Jesse Joensuu, and former Yale Bulldog Brian O’ Neill. The six remaining teams are Barys Astana from Kazakstan, Dynamo Minsk from Belarus the rest are from Russia in SKA St. Petersburg, CSKA Moscow, Salavat Yulaev, and Sibir Novosibirsk. Ex-Ranger Ryan Spooner, Rangers training camp invitee way back in the fall, Joe Morrow, and ex-Sound Tiger, Shane Prince are on Dynamo Minsk and SKA St. Petersburg has ex-Pack goalie Magnus Hellberg. @enchcntd | ❝ i don’t want to leave yet. ❞ spencer @ patrick, mayhaps like 6 months into dating?? a list of don’t sentence starters
---
It was still extremely difficult... to accept how easy it was. Having Spencer in his space like this should make him want to grab all the few belongings he actually cares about, shove them deep into a bag that has seen better days, and make a run for the hills, his back the only thing he’d hope Spencer would remember years from now, should the image of him ever cross his mind again.
As painful as it would probably have been for the younger male, it was an urge that Patrick always fulfilled, and often the people he left behind and ran away from weren’t even involved with him as intimately as Spencer seems intent to.
But here he is. His feet feel jittery as if they can’t bear a second longer than Patrick forces them to stand still. But Patrick continues to. And he can’t for the life of himself figure out why. Why is this young man with the long curly hair and the hurt puppy eyes making him want to stay so badly? Why can’t he figure out whether he’s staying to not hurt him or staying because he wants to?
Tumblr media
He straightens his back from where he’d been hovering over the empty tea mugs. Still somewhat warm from the liquid that had been inside them, they rest lightly in his hands now, as he stares at the male, the expression on insecure features that had somehow found the courage to make a statement Patrick would assume would be considered as bold by the male.
For once, nothing crosses his face. No pretence smile or barely contained reaction. Wide-eyed, stone features, unreadable, guarded. Then he breaks. He looks away as his nose scrunches and the smile slips past and beyond his façade. “Then I should find some more snacks to munch on,” he says, as he turns to gaze down at the younger. His heart hurts somewhat in his chest, but his features betray no such thing, as they gain a gentleness no being in the pantheon would have thought the Fenrisulfr capable of showing.
“Want to watch something while you’re here?”

💬 and ✏️ for spencer?? 👀
— * message prompts | @enchcntd
---
💬 voicemail:
Phone calls seem to be one of those things neither of them really like doing, another item on the list of things Patrick is grateful for, for it makes life easier and showing affection even more so. In fact, the list seems to grow each time he gets to meet Spencer face to face, another item and another thing about Spencer’s gentle nature that allows Patrick to express what he means at his own pace, always motivated by soft smiles and shy glances. But even in spite of all that, sometimes a phone call can’t be helped. And it’s no surprise that in those situations, one of them doesn’t manage to pick up. Leaning back in his chair, toying with the ring on one of his fingers, Patrick waits for the awkward artificial voice on the other end of the line to pass the mic onto him. “Hello, love,” he starts, as soon as he hears the signal allowing him too, smiling despite the lack of audience, “seems like I’ve caught you at a busy time, don’t worry about calling back right away, there’s no emergency. I meant to call and ask if you’d be interested in having a late-night picnic with me tonight? Take your time in thinking it over and let me know if there’s anything specific you’d like me to get on the way back home, if you do feel like it. I hope you didn’t skip lunch and that everything’s been going well in the bookstore, if you’d like me to pass by later, I can make some time, I’d love to, in fact. Either way, I’ll see you tonight. Take care, love you.”
✏️ handwritten note:
The note is left much like anything Patrick does when in direct relation to Spencer: gingerly, with care, as if his interest in Spencer’s well-being was sown into the millions of particles that made a single piece of paper out. His handwriting has always been easy to read, with somewhat elegant turns at the corners of a few letters, so his ‘I love you’s always look as loving as he speaks them. It rests near bowl of soup, still steaming underneath the pan lid he put over it to keep it warm, propped up near the largest cup of water the wolf had managed to find.
Good morning again, dearest, the note reads, you’ve probably stood up now, most likely out of concern that something needs to be done around the house, but I guarantee you, everything is in perfect order and you can continue to rest. I’ve prepared some soup for you and water, please make sure to drink as much of both as possible. I’ve taken Sammy to school and will be back in about 20 minutes, she said she’ll be rooting for you to get better soon, but there’s no rush. Colds take their time and we’ll make sure to look after you. You do the same and try to not overdo it while I’m gone. Sammy has given explicit order to take good care of you and make sure you don’t get sicker, so you have to help me fulfil her wishes. Drink slow and take it easy, Apple has been ordered to keep you company. Love, Patrick.

@enchcntd - “What happens after we die?” spencer @ patrick lost the meme lmao
---
Tumblr media
A moment of stunned silence follows the question, Patrick’s eyes having widened just a fraction to underline his surprise to have a topic like this breached in the first place. Thinking of death isn’t a foreign concept to him, on the contrary, one would think he co-wrote that line in Hamilton considering how often he does think about demise and how much he wants it or, well, doesn’t.
But it’s not something he’s heard Spencer mention a lot, not something Patrick has come to know as part of the younger’s concerns or musings, perhaps late at night, or when nothing else was demanding his attention.
So he falters.
And then he falters some more because- “I don’t really know,” the look in his eyes takes a pensive turn and his focus fades away, inward into the inner machinations of his mind. But they can’t offer an answer either. He knows what happens when he dies, if the ceasing of one life could be even referred to as death, considering his soul moves onto the next in a way one could consider almost muscle memory now.
But Spencer isn’t bound to a dreadful, never-ending existence. He’s human. And as Patrick feels and thinks and speaks and bleeds the same way as any human, he knows as much about death as he would. “Religions and sciences and daydreams all across the globe would give you a different answer. I’ve grown up in beliefs ranging from Heaven and Hell, to nihilism before its name was coined as such. But to know which one is right? Maybe we cease to be. Maybe we turn into stars. Lots of maybes.”
Another moment of silence before the wolf takes a breath and seems to recompose whatever he’d gotten lost in. He smiles. “Why are you wondering about it?”

@enchcntd - 💬 OG's 👀 — send 💬 and my muse will say what they really think about yours.
---
“Oh, I don’t like this game.” The words are uttered in jest, pushed past easily upturned lips, but his eyes lack any amusement as he lifts his head and sends a warning stare. Not quite a glare, for a glare is a sign of insecurity woven into a threat. He doesn’t need to glare to know he can intimidate.
And attempts at glances into his innermost are things he needs to make sure won’t happen all too often. Even if it’s about Spencer.
Or maybe, especially because it’s about Spencer. The answers to that question are too many to count and the vulnerabilities tied to each and every syllable that would make those answers out, are too strong and too private for them to be shared. For them to be acknowledged by the wolf himself.
But if honest he must, honest he shall be. Perhaps a little... short-winded. “Potential. And growth. Spencer is a person who is a great many things, and many great things at once. Talented. And clever.” If his features are starting to soften, they soften in tandem with the lowering of his gaze, as if he’s subconsciously aware, and doesn’t want the world to see that display of affection only the target itself might catch a glimpse of one day. “Adaptable, more than he realises. He’s strong, he always gets back on his feet, even if he can only ever see how he fell beforehand, too focused on his perceived shortcomings to see how greatly he walks into the world and how strongly he defeats it on the daily. He sees mistakes and thinks they are the sole part of his identity, and he fails to do the same with his victories.”
He leans back, sighs, looks at the sky. “He doesn’t like being praised because he doesn’t believe he deserves it, but the belief he might not be good enough, even for those who don’t deserve him, pains him to the point I sometimes imagine to see it in the way he holds himself.”
He tilts his head to the side, brows furrowing pensively. “He’s kind. He’s too kind... is what I would usually say. What I’m still inclined to say. Because I believe kindness is too easily taken advantage of, and people with too much of it should handle it with care, give only pinches, protect their heart as they do it. But Spencer gives, and gives, and gives, and expects nothing in return. Hell, he’ll more likely expect to have to apologise for it later. And that is... it’s strength. It’s... he’s a lot stronger than I am.”
He concludes, locking gazes. “He’s the best of what humankind has to offer. No soldier or royal could come close. And yet all he’d like is safety and warmth, and not even that is granted to him at times. He’s someone I don’t deserve.”
Talk about short-winded.

@enchcntd | 🍻 + “ do you regret letting me close ?” spencer @ patrick 👀 — drunken confession.
---
Tumblr media
A low hum starts at the very back of Patrick’s throat and lasts for a while. Ice blue eyes seem calmly interested in the movement of his own hand, pianist’s index tracing the rim of the glass he’d been lovingly sipping from and refilling for the past however long they’d been enjoying this evening.
It had started out as minor sips, but even the Fenrisulfr enjoys his wine a bit too much now and then - especially if it’s bubbly, he does really enjoy the consumption of some bubbly every other night in, if the occasion is either adored or traumatic enough.
He pulls his hand away, presses chin and cheek against the palm of it as he rests the entire weight of his head on the elbow placed upon the table. “It’s hard to say,” he says, shortly before a lazy smile begins spreading over tipsy lips. Patrick doesn’t get drunk often, but the drunk he turns into is usually of the slow, gentle, sometimes perhaps sad, kind. A tranquillity that can only exist as freely when the ever-burning flame of rage and hurt burning in his heart is turned into nothing but smoke by the steady fall of drops of alcohol onto it.
“Sometimes I wish we never met,” the smile is gone, only to be replaced by uncharacteristically loosened features. “It hurts to think how one day we’ll both die and in 17 years time I’ll be back but you won’t. You’ll just be gone and I can’t ever follow you.”
He sighs and picks his glass up, staring through it and swirling the yellowish bubbles within it around as if doing so might give him the answer to this dilemma that he looks for every day he wakes up next to the other. “It’s also not... pretty what you see when you’re so near to me. I wish I could have spared you meeting me. Perhaps... I could have... helped you with Anthony and then... sent you off, to find a man who... well, is a man for starters,” and he chuckles, eyebrows shooting up as if he’s surprised by the humour he finds in that statement.
He brings the glass to his lips but he doesn’t really think in the silence that presents itself. He doesn’t mind. He won’t forget this moment, but at least it’ll be as fuzzy and blurry as the view of Spencer he has when he’s looking through his glass. Better than nothing.
“Should we watch something?”

@enchcntd - "i’ll stay as long as it takes, as long as you need me." spencer @ patrick the foxman
---
That’s odd. Patrick’s fingers still their movements in the midst of Spencer’s curl, pale pianists digits and survivor’s callouses stopping their untangling and splitting of hair too soft to be in need of either of those things. His empty gaze seems to refocus as it slowly moves to regard the bespectacled writer, his weight in his lap almost as familiar and comforting as the strands of his hair between his finger.
His lower lip slips out from the trap that his teeth had created without him ever noticing and he suddenly realises, he doesn’t remember how much time has passed, or how they’d gotten in this position in the first place. They’re not memories that could ever fade, there’s no escape from his curse and that portion specifically, but it’s almost as if he’s lost his way to them, his path to reaching them as hidden and covered by mist as memories to the boy in the pond.
A shudder cuts through his body, suddenly, causing him to blink and notice he’s looked up once more, as a memory of water shooting into his nostrils and taking up more space than he had to offer makes his features contort into a frown. He snorts, still, closing his eyes, shaking his head to shake the thoughts away. “That might be a lot longer of a time than you first agreed to,” he mumbles, surprised to realise Spencer noticed something was wrong earlier than he did, as he begins to run his fingers through Spencer’s hair again. And even further surprised that he hadn’t shoved the wrongness back down his own throat to keep it from Spencer’s eyes. “How does ‘til death do us part’ sound to you?”

@enchcntd - -glasses on head- ❝Where did I put my glasses?❞ DRUNKEN SPOON @ PAT — drinking starters
---
This might be one of the very few scenarios in which Patrick would dare openly laugh at any of his lover’s mishaps. And the reason for that is that the picture the writer paints, with his outstretched hands that had nearly brushed the tip of Patrick’s nose twice now, is simply too cartoonish, not to mention adorable, for him to deny the laughter bubbling at the back of his throat.
And the wine swimming in his own veins certainly functions as an aid to the freeing of that reaction. Chuckling heartily, Patrick sits there comfortably in a corner of the couch, more lounging than anything else, as he watches Spencer return to his general area to continue on a nearly hopeless quest. He’s got one socked feet propped up on the cushions, the other leg resting under the first, and a half-full wine glass held expertly in his right hand. His left, the free one, performs an action Patrick is equally used to doing and even more fond of.
With another wave of chuckles, he reaches out just in time to grab the front of Spencer’s shirt, at first just to get him to halt. Then he moves up and gently tugs at his collar, pulling him down until he’s close enough that he could kiss the tip of his nose if he wanted to. He can smell the wine on his lips, the fading yet ever-present scent of old books and too many mugs of coffee, and then a scent so unrecognisably Spencer that he almost forgets what he was doing at the first whiff of it.
Then he plucks the glasses off the other’s curls and gingerly puts them on his nose. “Here you go, love,” he mutters, amusement as clear in his voice as the adoration it is laced within. Then he pushes the glasses to sit better, always making sure he’s not actually going to poke a hole into anywhere in his face and, finally, leans in to kiss the tip of his nose. “Spectacles officially and successfully retrieved.”

@enchcntd -  meet the family - spencer @ patrick — send “meet the family” for my muse to introduce yours to a member of my muse’s family.
---
“I have to admit, I’d imagined the States would be a lot worse than this,” Susan’s gaze, as she lets it swipe rather shamelessly over the airport parking lot they’re luckily leaving behind, seems as curious as it harbours very little of the judgment that sentence should have made her hold.
Susan is hardly a judgemental person, but she is aware of how the world works. And she’s especially aware of one simple truth: the bigger the place, the messier it is. Mostly because it gets more difficult to control. And she imagines the grand United States of America to be quite the epitome of that.
Tumblr media
She lifts her sunglasses, throwing an excited grin first at her son, clad as ever in clothes to warm for the sun shining on them, and then at her son’s more-than-betrothed. “Well, Spencer!” She exclaims, stowing her sunglasses away into the bag Patrick is subtly, but insisting, trying to pull out of her grasp. She lets him. Just because she’s busy elsewhere.
She steps closer to her son-in-law, the warmth of a mother dancing in her green, or blue? Or grey? Hard to tell, what the colour of her eyes truly is. It’s certainly bright and beckoning, kind of like an enchanted forest in the most beautiful moment of a spring afternoon. She spreads her arms, smiling gently. “Is it okay if I hug you? I’ve been dying to meet you - and I must say, you have to teach your husband how to take proper pictures because that contact photo doesn’t do you justice - and I’m so glad it’s finally happening.”
Then, with a playful wink, she adds: “Could have happened sooner if it wasn’t for the massive grump I got standing behind me right now.” She leans in, a conspiratory whisper on her lips; her eyes, the shape of her smile, the source of the similar ones you could find on Patrick’s features. “He was growing all this guilt on me for making me get all the way here to meet you when honestly? He should feel guilty for not inviting me sooner.” She leans back, turning around to take her luggage from her son’s hands back, earning a sigh and an eye-roll she pointedly ignores - safe for the playful smack she delivers with the luggage, to his side. “I’m so glad I finally get to meet you,” and her tone is serious and warm now, her expression inviting. “Thank you for taking care of my boy.”

@enchcntd - THE OG GAYS, OFC — ultimate ship meme!
---
Send in two (or more) names and I’ll fill all this out about the ship!
General:
Rate the Ship -   Awful | Ew | No pics pls | I’m not comfortable | Alright | I like it! | Got Pics? | Let’s do it! | Why is this not getting more attention?! | The OTP to rule all other OTPs
How long will they last? - Uh? Forever? Obviously?
How quickly did/will they fall in love? - I wouldn’t say it was love at first sight but it was definitely “good god, this is something”, at first sight (at least for Patrick) so I’m thinking it didn’t take that long, they were infatuated pretty early on, and they both feel Very Strongly, SO HERE THEY ARE
How was their first kiss? - It had the intention to become steamy because at first Patrick thought “yes, this’ll do it, this’ll show him my feelings” but then their lips touched in that random-ass bathroom stall in the men’s toilet at a gala event organised by one Anthony Sullivan, and it was just... slow sparks, it was the “we have to pull away after a literal second because neither of us can believe this is happening and oh god this is what i’ve been missing all my life, isn’t it”
Wedding:
Who proposed? - The absolute idiot that is Patrick Finch (said, of course, affectionately) he just kinda suggested it and well, hey, once you’ve put it out there, all you gotta do is get a ring and PUT IT ON IT because I’m mad Pat didn’t show up with a ring right away >:( but then again, it wasn’t exactly a planned proposal
Who is the best man/men? - We haven’t discussed this yet BUT ALLEN’S DEFINITELY THERE, I don’t know who’d apply for Spencer so feel free to scream the names at me <w< I don’t think either of them would want people who aren’t like, super close to them, though, right?
Who is the braid’s maid(s)? - Not applicable, but to be honest Liv should be IF yknow
Who did the most planning? - Patrick struggled a bit here because he’s used to planning things SOLO (comes from having a naturally strategical mind AND being alone for so long and all the time) but he wouldn’t want to just leave Spencer out of it when he’d know he’d feel bad if he couldn’t participate, so they probably balanced it according to their abilities... And then Pat’s mum Susan flew in and had to be physically restrained by Allen because planning a wedding is on her bucket list and she adores Spencer so she literally is usually sitting there, in a corner, waiting until she can help with something
Who stressed the most? - This would go to Spencer, right? Patrick does his own fair share of stressing on the daily (can’t he rest) but he having Spencer nearby calms him down ALSO because he wants to be calm enough to help Spencer when he’ll start stressing (this is probs the planning only, because I feel like if we’re talking about the idea of marriage itself, Patrick wouldn’t sleep for a week, but I dIGRESS, Allen is here during that period, he’ll smack some sense into him, don’t worry)
How fancy was the ceremony? - Back of a pickup truck | 2 | 3 | 4 | Normal Church Wedding | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Kate and William wish they were this big.
Who was specifically not invited to the wedding? - Anthony Sullivan, Reginald Finch, and Patrick put off inviting Robert until his mother ripped him a new one
Sex:
Who is on top? - They both are... ON TOP OF THE WORLD because they are very deeply in love with one another
Who is the one to instigate things? - They haven’t worked their way up to that topic/situation yet and they both seem fairly comfortable with just letting it rest wherever it may be for a while longer, lmao
How healthy is their sex life? - Well, healthily nonexistent, LEAVE THEM ALONE Barely touch themselves let alone each other | 2 | 3 | 4 | Once a couple weeks, nothing overboard | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | They are humping each other on the couch right now
How kinky are they? - No Straight missionary with the lights off | 2 | 3 | 4 | Might try some butt stuff and toys | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Don’t go into the sex dungeon without a horse’s head
How long do they normally last? - Fellas, I don’t even know if Spencer masturbates, I know Patrick doesn’t even do that, HOW AM I SUPPOSED-
Do they make sure each person gets an equal amount of orgasms? - Hypothetically speaking, because this is literally all we’re doing here (I’m tryna swerve this section, not gonna lie) the answer would be YES, although Patrick would be more inclined to take care of Spencer’s because for obvious reasons
How rough are they in bed? - Softer than a butterfly on the back of a bunny | 2 | 3 | 4 | The bed’s shaking and squeaking every time | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Their dirty talk is so vulgar it’d make Dwayne Johnson blush. Also, the wall’s so weak it could collapse the next time they do it.
How much cuddling/snuggling do they do? - No touching after sex | 2 | 3 | 4 | A little spooning at night, or on the couch, but not in public | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | They snuggle and kiss more often than a teen couple on their fifth date to a pillow factory.
Children:
How many children will they have naturally? - None! Biology doesn’t work that way!
How many children will they adopt? - AT LEAST one, I don’t feel like they’re thinking of adopting another at the moment, BUT DEFINITELY one! Her Royal Highness Samantha Finch
Who gets stuck with the most diapers? - Sammy didn’t use diapers anymore when they adopted her!
Who is the stricter parent? - Patrick! Outwardly! He tries to be! He’s a big softie but he’s also terrified of losing her
Who stops the kid(s) from doing dangerous stunts after school? - BOTH! They’re quite apprehensive BUT at the same time, Patrick believes if a kid’s feet aren’t dirty at the end of the day, have they really lived the day? Falling of a low branch off a tree every so once in a while is okay, it depends entirely on what Sam can handle, because she may be on the spectrum, but he’s not made out of glass neither should she be treated as such, mic drop LMAO
Who remembers to pack the lunch(es)? - Kitchen is Spencer Terrain! Therefore, by extension, SPENCER!
Who is the more loved parent? - She loves them equally for different reasons! You can’t really compare them, because they’re two completely different beings and she adores them for who they are as individuals.
Who is more likely to attend the PTA meetings? - Patrick would make it a habit to be around for them CERTAINLY because he wants not only to be there for Sam, but also for Spencer the first few times, thinking the idea would stress Spencer out. Not to mention, Patrick has a deep-rooted passion within him to go against every and all systems out there, so he’d want to be there right away if the school Fucked Up because that’s his daughter they’re talking about (but he’d also try to get Spencer to come every time because it’d be important to Spencer as well to be there, right?)
Who cried the most at graduation? - To be honest they probably spent 20 minutes just all three of them crying into the best family hug in the history of all family hugs
Who is more likely to bail the child(ren) out of trouble with the law? - Patrick, because he INVENTED trouble with the law, NAH omg hopefully neither
Cooking:
Who does the most cooking? - Spencer! Patrick can cook well enough to keep himself alive, but Spencer is basically a CHEF at this point and well, it’s his thing :3
Who is the most picky in their food choice? - Maybe Sammy? Patrick isn’t picky in the slightest, he’s very likely to eat something he doesn’t like either (at the end of the day he always be “everything’s better than trench food, so”) and Spencer doesn’t seem very picky? So if anybody had to pick that title, it’d probably be some child-pickiness
Who does the grocery shopping? - Who happens to! Depends on schedules and such, but I also believe that Spencer is more likely to, also because he’s the cook so Patrick would be constantly calling him anyway
How often do they bake desserts? - Any time Spencer would feel like it >:)
Are they more of a meat lover or a salad eater? - Well, Spencer is a vegetarian so there’s that, Patrick definitely enjoys meat
Who is more likely to surprise the other(s) with an anniversary dinner? - SPENCER! Although, it depends, are we talking a dinner out or a dinner in, although it’s a dinner in either way right, SO SPENCER! Because he cooks. Patrick would surprise him with something else.
Who is more likely to suggest going out? - PATRICK! But he means... OUT out, as in out into nature, on a field, for a picnic, or to star-gaze, he’s more likely too because if he can’t breathe fresh air at least once a day, he withers away (like a dog, yknow)
Who is more likely to burn the house down accidentally while cooking? - NEITHER!
Chores:
Who cleans the room? - BOTH!
Who is really against chores? - NEITHER! I can see it being rather relaxing for both of them, just getting things done around the house
Who cleans up after the pets? - WHOEVER HAPPENS TO!
Who is more likely to sweep everything under the rug? - APPLE! Lmao
Who stresses the most when guests are coming over? - SPENCER! Because Patrick is just gonna boot them out if he doesn’t like them, he’s a master at skillfully kicking people out of places, but also because he’s taken to trying to be calm during situations like these so that Spencer can rely on him, so even if he WAS stressed, he’d probably get over it
Who found a dollar between the couch cushions while cleaning? - SAMMY! It’s her Treasure
Misc:
Who takes the longer showers/baths? - SPENCER! For the sole reason that Patrick’s showers are fast as lightning lmao and he doesn’t take baths
Who takes the dog out for a walk? - THEY DON’T OWN A DOG!
How often do they decorate the room/house for the holidays? - THEY DON’T MISS A SINGLE ONE EXCEPT FOR THANKSGIVINGS PATRICK DOESN’T PARTICIPATE IN THAT ONE LMAO
What are their goals for the relationship? - EVERYTHING THEY GOT RIGHT NOW TBH
Who is most likely to sleep till noon? - NEITHER! Both seem pretty early risers
Who plays the most pranks? - PATRICK! I’m kidding IT’S APPLE

📱 THE OG'S
— send me a “📱” and i will answer the following: | @enchcntd
-. What was my muses 5 last sent texts yours?[ to Spencer ] Sammy said she’d really, really, really, really, really, really, like to eat lunch with you today, really, please? This is quite literally what she said, but I might have added an extra ‘really’, because I would enjoy eating with you, too[ to Spencer ] I’m starting to believe public transportations have something against our date night… I’ll be 10 minutes late, I’m sorry dear[ to Spencer ] Well, it’s official, I have to come to pick you up today: I’ve been missing your voice for far too long, I might die if I have to wait until you get home[ to Spencer ] Her majesty Samantha Finch would hereby like to invite you to her royal brunch, on the condition that you may provide iced tea because it appears her kingdom has run out of it. Your assigned seat would be next to her majesty’s royal advisor, Apple[ to Spencer ] I never really cared for love songs before I met you, isn’t that incredible? The thought of you makes me smile at cheesy pop songs, you’ve turned my world quite around… Thank you for that.
Note: Patrick is… is an awful texter. In the sense that, he does it very rarely. He’s only recently started doing it thanks to Spencer so chances are, most of the time he’s replying rather than initiating a conversation. But he does try! Because he wants Spencer to know that he’s thinking of him even when Spencer hasn’t contacted him. And because he can’t stop telling him about all the things Sam does and says when he isn’t around to see it.
-. What was my muses 5 last unsent texts yours?[ to Spencer ] Are you sure I’m what you want? Me? Anyone would be a better option. I don’t even know if I can give you your first time
That’s… Literally the only one he wouldn’t send, ever.-. What was my muses last snapchat to yours?
Patrick? And snapchat? :’) Unlikely
-. What my muse saved your number as?Spencer, he once changed it to ‘Dearest’, but he feared what would happen if something were to happen to him and one of his enemies would find that written and seek out Spencer to harm him, so he changed it back to something less obvious-. What contact photo my muse has set for yours?
Tumblr media
Okay, so I realise this photo is incredibly blurry and he will change it, but the reason it’s currently this one is, Patrick can’t take photos on his phone to save his life, so he kindly asked Sammy if she could make take a “picture of daddy smiling really brightly”. It developed into Patrick not seeing his phone for the rest of the afternoon because Sam took an incredible liking to take pictures of everything she saw (his gallery was filled with pictures of Apple, Spencer, clouds, the space under the couch, Sam’s toy cars, the apartment, and the inside of every single cupboard in the kitchen).-. What ringtone my muse has set for yours?? :’) Spencer and Patrick are the ‘anything but tech-savvy’ couple I fear (to be honest, he always mutes his phone, only vibrate on at all times, so he has no clue what the default ringtone even sounds like, but it’d be that one)-. How many times my muse has called yours this week?Whenever it happens, it happens, but at least once a day when Patrick is away for work, sometimes (often) twice, so it depends if he was at home this week or not; if he’s at home, it’s much rarer, since he’ll prefer just visiting Spencer at work if he really needed something-. How many calls has my muse missed from yours?None. Yes, he has his phone muted, but his hearing is very sensitive, he hears the vibration before he even feels them, so he’ll pull it out, and usually only pick up if it’s Spencer. He doesn’t really like speaking on the phone, but he wouldn’t leave Spencer hanging. Anybody else can wait.
