Oh I get what you're saying. Yeah they are like that about english. They've always been like that. I do sometimes think they expect too much from some k-idols that don't speak an inch of english tbh. And I can't pinpoint a specific video(Because they have quite a lot) but on some of their videos, they talk about how they feel as though the rap parts are random (they talk about the raps sometimes like how they talked about the screamo in exo's MAMA.)

"they've always been like that" that's what bothers me tbh. they've been in korea far too long to a) make fun of and berate non native english speakers for their english abilities and b) speak only the bare minimum of korean. 

it's not right to make fun of someone for not being instantly fluent in another language to begin with but i might be more lenient if they themselves were bilingual. however, they are so /not/ bilingual to the point of still pronouncing idol names wrong.

they don't have a leg to stand on when it comes to language and they've gone far too many years with zero attempts at change

So I was wondering, I saw your post about the eyk reviewing voodoo doll. I understand your points but eyk isn't always for rap parts in the middle of singing songs. (I liked Ravi's part tho)

(phew that's an old post how did you find that? lol)

i can't speak for what eyk is for/not for or their preferences but,

in the actual video, it wasn't his rap they ragged on. they ragged on his english. i understand simon doesn't like ravi's rap voice, it's a little strange and definitely an acquired taste. but, as i said in my original post, they ignored an entire chunk of english to give them a 0/5. they spent more time picking on ravi's english than they did on his actual rap ability/style/his rap in general

also, because i wouldn't be able to stand going through all their music mondays to find examples, can you give me examples where simon and martina have complained about raps in the middle of songs? not ones where they make fun of the english in the rap (hi u-kiss) but where they say they do not like the rap itself?

apart from the video, about ravi's raps on their blog post they said " The rest of the song would be totally fine without it. COMPLETELY. I don’t feel like it adds any value to the song at all. Quite the opposite: it makes the song worse." fine. they are entitled to their opinion. but then they go on to say "WHAT THE HELL IS HE SAYING?" which brings us back to my point about them caring more about his accent than his ability

(because let's face it, eyk doesn't speak close to enough korean to be able to tell a) how accented ravi's korean is, b) whether or not it's comprehensible, and c) whether or not it's actually a good rap)

i don't have a lot of love and affection for eyk to begin with so i might be a bit biased but i think the way they handled the entire review (especially the bit about ravi's rap) was undignified and uncalled for and generally lacking class and poise. 

i hope i answered this to an acceptable degree (you didn't actually ask a question lol) and i'm glad you enjoyed ravi's part!
