Here's an interpretation of Yang Cheng's hesitation to save Shang Chao.

What — really — was he jealous over?

Was it really Shang Chao's status as a "love rival"?

Have you ever been doomed by something you had no choice over (why don't you get a family, why don't you get love)? You're vividly aware of the way that the things you lack has made you different, made you less (you're awkward, fumbling, you can't accept love, even if you finally got it). 你已经输在起跑线上 — you've lost already at the starting line (you can't even get a good job with your background).

You meet someone who looks like he has everything you don't.

He has a supportive family. Friends, good grades, success. You don't want to think like this but you can't help but think he's so goddamn privileged. You have to fight your way into a competition that he's the judge of, and sure, he's there partly because he's good and capable, but he has so many things you don't. Resources, support, the privilege to fail and be caught by the people who love him. All he needs to do is ask, and he has money enough to rent (you, he rented it for you) a whole warehouse.

It would be easier if he was a bad person, but he isn't. No, you're the bad person. He has been raised kind and generous, surrounded by all the light of the world, while you have been fighting for scraps in the dark. If there's one person here who's ugly on the inside, it's you -- desperate and unstable, so insecure it twists right back into being self-centred. You grew up wrong. Wretched. It wasn't your fault, but you did. He grew up happy. He didn't do anything to earn it, but he was happy nonetheless.

Did you ever, really, feel romantically attracted to the girl you "like"? Or was it the allure of light, of having someone look kindly upon you and treat you as an equal? Did you ever feel really envious towards that other boy, or was it the whole world you felt envy for? You can care for someone so deeply, and yet also be so fiercely jealous of what they have that you don't. A lifetimes' worth of 委屈 — a term which translates to 'wronged', that repeating 'why me why me why me' that bounces in the back of your head — that simply burst at the wrong moment, targeted towards the wrong person. It's not about the confession, the concert tickets, any of that. It's about inequality. Seeing someone who has everything you don't, and not being able to help but want to see them lose.

It is kind of crazy to think that like.

Those of us who’ve been in the pnf fandom since 2020 or earlier. Or who joined prior to the revival announcement.

And now the show is coming back, and new amazing artists and accounts are popping up and that is so amazing and those of us who’ve been here for awhile set the foundation. Long before we ever thought we’d be getting new content.

i just think that Bingge and Shen Yuan should just hate each other so much. Like truly can't stand each other. Luo Bingge doesn't want to be pathetic like Bingmei because that's dumb and disgusting (and he's pathetic in a completely different way) the concept of needing love to fix him would appall both of them.

Shen Yuan would be like 'the supposed right romance fixing Binghe is lazy writing and is just a slap in the face to everything and you're telling me it should be me to fix him? that's disrespecting the character and not just because it's gay'. And he says this because he doesn't respect Bingge as a person. He respects them as a character and an object. His flattery and praise would only go so far once faced with the real thing. He'd see a selfish ranting power tripping asshole with a hole in his chest he refuses to fix and see something there he doesn't want to see or even admit to and hate him.

Meanwhile, Bingge would just find this asshole so annoying. This man constantly saying he's the best and perfect while also telling him to jump higher and impress him. The idea of the harem actually making him miserable is too much for him. If you told him that he'd kill you. If you told him he needed love to fix him he'd be like 'what's wrong with me, huh?' and then stab you. Shen Yuan would be the top Bingge's shit list simply on principle. He'd hate this worm that keeps writhing in his shoe telling him he's cool while also clearly unimpressed and disgusted with him. The fear he can live with and be apathetic towards. But everything thing else drives him to hate. This man has everything and yet he's a miserable fuck bullying an author online for fun? Pathetic.

I want them to bring out the worst in each other. I want them to draw out each others toxic traits in this horrible extraction from just being in the same room that neither one of them can and wants to handle. I want them to break and fall apart because they hate each other so much so that if they do kiss it is the most poisoned bad idea hate make out you can get. I want them to make love and hate each other for doing it and spend an hour blaming the other for what happened because like they didn't even get to penetration. They both came early so now they're left going 'I never want to do this again but I need to know who tops because obviously it's me!!'

Product Recommendation: Surviving the Respiratory Crud Edition

Various unpleasant viruses and stuff are going around, and I think I got the mild version - it's not COVID and in my case didn't even include a fever, just a ton of congestion and a nagging cough. It's been a week and I'm on the recovery upswing but still not there yet. The good news is I can forget, for hours at a time, that I'm ill, thanks to taking these products on the scheduled doses. And Robitussin wasn't lying when they said their raspberry is 'better tasting': it still tastes like cold medicine, but is strikingly palatable and minimally cloying (identical taste in both this and the longer-lasting nighttime formula). I can also attest it got me through my bought of COVID last year.

The Throat Coat sweet ginger fennel, meanwhile, is like candy. Naturally mentholated candy, which might feel a bit weird but in a very good way when it's simultaneous numbing your throat and cold-steaming open your sinuses (that's how it feels to me, anyway). Throat Coat does a tea that I'm enjoying, too, which doesn't taste like medicine at all but just a soothing, not-too-sweet but not-at-all-bitter herbal tea.

Anyway, this is a recommendation if you have the time and means to stock up before the crud gets you, and because it was a nice surprise to find cold medicine that's not only quickly effective but also tastes fine.

The moon rounds the red mansion, Stoops to silk-pad doors, Shines upon the sleepless, // cut to the battle between morax/adepti and azhdaha in the chasm amidst the red cliffs. idk not much to say Bearing no grudge, Why does the moon tend to be full when people are apart? // erosion. bearing no grudge is giving zhongli sealing azhdaha away because of his duty to liyue, as part of their contract. probably insert an image of azhdaha (or the zhongli in retuo's memories) slowly being erased, bit by bit and piece by piece, as retuo's eyes close underneath nantianmen. gratuitous use of a flurry of ginkgo leaves floating in front of the viewer as screen fades to white

"May we all be blessed with longevity" makes me think of erosion, but also "When you reach the end of time, those people, those past and future relationships predetermined by fate… they will be waiting for you" said by kun jun/azhdaha in no mere stone. when zhongli goes to meet them, he'll be waiting too

a fic set to the song/poem would also fuck. i simply think that more retuo content is neat!!! hes literally a blind rock given vision, a rock that can sing and dream, and zhongli is retuo's tiny god with a heart of stone, a heart nonetheless. arent they so interesting can we have another azhdaha mention in game soon
