Going on a roadtrip to a family reunion (thoughts and prayers appreciated) but the good news is I’ve got a whole line up of fics to read on the way. Some Jaya angst should get me through it.

You get an extra chapter this week, which will hopefully hold you over if I get caught up in school next week!
In this chapter, Nadakhan allows visitors to Djinjago to make wishes, as Arrakore had been doing. Unfortunately, he isn’t quite as welcoming and delightful as Arrakore, and Nya has to watch the whole thing go down.
Also, I don’t think I have to say this, but Nadakhan is a liar. Take everything he says with a grain of salt and a heavy dose of ill intent on the side.

Skybound: Murder Mystery Edition
When Nadakhan first arrives in Ninjago, he really doesn't seem to have malicious intentions towards anyone in particular. Like, yes, he framed the ninja and twisted Clouse, Wu, and Misako's wishes, but it doesn't feel targeted, just necessary steps to reach the Realm Crystal (since he's not going to ask nicely). He's just checking off the steps on a to do list, and if someone gets in the way, it's nothing personal, he's just going to trample right over them.
When confronting Misako in E2, he tells her that he wants his crew back, and he seems to genuinely mean it. Nadakhan is fully prepared to retire to Djinjago, and even brings his crew along for an extended vacation, only to discover his home world crumbling to dust.
But by the end of the season, Nadakhan is banishing all of the Sky Pirates with no regard for who they are or what they've done for him in the past.
So what happened in between E1 and E10?
Nadakhan realized one of the Sky Pirates betrayed him 200 years ago.
Do we know of any other Djinn ever venturing into Ninjago? If not, it is likely that only Nadakhan would have known that a Tiger Widow's venom is toxic to a Djinn. And I doubt he would willingly pass on that information to any random stranger. At most, he might have told the inner members of his crew, maybe as a safeguard in case another Djinn ever attacked.
Which means one of them betrayed Nadakhan to Captain Soto.
So take your pick. Which member of the Misfortune's Keep was responsible for turning against Nadakhan (and killing Delara)?
Clancee, the stuttering snake who cleans house?
Flintlocke, the "most loyal first mate" who wanted to get revenge on Delara for usurping his position?
Doubloon, using his actions to speak louder than his silence could?
Monkey Wretch, nimble enough to retrieve the venom and attack when the others least suspect?
Dogshank, the beauty turned beastly out for revenge?
Or Delara herself, a double agent from the beginning, sent to bring down the Pirate King of the Endless Sea?

Anyone else feel this urge to make all of the tags fit nicely at the bottom of the post, and then get annoyed when one is too big and there's an empty space?
Just me?

Murtessa pissed Nya off so much that I like to think she didn’t abdicate the throne when they left Shintaro. She just appointed a regent to reign in her stead. (And it was not Murtessa)
Then one day she tells Geo she’s the Queen of the Munce. no details, just drops that fact and walks away.

Morro and Arrakore both have freakin' customer service jobs now.
Look at Arrakore rubbing his face and just looking so done.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know that this isn't the first time he's had someone wish for something stupid. He might've at least once wished that he had just stayed in his cave.
It's funny cus both Morro and Arrakore decided to actually help people. Arrakore, because he had finally gained hope, and Morro, because he wanted to make up for his mistakes.
It's also double funny cus the realms they come from are sister realms.
Also, also, they are like, the only people in their lands that maintain it and so on.

I'm currently liking the explanation for Ninjago's timeline fluctuations as something that just happens in Ninjago.
Why else would Cyrus Borg add a temporal scanner to his Borg watch? Temporal anomalies must be a normal occurrence, and he wanted to make sure everyone was alerted when and where they happened.
It's why no one can remember if the Serpentine were real or legend in S1, even though the war ended just over forty years ago.
It's why some episodes have scenes in the middle of the night immediately followed by a sunset scene, or a cut out to something happening simultaneously several blocks away in broad daylight.
It covers any of the strange parts of S7, like how long Kai and Nya were on their own, and why Ray and Maya look so young compared to Krux.
Which also opens up other possibilities. Like, what if there are tons of adults who had magic tea to make them grow older? Or all of the time travel shenanigans the ninja have been on are actually things that most citizens know about and experience as well?
What if every single AU anyone has ever written could actually be considered canon because you could always point back to another temporal anomaly that would have led to those exact circumstances?

I'm starting college on the 25th.
Kind of starting to freak out.
Is there anything I need to read, write, do, think, etc. before I start?

When Arin was first invited to stay at the Monastery of Spinjitzu, he spent several hours exploring the whole place. He went room by room, barely able to contain himself because he was there, he was standing in the ninja headquarters, the place of his dreams.
He finally reached Lloyd's bedroom, and even though he wasn't planning on snooping, Arin found himself drawn to a shelf along one wall. It seemed to be full of... junk? He couldn't figure out why it would have any value to his new master.
A cough from the doorway made Arin jump away from the shelf. He laughed nervously when he saw Lloyd, then asked, "Sorry to pry, but what's with all of this random stuff?"
It was Lloyd's turn to laugh. He combed a hand through his hair and blushed as he explained, "It's my, uh, trauma shelf."
Arin frowned. "Trauma shelf?"
"Yeah, see?" Starting a pencil from Darkley's Boarding School, Lloyd went one by one he went through all of the items.
A candy wrapper from when he was starving on the streets.
A glass shard from the bottle of tea that made him grow older.
A bottle of sand from the beach where he'd fought his father the first time.
A scrap of fabric torn from Morro's cloak.
A brick from the prison where Garmadon tried to beat him to a pulp.
The knife Harumi had used to attack him.
A loose scale from his Oni form.
Arin wasn't sure what to say when Lloyd finished. He finally asked, "Why do you keep all of this?"
"I don't know," Lloyd admitted. "I guess I just don't want to forget everything I've been through. It's hard to move on, you know?"
Arin nodded. Even though he'd been through only a fraction of what Lloyd had endured, he knew what the Merge had done to him. He certainly hadn't moved on from losing his parents.

Hm… I’ve realized I may have gotten overboard with my plot ideas for my Skybound fic, and realized it may not be for sure what I want.
*extremely realistic is still gonna be fricking crazy, trust.

Thanks for the tags! Thanksgiving has quite the track record, yikes...
1- Several years ago, my dad invited me to join him on a work trip to a different country. While we were there, the COVID-19 lockdown started, and we were told that the airports were closing and we wouldn't be allowed to return home. Thankfully it was just a rumor and we made it back on schedule!
2- I had my appendix removed, and now I have this really weird discomfort around anything coming near my belly button, because that's where the scar is and it was really sensitive for a while after the surgery.
3- I'm starting college next week, and majoring in Creative Writing!
