So you know how Alexander went to Memel to meet the Prussian royal couple after he became emperor, and there’s been rumors of his romance with Queen Louise? Well Adam Czartoryski in his memoirs mentions how Alexander locked himself in every night while staying there to avoid someone (Louise and her sister) coming in at night because their rooms were connected.

Ben dün gece yine 15 saniyelik bir Instagram videosundan yola çıkarak çok tatlı deryalara daldım. Kuğulu Park’ın aslında Polonya topraklarına ait olduğuyla alakalı bir videoydu, oradan yola çıkarak çok tatlı bir bilgiye* daha ulaştım. Kuğulu Park’ın karşısı Polonya Büyükelçiliği, o nedenle elçilikle Kuğulu arasındaki yolun adı “Polonya Caddesi” sanıyordum ama sahiden Kuğulu Park büyükelçilik arazisinde yer alan ve sonradan Türkiye’ye verilen bir alanmış, araya yol girdi diye de o caddeye Polonya Caddesi demiş. Ankaralıların Atatürk Bulvarı, Ankarasızların Protokol Yolu olarak bildiği cadde genişletileceğinde Polonya Büyükelçiliği’nden biraz toprak istemişiz, sonra eskiden daha yukarıda olan Kuğulu Park’ı yol için aldığımız alan karşılığında sefarete vermişiz. Bu sefer Kuğulu Park şu an bulunduğu alanda yeniden kurulmuş, şu an bulunduğu alan da Polonya’dan aldığımız toprakmış işte.

Biografy of Jonas Rustemas really resembles the biography of his famous student, Taras Shevchenko.

Jonas Rustemas (in Turkish - Jan Rustem) lost his parents from early childhood and, being an orphan, fell into slavery in Konstantinopol. His mother was French, and his father was Armenian. At the age of ten, Rustemas was bought out of slavery by the famous general Adam Kazimierz Czartoryski, who was impressed by the boy's good command of the French language and drawing skills. In 1774, Czartoryski left Constantinople for Lviv (in some sources, Pulau) and took little Jonas there. In this city, J.Rustemas started his education.

Most of his life Jonas spent in Lithuania. In 1820, Jonas Rustemas organized the first art exhibition in Lithuania, where the works of art of his students were shown.

Jonas Rustemas was the founder of the Lithuanian National Art School and the professor of Vilnius University. He retired in 1826 but continued to lecture until his death (1835), which occurred near the city of Dūkštas (Lithuania).

He painted mythological and religious compositions, domestic scenes and landscapes. However, he became popular mostly for painting nobility. Almost all of his works have disappeared.

Can you recommend me a book to start learning about the Napoleonic era, especially in Russia? Preferably something more focused on the people and not the military stuff. Thank you!

Ehh, the majority of stuff I read is in Russian, so that's a challenge.

I know that there's an English translation or "Napoleon" by Eugene/Evgenii Tarle, which is quite a good biography of Napoleon, and obviously Russians do appear there.

Then there's Michael Jenkins' book "Arakcheev: Grand Vizier of the Russian Empire", which is a hilarious book about Arakcheev, Alexander's right hand man.

Adam Czartorysky's (Alexander's best friend) memoirs are also translated to English, iirc. They are amazing.
